[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48449] New: EDITING: Fill Handle does not fill with series, but with source number

2012-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48449

 Bug #: 48449
Summary: EDITING: Fill Handle does not fill with series, but
with source number
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO Master
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de

Created attachment 59662
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59662
sample document

Steps how to reproduce with parallel installation of Master LOdev
3.6.0alpha0+ – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID:
4495824-6299bf6-ec8645] (tinderbox: Win-x86@6-fast pull time 2012-04-08
00:03:52):

1. Open attached mysample21.ods from LibO Start Center
2. Click E15 (containing 1)
Cell cursor around E15 with Fill Handle at the bottom right cell corner
3. Move mouse pointer to fill Handle
Mouse pointer view changes from Arrow to small cross
4. Press left mouse button, drag mouse pointer to E20
5. Release mouse button
   Expected: E15 ... E20 Filled with 1 ... 6
   Actual: all filled with 1

Reason for the behavior is the active filter below A1: header.
Removing filter will heal the unexpected behavior

Problem does not appear if row 3 has been hidden by Hide (row) (context menu
on row header)

Making visible hidden row marking rows 1...10, right click row header 7,
Show
will not heal the problem (but will work after save / reopen)

Might be this would be a useful feature, but IMHO not a Bug

I see the requested function rudimentary with parallel installation of Master
LOdev 3.6.0alpha0+ – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) ENGLISH UI [Build ID:
4495824-6299bf6-ec8645] (tinderbox: Win-x86@6-fast pull time 2012-04-08
00:03:52):
a)If the cell cursor is below a cell with contents,
b) control+d will fill selected cell with contents from cell above.
c) But not, if empty cells are between.

'c' fills the selcted cell with Empty contents from cell above, you see that
with 'Undo' after 'c'.

This 'Fill with neighbor cell contents' alos works from Edit menu and there for
all ifll directions.

@Vlad
Please explain
- why you believe that it's useful (Competitor's behavior, ...)
- why you also want that for fill down, not for other fill directions

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48456] New: : when searching for a number, the formatting of it is considered

2012-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 48456
Summary: : when searching for a number, the formatting of it is
considered
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: philip_hofl...@hotmail.com

Created attachment 59669
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=59669
A screenshot (I made sure the cell contains the value and not a formula)

Problem description:
When I search for 65.536 (European format, so it means sixty-five thousand
five hundred thirty six) it cannot find 65.536 (the same number as it is shown
in the spreadsheet) I have to search for 65536 in order for it to find the
number, even though I got the 65.536 string I initially searched by copying
the value of the cell which contains 65536.

Steps to reproduce:
1. type 65536 in a cell
2. make sure the formatting of the cell is set to -1.234, so that it will
show 65536 as 65.536
3. copy the content of the cell
4. paste it in the search box
5. search for the number

Current behavior: LibreOffice cannot find the number pasted in the search box

Expected behavior: LibreOffice finds the number

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/11.0
I use the dutch version of LibreOffice.

This request is not quite clear. LO finds and replaces local formatting.
Anyway, I recommend Alternative Find Replace extension.

FindReplace with regular expressions, but it's Enhancement, and thus not a

Side note:To make the solution more comprehensive, it would make sense to also
add a check box for the 16:9 format in the presentation wizard (File - Wizards

Please see https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=53523 for the proposal
in OOo.

I think that this would be a very useful addition to the methods of laying out.

The original issue contains good examples and a rationalle for not using text
boxes/frames.

I think that the mechanism for this is similar to that required for run-in
(inset, in-line) headings, but that the examples in the original issue explain
why it is not the-same-with-outdenting because of word flow within the margin.

Can I cross-reference this idea to

Which would have had the advantage of separating UI and product development,

I made the following two proposals for OOo:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=28510
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=28511

The first was to allow the fill characters to be aligned vertically with each
other down the page in an index table, the other to allow them to be greyed (or
transparented).

I would like to see LibreOffice doing something about this, particularly the
first one. In printed books fill characters are arranged in a neat matrix,
line below line, not spaced off the end of the index word.

Excel-sheet with malformed external links

libreoffice:
  Installed: 1:3.5.1-1ubuntu1~lucid1
  Candidate: 1:3.5.1-1ubuntu1~lucid1
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.5.1-1ubuntu1~lucid1 0

In LibreOffice Calc 3.5.1-1ubuntu1~lucid1 (PPA) and 3.5.2-1 (Debian unstable)
there are problems with malformed links to external Excel-sheets.

Make a source.xls and a merged.xls.
Type in source.xls

Make in merged.xls
[C1]diff
[C2]=B2-'file:///tmp/source.xls'#$sheet1.B2
[C3]=B3-'file:///tmp/source.xls'#$sheet1.B3

The sheet merged.xls shows now in [C2]14 and [C3]23.

If you close merged.xls and reopen it, you get a message … contains links …
should they be updated? and an error.
=B3-'file:///tmp/tmp/source.xls/'#$sheet1.B2

The path-name was saved (or reloaded) wrong into [C2] and [C3].
As LO-users will/must cooperate with MSO-users, they can't use LibreOffice 3.5
because the malformed links to external sheets.
To let all switch to ods-sheets is not an option at the office.

There is no work-around atm with other formats like xlsx.

I tested in 3.4.4 links to other sheets - works fine there (tested with
Oneiric). (I heard also about normal behaviour in Debians LibreOffice calc
1:3.4.6-2.)

libreoffice:
  Installed: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1 0

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
1:3.4.3-3ubuntu2 0
500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages

Can we go back to the behaviour of 3.4.x to make/save/reload links to external
sheets?

mmhhh it seems that the huge database related typing freeze is not gone
yet... I still experience this in LibO 3.5.1 and 3.5.2...

I thought that dezsi's patch which fixed the old OOo autocorrect replacement
table loading time issue, had an impact on the current issue as well...

he told in Comment 1 that it did, so I closed the issue...
but now I'm going to reopen since it's still here...

if I put the previously attached huge acor_.dat file in my User\LibreOffice
3\user\autocorr folder, the freeze happens

if I remove it, the freeze does not happen again.

tested with LibO 3.5.2 on Vista 64bit.

Patch to have the add-to-dictionary-button add the word to the dictionary
without the pupop when only 1 active dictionary.

I have created a patch to enable this.

The problem however is that the dropdown-arrow at the button justs adds the
word to the dictionary. It won't dropdown the list. I think to change that
wouldn't be a easyhack as you´ll need to change the menubutton-item.

Ok, I think I found it.

Looks like memory corruption when adjusting row and column heights in the auto
format code. I suspect that i need to create a local copy of ScMarkData to
prevent changes that invalidate the iterators.

I need to investigate that further.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48446] RTF Importer does not honor ansicpgN and cpgN control words - fails to import some non-Englist documents properly

--- Comment #1 from Urmas davian...@gmail.com 2012-04-09 10:04:16 PDT ---
Also note that some RTF software stores font character set incorrectly as
ANSI_CHARSET for some national fonts. At least, the standard Windows fonts
({Times New Roman|Arial|Courier New}[ CE| Cyr], Japanese, Chinese (Simplified
and Traditional), Korean and Thai) should have that field corrected to ensure
proper import. Same problem may exist for Arabic/Hebrew documents, which may
contain legacy charset values.

Ideally there should be a way for user to provide a font mapping table to
define a proper charset for custom fonts people could have used.

Still this is clearly a bug in the installer then. It should remove that file

This is not an issue with the installer. The installer does not have access to

--- Comment #33 from patle...@gmail.com 2012-04-09 10:52:43 PDT ---
As it is now it is a big of the installer, a designer-bug! Whether LibreOffice
actually really still needs that javasettings_Windows_x86.xml at all is
another question. And if that file is not needed anymore, since LO recreates it
when missing it is still up to the installer to remove that file in an upgrade
install!

And this is not about messing around with a users profile Sven, but setting up
the needed environment for the program and configuring it properly. That also
happens, and rightly so, in the users profile and registration, etc. And if an
installer shouldn't do all of this, then I ask you, Sven, what an installer is
good for instead ;)

Just downloaded 3.5.1rc2 from the pre-release folder and I have no problems,
 just like 3.5.1rc1.

kghose: Since 3.5.1rc3 has not even been tagged yet, reading your message is
 very confusing.

@vossman: I cannot check on Mac, but according to your report I set this to
fixed.
thanks for reporting updating!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47520] ODBC with sqliteodbc: primary key field mostly empty, broken scolling

2012-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47520

--- Comment #3 from Terrence Enger lo_b...@iseries-guru.com 2012-04-09
11:52:34 PDT ---
I have succeeded in demonstrating the first described problem with

ubuntu-natty (11.04) 32-bit
libsqliteodbc version 0.87.2
libsqlite3-0 version 2.8.17-6build2

and LibreOffice master commit 1199713, pulled 2012-04-01 and
configured with

--disable-mozilla
--enable-symbols
--enable-dbgutil
--enable-crashdump
--disable-build-mozilla
--without-system-postgresql
--enable-python=internal

Here are the steps. Of course, change the name of my working directory
/home/terry/lo_hacking/notes/bug_047520/ to something that you find
convenient.

(1) Download the attached file init.sql to your working directory.

(2) In your working directory, use the attached file init.sql to
create an example database:

$ sqlite3 bug_047520.db
SQLite version 3.7.4
Enter .help for instructions
Enter SQL statements terminated with a ;
sqlite .read init.sql
Error: near line 5: no such table: byNr
Error: near line 6: no such table: byTs

Alternatively, download the attached database, bug_047520.db.

(3) Observe the created tables.

$ sqlite3 bug_047520.db
SQLite version 3.7.4
Enter .help for instructions
Enter SQL statements terminated with a ;
sqlite .mode column
sqlite select * from byNr;
1 2012-04-06 12:34:56.654321 Friday
2 2012-04-05 13:45:57.123456 Thursday
sqlite select * from byTs;
1 2012-04-06 12:34:56.654321 Friday
2 2012-04-05 13:45:57.123456 Thursday
sqlite .quit

(4) Define bug_047520 as an ODBC data source referencing the SQLite
database bug_047520.db. I attach screenshot from ODBCConfig. The
stanza in my .odbc.ini reads ...

[bug_047520]
Description=timestamp primary key
Driver=SQLite3
Database=/home/terry/lo_hacking/notes/bug_047520/bug_047520.db
Timeout=10
StepAPI=No
ShortNames=No
FKSupport=No
SyncPragma=NORMAL
JournalMode=DELETE
LoadExt=

(5) Create LO database file ...

(a) From command line, source ooenv, and then `soffice.bin
--base`. Program displays Database Wizard Step 1 of 2 Select
Database with default selection what do you want to do? =
Create a new database.

(b) Select Connect to an existing database. Program extends the
list of steps to four steps and enables the dropdown list of
existing databases.

(c) In the list of databases, select ODBC. Program displays ODBC
as the selected existing database.

(d) Click Next . Program displays step 2 of 4 Set up ODBC
connection.

(e) In Name of the ODBC data source on your system, type
bug_047520, and click Next . Program displays step 3 of
4 Set up user authentication.

(f) Click Test Connection. Program displays message box
Connection Test ... The connection was established
successfully.

(g) Click OK. Program returns focus to Database Wizard.

(h) Click Next . Program displays step 4 of 4 Save and
proceed.

(i) Select No, do not register the database, leave Open the
database for editing selected, and click Finish. Program
presents Save dialog.

(j) Type Name Play1, navigate to your working directory, and
click Save. Program displays window play1.odb with Tables
selected; the lower right pane shows tables byNr and byTs.

(6) Observe good results from the table with an integer key.

(a) Double-click byNr. Program displays window byNr - play1 -
... Table Data View. Observe two rows of data. I attach
screenshot.

(b) Close the Data View. Program displays window play1.odb.

(7) Observe bad results from the table with a timestamp key.

(a) Double-click byTs. Program displays window byTs - play1 -
... Table Datata View.

Actual result: No data is shown. I attach screenshot.

Desired result: Two rows of data shown.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48475] New: CONFIGURATION: Trouble with Roman Numerals

2012-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48475

 Bug #: 48475
Summary: CONFIGURATION: Trouble with Roman Numerals
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.1 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: jojiinchr...@gmail.com

Problem description: When writing a list with roman numerals, on roman numerals
7 and 8, there is an unnecessary amount of space created which looks
inconsistent with the other roman numerals.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write Roman Numeral 1
2. Write something random next to Roman Numeral 1
3. Press Enter
4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you get to Roman Numerals 7 and 8

Current behavior: An extra space is created between the roman numerals 7 and 8
and the word next to it.

Expected behavior: Either make the words adjacent to the roman numeral or place
all the words next to roman numerals straight so it would look consistent.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/11.0

Hello,
I have the same problem with Windows version (LibeOffice Draw 3.5.2.2).

Just try to do steps Fitting Text to Frames from
http://help.libreoffice.org/Draw/Adding_Text

It doesn't work, but it worked with earlier versions (I don't know wich version
exactly, but I used this function few times before).

When you open old file (created with earlier version LibreOffice Draw) you can
still stretch text in frame by resizing the frame, but you cannot create new
objects with stretched text like this in attachment.

Best regards,
Piotr Kowalewski

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48481] New: Check Parent LibreOffice Process For Deadlock On Second Document

2012-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48481

 Bug #: 48481
Summary: Check Parent LibreOffice Process For Deadlock On
Second Document
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Libreoffice
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: drich...@largo.com

The first process run per user of LibreOffice becomes a parent process and each
additional document that opens is a child of that process. If the parent
process deadlocks for whatever reason each attempt to open a new document
simply starts a new process with no UI that appears. The user has no
indication that this has happened and can do the same step repeatedly. On a
standalone computer, a user would probably just reboot; but this will not work
on a server.

I'm not a developer, but will explain it to the best of my knowledge. We are
requesting infrastructure in Libre so that child processes ping the parent
for a response of some type and only attempt to continue opening the file if
the parent responds correctly. If the parent fails and is deadlocked, it would
make an attempt to cleanly shut down the parent (maybe grabbing a backtrace?)
and then go through the normal document recovery mode.

This issue has been around for many years including with OpenOffice, but have
confirmed that it happens with Libre too.

Thank you.
