https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37361 --- Comment #291 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl 2012-04-20 00:25:44 PDT --- (In reply to comment #289) Should I add more bugs (I can easily add a 100 more). Yes and no. Bugs that belong here, pls do. However: I do not believe in doing it 'easily'. Since, steps in the correct work flow are: - reproduce, - test impact, workarounds, - query BugZilla for related and the same or closely related issues which may lead to do some bundling of issues - in case of doubt, consult others via the QA list But any bug that is really a problem, and that is not yet visible here: pls do. We have had issues in the past, that were in BugZilla for months, turned out to be very nasty, and were not recognised fast enough, but discovered just because I (or someone else) was confronted with a similar problem and did the work in BugZilla. So finding those bugs, is important and more helpful than adding just a load of bug numbers to this MAB. Insert a video (avi or other) by clicking in the video symbol in the center of a slide: the video is inserted as a black rectangle with a ? mark. 2. Launch the slideshow: LibO crashes when it comes on the slide that contains the video. Workaround : remove LibO 352 and re-install LibO 346 ! LibO 346 plays the video during the slide show without a problem ! For developers: if adding new features to a software breaks many features that were working perfectly in the previous version, I think you should change your development methods. This is not serious! From my point of view, LibO 35X has too many regressions. Here are some regressions that are unacceptable for me: Impress slideshow: -ugly picture of group objects. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47592] FILEOPEN: Print range not loading in some file(s) whith link to another file
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47592 --- Comment #8 from ron gregor rgre...@wcnjcd.com 2012-04-20 06:12:53 UTC --- (In reply to comment #6) @ ron, (Sorry that it took me some days..) (In reply to comment #5) There are 2 files. The first file has a print range defined. The print range will not load when the first file has links to a second file. I have no idea why the links are effecting the loading of the print range as these two items should be separate. Ah now I see. You don't have the print range as link. Sorry, that was not clear to me. Just so you know openoffice always loads the print range so this points to the problem being in libreoffice. I'll attach my test files. Created in 3.5.2.2. I cannot reproduce the problem with new files. But if I add a print range to your 1709BP manual.ods, save and reopen, indeed the print range is gone... Maybe there's more with your file, or with the links? It is not (purely) that within the print range cells are linked to the cells that are linked to the other sheet. Anyway, when I change that to my test file, it still continues to work. Any idea what could be special at your file? Can you reproduce it with new (simple) files ? thanks, Cor I have created 2 new test files and the print range is not loading. I was able to open your sample files and the print range did load. I am running Win Xp and have seen this problem on 3 different systems in our office. I have some additional information that will help. I had an Mac OS X alias to an SMB server among a list of folders that contain most of my LibreOffice documents. Thus, when I accessed either an open or save dialog box in LibreOffice, that alias would be visible in the list of folders that I would be accessing. At that point, LibreOffice would mount that server on the desktop. Understand that simply having that alias file in the open/save dialog box would prompt the server to mount--I didn't have to click on it. And, if I set my LO preferences to use native open/save dialog boxes (instead of the Mac OS X version), this didn't happen. Further, no Mac application that I own will mount a server just because an alias to that server appears in an open or save dialog box. Also, the question as to what happens if the server is not available: A message is displayed saying that There as a problem connecting to the name of server server. My workaround is not to have an alias to a server within a directory that I'm likely to access from a LO open or save dialog box. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38983] Word Count counts incorrectly with dashes and other separators
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38983 --- Comment #10 from Jamee Mikell jamee.mik...@gmail.com 2012-04-20 09:21:49 PDT --- Comment on attachment 60399 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=60399 Example of outline spreadsheet described in comment 9. re: comment 8 It's possible I could figure out LO's macro language and object structures. I have developed (and currently maintain and enhance) macros in VBA for Excel, and made a living coding C and learned a little Python for a couple of small side projects I did, and used various other languages off and on, so it isn't like I have no programming background. But I'd rather be writing fiction, and I haven't found much to help me understand LO's macro language or object structure. I didn't find any extensions or such that offered more sophisticated word counting. The one or two examples I found rely on the underlying (flawed in my opinion) word count method or implement the same method in their own code. To be honest, though, if I did write a macro, I'd write it to look for a specific section break identifier (e.g., eol#eol) that would be entered as part of a dialog and then report word count data for each section. Or use bookmarks and count between bookmarks. Probably other options for defining breaks too. In the end, I decided this issue wasn't going to get solved in a way that meets my needs any time soon so I modified my outline spreadsheet for this writing project. See attachment OutlineExample.ods. Each time I edit a section (part of a chapter), I run the default word count and record the LO word count and the count of characters including spaces on the section's row in the spreadsheet. I sum up the two sets of numbers--LO words and characters--at the end of each set of sections and report LO words and char/6 and char/6 and char/X, where X is a value I determined was a reasonable estimate of characters per page based on sampling several comparable books. I can also estimate char/6 given char for any single section if I need to. This helps me balance the size of books and, to a lesser extent, sections and chapters. If someone would like to write a macro or extension or enhance LO to facilitate more sophisticated word counting methods that fiction writers and others who care about word count might find useful, I would be grateful. I occasionally make changes with find/replace across the whole document, which requires going recounting each section to update the count data. But as I noted, I'd rather write fiction than spend a lot of time figuring out how LO's macro language works and how the Writer objects work and such. If I already knew LO's macro language and objects, it would probably be a different story. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
