[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46310] FILEOPEN: Corrupt .doc file. Created with MSOffice in Mac.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46310 Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed: What|Removed |Added Platform|Other |All OS/Version|Linux (All) |All --- Comment #4 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-21 06:05:23 UTC --- Thank you very much for trying again and for getting back to us! Well, if the main point of this report is not the particular corrupted .doc file, but the strange dialog window loop: Steps to reproduce: 1. Try opening corrupt .doc file. 2. Click no on the dialog box. 3. Click ok on the next dialog box. 4. Repeat steps 2-3. Current behavior: The dialog boxes keep popping up over and over again. Expected behavior: It should stop displaying dialog boxes, after I click ok on the second one. I think we can easily create a test case: just take an arbitrary .docx (!) file, change its suffix to “.doc” (!), and then try to open that file with LibreOffice. At least on Mac OS X LibreOffice will show now exactly the strange behaviour you describe. Can you reproduce this (just by renaming any .docx file)? Then this would be a sufficient test case, and we just need to adapt the summary of this bug report to make clear the main point (i.e., the dialog loop). (NB: For the problem that LibreOffice does not recognize .docs files if their suffix is changed to “.doc”, and does not even try to repair them, there is a special bug report: bug 54949. So we should concentrate on the strange dialog loop in the present bug report.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I'm not able to check 3.4.5 or 3.7 so I stay with current version of 3.6. IMO it's a bug not a feature because moving without shadow is (at least for me) unusable. When I move the object I want to precisely locate it and without a shadow it's simply not possible. As far as mouse cursor is concerned, it should always change to 'moving' view while moving. 4 compass points pointer while moving is not what I'd want. But it's not so important. The most important issue is need for speed. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55181 Bug #: 55181 Summary: FILESAVE as .XLS corrupts spreadsheet, losing many rows of data Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.1.2 release Platform: Other OS/Version: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: medium Component: Spreadsheet AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: rossni...@gmail.com I received an XLS (97/2003) s/s that had about 300 rows of data, some header cells that were merged across and down several cells, some hidden rows at the top. There were no macros, no formulas, just simple formatting and a few comments on a few cells. After adding extra columns, doing some manipulation like 'text to column', deleting some columns, simplifying headers etc, all looked good. I was saving as I went, in the same .XLS (97/2003) format. Closed and reopened the s/s. About 90% of the rows were now invisible. I assumed they were lost, as selecting a now empty cell did not reveal content in the data entry line. Assuming some non-LibreOffice error, I repeated the above the next day, with some minor variations. The same major loss occurred. I then opened the corrupt file with MS Office 2010 Starter. It advised there was corruption. I forced this to continue and successfully recovered all the raw data. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49350 --- Comment #29 from Tomaz Vajngerl qui...@gmail.com 2012-09-21 08:39:44 UTC --- Hi, The fix is already in master 2012-09-20_23.38.37 - I tested this build now. This fix primary speeds up changing of selection in auto-correct dialog. You can see the difference when holding up or down key so the selection changes in the list. This was too slow in Linux but bearable when I tested it in Windows. Now it is fast in both environments. Inserting should be a little faster too - for me inserting a new entry in Linux was 8 sec. and now it is 1 sec. In Windows I don't see any difference at inserting - it is fast 1 sec. The biggest delay left for me now is when you click OK - on this action all the entries are synchronized and written into autocorr file and this takes too long IMHO. I will try to improve this. Can you try again and can you put your merged autocorr file somewhere so I can test with 100.000+ entries. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55186] New: EDITING: Ordering wrongly includes the headers when last header is empty
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55186 Bug #: 55186 Summary: EDITING: Ordering wrongly includes the headers when last header is empty Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.1.2 release Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Status Whiteboard: BSA Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Spreadsheet AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: silva...@katamail.com Problem description: When you have some column of data, all with a header except for the last one, when ordering the option selection includes headers is off by default. You can turn it on, and then you will be able to select the ordering criteria based on the header names instead of column lettering (this is correct). However, the resulting order moves the first line containing header as if it were a normal data line to be ordered (this is incorrect, since you specified that data had headers used to identify columns) Steps to reproduce: 1. fill some coloums with any numeric data, and put some text description in the first row above these columns, except for the last columns on the right: for this, leave the header cell empty. 2. select the whole set of data, headers included, and go to the datasort menu command (I am not using the english version, so the exact command names may not correspond to the actual one). In the first page, where you set the ordering criteria, the choices are column A etc. 3. switch to the second page of the sorting dialog, and tick the option data contain headers in the first row. 4. now go back to first page, and you can correctly choose among the various headers, or the column XX for the last column that has no header. Choose for example the first column header as sorting criteria. 5. the result is incorrect in that the first row containing headers was ordered together with the data rows, while it should have been excluded from the sorting, staying on top in any case. This happens (correctly) when all header cells are not empty. 6. the same error takes place if the empty header is in another column (not the last one), or even if there is a numeric data in one of the headers. I think this did not happen in older releases, but I can't say in which release it started Expected behavior: when the option for the first row containing headers is active, any sorting operation should leave the first row on top regardless of the fact that some header cells maybe empty of may have numerical content Platform (if different from the browser): Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55075 Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED Resolution|WORKSFORME | --- Comment #8 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-21 09:40:21 UTC --- (In reply to comment #7) Hm... this reminds me of something ... do you have “Cinch” installed (a window management for Mac OS), or some other window management utility (RightZoom, BetterSnapTool, Moom, etc.)? Nope! No window management software running -- standard Mac OS 10.7.4. OK OK -- I just asked ;-) But you are right, no such tools necessary: Am I the only one who can get this to happen? No, I can REPRODUCE it by the following detailed steps -- so REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.2.1 (Build ID: ba822cc) on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel): 0) Rename your User Profile folder, just to preclude any influence of local settings on test results. 1) Start LibreOffice. 2) Create a new presentation (Impress) document. - The “Slides” pane appears at the left side by default. 3) Drag the “Slides” pane (catching it a the title bar) to the bottom of the Impress window, below the visible silde. - The Impress window changes its layout and is horizontally divided now: the upper half shows still the visible slide, the bottom half is the “Slides” pane with the little slide preview. Between both there is a small split bar. So: +---+ | Tool bar| +-+-+ | ++| | | | Big image of ||Tasks| | | slide 1||pane | | ||| | | ++| | +-+ | +-+ | |Slides pane ^ | | | +--+| | | | | 1|+---+-+ This is what I | +--+| | call “split bar” | | | +-+-+ 4) Now grab the horizontal split bar with the mouse and drag it to the bottom of the Impress window, minimizing the “Slides” pane, until the “Slides” pane disappears. Maybe it is even sufficent to drag the split bar at all. - RESULT: Now it is impossible to make the “Slides” pane visible again; the menu item “View Slides Pane” has no effect; this is even true in new documents. The only way to make the “Slides” pane visible again is to reset your user profile (see comment #3 and comment #4). Good catch, Nathan! this is definitely a bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55075 --- Comment #10 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-09-21 09:51:17 UTC --- Wait a minute. Well, it is not always that even to reproduce this issue! I wrote: 4) Now grab the horizontal split bar with the mouse and drag it to the bottom of the Impress window, minimizing the “Slides” pane, until the “Slides” pane disappears. Maybe it is even sufficent to drag the split bar at all. This is too simple. One time it worked that way. On my next try, it did not work: I could NOT minimize the “Slides” pane until it disappeared, it always remained visible. So I cliced on the little “Hide” control element in the center of the split bar. The “Slides” pane disappeared, but choosing “View Slides Pane” made it visible again. So I tried again to drag the split bar, this time upwards and very fast -- and the “Slides“ pane, instead of growing in height, disappeared again. So there is something tricky about this issue; maybe it is necessary to drag the split bar very fast or so. I just can’t say for now. But the issue is reproducible, of course, and there is a bug somewhere. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So the opposite problem is also happening: if you select for ordering some data including text data in the first row, the sort command will by default activate the data contain headers in the firs row option; and that's OK. However, if you do NOT want the first row to be considered as headers, because it actually contains data just as the other rows, you deactivate that option, choose a column as sorting criteria, and then the first row is excluded from the sorting anyway (which is WRONG!). This bug can lead to MAJOR problems if you do not know it and do some sorting operations (very commonplace in a spreadsheet) without carefully examining the results. This morning for example I risked publishing messy examination results for my students because of this. Actually, if you use calc frequently recurring to sorting, the program is now quite unusable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Ok I understand now... Probably two effects of the same bug when entering and when editing. Steps to reproduce: 1. File New Spreadsheet 2. Select A2 3. Window Freeze 4. Select A1 5. InsertComment, Type Comment text long enouth to cause line breaks Expected result: the text must remain visible when it passes the line. Actual result: the text after the newline is invisible when entering (becomes visible when you click outside the comment) See ScreenshotStep5 (text after the newline is invisible) Regards Pierre-Yves -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49350] 10x speedup of saving a new entry to a large autocorrect replacement table
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49350 --- Comment #30 from tommy27 ba...@quipo.it 2012-09-21 11:52:55 UTC --- Created attachment 67494 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=67494 huge autocorrect database (119K entries) @ Tomaz as you asked I'm sending you the new autocorrect file for testing. regarding the present issue, the freeze I was talking about was exactly the one that happens when you hit the OK button. on my Vista 64bit laptop the master build takes 5 minutes to close and save the replacement table using the 119K entries database... unacceptable... with a smaller database (45K entries) current LibO 3.6.1 takes 40 seconds... still very annoying... (see attachment 61815 ) regarding your fix now I've noticed the difference and I consider it a nice improvement. however the bottle neck is still represented by the OK freeze that hopefully you will fix as well -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new label definition (e.g. 2 colums, 6 rows with label width of 10.4cm x 4.8cm, top margin of 0.45cm on a A4 page. Allow to sync labels. 2. Insert a horizontal line and sync 3. Print Current behavior: Labels as of row 2 are not exactly lined up, instead of the 4.8cm distance between horizontal lines you have a little less, probably about 4.7 or 4.75cm Expected behavior: The horizontal line should be exactly 4.8 cm apart. Platform (if different from the browser): Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1 Windows 7 and printed to two different printers with the same result (a Canon IP4800 and an HP Photosmart 110) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Click on triangle next to Background color tool again (while in the same table cell). We see that around selected color is small rectangle) 4.
