PrintPreview1 with zoom buttons and scaling factor widget circled

In the attached "PrintPreview1", I claim that the "scaling factor" slider
widget (circle (1)) is not visually clear as to it's purpose.

I originally clicked on the buttons expecting the behavior one gets when
clicking the +/- buttons in circle (2). When I did not get the desired visual
appeal, I thought again that maybe I was messing with the margins. It finally
dawned on me what it was doing (see "PrintPreview2", but it took me more than a
few seconds to kick myself from my preconceived notions.

I submit that this could/should be made more visually explicit before 3.5.
Unfortunately, I'm not a UI guy or I'd offer a suggestion.

This may apply to other LO components as well, but I was using Calc when I
noted it.

This screenshots were made with master. Last pulled commit:

MaximizedWindow

Often, the most expedient method to make a document manipulation is with a
shortcut button. Some buttons have a submenu of options; for example, the
foreground or background color buttons, or the borders button in Calc. If the
product (say, Writer) window is large enough, the button displays on screen and
a user can click it for a drop-down menu of options (say a color swatch).
(Example shown in attached image "MaximizedWindow".)

However, if the window is too small and/or the button is too far to the right
on the toolbar, then one must first access the button as a menu item of the
'>>' button (menu shown in attached image "SmallerWindow"). This means that
for buttons that have sub-items, like the borders button in Calc, the button is
useless.

I don't know the proper way to fix this issue. My first thought is to include
the submenu of available options as a further submenu, akin to what "Visible
Buttons" does with the right triangle in the "SmallerWindow" attached image.

While a was working on a major paper, the libreoffice continued to freeze the
entire ubuntu system. I run ubuntu on a lynux - system 76 laptop so nothing
wrong there. I would have to restart the entire system and hope my documents
could be recovered. Just now my document was said to contain an error upon
restart and could NOT be recovered.

Not cool that lirbreoffice freezes the whole ubuntu (11.04) system.

Table - Table Properties - Columns tab

The Help description for "Adapt table width" option reads. "Maintains the
current width of the table when you change the width of the column." This is
100% wrong.

The Help description for "Adjust columns proportionally" reads "Resizes the
table width in relation to the column width that you enter." This is more or
less true. The operation of the system when "Adjust columns proportionally" is
set probably requires a page or two of description.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42014] New: LibreOffice Preferences list change hangs with Moom running in Mac OS X Lion

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon

ReportedBy: jive.em...@gmail.com

LibreOffice hangs when selecting a Preferences item with Moom
(http://manytricks.com/moom/)running. Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74). MacBook Air
(mid-211). LibreOffice 3.4.3 OOO340m1 (Build:302). I get a beachball
indefinitely when trying select LibreOffice / Preferences and change from the
default top of list entry User Data to another item in the list with the
trackpad only when Moom is running. Moom is a window management App that
extends the maximize window button behavior too allow for fullscreen and tiled
windows. Interestingly, if I use the down arrow key to navigate down in the
list, I get a beachball for a short time, then the next item is selected.
Neither problem occurs if Moom is not running. I have to force quit Libre to
recover - quitting Moom will not allow LibreOffice to continue. There is a bug
report at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31919 that mentions a
problem with an accessibility app causing this or similar behavior. Thanks very
much.

Bug still remains.

Bug 40141 is very similar. It locks up the entire machine, only major
difference is that bug is IA64 wheras this is 32-bit.

Formerly, Firefox also locked the whole machine while browsing Google maps (ref
historical Bug 20682), The Firefox problems went away after upgrading
everything in synaptic, including Firefox 7.0.1.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42005] New: Calc Add-In functions can not handle parameters of "hyper" type.

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42005

 Bug #: 42005
Summary: Calc Add-In functions can not handle parameters of

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: Other

Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Extensions
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mgasdf...@poczta.onet.pl

Create Java Calc Add-In project in NetBeans. Create a Java function with a
parameter of type "long". Map this parameter in IDL file using "hyper" type.
Create and install an extension. Function doesn't work and parameter is not
visible in Function Wizard:

Java function:
==

   public int fName2(long p1) {
  return 42;
   }

IDL map:
=
   Java <=> IDL
   "int" <=> "long"
   "long" <=> "hyper"

   long fName2([in] hyper p1);

Workaround:

Use "Object"

   public int fName2(Object p1) {
  return 42;
   }

and it map as "any":

   long fName2([in] any p1);

It's not perfect because "any" type is visible as "optional" parameter in
Function Wizard.

Hello,

On a Debian testing pc x86-32, I tested with 3.4.3(340m1 build302) with
openjdk 1.6.0_23 and Java sun 1.6.0_21, it works fine. I tested with Debian
packages 3.4.3-3 et 3.4.3-4.

I discussed with someone on IRC who had the same pb. He told his versions but I
didn't note them cause I thought he would put comments there (I had told him
about this bug).

Coud you test again with last version to see if you can still reproduce the pb
?

LibreOffice 3.4.3 OOO340m1 (Build:302) (libreoffice 1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2), Ubuntu
11.10

1. In a Writer document or Calc spreadsheet, open the "File" menu.
2. Close the "File" menu, and focus the text field part of the Font Name or
Font Size combo boxes in the Formatting toolbar.
3. Type Ctrl W or Ctrl Q.
4. Click in the document.
5. Type Ctrl W or Ctrl Q.

What happens:
1. The menu contains a "Close" command with a Ctrl W keyboard equivalent, and
an "Exit" command with a Ctrl Q keyboard equivalent.
3. The document does not close, and the application does not exit.
5. The document does close or the application exits.

What should happen:
3. The document does close or the application exits.

This bug does not happen with all combo boxes. For example, it does not happen
with the Name Box in Calc's Formatting toolbar. But it does happen with the
Apply Style box for an HTML document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42000] WRITER: Character font cap height is not displayed on capital letters

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42000

--- Comment #1 from emir_s...@msn.com 2011-10-19 10:35:05 PDT ---
My humble opinion is, I guess it is time to switch to CoreText. With outdated
ATSUI functions I am even not sure if it is worth to fix this bug.

 Bug #: 42000

Classification: Unclassified

   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium

AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: emir_s...@msn.com

Created attachment 52528
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=52528
Letters Й and Ğ with fonts Helvetica and Lucida Grande

Hello,

This problem is present for several versions of Libreoffice and continues even
when Libreoffice was not around at all.

When I try to type a Turkish character like capital İ or Russian capital Й with
accent marks on it Writer does not display the accent mark. The accent mark
actually exists there, it is only visible if I select the word and continue
selecting to the upper line, or when I select "Print Overview" from the
toolbar. It also prints, but this is a very annoying visual glitch.

The problem is present on Mac OS X. It does not affect other Libre products
except Writer.

This bug isn't picked up yet and at least deserves some attention after a
couple of months. A lot of users are having the same issue with other themes,
for example Zukitwo GTK2/GTK3 theme (find it on Deviantart). I talked to the
author of the theme and this is his explanation:

==> Libreoffice doesn't pull the correct color from the gtkrc file. You should
report a bug to the libreoffice-gtk devs. The menubar seems to pull the color
from GtkMenu. It should pull the color from GtkMenuBar and the sub-class
GtkMenuItem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 32500] EasyHacks: GTK style doesn't draw some elements via GTK

Another element which looks quite alien is the "More buttons" button of
toolbars (see this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/wrIdl.png ).
I'm not sure how this could be themed, since there's no such widget in GTK, but
there needs to be a way for the theme engine to detect this widget and draw it
as it should. I'd suggest using g_object_set_data() with data set to a string
which would easily identify this button, and key set to somthing like
"LibreOffice.GTKStyle".

Currently vcl/inc/vcl/apptypes.hxx exports some enumeration values that are not
namespaced eg. INPUT_MOUSE and INPUT_KEYBOARD.

These conflict with global definitions of the same name on windows causing
annoying warnings.

We should add a VCL_ prefix to those types, and replace across the code-base:
just do a 'git grep INPUT_MOUSE' (and for each value in there) for those and
update them.

sample warning:

windows/solver/wntgcci.pro/inc/vcl/apptypes.hxx:59:0: warning: "INPUT_KEYBOARD"
redefined [enabled by default]
/usr/i686-w64-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/include/winuser.h:2471:0: note: this is
the location of the previous definition

I look forward to the patch ! :-) thanks ...

Current master stores svg images cloaked as .svm metafiles, with a preview

I have been trying to automate installation of LibreOffice 3.4.3 from a script
to silently deploy to multiple computers.

In our configuration applications get installed to D:\apps

It seems that the below msiexec INSTALLDIR parameter is ignored with the
current LibreOffice 3.4.3 Release package.

msiexec /i libreoffice34.msi INSTALLDIR="d:\apps\LibreOffice" /qr

I have tried with the standard Windows Installer 3 and I have upgraded to the
latest 4.5 installer. Both have the issue.

I think this is a problem with the msi package rather than the computers. This
is because other MSI packages happily install using this parameter.

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41987

 Bug #: 41987
Summary: LibreOffice hangs when "Save As..." tries to re-mount
previously used, but now inaccessible network volumes
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: rimh...@issole.net

This bug in LibreOffice exists since 3.3 (as far as I noticed):

When using the OS-X dialogs for "Save As ...", it tries to re-mount any
previously used network volumes, even when trying to save a local document.
This causes some considerable delay, and if they are inaccessible, a very long
delay or it hangs altogether.

When activating the option to use "LibreOffice" dialogs for file saving, this
does not happen.

But other programs on OS-X don't have this behavior, so it must still have to
do with how LibreOffice interfaces with OS-X.

This is running OS-X 10.7.2

On an aside, it would also be nice if the LibreOffice dialogs would associate
the Enter key with the default button (throughout).

Nominating "Bug 41985 - MinGW: UI display broken". We have some UI problems
making that version more or less unusable.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41985] New: MinGW: UI display broken

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41985

 Bug #: 41985
   Summary: MinGW: UI display broken
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Parallel installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
English UI [(Build ID: 052f181-5646d8e-3f8994a-4525197-38a31e0)]
(/daily/MinGW_cross-compilation/2011-10-18_22.56.49/) shows some ugly UI
damages I also observed with

Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.4.5 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
English UI, [(Build ID:d337f79-a24c961-2865670-9752b71-7f8fd43
2fdd60d-fd28b6a-fd7bf20-aa369cb-28da3fb
6a9633a-931d089-ecd263f-c9b55e9-b31b807
82ff335-599f7e9-bc6a545-1926fdf)]" in July:

Bug 39187 - Mouse pointer disappears instead of changing to "move arrows"
Bug 39710 - Blue vertical fragments in options menu items list
Bug 39456 - Ugly shadow fragments visible while drag - drop docked toolbars

It seems some improvements we had in "normal" Master are not integrated into
MinGW?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38327] Pivot table converts text values to numbers in column headers

2011-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38327

--- Comment #7 from Nikos 2011-10-19 01:09:28 PDT ---
I just found a workaround which seems to work for me (and probably explains why
this "bug" is ignored by the developers).
You have to change in the style "Pivot Table Category" the number format to
text.
This leads to the desired behavior in my case.

Nonetheless, in LibO 3.3 the default setting for this style is the same as in
LibO 3.4, but the behavior is different. I think that this should at least be
documented.
