[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47394] EDITING Document mode icon for write protected documents does not enable editing of objects

2012-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47394

--- Comment #1 from afunk...@ig.com.br 2012-03-27 18:20:20 PDT ---
Just tested the files attached by the OP by opening them in LO 3.4.6 and LO
3.5.1 and the actual issue is somehow different. Actually they are just
"read-only" files without password protection, but that isn't relevant to the
issue. What happens is that while objects in the text document are promptly
selectable and editable (after activating the "edit file" icon) the objects in
the spreadsheet are just apparently unselectable and uneditable. For some
reason we cannot select or activate them by clicking with the mouse nor through
the Navigator. At least until we activate "Tabelle2" (second sheet of the file)
bringing it to the foreground and then clicking again in "Tabelle1" (the sheet
with the objects) so that is is displayed again with its contents. Now all
objects become selectable and consequently editable...

So the actual issue is not that objects remain readonly after Spreadsheet
leaves readonly mode, but the impossibility to focus/select/edit the objects in
the active sheet when the file is opened in read-write mode, which can be
worked around by changing focus to a different sheet then return focus to the
relevant sheet...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47969] New: RTL (CTL) should be enabled by default

2012-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47969

 Bug #: 47969
   Summary: RTL (CTL) should be enabled by default
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Localisation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: mightyiamprese...@gmail.com

Support for RTL, including those directionality controls, should be enabled by
default, regardless of the user's locale.

This is because many RTL users choose a non-RTL locale and are then left
wondering where the RTL controls are.

Here's the description from downstream Ubuntu bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/927931
---snip---
This is concerning the usability issue where an RTL user gets in front of
LibreOffice and doesn't find the two directionality buttons in the toolbar
(OMG!!!). He won't find them anywhere until he does 8 mouse clicks to turn the
RTL feature on:

Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages -> Enabled for complex text
layout (CTL) -> CTL: -> OK

My mom can't do this :-/ .

This is how this happens:

CTL is off by default in LibreOffice, and thus RTL is, too.

As I've been briefed, this is how it gets turned on for RTL users
automatically:
1. RTL locales
2. A language support package of one of the RTL languages is installed

The problem is that these two triggers for CTL don't cover all the situations
where an RTL user runs LibreOffice.

Many RTL users choose a non-RTL locale. They can also choose not to install any
of the language support packages. The presence of an RTL language layout is all
that indicates their RTL-ness :) Even when RTL users use a friend's/public
computer as guests they expect the RTL buttons.

Then, why make RTL off by default? Does it cost a lot of memory? Does it have
bad Karma? :)

The expectation to have those RTL buttons is because they seem to be always
there in Microsoft Office since as far as I can remember. I never had to turn
anything on. They were always there by default.

In order to understand the severity of this issue, let me tell you what users
do when they don't find those RTL buttons. They try to configure the toolbar,
thinking that they must be disabled there. They find them enabled, actually.
Although enabled in the toolbar, they don't appear :-O . After that they're
quite lost so they might go to the correct Language Settings -> Languages
configuration section. There, they will not find "RTL" or "Left to right". How
would they know whether to enable the "Enhanced language support" for Asian
languages or for Complex text layout? Most users would lose a few hairs by that
point.

---snip---

Thanks and blessings,
Shahar

This is not the same bug as #41807, which reports a crash when either ROW() or
COLUMN() are used in an array formula. This one surfaces whenever both
functions are used in an array formula (see attached file), producing #VALUE in
all cells except the top left one.
This still happens in the 3.5.1 release.

I agree, it was what I had in mind when I suggested to close this bug report.
Same thing with old staroffice formats (.sdw, etc.)

--- Comment #7 from Michael Pardee
2012-03-27 13:21:36 PDT ---
I manage about 1000 computers that this is causing problems on - the huge
number of print jobs created when a user prints multiple copies is slowing down
the printers and causing problems with print release software that lets users
confirm and pay for print jobs before they are printed. I realize that most
home users might not notice the difference between one multi-copy job and
several individual jobs, but in larger environments it is a huge problem.

I wonder if this is the same as bug 46904 which seems to be attracting a little
more attention:
https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=46904

Any advice on how to patch this or work around it without user intervention
would be greatly appreciated. Currently it looks like the only solution is to
go back to version 3.3.4.1

I just tested this with version 3.3.4.1 and the problem does not occur.
Testing with 3.4.0 and 3.5.1 showed the bug. The base system is Ubuntu 10.04
and the problem occurs with .debs grabbed directly from libreoffice.

Diffing the source from 3.3.4.1 vs. 3.4.0 shows
libreoffice-3.4.0.1/vcl/unx/source/printer/cupsmgr.cxx had a few changes that
look relevant, but I'm in way over my head here:

 bool bUsePDF = false;
cups_dest_t* pDest = ((cups_dest_t*)m_pDests);
const char* pOpt = m_pCUPSWrapper->cupsGetOption( "printer-info",
  pDest->num_options,
  pDest->options );
if( pOpt )
{
m_bUseIncludeFeature = true;
bUsePDF = true;
if( m_aGlobalDefaults.m_nPSLevel == 0 && m_aGlobalDefaults.m_nPDFDevice
== 0 )
m_aGlobalDefaults.m_nPDFDevice = 1;
}

...

if( rJob.m_nPDFDevice > 0 && rJob.m_nCopies > 1 )
{
rtl::OString aVal( rtl::OString::valueOf( sal_Int32( rJob.m_nCopies ) )
);
rNumOptions = m_pCUPSWrapper->cupsAddOption( "copies", aVal.getStr(),
rNumOptions, (cups_option_t**)rOptions );
}
if( ! bBanner )
{
rNumOptions = m_pCUPSWrapper->cupsAddOption( "job-sheets", "none",
rNumOptions, (cups_option_t**)rOptions );
}
}

Hardware: Dell XPS M1350 Laptop, Windows 7 Home premium SP1, Processor Intel
Core2 Duo T5550, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT.

I have a presentation prepared on 24th Jan 2012 on the previous version of
Impress to the current v3.5.1.2 (sorry I can't get back to the previous version
to find its version code).

The presentation worked perfectly before this new version but now will not
function. Symptoms as follows:

1. odp file opens satisfactorily with Impress.
2. Pressing F5 starts the show but no pictures are visible. Sometimes text
shows but font and format seem to be lost.
3. Paging down seems to go to the next slide but not show it (escape key takes
me back to Impress at a different slide selection).
4. Attempting to play a video file crashes Impress but it saved the files for
recovery.
5. Picture slides are jpg files.
6. Video uses avi files.

All I did was download and install v3.5.1.2 and the presentation now does not
work. I have changed no settings during or since the update.

If you do:

$ git grep -3 'i97876'

You can see all the instances where someone [!] has cut/pasted a bunch of
near-identical code to emit UNO callbacks on the model.

This needs to be turned into a (perhaps several) pleasant helper functions on
the model and all mention of that issue expunged.

Bonus points are awarded ;-) for a clean solution that doesn't involve client
code having to emit the model's signals itself - while keeping the reasonably
efficient single emission for multiple ranges functionality :-)

Thanks !

If you fire up your editor and read:

cui/source/options/optcolor.cxx ...

This is the tools->options->appearance widget.

At a minimum it is necessary to laugh at: ColorConfigCtrl_Impl(this, CUI_RES(
CT_COLORCONFIG ) )) - and the hideous member functions, and laborious code in
there.

We should have a little loop to construct the array of widget pointers on the
heap: new FixedText(...); etc.

We should use a struct to store each of the three elements, instead of multiple
separate arrays, we should simplify all the logic in this big heap.

It'd also be a nice idea (as a 2nd, optional thing) to re-use a standard widget
if there is one, instead of this custom, hacked-up, manually scrolled mess :-)

Thanks for dunging it out !

Unfortunately, this was not the case for me: On Arch Linux x86_64 with
libreoffice-kde4 package installed, when I type a filename with .doc extension
the file type changes to "Microsoft Word 6.0 (.doc)".

I strongly disagree. If Word 6 exists as an export format, it should not be
dangerous to use! This bug implies a data loss when a document is saved in Word
6 format, which is, in my opinion, unacceptable. If you can't support it, just
drop it altogether.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47954] New: FILEOPEN: VIEWING of picture anchored as character with unexpected distance to border

2012-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47954

 Bug #: 47954
   Summary: FILEOPEN: VIEWING of picture anchored as character
with unexpected distance to border
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.3.0 Beta2
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59119
Test Kit

This issue has been reported in "Bug 39928 - VIEWING: pictures in particular
.doc shown wrong, picture size correct, but contents shrunken and surrounded by
white margin" by Olivier Berten. Many observations are similar here, but I
believe it's a different bug.

Steps to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.5.1.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:
dc9775d-05ecbee-0851ad3-1586698-727bf66] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
and Olivier Berten's sample

1. with MS WORD VIEWER
   > picture border is shown without distance around LibO logo
2. With LibO
> picture border is shown with distance to LibO logo (check context menu
  "picture -> borders")

Old problem, also in 3.3.0, inherited from OOo

Another sample
1. Open attached "sample352.odt" from test kit created with LibreOffice 3.5.1.2
   > you see various pictures (rectangle with smiley)
2. Save as "sample352new.doc" and close
3. reopen with LibO
   Expected: all same size
   Actual: pictures with border looking smaller

Click pictures one by one, you will see that control points at pictures with
border have some mm distance to picture (instead of 0,5mm as in source). The
border itself is invisible, that is an other issue (may be Bug 46563 -
FILEOPEN: Missing or wrong line width borders of pictures in doc-documents (MS
Office 97, 2000, XP))

I do not observe this problem for pictures anchored to paragraph
(sampleLibO330.doc).

Might be related to "Bug 44337 - FORMATTING when FILEOPEN .sxc: border
distances to cell contents differ from original distances".

When printing a odt with a mailmerge field the it was showing more items to
print than it should have. The datasource had 371 item but mailmerge was
showing 401. When I scrolled down the list at about item 40 I noticed some
entries from the beginning of the list had been duplicated. See print screen
that shows the datasource having 371 but the mailmerge is showing 401 for the
same table. If you try and print you get the 401 items.

I found that if you click on another table than back to original mailmerge then
shows the 371 correctly. Also if you do any sorting or filtering it seems to
remove the duplicates.

I have attached a sample odt, odb, txt, and jpg.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47810] EDITING: Inserting comment in a slide freezes mint 9

--- Comment #2 from maximo.fr...@gmail.com 2012-03-27 10:08:59 PDT ---
Thank you very mcuh for your attention.

What I mean is "Insert" (in "File, Edit, View, Insert..." bar), and the option
is "Comment Ctrl+Alt+C". "Notes" tab works OK also in my system. However, I've
tried this morning on a fresh install of Linux Mint 9 in a different PC (not my
laptop) and it worked; not only that worked, but also bullets on/off in text by
clicking the icon in upper margin (that did not work in my laptop).

It happens with any kind of presentation, even a new ("empty") one.

In the "fresh" system, I simply removed openoffice and installed normally
libreoffice 3.5. The only difference in that process with my laptop is that,
previous to libreoffice 3.5, I had installed libreoffice 3.3 and 3.4 in laptop
(obviously, other differences are the number and type of applications installed
in every device and differences in hardware). Any suggestion about any
dependence that could be lost or malfunctioning?

Thanks again

What do you exactly mean by adding a comment? Do you mean a sentence in the
"Notes" tab? It works here.

Also, do it happen with a particular or any presentation?

Whatever the issue is, I suspect it is whatever issue led to the same problem
in 3.3 as reported in Bug 36950.

On a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit I installed LibreOffice 3.5. I came to
find that windows search would not index the contents of LibreOffice files,
.odt files in particular (I don't have any other).

Windows file indexing utility reports "Registered iFilter is not found" for all
LibreOffice file types. A simple in-place upgrade to 3.5.1 and re-index did
not resolve the issue.

This is correcting my earlier bug report.
I am running under Windows XP with service pack 3. I just downloaded the latest
version of LibreOffice and installed it.

When I try to open a Power Point file, the file will load but the only screen
that I get is black. There are no pictures. If I right click on the
presentation, I do get all the standard options but all the listed pages are
black. I have no way to stop the presentation and try to fix it using the
presentation edit functions. When I go to exit the last page of the
presentation it completely leaves LibreOffice.

Narrow buttons not accomodating German text length.

The "Next Record" and "Previous Record" buttons in Calc's Data Form aren't wide
enough to accommodate the corresponding German text "Nächster Datensatz" und
"Vorhergehender Datensatz" (s. attachment).

The "simple" solution would be to simply drop the redundant "Datensatz" and use
"Nächster" (Next) and "Vorheriger" (Previous); otherwise button enlargement
would be necessary.

My current system settings (which would necessarily affect this):
LibreOffice UI: Scale 100%
OS (WinXP Pro SP3):
- Screenresolution: 1280 x 800, 96 DPI (no enlargement)
- Font type/size/weight for dialogs: MS Sans Serif, 10 pt, normal

telman@telman:~$ libreoffice --version
LibreOffice 3.4  340m1(Build:402)

telman@telman:~$

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a large CALC document in LibreOffice.
2. Make some minor changes.
3. Close LibreOffice.
4. You will be asked to save an unsaved document.
5. Accept save choise.

Current behavior:

As the above mentioned Calc file is too large, the OS (Ubuntu) will advise to
user a "Force Quit Popup" choise with the following content:

"The window "RAPOR_2011_12_31.XLS - LibreOffice Calc" is not responding.
Forcing this application to quit will cause you to lose any unsaved changes."

[Cancel,ForceQuit] choices are presented here

Expected behavior:

It was the user choice to save the unsaved too large document
and he made the decision to wait "the save operation" to be finished.

There is no wrong behavior to present the force quit popup.

it is superfluously wrong decision of OS or LibreOffice. I am not sure wich one
do it. anyway, I gues the apps and os make the common decision on this.

If we guess that the current behavior is true then the same "force quit popup"
should be presented in case of user save decision w/o previously close action.

conclusion: the Force quit Popup should not be presented to user in case of
saving too large document with the precided close action.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47944] New: Unable to insert ods document in Microsoft Word

2012-03-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47944

 Bug #: 47944
   Summary: Unable to insert ods document in Microsoft Word
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: maxime.dero...@linagora.com

How to reproduce the bug :
- install LibO and create a simple ods,
- open Microsoft Word,
- insert > Object > "create from a file",
- choose the ods file.
The ods is include as a icon.
- install OpenOffice,
- retry to insert the document in Word.
It works.

I don't know if it's a Word or a LibO bug but I guess it's related to the LibO
installer.

I already try to modify the registry to force Word to insert ods files as OLE
elements (I tried to match the LibO install to the OpenOffice install) but my
modification make Word crash…

Hi.

This is a new bug (since version 3.5.1.2?):

1) Fill A1:A10 with some data,
   say, A1 = 1; A2 = 2 .. A10 = 10;
2) Group rows 3..5 with F12
3) Mark row 4 to be moved later
4) Alt-Drag cell A4 with the left muse button
   far out of the group, say, to row 20.
5) WRONG result:
   The group still occupies lines 3 .. 5, but it should
   hold now rows 3 and 4.
   A5 now holds the number 6 which didn't belong
   to the group initially.

I work a lot with grouping / outline, F12 / Ctrl-F12,
and I've to switch between OpenOffice at work and LibreOffice
at home. The same files are edited with different versions of
OOo, LO.

Now I've found that my files will be corrupted with LibreOffice 3.5.1.2.
(Build ID: 350m1 (Build: 102).

Thanks,

   Andreas

Theres is a problem with the images in LibreOffice Calc.
One you put a picture in a cell, there is an option that lets you fix the
picture to the cell or to the page.
No matter if you choose fix to the cell, and save document.
Later when open again the document, this fixing returns to default "page
fixing". Never stores the "fix to cell".
I am using Spanish version, in which menus are called:
Format
- Anclaje
   - A la pagina (this is default)
   - A la celda
