[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47287] Write formulas without background

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47287

--- Comment #3 from sasha.libreoff...@gmail.com 2012-06-05 23:05:53 PDT ---
Thanks for attachment. Alas, I have no AOOo currently, so let wait for another
testers.

Site http://odf-validator.rhcloud.com/ complains on some errors:
LO 47287 Formula.odg/Object 1/content.xml[3,6]: Error: Document is invalid: no
grammar found.
LO 47287 Formula.odg/Object 1/content.xml[3,6]: Error: Document root element
math, must match DOCTYPE root null.

So, we see here incompatibility not only with AOOo, but also with Oasis ODF

Great, thanks.

Should I make clean after applying the patch?

No, better avoid it (as rebuilding from clean takes so much longer). (Just
please note my comment 12 on how to massage the patch after application. I'm
sberg on #libreoffice-dev freenode irc, in case you run across any problems

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50760] New: If different format in cells, Standard format not applied to all of them in 1 action

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50760

 Bug #: 50760
Summary: If different format in cells, Standard format not
applied to all of them in 1 action
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: kaktebyaviru...@gmail.com

Created attachment 62629
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=62629
Example file with different cell formats

there is an xls file with 4 cells of the following format

cell A1, category Number, format -1234.12
cell A2, category Number, format Standard
cell A3, category Number, format Standard
cell A4, category Number, format -1234.12

Standard format options:
fractional part - 0
leading zeros - 1
Format code - Standard

-1234.12 format options:
fractional part - 2
leading zeros - 1
Format code - 0,00

If we select all four cells and try to apply Standard format to all them,
everything will remain in original places. Cells A1 and A4 have -1234.12
format. But if we change format to any other, and then to Standard, then all
will be applicable.

I think the regression happened beetween 3.3 and 3.4.4 (see the history of the

It maybe appeared when minimizer was include in the pack.

In my memories : Before I installed the extension directly from libre office

Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Status Whiteboard: BSA
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: n...@cyviz.com

Problem description:
Extremely slow handling of larger tables.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create new presentation
2. Add a table with 20 rows and 20 columns
3. Try moving or resizing it

Current behavior:
With a modern fast worstation pc, it takes 10seconds just to do basic
operations like move or resize.
Try adding a table of 40x40 and it takes forever (almost 2 min on my fast pc)
just to place it. I initially thought it was a crash until I investigated
further.

Expected behavior:
Microsoft Powerpoint does it in seconds, even the 40x40.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50763] New: HTML Import doesnt parse inline base64 images correctly

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50763

 Bug #: 50763
Summary: HTML Import doesnt parse inline base64 images
correctly
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.4 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bjoern.michael...@canonical.com

Inlined HTML images:

 img src=data:image/jpeg;base64,fdsiid... .../

are imported as text. This is an enhancement request to parse such data
correctly.

Since the base64-data contains no whitespace, Writer has a hard time figuring
out how to break lines, freezing it even on small amounts of such data. So this
is more important than a random feature request as it might be responsible/root
cause for a lot of copy-paste from web, then freeze bugs.

If a full implementation of base64 parsing is out of scope, a workaround should
be implemented to at least just skip such data, to prevent the Writer layout
going havoc. Consider splitting such a task of as a simpler to fix bug.

This is not possible as long as LibreOffice is licensed under LGPLv3 (or all
contributors accept submission to the AppStore). Thus this is currently
unfixable / invalid on a technical level.

(In reply to comment #4)
It is normal that soffice.bin exits early (with a special exit code of 81)
whenever it detects that the bundled and/or shared extensions are not in sync
with the corresponding user profile data (which is esp. the case when a new
user profile directory is created). However, the outer soffice.exe should
restart soffice.bin when it exits with the special code of 81. Would be
strange if that mechanism stopped working.

I think that this is the case (started from LibreOffice 3.4). The fix of bug
#43989 only prevents this happening, so we need to investigate a little bit,
why this mechanism stopped working.

Attached four files. Two files in rtf format (original and edited), and two
screenshots (before and after editing).

Problem description:

Attaching two files. One was created by M$O http://sharesend.com/yoeuw and
other one was converted by LO http://sharesend.com/9nmf5. The first file have
readable Cyrillic symbols, but after opening in LO for editing and saving in
the same format all Cyrillic symbols converted to unreadable symbols. Editing
was made on Linux and Win7 with the same results.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open rtf file created by M$ Office Word
2. Make any changes (I changed few symbols of date in the document)
3. Save it in rtf format.
4. Close the document
5. Open it again.

Current behavior:

It is a ruins against Cyrillic symbols.

fwiw, when I said free serif I meant

Free Serif. Clearly if it happens after a fresh install of OS, its hardly
likely to be that after all.

Standard toolbar functionality is given by the main window and the main menu.
Moreover this toolbar isn't enabled by default, so nearly nobody would use
this.

Maybe it would be good to discuss it on the ux-advice mailing list. Please do

(In reply to comment #11)
to compile LO from source, can you please produce a build with attached
 debug3.5.patch applied?

I did the build.

This should produce a number of debug output lines prefixed with
WinInetBackend when opening Tools - Options... - Internet - Proxy (via
OutputDebugString, so should be visible when running within WinDbg, or
 profiling from depends.exe, etc.).
If you can make available that debug output, that should help us track down
 this problem.

Any instructions how to setup console debug output on Windows? When running
this build I do not see anything like that. I used --enable-debug to build it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50780] New: Word Count counts comments

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50780

 Bug #: 50780
   Summary: Word Count counts comments
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.6.0alpha1
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: heinzless...@gmail.com

Created attachment 62666
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=62666
Example file to demonstrate Word Count counting comments

The Word Count window counts comments as one-character words (this also means
that comments separate words, just like does).

Expected: comments should not be counted at all and should not separate words.

How to reproduce:
1 Start a new Writer document
2 Go to Insert Comment to add a new comment
3 Go to Tools Word Count

Observe that the Word Count window now shows the following:

Whole document --
Words: 1
Characters: 1
Characters excluding spaces: 1

Even though there only is a comment in the window.

(The example attached also demonstrates that the line ending is _not_ counted,
since it contains two comments + one legitimate character which Word Count
shows as 3 words/3 characters.)

Reproducible with:
* LibreOffice 3.5.4, x86-64, Linux
* LibreOffice 3.6 a1+, x86-64, Linux

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50783] New: Can't create database or access table in Base

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50783

 Bug #: 50783
Summary: Can't create database or access table in Base
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.6.0alpha1
  Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: blocker

ReportedBy: pmla...@suse.cz

Created attachment 62669
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=62669
Test document

Base is almost unusable in 3.6-alpha1 and master. I am unable to create new
database. Also I am not able to access table in an older database.

The strange thing is that I am able to access table from
~/.config/libreoffice/3/user/database/biblio.odb. I wonder if this database is
created using another driver.

Steps to reproduce (existing database):

1. Open the attached test.odb
2. Click Tables button in the left box

Result: Error message:

'The connection to the data source test could not be established.
  org/hsqldb/lib/FileSystemRuntimeException'

Another steps to reproduce (creating new database)

1. Start LibreOffice
2. Select in menu File/New/Database
3. Make sure that Create new database is selected and press the button
   Finish
4. Enter database name, e.g. test-new.odb and press Enter

Result: Error message (same as above):

'The connection to the data source test could not be established.
 org/hsqldb/lib/FileSystemRuntimeException'

Darn.

All your examples are about embedded HSQLDB; did you try *any* other database
driver?

Yes, biblio.odb is not an embedded HSQLDB database, but is a connection to a
DBase 3 database; the data is in file biblio.dbf / .dbt

This suggests *only* (embedded) HSQLDB is broken.

Haven't got a 3.6/3.7 build yet, so it will take me some time before I can take
a look.

2. Set /etc/cups/client.conf to use it remote cups server
3. Open writer or calc.
4. Open a document.
5. Go to File - Print, and you'll see the printers.

7. Go to File - Print, and all printers disappears.
8. Close libreoffice.
9. Start libreoffice again, and go to File - Print, and you'll see the
printers ok.

Current behavior:
The printers disappears when you keep open libreoffice for 20 min. If you close
a re-open it, the printers appears again.
I think the problem is related with the fact of libreoffice open a connection
with the cups server when it's starts, and its connections is closed a minutes
later (i don't know why). Its seem like a libreoffice don't detect this
connection lost.

May be libreoffice should open the conection with the cups server when the user
open the print dialog, and not when its start.

Platform
Kubuntu 12.04, in a LTSP-Cluster Infraestructure.

I can confirm that for all .xlsx on versions 3.5.2.2 and 3.5.4.2.

Platform: Gentoo Linux x64
LibreOffice: 3.5.4.2 built from source

When opening an .xlsx a popup appears:
The file '*filename*' is corrupt and therefore cannot be opened. LibreOffice
can try to repair the file.
The corruption could be the result of document manipulation or of structural
document damage due to data transmission.
We recommend that you do not trust the content of the repaired documents.
Execution of macros is disabled for this document.
Should LibreOffice repair the file?
*Yes* / *No*

When I select Yes (No just stops the attempt) the following popup appears:

General Error.
General input/output error.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no informational/debugging output on the
console, and I can't find a way to enable any. So these two popups are
everything that shows up.

The same on Fedora 17 x64: non-fatal error during the installation and LO doesn
start:

libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

There´s a newer version in repositories: libpng15.so.15.

I´ve solved this issue for me by installing libpng-compat package containing
the needed file /usr/lib64/libpng12.so.0 , but the solution is not evident for
everyone I think.

Is it possible to install libpng-compat automatically as a dependency for LO?

 (In reply to comment #11)
This should produce a number of debug output lines prefixed with
WinInetBackend when opening Tools - Options... - Internet - Proxy (via
OutputDebugString, so should be visible when running within WinDbg, or
  profiling from depends.exe, etc.).
If you can make available that debug output, that should help us track down
  this problem.

Any instructions how to setup console debug output on Windows? When running
this build I do not see anything like that. I used --enable-debug to build it.

The output does not go to stdout/stderr (aka console), but is instead handed
to Windows' OutputDebugString function. At least when attached to the
soffice.bin process via a debugger, this output should be made available via
that debugger. (For example, I tested this with the freely available
depends.exe, http://www.dependencywalker.com/, loading soffice.exe into it
and then Profile - Start Profiling..., taking care that Log debug output
messages. and Automatically open and profile child processes. are both
checked, should start soffice.exe, which in turn starts soffice.bin, for which
depends.exe then automatically opens a new sub-window, where the relevant debug
output should appear in the bottom pane, along with other logging messages. If
only Windows made debug output available in a straightforward way...)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50786] New: EDITING: sort or natural sort of text should ignore spaces

2012-06-06 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50786

 Bug #: 50786
Summary: EDITING: sort or natural sort of text should ignore
spaces
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: bert.vanvrec...@gmail.com

The sort algorithm (apparently) sorts on ascii values of the characters in text
strings. Consequently, a space character is also considered to be a letter.
However, a space should not have an influence on the sorting order and should
be ignored.

If it is not possible to implement this in the standard sort function (as it
would change the behaviour of a feature that is used quite a lot), then I hope
it can at least be implemented in natural sort.

An example: Flemish surnames often start with De or Van de and these names
can be written either with or without spaces. LibreOffice Spreadsheet sorts
these names incorrectly:

DESIRED RESULT:

1stnameSurname
BartDebacker
PeterDe Decker
MarkDemol
RudyDe Wilde
WimDewilde

ACTUAL RESULT:

1stnameSurname
PeterDe Decker
RudyDe Wilde
BartDebacker
MarkDemol
WimDewilde

WORKAROUND:

As a workaround, you add a column calculated from the the one to be sorted with
spaces removed (e.g. =SUBSTITUTE(B2, ,) ). However, I find this rather

Please disregard my last comment. I found out today that I was accidentally
re-opening the Visio document, instead of the LO Draw document; I was just
seeing the bug exactly as originally reported. My LO Draw document has not
reshuffled its pages.

Sorry about the confusion!

That report builder is riddled with problems. There was a problem getting the
right filter picked because the report builder pretends to have a valid import
filter when in fact it's not. All I did was to make the core chart import
filter the preferred filter in order to get that picked. Other than that I
have no idea.

I'll be away for 3 weeks, so I won't be able to look into this.
