But the difference from the other spreadsheet software is that - -when you sit on a blank cell below some content in excel and press Ctrl+D, the content is copied from the above cell and into the cell you're on. - -in LO, the cells /have/ to be selected first, the top one containing what you want copied. So we *force* user action 3) above. Wishlist: a) Copy the above cell's contents into the current cell's when only one cell is selected. (Behaviour 1+2 above) THIS IS THE EXTRA FEATURE b) Copy the topmost cell(s)' contents down into the row(s) below when more than one row is selected. THIS IS CURRENT BEHAVIOUR. Note: The extra here proposed behaviour does not crash with current behaviour, as nothing happens when you press Ctrl+D with only one cell selected. That's why I'm optimistic to this, even being my own suggestion. :P After first writing the developer mailing list, I now hope this is the correct list. ;) Now, is it by design/decision that this isn't implemented in libreoffice? Hi This might be a stupid question, so I'd better ask it quick and get over with it: This here very data-destructive bug is also living in libreoffice's fur somewhere: http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=89232 My version: LibreOffice 3.3.2 OOO330m19 (Build:202) tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2 Good news are, it's been fixed in openoffice. :) So I wonder if bug fixes from openoffice taken into libreoffice automagically? [Libreoffice] extensions rant
Hi all Are there any plans of launching a LO extensions site to take over? The openoffice one is more and more often offline... http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/ was down yesterday, and today too. I know of http://libreplanet.org/wiki/Group:OpenOfficeExtensions/List but it's actually linking to the openoffice server. I wouldn't mind if I didn't have my extension sitting there... best Arno signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
[Libreoffice] fix for twofold suffix stripping + compound in hunspell
Hi I've just hacked the hunspell sources I got from CVS so that I could get rid of this hunspell bug: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3288562group_id=143754atid=756395 The issue was that hunspell would accept words with one suffix+compound, but not two suffixes+compound. Patch attached in the above link. --- Since most words in Quichua have stem+suffix_level1+suffix_level2 +lots_of_compounds, this was a showstopper for my spellchecker. At first I wrote a generator script that would create all the different inflexes and stick it into a dictionary, but it was a bad hack and very slow with a dictionary file of 17+entries for only some 3000 words... But now also analysis benefits :D hunspell -d qu_EC -m mikunakuykunatakapash pa:mikunakuy st:mikuna # base plur # Nounification amongst us pa:kuna st:kuna pa:ta st:ta pa:ka st:ka pa:pash [For the curious the word means something like for to the big feasts, also] The patch is just two lines, one for each of two functions in affixmgr.cxx, compound_check() and compound_check_morph(). For LO only the one in AffMgr::compound_check() is needed, I think, haven't seen the morphology analysis being used anywhere in LO... best Arno Teigseth signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
[Libreoffice] installing on ubuntu
Hi Wanted to tell about two problems I've noted. 1) Libreoffice writer crashes when I press F1 without the help pack installed. Since the help pack is optional, this is a bit strange behaviour. 2) So I just downloaded today (2 apr 2011 12:00) the latest x86 debs. Installing them goes fine until I try and install the helppack. That's when I get sudo dpkg -i libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.2-19_i386.deb (Reading database ... 354556 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace libobasis3.3-en-us-help 3.3.0-4 (using libobasis3.3-en-us-help_3.3.2-19_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement libobasis3.3-en-us-help ... error: trying to overwrite '/opt/libreoffice/basis3.3/help/en/sdraw.cfg', which is also in package libobasis3.3-en-us-draw 0:3.3.0-4 Now, I can override it with --force-overwrite, but it will be hard explaining that to my father, who's used to doubleclick the package... [Libreoffice] template missing
Hi This might be a corner case, but I have this problem: To not have to go through the import template process every time I change a template, I symlinked it. So, ln -s mynicetemplate.ots ~/.libreoffice/3/user/template/ That worked fine until I moved the template. Of course it disappeared from the select template dialog. The problem is, if I now try to _import_ the template with the Organize|Import template menu, I get the message the template may already exist. This could be confusing to some users, since libreoffice claims the template exists while it actually is nowhere to be found in the template selection box. Why not give the user the option of do you want to overwrite the already existing template? in these cases? Could be a Good Thing (tm) even when users aren't doing strange things like symlinking like I did. Suppose some [small] organization updates a template. Seems to me a bit unnecessary having to first delete the old and then import the new template. Could even lead some users do delete the wrong template etc etc. best Arno signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice

[Libreoffice] Upgrade packages for windows
Hi This might be the correct list to post this: A microsoft fanboy/employee complains on a norwegian discussion site that you have to download the whole openoffice to upgrade or to fix problems (guess this applies to libreoffice too) That is, he's complaining that to go from 3.2 to 3.2.1 he had to download the whole installer and run it. Someone pointed out that on linux, the distribution is (can be) package-based, so that he would avoid that. Now, is it possible/interesting to have such a feature, that people can download fixes (Microsoft would call them hotfixes) to Libreoffice? To me it looks a bit ugly, but it could be just a question of replacing the binaries/files that differ from last version. I don't know enough about this to say if it's a Good Idea or a Bad Idea (tm) [The microsoft guy didn't mention whether you need to download the whole thing when you upgrade office, nor if you have to pay, nor the MS office installer size: some 500M just for the student edition] just a few of my cents, best Arno signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice

Yes that would be an issue ;) I had the same feeling from just looking at my cow-orkers' windows computers, with updates failing and breaking everything, leaving you worse off than before. I guess it would be different if the whole windows system was set up with packages, with version controls and this-package-depends-on stuff. It seems to end up with the problem being Windows lacking a system-wide package management system, and - no one wants to make such a system just for libreoffice - it's more work figuring out the problems that probably will arise from an upgrade package than actually just installing the newer version of openoffice. These would probably be good reasons to give if anyone asks? #1 answer also puts the responsibility for building a package management system to where it belongs: the system owners, Microsoft. [Libreoffice] Strange behaviour in GNOME when toolboxes are detached
I'm having an issue with libreoffice when toolboxes are detached from their toolbar. When switching windows _with the MOUSE_, 1) the keyboard focus gets messed up (seems the keypresses go nowhere) 2) switching away from libreoffice I have to click the minimized application twice to switch to it. 3) seems I need to click inside the applications to make them receive keyboard focus. 4) The toolbox is stuck above other applications. Workaround/fix: Switch back and forth a few times with Alt+Tab, and libreoffice will get back its focus. Steps to reproduce: Dropdown the Font Color, Background color or Highlighter tool, and drag the toolbox to detach it from the toolbar. Click something on the GNOME status bar, see if it's maximized at once or if you have to click some more. Watch keyboard focus. Switch back, same trouble LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m17 (Build:3) libreoffice-build 3.3.0.1 I've tried with both compiz and metacity; the behaviour is the same. Trouble ends when I close the detached Font color box. Seems that those color boxes are stealing focus a little too much, or is a little too present on the desktop. I find the language selector on the bottom of the writer UI not so efficient. I have installed just a few languages, but still all the wrong languages show up.
