[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51890] New: On MacOS X, the progress bar and the new splash screen graphics are mis-aligned
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51890 Bug #: 51890 Summary: On MacOS X, the progress bar and the new splash screen graphics are mis-aligned Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.0.0.beta3 Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: UI AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: b...@eikota.de Created attachment 63997 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=63997 Screenshot of the new splash screen at work In LibO 3.6.0 beta 3, new background images for about box and splash screen have been introduced. Thank you very much for the new clean look! However, on MacOS X (at least on MacOS X 10.6.8) there is a visual glitch in the new splash screen: the progress bar does not fit into the visible progress bar frame which is a part of the new splash screen background image. See the attached screenshot which explains this best. This is a minor issue, I known, but nevertheless it makes the new splash screen look worse (instead of better) than the old one and gives LibreOffice a not really professional looking on MacOS X. IMHO this is a consequence of commit http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-3-6id=08b4d85e6e04b1ca4ec7f9ea623d795af4a044d4 ; Stefan Knorr (astron) explains in his notes to this comment: * The visible progress bar frame is now in the image itself which has two advantages - it is always there (otherwise the splash could come up without any progress bar frame at all, and then would appear a second later) - you can have arbitrary distances between the bar frame and the bar But this change has the disadvantage to cause the visual glitch on MacOS X. To make the splash screen look better, please either adjust position and length of the progress bar, or remove the visible progress bar frame again from the background image. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I can't test all LibreOffice dialogs, but at least all instances of OK and Abbrechen in the (application) Options dialog and in Writer's Paragraph and Character dialogs are concerned. This problem is brand new, in beta 2 there was NO '~' at the beginning of these captions. The problem is not present in the default (US English) locale; there the same buttons have the correct captions OK and Cancel. I will attach some screenshots showing the spurious '~'. This is a minor issue, but nevertheless it needs attentions, because it makes LibreOffice look rather unprofessional and ugly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Without gdb, I didn't reproduce the problem badfully Within gdb, I had a segfault, eg here the backtrace : Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. SIGSEGV from within JIT'ed JVM code is normal and harmless (JVM signal handler catches it an synthesizes java.lang.NullPointerException from it). https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51872 --- Comment #2 from Ulf Zibis ulf.zi...@gmx.de 2012-07-09 11:47:23 PDT --- (In reply to comment #1) Copy 'n paste is the way many people work. In the case of importing a sub-range of a sheet, I can agree, but not in case of importing a whole table. Examples: - To import MS-Access or MS-Excel data source into LibO Calc, one has NOT to first open the document by help of the original application, in worst case, MS Office is not installed on the machine. - To import a CSV data source into LibO Calc, one has just to open the CSV file, and an assisting dialogue is automatically opened. - Importing favourites from IE to Firefox shouldn't work by Copy 'n paste. - In rare case, user may not have installed LibO Calc, but wants to import data from ods document. To me it's very inconvenient to first open LibO calc, selecting the object, open LibO Base, creating a new DB and pasting the object there (after I have consulted the manual, to find the instructions for IMPORT in chapter BINDING :-( ). Binding and importing is a kind of similar action, e.g. handled in same chapter in Manual, which is solely titled Database Binding. So why not treat those actions similar. Ideally you would add a 4th choice in the New Database-assistant. And last but not least, it's no lapse to have several ways redundantly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51917 --- Comment #3 from Brian Wilson bount...@gmail.com 2012-07-09 15:10:52 PDT --- So you are saying that this is a feature. Please reevaluate. That all random characters regenerate randomly for each and every cell entry and other myriad events does not seem like a desirable feature. What is the value of random text that changes before you can even use it? A spreadsheet is supposed to automate to some extent the calculations etc. Having to manually copy / paste-text for each generated character string is a bug. It is a pretty bug, watching rows and rows of random text recalculate with each click, but it is still a bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51918] New: : Copying from Base table to Spreadsheet alphabetizes and misaligns headers
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51918 Bug #: 51918 Summary: : Copying from Base table to Spreadsheet alphabetizes and misaligns headers Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.5.4 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Database AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: benjamin_licht...@brown.edu Problem description: After reading how to export data from Base (http://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Importing_and_Exporting_Data_in_Base), I attempted to follow the steps to export a csv. I copied the data from a table in my database and pasted it into a new spreadsheet, but the header row was completely alphabetized (and thus misaligned), and each header name occupied more than a single column. Steps to reproduce: 1. Import an mdb or accdb file into Base 2. Open a table 3. Copy the table 4. Open a new spreadsheet 5. Paste into the spreadsheet Current behavior: Elements of the header row are alphabetized and occupy more than one column. Thus they are not properly aligned with each column of data. Expected behavior: Each element of the header row is properly aligned with the corresponding data column. Furthermore we have to document everything so redundancy also leads to redundant documentation which is all very time consuming for such a new and small project (relative to other projects of course). In this case I'm going to mark this as LOWEST priority ENHANCEMENT. The amount of work is substantial, the number of users who would benefit seem to be limited and there is already a way to do what you want (ie. you acknowledge that this would just been an alternative way to do something).
