This one seems to be more or less concerning the same problem (or at least an
other aspect) of Bug 48494 - CONFIGURATION: Path settings not persistent

I can confirm reported problem with latest WIN Master Builds.

@Bjoern: This is a Master bug related to the completely new file dialog, that
can't be checked with 3.5

Yes, you can select the paper size in the Format/Page menu. However, I think
this information is not send to the printer driver, because the printer
output is clipped.
If the paper size would be correctly recognized by the printer driver I don't
think there would be any problem.

(In reply to comment #289)
Should I add more bugs (I can easily add a 100 more).

Yes and no.

Bugs that belong here, pls do.
However: I do not believe in doing it 'easily'.
Since, steps in the correct work flow are:
 - reproduce,
 - test impact, workarounds,
 - query BugZilla for related and the same or closely related issues
which may lead to do some bundling of issues
 - in case of doubt, consult others via the QA list

But any bug that is really a problem, and that is not yet visible here: pls do.
We have had issues in the past, that were in BugZilla for months, turned out to
be very nasty, and were not recognised fast enough, but discovered just because
I (or someone else) was confronted with a similar problem and did the work in
BugZilla.
So finding those bugs, is important and more helpful than adding just a load of
bug numbers to this MAB.
Thanks for your help!

Title changed to be less misleading.

I can confirm that Roman's experience matched mine very closely.

However, it should be borne in mind that at some size, a background task
becomes uninterruptible besides taking all the CPU it can get. A lot of
pagination has to be done on such a large table; could it be anything to do
with that?

Screenshot of pasted 01-02-2012 (February 1, 2012; dd-mm-) in LibreOffice
Calc version 3.5.2 dutch (nl) locale

When pasting a date (e.g. 02-06-2012) with an ambiguous format (dd-mm-),
LibreOffice Calc pastes a value 02-06- (in dutch locale year=jaar, hence
the J) and displays 02-06-JJ.

When pasting a date (e.g. 13-06-2012) with an unambiguous format (again
dd-mm-), LibreOffice Calc pastes the correct value and displays 13-06-12.

First seen this bug in LibreOffice 3.5.0 Release, still a bug in LibreOffice
3.5.2 Release. Always used dutch (nl) locale.

same option active? Click does not add the checkmark? No difference whether
checked or not? Please use clear and non-ambiguous descriptions - and please
 attach the requested screenshot.

 'Tools options load/save Microsoft office'

In my LibO 3.4.4 on Ubuntu 11 64bit (Virtualbox) the checkboxes in
 'Tools - options - load/save - Microsoft office' and
'Tools - options - language settings - writing aids'
The checkboxes look ugly, some of them are shown without right border of the
checkbox (for example writing aids - Hunspell SpellChecker), for some of them
additionally the bottom border is missing (for example writing aids -
openoffice.org New Thesaurus). In the second example additionally the bottoms
of the p and g in openoffice.org are truncated.

Yes, exactly those. Since I know this bug persists in all distros (I tried
that), I though the devs could see it themselves.

Might be Linux only (and may be related to other circumstances), I do not see
the truncations with LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID:

when you use the application frequently and/or remember the shortcuts. In that
case it does improve your productivity. If I use some application rarely,
usually I don't remember it's invisible features, so in that case I prefer
availability through visible means like menu items or buttons.

Digging into the problem, I found that it is because I have no Base installed.
But in this case, the error message should look like This document uses Base
Forms inside. Install Base before opening it. Or it should be just a warning
message, giving me this document without Forms.

Thanks for additional information
With separate Find and Replace buttons I need to move the
cursor up and down between them again and again, which is annoying.
If we will have button Replace Find Next and will not move cursor and not
use keyboard, we all the same will replace all occurrences of text.

May would be better have something like Replace with confirmation which
replaces text if we press Enter and not replaces if we press, say, space
button. It is easy to remember, how to use it and easily to use.

In any case, it is up to developers to decide, how it should be. We only
collect new ideas.

That worked better with server installation of LibreOffice 3.3.3 German
UI/Locale [OOO330m19 (Build:301) tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1] on German WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit), there the preview appears after I have clicked on the picture
in the slide (same with OOo).
Still reproducible with 3.5.2 and Master

I wonder whether that also is reproducible in DRAW, can someone try to create a

Not as much a bug as an enhancement request. Please can the program whether
writer, calc, or impress only offer the 'Recent Documents' of a type relevant
to that program (as in MS Office). I tend to write a lot more .doc than .xls so
when I open calc there are no recent documents relevant to calc so I have to
browse. Can't be that hard and could be switchable?

So, with the attached .pptx around slide 20 we end up doing...

XCreatePixmap (dpy=0x202e400, d=optimized out,width=187690, height=187580,

which will fail cause that's just way too large

I'm stumped by this one, but I attach a debugging patch and some debugging

Replace with confirmation would also be great, although it's bit unconventional
for me. For your info: Replace Find Next button usually works this way: it
replaces the current occurence, moves the cursor to the next occurence and wait
to the user interaction.

In short: One click - one change, move to the next. Wait. That's all.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48963] New: Impress : crashes in slideshow when a slide contains a video

2012-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48963

 Bug #: 48963
Summary: Impress : crashes in slideshow when a slide contains a
video
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: richard.gre...@onera.fr

1. Insert a video (avi or other) by clicking in the video symbol in the center
of a slide: the video is inserted as a black rectangle with a ? mark.

2. Launch the slideshow: LibO crashes when it comes on the slide that contains
the video.

Workaround : remove LibO 352 and re-install LibO 346 !
LibO 346 plays the video during the slide show without a problem !

For developers: if adding new features to a software breaks many features that
were working perfectly in the previous version, I think you should change your
development methods. This is not serious!

From my point of view, LibO 35X has too many regressions. Here are some
regressions that are unacceptable for me:

Impress slideshow:
-ugly picture of group objects. Improved, but not corrected in 352.
-incompatibility with hardware acceleration. Corrected in 352.
-crashes with video. Not corrected in 352.

Writer with Math:
- incorrect displayed size of a Math formula after editing. Not corrected in
352

ALL THESE FEATURES ARE WORKING PERFECTLY WITH LIBO 346 !!

As I can understand, we need realtime updating. For example, we have formula
=B1-B2. When cursor inside of formula, cells B1 and B2 highlighted. When we
erase 1 for example, formula becomes =B-B2 and no highlighted cells, because
formula incorrect. When we type 3, cells B2 and B3 should become highlighted
immediately.

Version 3.5 is out and this issue has not been addressed. Sadly, I didn't miss
any of the improvements that we made. I am confident that if the developers
wanted to, they could fix this problem. I just can not understand why they
don't want to.

Incorrect alignment of characters from Catalog

When the numerator or the denominator of the fraction contains only characters
from the Catalog, then the alignment is incorrect, for example:
%pi over {%xi %xi}
If you add a character is not from the Catalog, then the alignment is correct:
{2 %pi} over {4 %xi %xi}
or so:
{{}%pi} over {{}%xi %xi}

See the attached picture of how it looks to me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47592] FILEOPEN: Print range not loading in some file(s) whith link to another file

2012-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47592

--- Comment #8 from ron gregor rgre...@wcnjcd.com 2012-04-20 06:12:53 UTC ---
(In reply to comment #6)
 @ ron,

(Sorry that it took me some days..)

 (In reply to comment #5)
There are 2 files. The first file has a print range defined. The print range
will not load when the first file has links to a second file. I have no idea
why the links are effecting the loading of the print range as these two
  items
  should be separate.

Ah now I see. You don't have the print range as link. Sorry, that was not
 clear
 to me.

Just so you know openoffice always loads the print range so this points to
  the
  problem being in libreoffice.

I'll attach my test files. Created in 3.5.2.2.
I cannot reproduce the problem with new files.

But if I add a print range to your 1709BP manual.ods, save and reopen, indeed
 the print range is gone...
Maybe there's more with your file, or with the links?

It is not (purely) that within the print range cells are linked to the cells
that are linked to the other sheet. Anyway, when I change that to my test
 file,
 it still continues to work.

Any idea what could be special at your file?
Can you reproduce it with new (simple) files ?

 thanks,
 Cor

I have created 2 new test files and the print range is not loading. I was able
to open your sample files and the print range did load.
I am running Win Xp and have seen this problem on 3 different systems in our
office. What OS are you running?

1) observation confirmed in 3.5.2

2) several easy workarounds exist: if you see such behavior, you can:
 - enlarge colum width of col. A
 - enter the value manually
 - reformat cell to wrap automatically (Format Cells Alignment)

So I'd not consider this a very urgent thing, but it's not nice, of course.

Automatically switching to automatic wrap could be a possible solution.

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.2 Release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bart.hanss...@fedict.be

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download presentation from
http://plugfest.opendocsociety.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=plugfests:201204_brussels:20120419-jimthatcher-8thodfplugfest-welcome.odp

2. Open it in LibreOffice 3.5.2 (Windows 7)

Current behavior:

Text is mingled or displayed in a very small font.
This isn't the case in Oracle OpenOffice 3.3 or MS-Powerpoint 2010.

Expected behavior:

- Make the text the correct font size

Platform (if different from the browser):

- LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 on Windows 7 (64 bit)

Comment from Fridrich: the font-size parser waits for points, here the
font-size is in inches, will fix

--- Comment #9 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-04-20 07:06:39 PDT ---
The crash is NOT reproducible anymore on MacOS X 10.6.8 with LibreOffice
3.5.2.2 (Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f, German langpack
installed).

Because I have found the bug fixed already in 2012-01-16 (see comment #8),
because nobody has answered my question there, if he/she still can reproduce
this bug, and because nobody has reported anything about this crash since
2011-11-14, I pluck up courage [if this is the correct phrase] and change the
status of this bug to RESOLVED/WORKSFORME, because it seems really outdated
now.

Please feel free to reopen this bug report if necessary.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42952] FILESAVE: Mac Open-Save Dialogs--Tries to Connect to Servers

2012-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42952

--- Comment #2 from noibs...@me.com 2012-04-20 07:25:26 PDT ---
Sorry. I had forgotton about this bug submission. I have some additional
information that will help.

I had an Mac OS X alias to an SMB server among a list of folders that contain
most of my LibreOffice documents. Thus, when I accessed either an open or save
dialog box in LibreOffice, that alias would be visible in the list of folders
that I would be accessing. At that point, LibreOffice would mount that server
on the desktop. Understand that simply having that alias file in the open/save
dialog box would prompt the server to mount--I didn't have to click on it.

And, if I set my LO preferences to use native open/save dialog boxes (instead
of the Mac OS X version), this didn't happen. Further, no Mac application that
I own will mount a server just because an alias to that server appears in an
open or save dialog box.

Also, the question as to what happens if the server is not available: A
message is displayed saying that There as a problem connecting to the name of
server server.

My workaround is not to have an alias to a server within a directory that I'm
likely to access from a LO open or save dialog box.

Without being an expert, IMHO this is a CSS rendering problem rather than with
monitor or graphics card. So a CSS guru might be of help. And as rendering is
greatly browser/OS dependent, the server log should show how many times pages
have been requested by such a broken browser version.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38983] Word Count counts incorrectly with dashes and other separators

2012-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #10 from Jamee Mikell jamee.mik...@gmail.com 2012-04-20 09:21:49

Comment on attachment 60399
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=60399
Example of outline spreadsheet described in comment 9.

re: comment 8
It's possible I could figure out LO's macro language and object structures. I
have developed (and currently maintain and enhance) macros in VBA for Excel,
and made a living coding C and learned a little Python for a couple of small
side projects I did, and used various other languages off and on, so it isn't
like I have no programming background. But I'd rather be writing fiction, and I
haven't found much to help me understand LO's macro language or object
structure.

I didn't find any extensions or such that offered more sophisticated word
counting. The one or two examples I found rely on the underlying (flawed in my
opinion) word count method or implement the same method in their own code.

To be honest, though, if I did write a macro, I'd write it to look for a
specific section break identifier (e.g., eol#eol) that would be entered as
part of a dialog and then report word count data for each section. Or use
bookmarks and count between bookmarks. Probably other options for defining
breaks too.

In the end, I decided this issue wasn't going to get solved in a way that meets
my needs any time soon so I modified my outline spreadsheet for this writing
project. See attachment OutlineExample.ods. Each time I edit a section (part of
a chapter), I run the default word count and record the LO word count and the
count of characters including spaces on the section's row in the spreadsheet. I
sum up the two sets of numbers--LO words and characters--at the end of each set
of sections and report LO words and char/6 and char/6 and char/X, where X is a
value I determined was a reasonable estimate of characters per page based on
sampling several comparable books. I can also estimate char/6 given char for
any single section if I need to. This helps me balance the size of books and,
to a lesser extent, sections and chapters.

If someone would like to write a macro or extension or enhance LO to facilitate
more sophisticated word counting methods that fiction writers and others who
care about word count might find useful, I would be grateful. I occasionally
make changes with find/replace across the whole document, which requires going
recounting each section to update the count data. But as I noted, I'd rather
write fiction than spend a lot of time figuring out how LO's macro language
works and how the Writer objects work and such. If I already knew LO's macro
language and objects, it would probably be a different story.

Thanks for new idea
IMHO button Exit fullscreen mode in console will also help in this situation.
We can easily switch to another program and do what we needed.

PS: we can try Alt-Tab, but on Windows 7 it results in problem, slide from
target screen disappears.

The problem is no more reproducible and seems to be not really LibreOffice
business since I did not upgrade it since (it still is the same release 3.4.3).

Since then, the video driver, the OS and the Java runtime have been updated.

I believe this bug could be closed.
