When this problem has been reported we had similar problems for open SVG and
import SVG. For import we have had great progress in between, most problems
have been solved. So I close this rather general report for imports.

Please file new VIEWING reports for remaining import issues (Insert picture
from file) and, of course, for the many remaining FILEOPEN problems.

 Hi Vaughn,
You shouldn't do that : I'm facing exactly the same trouble under LibreOffice
Base 3.5.0rc3 with Win Seven HP SP1 64 bits.

Hi,

Did you remove/rename your LO user profile (with all LO processes stopped,
including any quickstarter), then restart LO and try again ?

Please also state your Java version.

Alex

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47298] New: use margins to visualise changes

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47298

 Bug #: 47298
Summary: use margins to visualise changes
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jor...@gmail.com

One of the last reasons I still have to resort to using MS Word from time to
time is that the traditional method of visualising changes inline is causing
too much clutter on the screen and makes it very hard to read the text I am
proofreading. Therefore I would like to recall OpenOffice issue #9661 which
has been around for ten years now:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=9661

It is great that LibreOffice now display comments in the margins. The same
should be done for changes, and I feel it should be done sooner, rather than
later...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47299] New: CALC: Escalating when re-calculating a huge number of crosslinked cell functions (EDITING, FILEOPEN, FILESAVE)

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47299

 Bug #: 47299
Summary: CALC: Escalating when re-calculating a huge number of
crosslinked cell functions (EDITING, FILEOPEN,
FILESAVE)
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: klauspeter.schm...@gmx.de

Created attachment 58421
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=58421
Zip archive with 4 files for the decribed testing scenario

In the case a CALC document consists of a huge number of cells which contain
sheetwise cross-linked cell functions, LibO's runtime seems to escalate and
leads to extremely slow performance and/or freezing/blocking of the GUI for
many seconds or minutes.
The effect concerns LOADING DOC, RECALCULATING on cell change event and SAVING
DOC.
It looks in such a way, as if at any time ALL cells are computed instead of
recalculating/refreshing only the changed and depending cells.

It also slightly remembers old BUG 40650, but directly 43804 and 47106.

The given example will IMHO reproduce the effects.
Test conditions of the following benchmark data:
OS: Windows Xp Pro SP3
CPU: Intel Core i5-2410M 2.30 GHz
RAM: 3 GB
COMPARED APPLICATIONS: OpenOffice 3.3.0, Excel97 and LibO.

Effects reproduced with LibO 3.4.3, 3.4.5, 3.5.0RC3,
LOdev3.5.2RC-nightlyBuild20120312 on WindowsXpSP3
AND LibO 3.5.0RC3 on Windows7Pro-64bit

Test:
Step 1: download zip and extract files
Step 2: try File 1 with OpenOffice
Step 3: extract File 2, and try xls with Excel97 or OpenOffice
Step 4: open File 1 with LibO
Step 5: change to sheet Ansicht and edit cell Y9 with Value 50 as displayed
in screenshots Files 3 and 4

Benchmarks:
LibO 3.5.0/ods
OPEN376 s = 6 min 16 s
CALCULATE30 s
SAVE257 s = 4 min 17 s
(OPEN with 355 s remaining at progress bar message Adapt row
height/Zeilenhöhe anpassen)

Excel97/xls:
OPEN 5 s
CALCULATE 1 s
SAVE 3 s

OOo 3.3.0/ods
OPEN37 s
CALCULATE5 s
SAVE17 s
(OPEN with 25 s remaining at progress bar message Adapt row
height/Zeilenhöhe anpassen)

Attachment: test-escalation-at-cross-linked-cell-functions.zip
contains
File 1: linked_tabs-many_formulas.ods
A simple stock management document, migrated from xls to ods, using many
cross-linked table formulas e.g.

I can agree with that, and I'm afraid this slow down of computing time directly
affects LibO's acceptance to be the software of choice when migrating xls to
ODS.
OOo computes faster at the moment than LibO concerning the same ODS having this
LibO-effect.

NOT reproducible neither with
-- LibreOffice 3.4.5 (OOO340m1, Build:502) nor with
-- LibreOffice 3.5.1.2 (Build-ID: dc9775d-05ecbee-0851ad3-1586698-727bf66)
both running on MacOS X 10.6.8 and both with German langpack installed.

What I did:
I opened the sample file, clicked into the table, pressed Cmd-A, then Cmd-C,
then selected 'New Spreadsheet' from File New, then pressed Cmd-V. (Cmd has
on MacOS the same function as Ctrl or Strg on Windows.) Voila!

What has happened:
No crash; the table is copied completely into the spreadsheet; the layout is
not perfect, but all data are present.

@Timur:
Could you please give the exact steps you use to reproduce the bug? Am I doing
something different?

This could also be an OS-related bug ... maybe something 64bit specific?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47257] Templates not handled correctly

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47257

--- Comment #1 from wdeh...@exalondelft.nl 2012-03-14 02:03:20 PDT ---
We experience a similar problem. We use templates (.ott) with a logo in the
header. The logo is a draw object. When opening this template with libreoffice
3.5 or up the draw object is 'broken' e.g. some parts of it have bee moved
around. With older versions (3.2.1) there is no problem.

The weird part is that when I rename the file to .odt and load it the logo is
fine.

It would be desirable to insert Slide names instead of slide numbers in
slides.
so, having something like Insert-Fields-Slide Name would be desirable.

As an extension, a feature similar to writer's Insert-Fields-Other could be
looked at.

There are helper functions depending on the context of the code.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47303] New: FORMATTING: Behaviour of Options Basic Fonts (Western) is not transparent

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47303

 Bug #: 47303
Summary: FORMATTING: Behaviour of Options Basic Fonts
(Western) is not transparent
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de

Problem description:

In order to illustrate the problem some steps (Only the basic font Default is
considered here, other basic fonts behave equal):
[1] Start LibreOffice and open a new text document (Doc1).
[2] Tools Options... LibreOffice Writer Basic Fonts (Western) Click
Default in order to start with the same initial situation.
[3] Choose another Default basic font (Font1), then OK.
[4] Open another new text document (Doc2), then open Options dialog again.
Font1 is displayed as Default basic font.
[5] Choose another Default basic font (Font2), then OK.
[6] Change back to Doc1 and display options again. Font1 is displayed as
Default basic font. I expected Font2, hence in step [5] the font has been
changed to Font2. Go on either with [7a] or [7b]
[7a] Click Cancel.
[8a] Open a third new text document (Doc3). Guess which font is now the basic
font! It's Font2, though one step before Font1 is displayed as current basic
font.
[End]
[7b] Click OK.
[8b] Open a third new text document (Doc3). Now Font1 is displayed as basic
font. Then OK.
[9b] Change to Doc2. The basic font is Font2 although Font1 is displayed as
current font in step [8b].

First I was rather confused and it took me a long time to understand this
behaviour. I am still not sure if I understand everything correctly:
(a) Always if you change to or open an existing document the fonts of the basic
paragraph styles (Default, Heading,...) of this document are displayed.
(b) If you change the font of a basic paragraph style with the Paragraph Style
dialog, the changed font is afterwords also displayed in the option dialog.
(c) Always if you create a new document, those fonts are used, which have been
acknowledged lastly with OK. This may be a long time ago.
(d) The only way to display the options is to create a new document.
(e) If you change the options (with OK) the basic paragraph styles of the
current document are also changed.

Proposal in order to prevent the confusion:
(a) Change heading of this option category to Basic fonts (Western) of new
documents.
(b) The basic fonts of the current document should no longer displayed in the
options dialog.
(c) The check box Current document only can be dropped.
(d) Introduction of new tab Basic fonts (Western) in Properties dialog (Menu:
File Properties...). In this new tab the basic fonts of the current document
are displayed and can be changed.
(e) In the options dialog a hint Viewing and changing basic fonts of current
document go to: Menu: File Properties... Tab 'Basic Fonts (Western)' or
similar could be useful.

I did not check the behaviour with option categories Basic Fonts (Asian) and
Basic Fonts (CTl). I expect an equal behaviour as described above.

Problem exists also in Version 3.4.5.

Hint: In bug 43786 I described a similar problem with an option, which is used
as a property of a document.

  - it is not related to macros, I have a lot of documents, which make
libreoffice crashing sometimes
  - there is a difference if I open the document libreoffice direct, by
clicking on the icon
(here are the crashes are often) or if I open the document with File-Open
(then it will not crash)
  - it crashes normally only if there are a some other application are running
  - and (of course) no crash if I'm (or the soffice.bin) attached to WinDbg...

I have absolutely no Idea how to provide better and useful information on this
issue.
Would be much easier to get a crash report directly from LO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46716] Some formulas are lost by DOCX import filter.

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46716

--- Comment #22 from ape os...@yandex.ru 2012-03-14 06:48:40 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #21)
Closing this bug as too confusing. Please, open new bug as suggested at
 http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/libreoffice/2012-March/028113.html

My English and Google Translate do not allow the interpreter to explain to you
one simple thing: LibreOffice can not create within the ODT-archive folder with
the contents of all OLE-objects, which were placed in DOCX-file, and creates
these folders only for some objects. The mechanism of passage I do not
understand, any OLE-object, regardless of its type ( image or formula) may
be lost. Most often, lost objects, starting with the second, if DOCX-file are
located in a row, one after another.

 However, using DEV-LibO-3.5.2rc0 (Win-x86 @ 7-MinGW), I found a workaround:
 1. Open DOCX.
 2. DOCX Save as FODT.
 3. FODT reload.
 4. FODT save as ODT.

P.S. For me the issue is cleared. What to do next - is the solution for
programmers.

in 3.5.1.2 on Windows XP 32 bit Russian locale problem is only on first page
IMHO there is frame in upper left corner with text. And it placed slightly
outside of page. Word allows placing object outside of page, Writer not allows
and moves all objects that appears outside of page. So page becomes corrupted.
I can not investigate, how it done in Word in this page because document
protected by password. But if frame with text has option Auto size then it's
size will depend from size of text, which depends from installed in OS fonts.

So, wrong displaying of this page may be not bug, but missing feature of
Writer. Placing frame outside of page not allowed yet.

This has nothing to do with SVG

The clear and simple problem is some kind of embedded Vector Graphics rendering
issue. I extracted the logo by saving BFAV_Briefvorlage_2seitig.dot from LibO
3.4.5 as BFAV_Briefvorlage_2seitig.odt, renaming it to
BFAV_Briefvorlage_2seitig.zip and comparing found
23D04C8B2637A32CB0F8.wmf with bfav_briefpapier_v5_1.wmf

bfav_briefpapier_v5_1.wmf:
Looks fine for FILEOPEN DRAW and Insert Picture from file with DRAW and WRITER
with LibO 3.4.5 and LibO 3.5.1 RC

23D04C8B2637A32CB0F8.wmf:
Looks fine for FILEOPEN DRAW and Insert Picture from file with DRAW and WRITER
with LibO 3.4.5, but always scrambled with 3.2.1RC

I am pretty sure that all other observed issues are related to this one. I do
not belive that further investigation will be required.

@Jochen:
Bug 38848 - FILEOPEN: VIEWING LibreOffice_external_logo.SVG view cruelly
damaged indeed has some similar effects (misplaced elements), but I doubt that
thes2 2 bugs are DUPlicates

@all:
It would be interesting ot know whether that problem is limited to that one and
only logo.wmf or whether more or less all wmf in MS WORD documents are
affected.

or?

Same result.

- Reinstalling dotnet (developer edition, x86 x64)
No improvement
- Reinstalling windows installer is not on option on windows 7

After some people confirmed the problem I wrote about, I am a bit puzzled since
it is not clear to me if this a problem for all or for a restricted number of
installs. Nobody with any authority to do so has certified this bug as real or
not, actually. But my puzzlement is perhaps due to my being used to Openoffice
bug reporting process, and this works differently here. I just do not know.

And it is to me unclear as well whether incoming upgrades (3.5.1) have this
same problem solved or not... how can I know if it is sensible to install
them?? I have tried to look into the fixed bugs list, and I think I did not
find any mention.
So perhaps this is a problem worrying only the dozen of people reporting it
here, and to nobody else in the world??
Anybody knowledgeable enough please help... thank you

Problem description:
See the screenshot. I've moved the scrollbars to their terminal positions, and
instead of just getting to the corresponding end of slide, I have the slide
almost go away from the viewport.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create an empty presentation
2. Move vertical and horizontal scrollbars to terminal positions
3. See slide almost go away from viewport

Expected behavior:
Scrollbars shouldn't appear when the slide is fully visible in the
corresponding direction, and scrolling shouldn't be possible in this case (the
slide should be centered in the viewport in this direction).
Also, it'd be really useful if when the slide is fully visible, mouse scrolling
switched one slide up/down, like it used to be in MS PowerPoint.

I can't reproduce the original problem (type in cell and input line is not

I suspect that the original problem may be due to the fact that in certain
conditions (I don't know which...) the formula bar updating become very slow.
However, I think it may be a different problem after all.

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47313

 Bug #: 47313
Summary: Installation fails with non alpha-numeric characters
in program path
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 RC2
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bellga...@iftc.uni-hannover.de

I tried to install LibreOffice in parallel to older version as a network image
by using the DOS command

msiexec /a LibO_3.5.1rc2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi

into a folder named d:\$temp. Short before the installation finished the
following message appeared:

MS Visula C++ Runtime Library
Program ...\unopkg.bin
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it
in an unusual way.

Starting soffice.exe then also led to an error message. This behavior was
caused by the $-sign in the path name, which is actually a permissible
character for a Windows path. After removing that $ from the path by a rename
operation soffice.exe could be run! I suppose that other non-alpha-numeric
characters cause the same problem. But another user reported ( or ) worked
for him in the path name.

When the installation path contains no $-sign the installation finishes
successfully.

A similar problem can be found for LO Portable. This also fails to run when
being installed into a path containing $.

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from harald-koes...@htp-tel.de 2012-03-14 09:54:16 PDT ---
Additional Problem:

If you create a new HTML document the Default basic font is used for nearly all
predefined paragraph styles. The other basic fonts are not used in HTML
documents. If you change this basic font 'Default' while displaying a HTML
document the fonts of this document are not changed. This is different to text
documents where the font is changed, when you save the options.

Expected behaviour: Hence there is a separate category for HTML documents
(LibreOffice Writer/Web) I expect, that the options under Basic Fonts
(Western) have no influence on HTML documents.

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46519

--- Comment #15 from 0ru...@gmail.com 2012-03-14 10:32:25 PDT ---
First of all, for the record, I advice everyone NOT to remove those folders
like I did, since I have several programs totally not working now!

Andras, I fail to understand how it will use the latest versions, since in your
link it states to remove áll of those folders, which of course include the
latest versions.
Anyway, it didn't help even with the latest ones.

Next trial (without putting those folders back yet):
I had 3 Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 entries in Remove programs
(Redistributables I think), removed them and restarted.
Still not installing.

But you are talking about 2008? I hope that doesn't mean I had to remove VC80
folders and not VC90? Since your link points to a problem of VC80 and proposes
to remove VC80 folders, I gathered that for a VC90 problem VC90 folders should
be removed. Which ones did you remove?

I think after 2 man-days working on this problem, some fix in some next version
is very welcome.
I am giving up. I am going to a corner now and cry.

Thanks for trying though!

Reproducible with a fresh master build (Build ID:
9e6b086-f89f0d1-e67b1bf-879ce36-638d9c) under Ubuntu 10.10 x86.

As a workaround:

1. save docx to fodt
2. close and reopen this fodt
3. save it to odt

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47314] New: Cannot use shortcut key ALT-Q in Hebrew keyboard layout - CONFIGURATION L10N

2012-03-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47314

 Bug #: 47314
Summary: Cannot use shortcut key ALT-Q in Hebrew keyboard
layout - CONFIGURATION L10N
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.0 Release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@m.hd1.org

I'm using two keyboard layouts - US and HE. In HE layout, the Q key produces /.
I defined a keyboard shortcut ALT-Q to change paragraph style. When typing in
Hebrew (HE keyboard layout), pressing ALT-Q fails to change the paragraph
style. Defining the same paragraph style change to keyboard shortcuts ALT-E and
ALT-W works fine. For the sake of completeness, in HE layout, the W key
produces ', while the E key produces a Hebrew letter. Also, it did not matter
if the shortcut was defined for LibreOffice or Writer.
