 Use

 git status

 git pull -r

to get the changes. If you are on a branch,

 git checkout master

 will put you on master.

Thank you so much of your reply. The wiki really helpful.

The command

 sudo apt-get install libgnomevfs2-dev

gnome-vfs not found while ./autogen.sh

2012-02-18 Thread LOH KOK HOE
I am using Fedora 16, when I issue this command:

./autogen.sh --with-num-cpus=2

I hit this error:

configure: error: Package requirements (gnome-vfs-2.0 = 2.6.0 ) were not
 met:

 No package 'gnome-vfs-2.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOMEVFS_CFLAGS
and GNOMEVFS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

I have downloaded the gnome-vfs from this source
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/gnome/gnome-vfs.html, but I
found out that it was a deprecated package. Before I proceed to install
this package, I would like to check is there any alternative solution on
this issue? If this is the only solution, as according to the installation
guideline of gnome-vfs (I have extract the text below), the sysconfdir is
pointing to /etc/gnome/2.30.2. I don't find this path in my system. May I
know how could I find a valid sysconfdir value?

./configure --prefix=$(pkg-config --variable=prefix ORBit-2.0) \
 --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome/2.30.2 \
 --libexecdir=$(pkg-config \
 --variable=prefix ORBit-2.0)/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0

I'm not sure why we check for the version here. *maybe* it was because
the embedded hsqldb wouldn't build with the openjdk 1.7, but I fixed
that a few days ago. Or maybe it was just an omission because 1.7 didn't
exist when that check was written.

Anyway, I removed the error on bytecode 1.7 from configure, ./g pull -r
again and see if it works for you now.

Re: How to compile Calc

2012-02-09 Thread LOH KOK HOE
Thank you so much on the support.

My development is on Fedora Linux with Firefox web browser.

I was reading the guide from this site (the only site I can reference).
http://www.libreoffice.org/developers-3/. I think it should be the latest
one.

Regarding on the code base documentation, I found there are lacking of this
info where it could be so important to find the road map for new joiner
where they should go.

Give me some more time to get myself ready for the code.

This should mostly get done for you automagically :-)

After a git clone of the core repository:

cd core
./configure
make
make dev-install

and you should have an install/ directory you can run calc inside
 :-)
Great to have you around, and looking forward to your patches. Be aware
that it can take a little while to get your system environment working
to the point that you can build easily (even on Linux).

Michael.

Re: How to compile Calc

2012-02-08 Thread LOH KOK HOE
Thank you so much on the clarification. I was trying to get myself involve
in the project development.

At the very beginning step is to get myself familiar with the code base by
working on the bug fixes, but the project is too huge and kind of lose
where should I start. Since I have been using a lot of word and calc, thus
I was planning to start from Calc project. Initially I really though it
was a separate project like Word project, Calc project, Draw project,
and many many more project, adding them together will have a big project
called LibreOffice.

My objective is to fix bugs, my though was if I fix a bug in Calc, I should
compile just Calc project rather than to compile the whole thing. Should
I compile the whole thing when I fixed a bug in Calc? I heard rumours in
OpenOffice saying that if compile the whole thing will take a long time
(probably took days to compile) if my computer is using core 2 duo
processor. That's why I want to compile individual project rather than
compile the whole thing. Anyhow I have i5 with 8GB ram ready, no worry on
that.

According to the Get-Involve Guide, I should check out the core project.
But when I go browse the repo, I saw many other subproject, and then each
branch will have sub branches. A little bit confusing because I don't know
which branch I should checkout. So which branch I should check out in order
for me to fix a bug?

In order to compile Calc, any other dependencies project I should
checkout as well?

According to the Get-Involve Guide, under the section Build and Run it, it
didn't mention how to compile Calc. Thus I was a little lose here.

THanks @!

I have check out a new copy of calc libreoffice-3-4 project

There is no separate Calc project that one could build. You have
been mislead by the fact that we used to have the source code split up
in a bunch of separate Git repositories, one being called calc. That
doesn't man one would be able to use just the calc repository to
 build just Calc.

There are 4 sub project inside calc project.

There are four *subdirectories*. Your use of the word project is
 slightly odd.

May I know how should I compile
in order to have the calc program up?

Calc is not a separate program.

Firstly, before helping you any further, you should tell us what it is
that you actually want to achieve. Do you want to fix some bug or do
other improvements? Work on some feature? Or what?

Only after you have told that can we tell you whether it indeed makes
sense for you to build LibreOffice 3.4, or whether you should work on
the upcoming 3.5 version's code, or on the master development
branch. (The source code for these is no longer split up into separate
 Git repositories.)

Anyway, welcome to working on LibreOffice, and hopefully your initial
confusion will quickly be resolved and you can get on with hacking!

Re: [Libreoffice] Segmentation fault in building tail_build project

2011-10-30 Thread LOH KOK HOE
Thank you so much on yours reply. [?]

The export to GNUMAKE is not working. When I issue a command make
--version, it still showing version 3.81. Could it be a possibility where
the old make is default install and there is no other way to modify the
environment variable? Anyhow I have temporary rename the old make and copy
over the new make into the /usr/bin/ just in case there are others program
that might need the old make.

But I still prefer to set the environment variable as this could save a lot
hassle work on rename the make file. BTW, does the export GNUMAKE work for
Ubuntu Linux?

Thanks for your help. I have the make 3.82 downloaded. May I know can I
instruct the build to use the latest version of make 3.82.

I was using Ubuntu, currently using version 3.81, and not really want to
remove the old version and install a new one because there are dependencies
using make 3.81.

May I know is there a way to use the make 3.82 and not removing make 3.81?

You are most likely using an unpatched gnu make 3.81 with -j 1
there should have been a warning at configure time about that. something
 like
 * - make 3.81 is prone to crashes with parallelism 1. Since
--with-num-cpus was explicitely given, it is honored, but do not
complain when make segfault on you.

Anyway, you either need to disable (i.e do not specify
--with-num-cpus) the build parallelism or install and use a gnu make
 3.82 or a patched 3.81 version.
You can find a usable 3.82 version at
