And you're right, the original developers kind of used the same Hungarian notation for comments that they used for variable names :). No no, git format-patch is still the preferred patch format, so you are fine. For those who integrate patches, you can integrate patches generated by git format-patch simply by running 'git am' command. That's the preferred way because git format-patch preserves the commit message and the committer information as well as it handles changes in binary blobs. These are something the conventional patch format does not handle.
