If it replaces 1345-1430 with 13.45-14..0, it is data loss. If you replace data in large documents and you do not notice, it might be very annoying. Please stop fighting about this bug. We are not in a state where we need to spend time on such long discussions. Developers are clever. They could filter few bugs that does not belong here. After all, this is just a helper bug. The Reconfigure-mechanism of defined cell references (i.e. moving automatically fixed cell references depending on row/col-delete/insert-actions) should be consistent for direct cell references (e.g. $C$8) or NAMED ones as shown in Screen Video. This is at the moment a great migration obstacle from Excel to LibO because of the danger of losing all used NAMED references in table functions only by inserting/deleting rows or columns. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38261 --- Comment #6 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-04-18 02:01:42 PDT --- Just to show that Timur is not the only user interested in this enhancement request, I would like to state that this issue is very important for me, too ... Why? An example. Some months ago, I had to typeset a proceedings volume (a 'Sammelband' in German). I would have used LaTeX for this job, but for some external reasons I had to use a word processor; so I used Writer. In the long process of making uniform all chapters (regarding spelling/orthography, interpunctation, abbreviations, citation, formatting etc.), the present Regular Expressions feature of the Find Replace function was very very helpful for me. Thanks for it! But some special issues were not handled by the Regular Expressions feature as it stands; in some cases I remember I had to open the ODT file with BBEdit in order to search with advanced Regular Expressions for some remaining issues, and then to fix every occurence in Writer manually. If Writer's Regular Expressions feature was better, I could have just used Find Replace to fix these errors ... This would have saved me some hours of work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Here's my summary of what the enhancement could look like: - Introduce a way so that values typed in a field in filter form by form or in a condition line of query's design mode are treated as patterns to match instead of as values to match. That is, if one types A, the generated filter (query WHERE clause) is colName LIKE 'A' and not colName = 'A'. - That way should be *optional*. Should it be a global preference (in tools/options/base)? A per-form/query checkbox somewhere (e.g. next to execute query directly and in the navigator, respectively) ? - IMO the only sane way is that the decision to treat as value or as pattern is made at the time the value is typed; if the checkbox is changed, all typed values stay as they are. That is, if the option is enabled, and one types A, then it is immediately (and visibly) changed to LIKE 'A'. Open questions: - Should this happen for all column (field) types or e.g. only for (var)char columns? Does it make much sense to filter a numeric column by pattern? My opinion about this enhancement request: if people want it, I'm not really opposing it, but I'm also not quite championing it. I *strongly* require that filter by form and request design mode behave coherently, that is the change should not be done for only one of them. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37361] LibreOffice 3.5 most annoying bugs
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37361 --- Comment #284 from Timur gti...@gmail.com 2012-04-18 02:38:04 PDT --- First, I thank you all for spotting and fixing all those bugs, and especially for opening bug like this one. What's clear here is that's about bugs, and not enhancements. I'd like to discuss 2 issues, I apologize if it's already been done. 1. Most annoying bugs is relative, we don't have all the same opinion about what's most annoying. If it's like this, where is the limit, or this should mean all bugs? I'm not aware of some bug that is little annoying and thus not here. My opinion is that all bugs should be tracked, although some minor and hard may not be fixed. 2. LibreOffice 3.5 has releases. Although in bug itself it can be seen in which release it will be/was fixed, it'd be convenient to see it also here. For example, to see fixed in 3.5.1, fixed in 3.5.2, etc below Depends on. If it's a feature of Bugzilla, there should be some aggregating meta issue there, with that option, for bugs like this one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. So we have several bug. Sorry for may previous comment. I confused rows and columns. Steps to reproduce: 0. Will be useful for creating chart when all data on sheet intended for diagram. Will create problem when when on sheet is another information. Therefore should be option for disable/enable this functionality. 2. place cursor in cell B2 , right mouse click, Insert from context menu, Entire row Expected: new row included into chart Actually: not included. The same situation by inserting rows by another means. It is another bug or functionality request. 3. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37361] LibreOffice 3.5 most annoying bugs
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37361 --- Comment #285 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz 2012-04-18 03:41:26 PDT --- IMHO, it currently works the following way: If you add a bug here, you send a message to developers. Hey, this is something that people really hates in this release. It annoys many people and discourage them from using this application. This is something that you should solve ASAP. Developers look at the bugs and fix them if possible. Note that developers are in CC in many other bugs, read mails, have other tasks from other people, have their personal life. They maintain their own priority lists. So, this bug does not enforce anything. It is still only a helper tool. Though, it seems that it works pretty well. My view of why we need this bug: First, any software has bugs and we can't fix everything. Any fix could potentially create another bug. Also we could not make everyone happy. Some people might like a feature that annoys other people. We can't make everything configurable because it would be hard to maintain all options. Even if we make it configurable, people will fight about defaults. So, we will always have any bug reports. Next, this bug won't be needed if people set severity and priority correctly. Unfortunately, it does not work in a real life. If a person gets into a state that she reports a bug, she is often quite annoyed and wants a solution quickly. The bug is often quite important for the person, so she tends to set high severity and priority. One the other hand, some people does not know about this setting and they use the default values. All this can be corrected by people doing the bug triage who see many bugs every day and could better prioritize them. Unfortunately, we do not have enough people this time, so many bugs still have the severity and priority set by the reporter. So the query for all bugs does not show the most annoying bugs on top. Finally, this bug is a workaround for the above problem. It is mostly updated by people doing the regular bug triage. They know the bigger picture and do their best guess what belongs here. They try to do not include their pet bugs. Of course, everyone has its own opinion. Also this bug is opened for anyone. Well, I think that it has worked quite well so far and we do not need any complex rules. IMHO, the name most annoying bugs set the right feeling in most people ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. If we mention too many bugs here, we will create another swamp of ideas and developers will ignore it. I am not sure where are the limits. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42126] Can not edit/add/delete/modify criteria in Database Form filter navigator
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42126 --- Comment #4 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk 2012-04-18 04:14:44 PDT --- (In reply to comment #3) Hi, In navigator I select word V Or, then place values into form, then palace cursor in another cell of form for apply last value. In Navigator appears result of this input. After this values in Navigator can be edited. New criteria also can be added. When I place mouse cursor over Navigator, appears extended tooltip with explanation how to use. Works as explained. Reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.2 on Fedora 64 bit Sorry if I misunderstand problem. I can not edit or add a new filter condition directly to the navigator without first having entered a condition in one of the fields of the FormFilter. If this is the expected behaviour, as indicated in the tooltip, then yes, that works. However, when you do this, a new Or condition is created in the tree hierarchy of filter conditions. I can not edit this second condition directly, ie. by double-clicking on it, or by calling up its context menu, which only gives me the option to Delete (and which in fact does nothing). So, the conclusion is that you can only edit a condition in the Filter Navigator after you have entered a condition in the FormFilter for each and every field that you want to set a condition for. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48528] UI: Recent Documents list stays empty
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48528 --- Comment #12 from info.kal...@valaiscom.ch 2012-04-18 07:41:28 PDT --- *1: The file I uploaded is the result of these steps and about two weeks of normal use of LO. *2: Yes, the old .libroffice/3 folder does contain a MIGRATED file. And there is a .openoffice.org folder as well. *3: So this time, I can tell exactly what I did: delete .openoffice.org AND .libreoffice (no open LO window at that moment), start LO Writer, Ctrl+O, open document, close (Alt+F4), open another document over Nautilus. Open Recent is empty. Close Writer, Open Writer without opening a document, Open Recent is empty. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48878] New: UI: MySQL (Native) Problems
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48878 Bug #: 48878 Summary: UI: MySQL (Native) Problems Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: LibO 3.3.0 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Spreadsheet AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: jive.em...@gmail.com Problem description: Can't seem to connect to MySQL in Calc. The Database properties - Additional Settings dialog Socket field is a bare text box that is missing a filesystem browser button to select a socket file, i.e. /usr/local/zend/mysql/tmp/mysql_sock. I'm not sure this field is even available using the initial database connection wizard pages; I went in and found it after trying to create a connection using a MYSQL (JDBC) connection and having it fail (after a long time looking at the spinning beach ball), then going in to the connection properties after Calc loaded and choosing MySQL (Native). Then, the Finish button never became available. Please see attached screenshot. I tried to search for existing bugs, but couldn't see a way to on the web page I was offered. Also, the Browse button on the bug submission page doesn't work - it may be Ghostery in Safari on OS X Lion. Steps to reproduce: 1. Try to connect to MySQL in Calc. 2. 3. Current behavior: Fail. Expected behavior: Be offered the option to select a socket file, and create a database connection. Platform (if different from the browser): Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50d) The version text in the OpenOffice / About menu is not selectable to be copied, but it says: OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 OOO330m20 (Build: 9567) Safari Version 5.2 (7535.18.5) Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_7_3) AppleWebKit/535.18.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.2 Safari/535.18.5 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
