I installed windows version 5.1.0.1 which has a dictionary with loads of single
char entries for "hq" in English and it can't be reproduced there. The menu
scrolls and works fine.

This however was reproduced by tommy27 with 5.1.0.0lapha1+ and I see that bug
92702 was fixed between 5.1.0.0 and 5.1.0.1 and it is "unable to select menu
items that were initially off-screen". Reverting that fix indeed creates a menu
for these choice entries where the offscreen entries don't work when scrolled
onto the screen.

There was also backports of this fix to to 5.0.X series. I'm pretty sure this
is a duplicate of that, now fixed, problem

Does the crash happen with any slideshow, or only a particular one?
If the latter is the case, can you attach the file? Or possibly, create a
minimal example from it, by deleting parts that aren't necessary to get the
crash?

In the meantime raising priority to critical, since there's clearly a crash.

When adding a new bibliography entry from document content to a text, if it is
added before an existing bibliography entry (higher up in the text - in
previous pages etc), then the bibliography numbering of the following entries
doesn't update. 

For example if an entry is added between existing bibliography entries #6 and
#7, then the new entry will be numbered #7 and the previous #7 remains #7, thus
there is a duplicate number. 

The problem persists even if the bibliography index is updated manually. 

However, the numbering gets corrected if I close and reopen Writer. 

I have tested this on Ubuntu 16.04.

That doesn't make sense to me unless the code is actually calling a foreign
module.  Seems to me the behavior of the LibreOffice application should not be
affected by the output that it produces, whether it be ODS, XLS or CSV.

After further testing, I've also found a variation of this issue when saving in
generic CSV format.  The difference in this case is that, not only does the
status area re-appear upon saving the document, the full status information
re-appears as well.

This issue is present in all versions of OpenOffice and LIbreOffice.  The
status area is opened temporarily for save progress even when saving native ODT
format, but disappears in that case.  Only when saving in non-ODT format does
it remain on the screen.  The user can re-hide the status area by checking and
unchecking View->Status Bar again.

CASE 1: Save in ODT format. Progress bar appears for save progress and
disappears, correctly honoring the view setting.

CASE 2: Save in MS XLS format. Progress bar appears for save progress and
remains on screen without status data (empty progress area).

CASE 3: Save in generic CSV format. Progress bar appears for save progress,
remains on screen and status data is included.

Many users need to maintain documents in MS format and this workaround is
annoying for anyone who wants to maximize their spreadsheet view.

RTF file (Word 2007 generated) with checkboxes in different font sizes

Found when looking at Bug #44986.

Opening the RTF file http://www.dfg.de/formulare/10_03/10_03_rtf.rtf shows the
following unter "1." in the third table row:

   [ ] ledig [ ] verheiratet [ ] verwitwet [ ] geschieden seit

If one compares Microsoft Word 2007 SP 3 (Windows 7) with LibreOffice 5.2.1.2
(Windows 7), one sees that the [] is much larger in LO than in MS Word - that's
presumably the reason that the text does not fit an the red arrow is shown.


That's even more obvious with the attached RTF file. In Word, one has 8pt, 10pt
16pt boxes and text.

In LO, the first check box is larger (!) than the second.

Expected: The first check box ([ ]) is shown in smaller font size than the
latter.


Additionally, in Word one can select the check box, change the size via the
font menu and double clicking shows a "Check Box Form Field Options" dialog.

However, in LO, modifying the font size does not work (font menu disabled),
copy-and-paste does not work - and while a single click checks/unchecks the
box, modifying the settings of checkbox is not possible.

Many features may be considered to relate to workspaces. Added some that I
think may be relevant to "see also" list - tabs, sidebars (I haven't gone
hunting for these bugs yet), various bugs related to UI navigation aids, full
screen and small screen optimizations, and plenty more I have not found yet too

ODT file where fields have some criteria. When exported to PDF the criteria
doesn't work as desired.

Version: 5.0.5.2

The criteria of pattern or date field or min-max value is not behaving right in
the exported PDF file. 

Say I've set a field for months which ranges from 12 to 120 but in PDF, if I
give 0, it takes and doesn't default to value 12 as set in ODT.

Whereas the list fields work fine, it shows the list properly. They why not for
all other types of fields? 
There seems to some bug.

Hence this escalation. Kindly export the file to PDF to see for yourself.

Could be considered to be dependent on bug #33232 (workspaces), but also note
that there is some negative feedback described in bug #101776, where "tabbed
views" are not considered kosher at this point in time.

However, the good news is that workspaces seems to have some traction, and
tabbed (multi document) views as in here, seem quite popular (I too am a great
fan - but what I really want is configurable workspaces and many and flexible
options for navigation aids - surely we deserve the best :)

Also, tabs are certainly needed to make the proprietary Adobe DreamWeaver
obsolete - see bug #101772

I'm afraid there's nothing we can do based on screenshots. The file seems to be
corrupt, and while I can give you advice to restore the backup you surely had
of this very important file, and use native ODS format for saving spreadsheets
in the future, it's not helpful for you right now.

You could try searching on the internet for suggestions, and find threads like
this:

In this bugzilla, however, no one here can help you without the actual
spreadsheet attached (and there's a chance, not even with that).

This has become more important as with LO5.3 the table template parts of ODF
are supported.

My suggestion is, to use document fragments like those, which you get, if you
create an Autotext for a table. Such fragment can contain all information to
design a table and in addition it can contain all information for column and
row width and height settings, for the structure of the table, and for the
needed numberformats, and it would allow to carry the definitions needed for
gradient, hatch or pattern background.

There exists no backward compatibility problems, because the file "autotbl.fmt"
only works as stencil to calculate the direct formating. The generated document
has no back-reference to the file "autotbl.fmt".

Step by step to reproduce the bug:
- Create a file and insert a section (Menu Insert/Section and click to dialog
box insert button);
- Write some text in this section;
- Save your file (Menu File/Save, choose a path and a name and click to save
button);
- Open a new file and insert a section (Menu Insert/Section), check the link
check box and browse to the file you just create before;
- A browsing dialog open and you can select your first file.
- When you want to click to open button to validate your choice, the browsing
dialog still be opened. :-(
- But, you can click on "Insert button" into section dialog box and its ok.

I'm sorry for the delay. I had long vacation and I do not carry all the
credentials with myself.

I verified with official 5.1.5.2 release that it behaves exactly as the 5.1.5.1
prerelease.

I have Czech localization and I'm not sitting at the machine right know, so my
description can be misleading. The OpenCL configuration tab has two options. If
I remember correctly, since the fixed release 5.1.5.1 the lower option (Allow
use of OpenCL) gets automatically disabled after the initial crash, while the
upper one (Software interpreter) keeps enabled.

I'm fine with the current solution that disables the offending feature on first
crash.

No, it's not all a duplicate, but there is some cross-over.

The Drag functionality would be a great feature--even if it's implemented 4
years later. Mouse wheel scrolling is jumps by line, making it easier to lose
ones place.

I find myself wondering why we should try to even post bugs and feature
requests.

Using 'load url bar' in impress, able to copy url to open file, but unable to
save to either local hard disk or local removable media (usb flash memory).
Libreoffice crashes.

I can't see how it will turn into a half arrow head. Wouldn't that render as

disagree with this particular proposal.

Aiming to be a WYSIWYG web editor would be too much sprawl for LibreOffice.
Above all: WYSIWYG simply is not a good way to do web design. It is obsolete
and we should not invest in it. Maybe some day a revolution will make WYSIWYG
relevant again, but that revolution cannot happen on the platform that is
LibreOffice (due to the baggage of the codebase).

The most reliable and easy way to design for the web these days is to:
- use your favorite code editor
- view the results of your editing in actual web browsers
- use the dev tools of the browsers

Instead of adding more, all web editing capability should be removed from
LibreOffice.

As open source web editors, I would recommend checking out
http://brackets.io/ (web-focused code editor from Adobe)
https://www.kdevelop.org/ (general code editor from KDE)

If still unwilling to let go of the idea of a dedicated WYSIWYG editor:
http://bluegriffon.org/ (see "what's inside" for a comparison between free and
commercial editions)

I can reproduce both of the issues with 5.2. However, I cannot repro issue 2
with a fairly fresh build of 5.3.
OfficeUser: could you test with 5.3?

For testers: to repro the mouseover issue, you must hover the mouse out of the
pane area quite quickly.

Vince: maybe you could do some tests without touching the libreoffice-gtk3
package.

See, if you can reproduce the problem by running libreoffice from the terminal
with the command:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk libreoffice

If you get slow scrolling with that environment variable, you could next try
this bit of sorcery:
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk SAL_SYNCHRONIZE=1 libreoffice

The results of these experiments might be useful information for developers.

It's still there, just hidden when there are no available synonyms.

Anyway, since 5.2 it's possible to customize context menus, so you can easily

As I mentioned in the bug report tagged as Duplicate of this one: how difficult
is it to check local drives that are connected and delete thumbnails for files
that don't exist? If the problem is network folders isn't it possible to ignore
files starting with \\ (or whatever separates network folders)?

Not from my side. You may reopen the ticket and see if someone agrees with you.
LibreOffice is F/LOSS meaning my opinion from the UX POV is just two cent worth
(unless I argue well enough and convince people).

Do not see any glitches on Windows builds on Windows 8.1 Ent 64-bit en-US with
nVidia OpenGL drivers.  No issues typing in text, and clean on/off toggle
+F10 of borders & hidden mark-up.

How about, as part of the open csv dialog, give the user the option to skip the
automatic row height calculations.  The delay makes it completely impossible to
use calc on these files.
