i compared the .rtf source that is saved in both cases:

when switching the font to Arial the copyright sign is saved as

\u169\'a9}
(line 16 in attached arial.rtf)

when saving the same sign with times new roman the rtf looks like

\'a9}

(also line 16 in attached timesnewroman.rtf)

when manually adding the missing \u169 to the rtf source in timesnewroman.rtf
the sign is displayed correctly

rendering result comparison of Firefox and Chrome

webkit won't render frames of table borders of Calc/HTML.

The table frame borders are correctly rendered by Firefox/IE. But Chrome and
other webkit based browsers(Safari) won't render. See attachment image.

We found in the HTML output of Calc includes TABLE tag, and it states
FRAME=VOID. If this option is removed, webkit can correctly render frames of
tables.

This is reported by Kenta Terado at disc...@ja.libreoffice.org on January 7th.
And I confirmed it by reproducing it.

Though this is a web-browser issue, and not exactly a bug of LibreOffice Calc,
I suggest removing FRAME=VOID is easy way to solve this problem.

Resizing a flowchart with shapes using the resize shape to fit text option

1. Create two shapes in drawing with some text inside them
2. Enable the Resize shape to fit text option in one or both of the shapes
3. Select both shapes
4. Resize the group
5. Resize the group again
6. Try to undo

The more resizing you'll do, the worse the problem becomes. Flowcharts are a
particular problem with this bug. I am attaching 3 documents that display how a
flowchart using this option is completely messed up.

The correct behavior for shapes with this option enabled would be to prevent
resizing of the shape while allowing resizing of the other elements of the
group containing the shape.

As this problem cannot be fixed with the Undo command, it has the potential to
lead to serious formatting loss and thus I believe that the severity level is
Major.

Confirmed for me on Linux. Reading the wordcount patch I suspect it may be some
re-use of the:

 void ViewShell::SetCareWin( Window* pNew )

use / concept - at least Notes uses that too; as does the red-line merge/accept
changes dialog, as does the insert footnote dialog etc. Quite why Notes would
want to do that, I don't know. Sadly the commenting:

sw/inc/viewsh.hxx:static Window* pCareWindow;// Avoid this
window.

is not so lucid; needs a bit of code reading to try to work out what is going
on. I suppose the idea is to have only one window that you need to 'care' about
up at once ;-)

Hi Tristan,

I was actually looking into that recently as part of another project
and it's pretty easy. Basically ...

Sounds cool :-) any chance you can knock up a nice fragment of tested C code
that would do this for Linux under MPL/LGPLv3+ that we can couple up ? We'd
want to add that to sal/osl/unx/file.cxx (osl_syncFile) inside some #ifdef
LINUX guard I guess.

Then we'd want to add an osl_syncFile to the end of our export logic, which is
slightly more involved; I suspect ucb/source/ucp/file/filstr.cxx /closeOutput/
- anyhow - first steps first.

Turning this into an intermediate / easy hack with the above pointers :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44626] New: Copying a XY (scatter) chart with first row as label leads to incoherent data range

 Bug #: 44626
Summary: Copying a XY (scatter) chart with first row as label
leads to incoherent data range
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Chart
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: daniel.ma...@umb.no

1) Open Calc, mark cells A1:B2 and insert a XY (scatter) chart with data
series in columns and first row as label
= data range is: $Sheet1.$A$1:$B$2

2) Make a copy of that chart
= data range is: $Sheet1.$A$2:$B$2,$Sheet1.$B$1

This renders creating multiple charts with the same layout but different data
very difficult. After one has copied a chart and adjusted the data range one
always has to change the first (label) row back to the original. In the above
example I would change $Sheet1.$A$2:$B$2 to $Sheet1.$A$3:$B$3 and then would
have to revert $Sheet1.$B$1 back to $Sheet1.$A$1:$B$1 or my freshly copied
chart would become corrupted.

I noticed that LibreOffice sometimes recognizes a corrupted data range and
fixes it, but when the data range is more complex than in the above example
then data ranges get seriously corrupted and charts turn to garbage.

characters from the proposed display of characters ; once done for one
particular character the window desapear ; besides when reopening it maybe
neccesary to reposition the set of caracters by using the vertical slider ;
this is not at all very practical neither efficient.

2 posibilities :

(1) I propose with the layout of special caracters a way to maintain the window
open for further selection of special characters.
(2) I propose to give acces to the display of a keyboard layout where the user
can position its desired association special characters - keys with on a
default layout initially proposed (an extra keyboard on screen) for continuous
selection of characters.

Of course the idea to change te default language to spanish for example in KDE
with a choice of a spanish keyboard is unrealistic.

Regards.

Horizontal scrollbar in calc is broken in RTL interface. No
scroll handle is available, and the left and write arrows function incorrectly.

Current behavior:
1. The horizontal scrollbar shows no handle to drag.
2. Clicking on the arrows to the side of the horizontal scrollbar works, but
inversely. The right arrow scrolls to the left, the left arrow scrolls to the
right.

Expected behavior:
1. The horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of calc window should show a
handle.
2. Clicking on the right arrow should scroll to the right, clicking on the left
arrow should scroll to the left.

I reproduce the problem with LibreOffice 3.4.5 rc2, LO 3.5.0 beta2 and LO3.5.0
beta2+ (daily build : LOdev 3.5.0beta2+ Build ID:
cbb7814-7f15fca-9e804be-2d9b003) under MS-Windows-XP (VM)

But *not* with LO 3.4.5 rc2 under Ubuntu 10.04 (x86) and LO 3.5.0 beta2+ under
Ubuntu 11.10 (x86_64)

So it seems it is a MS-Windows only problem.

The Presenter console code lives in:

sdext/source/presenter/*

It was written by someone with no respect at all for the non-renewable resource
that is vertical space :-)

Which means there are five lines of blanks between each method, where there
should be only one: so you can see more on the screen at once.

That's quite annoying when editing - it'd be nice to fix :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44636] New: FORMATTING: DATE: match input against date acceptance patterns to recognize as date

2012-01-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 44636

patterns to recognize as date
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: er...@redhat.com

Scanning cell input is very lax regarding dates and recognizes much too many
patterns as valid dates, especially when it comes to abbreviated (incomplete)
dates, for example:

en-US: M/D is valid (day of month of current year), but also accepted is M/D/
and M.D and M.D.
de-DE: D.M. is valid, but also accepted is D.M and D/M and D/M/
Any mixture of '.' '/' '-' (plus the locale's date separator if it differs) is
accepted, e.g. 22.11/99 in a locale's DMY order.

In many cases this leads to forced dates if in fact the input should be treated
as text instead.

Implement a match against locale dependent date acceptance patterns to form a
valid date. Additionally, ISO 8601 -mm-dd input must still be valid in
every locale, a match against an already applied date format should be
recognized as well, if not contradicting.

Also found Opera 11.60 would not render the frame border.

(In reply to comment #1)
 Hi Takaaki,

Could you provide its original document .ods before saving it as .html?
 Thanks a lot.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44643] New: Difference in fractional font size handling in .ppt files, Impress vs. Powerpoint

2012-01-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44643

 Bug #: 44643
Summary: Difference in fractional font size handling in .ppt
files, Impress vs. Powerpoint
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mat...@caltech.edu

Created attachment 55386
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=55386
example PDF with fractional font sizes (exported from Inkscape)

LO 3.4.4 release
MS PowerPoint 2003
Windows XP SP3

1. Create a drawing with fractional font sizes (not integer points) in
Inkscape, save as PDF.
2. Import PDF in LODraw
3. Copy drawing
4. Paste drawing into LOImpress
5. Save as .ppt file.

The resulting .ppt file has the following issues:

1. In LOImpress the text looks as it did in the PDF but the font sizes are
improperly displayed as whole integers when the text is selected. That is,
text
which is 12.8 points is said to be 13 points.

2. When the .ppt file is opened in PowerPoint (2003) the font sizes are
identified as the rounded to the nearest integer values AND they are also drawn
that way.

Consequently, the resulting .ppt file does not look the same in Impress and
PowerPoint.

Clearly Impress is storing the fractional font sizes in the .ppt file somehow,
but however it does this isn't being honored by PowerPoint. Ideally the .ppt
store would be done in such a way that Powerpoint can use the fractional font
sizes. Otherwise at least throw a (specific) warning.

Prntscreened fullsreen window with n on the last row, where should be ň

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. enable fullscreen view
2. write letters with diacritics, but not pre-defined on keyboard, only letters
which needs to hit diacritic first and letter second. I write in czech language
and on cs keyboard we have letters such as s, z, c with hook above, but when i
need type n or d with hook, i need type hook first and the letter second and in
that case, this problem occurs.

Current behavior: the key with diacritic symbols (hook and comma) appears like
not working at all, when I hit it and then hit letter key, it writes letter
without diacritic and it is not problem of graphic, the diacritic simply isnt
there (spellcheck shows red underline). This behavior appears only in window,
that is or was in fullscreen mode and only in libreoffice software suite (i
tried writer and calc) and what is interesting, since i enter fullscreen, the
diacritic dont work in that document window even if i leave fullscreen mode, so
entering fullscreen possibly crash something permanently. If I keep this
document opened and open new one, in new document the diacritic works, so it is
only problem of window, that was in fullscreen.

Expected behavior: when hit diacritics key and then letter key, libreoffice
write letter with diacritic.

Platform (if different from the browser): LibreOffice 3.4.3 OOO340m1
(Build:302) under Debian Squeeze. Pretty common setting of LibreOffice, except
using of my own defined toolbars, using of quickstarter and disabled loading of
java runtime.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko)
Chrome/16.0.912.75 Safari/535.7

Version LibreOffice 3.3 aufspiele funktioniert alles wieder reibungslos.

Officeversion genutzt.

Ich hoffe auf eine Lösung und verbleibe

mit freundlichen Grüßen
Raimer Ettmer

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44648] New: Properties of bulleted text are not saved

2012-01-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44648

 Bug #: 44648
Summary: Properties of bulleted text are not saved
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: malocas...@hotmail.com

The formatting of outlines is not preserved when saving. The color of text and
bullets changes, making the presentation unreadable. I tried fixing it in the
slide master, but those changes are not saved either. This applies to some of
the pre-made slide designs.

This is unfortunately a major bug. I can't use it for presentations at all
because they formatting changes and it's completely unreliable.

- Create a new empty presentation
- Choose a slide design. I tried Blue Lines and Gradients and Blue and
Grey. Both have this problem, probably others.
- Make a slide using the default outline (bulleted) layout
- Save the document
- Open the document. The formatting of everything but the first line will be
gone. The text and bullets will be a different color, usually black, often
unreadable against the background.
- Click View - Master - Slide Master.
- Highlight the outline text box and hit the Bullets and Numbering button
- Change the bullets back to yellow for all levels and click OK. Nothing
changes.
- Highlight the text and change the font color. This actually does get saved.

The bug appears not only on the specific file, but in all my doc files, after
some libreoffice upgrade. Saddly I cannot recall in wich version upgrade of

I have
LibreOffice 3.4.4
OOO340m1 (Build:402)

the bug appears both in amd64(in my desktop) and x86 (in my laptop)
both in archlinux

I prefer not to install anything (3.5b) in my pc. I prefer not to install any
beta version in my pc , because I use them at work.
Can you wait for LibreOffice 3.5 official release to test it.
If not, and you want to close the report before 3.5, let me know, to see what I
can do.

Thanks

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44654] New: libreoffice-kde should not store recent files list in config directory

2012-01-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 44654
Summary: libreoffice-kde should not store recent files list in
config directory
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial

 Component: UI
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: myusualnickn...@gmail.com

I am attempting to create an /etc/skel so my users have a good default setting,
and I can't just copy the kde config directory to /etc/skel.

I am running ubuntu 11.10

.kde/share/config/

[KFileDialog Settings]
Recent Files

This said, you guys are awesome in using the $HOME.

This is something that changes often, and is not normally something people want
in their startup. Some people may want it, so you may want to read from it
still, but it is simpler to just move it to the data directory.

(I don't know where the data directory is)

See KDE bug 290675

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44656] New: FORMATTING: Display real border thickness while browsing files...

2012-01-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44656

 Bug #: 44656
Summary: FORMATTING: Display real border thickness while
browsing files...
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: xavierpoiro...@gmail.com

It would be very nice to implement this somehow basic feature, which is to view
and differenciate the border thickness DIRECTLY WITHIN the Editor, and not only
in the Print's preview...

Borders thickness are very helpful to categorize documents, organisation etc...

Please implement this.

Right now, even with 3.5.0 Beta2, if I have border 3mm or border 0.25mm, it
displays the same border size on the general editor, differences can only be
seen with printing.
