[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39956] Implement the IAccessible2 accessibility API [accessibility]

2012-11-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39956

--- Comment #9 from James Teh ja...@nvaccess.org ---
(In reply to comment #0)
Unfortunately, the Java Accessibility API is badly supported by screen
readers on Windows (... the open source NVDA
It's worth noting that we've done our best to support the Java Access Bridge
(JAB) in NVDA. However, JAB is difficult for users to set up, enforces
dependency on Java and has severe limitations and bugs as an API. To give one
example, it's not possible to communicate a great deal of formatting
information with JAB. Supporting IAccessible2 would definitely be a huge leap
forward for LibreOffice accessibility and allows for future improvements not
possible with JAB.

Incorrectly labeled chart

On a horizontal bar chart, it would make sense to have the top bar correspond
to the top entry in the legend. Spreadsheet doesn't do this. It seems to label
the charts in a most unintuitive way--the top bar is on the bottom of the
legend, and the bottom bar is on the top of the legend.

LibreOffice freezes and needs to be killed when saving a complicated Microsoft

I.e. opening test.xlsx, make a tiny change, save the file, and LibreOffice
freezes. This only occurs in this special document. A working solution is to
save as Microsoft 2003 .xls document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39956] Implement the IAccessible2 accessibility API [accessibility]

2012-11-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39956

--- Comment #10 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Yes moving to IAccessible2 should help in eliminating the JAB mappings of UNO
Accessibility API. The IBM Symphony \winaccessibility contribution to Apache
Open Office is tantalizingly close as a framework for achieving the
IAccessible2 implementation--seems like we are just waiting for a IBM/Appache
signoff on stamping the code contribution with the ALv2 license.

I think though, that even if the licensing were released today, until work
starts on LibreOffice 4.0 and Apache OpenOffice 4.0, the Windows OSs and NVDA
will remain dependent on the Java Accessibility with Java Access Bridge
mappings.

So, I am curious if the JAB provided support is really that incomplete? Or is
it just that it has lacked needed attention in both OpenOffice and LibreOffice
implementations?

The Java AWT/Swing components of Java Accessibility API seem pretty
comprehensive, as do the UNO Accessibility a11y roles and trees. What I don't
have a feel for is the fidelity of role mappings achieved by the JAB, and
issues of exposing a documents accessibility tree to AT.

Can emerging a11y ATK 3.0 efforts like the ATK::collection interface be
implemented in UNO Accessibility and mapped across the JAB to the Java
Accessibility API?

As I reported in NVDA#2753 - ( http://www.nvda-project.org/ticket/2753 ) the
JAB based implementations are loosing AT focus within an NVDA session.

Several other structural issues with AT document trees and inadequacies of UNO
Accessibility roles suggest there is considerable room to improve how UNO
Accessibility in general annotates elements with accessibility details. And
while the scrub in preparation for LOdev 4.0 and AOoDev 4.0 begins, it would
make sense to put some work into improving UNO Accessibility mappings into Java
Accessibility API across the JAB.

 Component: Writer

Created attachment 69422
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69422action=edit
A comparison of the first page header vs the default header. They render
differently even though they are styled identically.

Problem description:

I am writing and application that produces DOCX files using ECMA-376 3rd ed.
standard. In the document final section properties (ECMA-376 Section 17.6.17),
there can be more than one headerReference element (ECMA-376 Section 17.10.5):
one for the first page, one for odd pages, and one for even pages. I specified
a first and default (left) page reference. I also specified that there shall
be a title page using titlePg (ECMA-376 Section 17.10.6), so my document final
section properties look like so:

w:sectPr
  w:headerReference r:id=rId2 w:type=first /
  w:headerReference r:id=rId3 w:type=default /
  w:pgNumType w:fmt=decimal /
  w:pgMar w:bottom=1440 w:footer=0 w:gutter=0 w:header=0 w:left=1440
w:right=1440 w:top=1440 /
  w:pgSz w:h=15840 w:w=12240 /
  w:textDirection w:val=lr /
  w:titlePg w:val=1 /
  w:type w:val=nextPage /
/w:sectPr

I have also styled my headers in the style part of the document to be
vertically centered in the top margin of the page. The default header renders
correctly, however, the first page header renders incorrectly.

Current behavior:

The title page, or first page, header is incorrectly displayed. See attached
screen shots.

Expected behavior:

When multiple headers are specified in the document final section properties,
they should both be displayed correctly.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Win 7 Home

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.4 (KHTML, like

I'd like to know if it concerns only Linux (my config only?) or not?

Sorry for the delay! I was mostly away this week.
Well, Rainer has already confirmed this bug (thanks!). So only for the record:

NOT reproducible with Rainer’s sample file (from comment #4) and
LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: ce2690; pull time: 2012-10-30 00:06:37)
on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel). No crash occurs when closing the sample document

I had a colleague of mine send her data twice, in different formats, assuming a
file corruption. This was because LibreOffice Calc does not even warn when it
encounters a file with more columns than it can deal with. This is a bit
embarassing, not?

For your internal priorisation, please be aware that today, with many research
lab are equipped with machines to perform high throughput analyses, files with
1500 columns (which typically host attributes in statistics) are no longer
exceptional. Excel once was sucking badly with 256 columns, but they got that
one fixed for a reason.

Together with this functionality of thousands of columns there will be new
interfaces developing alongside for the filtering of such. Time will bring it.
Just now, please fix this behaviour. I offer 100 Euros from my very private
pocket for this feature. The missing notice of losing data I tend to see as a
bug.

Concerning the dynamic container comment below I suggest to think about
sparse formats. There is tons of sparse data out there in scientific data and
to have a regular desktop tool prepared to handle that efficiently would be
exciting.

Indeed:

$ dig -t MX +short gerrit.libreoffice.org

You probably meant vm2.documentfoundation.org:

vm2.documentfoundation.org mail is handled by 10 vm2.documentfoundation.org.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56670] New: undefined: XModel/XSelectionSupplier return wrong selection of XShapes and/or added XShape

2012-11-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56670

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56670
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: undefined: XModel/XSelectionSupplier return wrong
selection of XShapes and/or added XShape
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: libreoff...@karsten-merkle.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.6.2 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. install MRI-Tools from

http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/mri-uno-object-inspection-tool
2. create a form with input fields
3. group some of them and select group
4. Try tools-Addons- MRI(Selection) := one of the elements is given
5. choose enter group and selectan element inside of group
6. again show MRI(Selection) := group is given

This also happens without MRI, whether I call
- getSelection on the document model
- getCurrentSelection on SelectionsSupplier
- register as XSelectionChangeListener

Current behavior:
On first getSelection of new created group an element returns.
After entering group ans selecting, alway the group gets returned, even the UI
clearly shows only one XShape is selected.

Spoof: Selecting two fields inside a group returns shapeCollection with two
elements... each of them is the group

Expected behavior:
- getSelection on the document model
- getCurrentSelection on SelectionsSupplier
- register as XSelectionChangeListener
should return a shapeCollection of contained Elements...

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:15.0) Gecko/20120918 Firefox/15.0.1
SeaMonkey/2.12.1

Shows the write-protected table and the wrong properties for this table.

Create a database. The database should have a Calc-table as datasource.
Open the database. The tables of this database aren't editable, only readable.
No create a form. Link the form to a table of this database. The form shows
properties, which are impossible for any table of this database:
- Allow additions
- Allow modifications
- Allow deletions
- Add data only
All this properties have to be set to No and not active for any changing
through the user. They irritate people, who want to edit data to a Calc-table
with base (and not only a Calc-table - could also be a addressbook, which is
writeprotected.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56678] conditional formatting justification wrong for xlsx file

2012-11-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56678

I would have to assume is says to center justify since that is what it does
however I am only able to look at it with ms excel viewer. I may have to
download mso to check for sure unless someone else reading here has it.

Perhaps the cells are center justified and the conditional formatting is
overriding it?

I just checked the cell format and the alignment is set to center. The
conditional formatting specifies default. I would expect that to leave the
cell alignment as it was. Apparently that is what excel is doing.

Both:

- Use English (USA) locale for numbers

LO 3.6.2: New setting under:
  Preferences (tools/options) - Language Settings - Languages
  Date acceptance patterns D-M-Y;D-M

That is the default for the locale system ( LO) setting:
  Default - Dutch (Netherlands)

So, can anyone confirm that we now can work around this bug by using this
last additional locale setting introduced in LibreOffice 3.6.2?

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/3.6#Localization

I certainly can confirm this is the first version of LibreOffice that does not
swap the day and month in the described configuration.

I'm not convinced that this should be a global setting because there is no such
thing global date formats so I don't think this new feature is a real solution.
See the related bugs.

 Still happening in 3.6.3.

Yes, sorry; and this will not change, until a developer finds time to look into
this issue; and only few developers have experience with this special kind of
bugs, and their time is especially rare and expensive ;-) For now, the best
workaround is to disable BetterSnapTool (or similar tools) while you are
working with LibreOffice -- sorry again!

REPRODUIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.3.2 (Build ID: 58f22d5), German langpack
installed, on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

Help translation seems clearly wrong; “Gebietsschema 'Deutsch (Deutschland)'
für Zahlen verwenden” should probably just be replaced by “Gebietsschema
'Englisch (USA)' für Zahlen verwenden”.

Created attachment 69445
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69445action=edit
External HTML sources with different lang= settings

This attachment contains links to 4 html sources that, at the moment, have the
following language setting and really used decimal separator vs date format:

- lang=nl, document has decimal separator ,, date: DD-MM-
- no HTML-lang setting (but document uses English, decimal dot, DD-month)
- lang=en but document uses US dates (in other text-strings) and decimal dot
So this is incorrect, the document should have used lang=en-us
- lang=en-us, document uses decimal dot and dates like Fri, Nov 2, 2012
(not shown when importing HTML Tables)

I don't see any influence by the HTML setting on the import behaviour of
numbers. Also I would say that trusting the HTML source is useless since the
language setting is usually absent or wrong (also some sites don't use plain
HTML, take a look at Google Finance).

Like the original report stated, the following combination gives me all the
numbers:
- Non US locale (e.g. Dutch, German, ..)
- Use English (USA) locale for numbers

Result:
- numbers with a decimal , are imported as text (use the VALUE function)
- decimal dot numbers are imported as numbers

See bug 53177 for the date behaviour and the related new additional global
language setting.

Thank you very much for your bug report!

According to the crash log file, you are using LibreOffice 3.6.0. Could you
please try to upgrade to the newest version, 3.6.3? This update fixes two bugs
with symptoms similar to your report; the update is available from
   http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
So please update and then try if the crash with the spreadsheed still happens
with the new version. Then please come back to this page
   https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56656
and leave an additional comment, stating if the crash with the spreadsheed
still happens with the new version, and, if possible, what exactly you need to
do in the spreadsheet file to make LibreOffice crash (invoke some command from
the menu -- and which one? click somewhere -- and where? etc.). Then we can
take additional steps to track down the problem.

Thank you very much for trying this in advance!

(Internal QA hint: this is yet another bug report related to the Mac OS X
accessibility API. I am not sure yet if this is a known bug, or a new one ...)

   LibreOffice Language Pack.app/Contents/osx_install.applescript
with Apple’s “AppleScript Editor” application, changing the lines:

set startInstall to Paigaldamise alustamiseks klõsa Paigalda

   Paigaldamine võib natuke aega võtta...

(NB the multi-line string!) as suggested to

set startInstall to Paigaldamise alustamiseks klõsa \Paigalda\

   Paigaldamine võib natuke aega võtta...

the installer works. (As you will notice, the character encoding is obviously
wrong, but it seems that this does not make any problems.)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56648] Improper quote escaping causes Estonian Mac OS X language pack installer to not run.

@ Andras Timar (and Alex Thurgood):

This is yet another bug report about problems with the langpack installer, but
this time, it is easy to reproduce it, and even the fix is simple... wow!

There are three things we need to check
1) Can we fix this problem with the Estonian langpack installer soon?
I hope it should be easy to do this.
2) Can we find out *why* there are non-escaped quotes inside of the string --
I mean, is this just a typo made by some translator, or is there a
systematic problem in the software which handles the translations?
3) Could this give us a clue about (some of) the other reports about problems
with langpack installers? This would be just too nice to be true,
but we should the possibiliy ...

Thank you for looking into this issue!

-

Correction to my comment #1:
REPRODUCIBLE on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel) with LibreOffice 3.6.3.2 (Build ID:
58f22d5) and the 3.6.3.1 Esthonian langpack installer ...

“3.6.3.1” is a typo here. I just mean the official 3.6.3(.2) langpack
installer.

Hi all,

I am mostly fine with the borders tool – but I agree with q9 that it can be
hard to see what you're changing. I also agree with Michael that selecting two
lines can be expected behaviour. The click areas are maybe a bit mushy an may
need work – but for now, we can do something else...

Give the user more feedback on what he is selecting before clicking on it.

Right now, we show a dotted outline when the user clicks a border line, so we
could just show the same dotted outline in a lighter colour (~ #99) on
mouse over.

(This will only help for people using mice but that should still be the
majority of LibO users.)

On a multiple-sheet spreadsheet, after upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu
12.10, Calc lose conditional formatting rules. (I do not know if it was
upgraded Libreoffice too). Now, sometimes Calc has a strange behaviour:
applying conditional formatting to a range of cells, say the character color
red for negative numbers, green for positive ones and black for zero values,
after some opening of the file, the numbers in the cells remain green despite
the value and all the three conditional formatting rule disappear.

Before you try to upload the file please run SHUTDOWN COMPACT as direct
SQL-Command (Tools → SQL ...).
You have written, that the file has about 780 MB?? Is that right? Never heard
about such an expensive Database created with Base and the internal HSQLDB.

Could it be that the table is linked to another table? Is Merged.ID a
foreign key for this other table? Then it could be you try to delete a row,
which is used in another table and couldnt't be deleted. Is there really
nothing to see after you have choosen Yes - not a popup with Error

The bug is not only for choosing a template path, it is for entering any path
in Tools/Options/Libreoffice/Paths (for example: path for safe source of
macros).

The exact behavior is not cutting down the end of the path: actually, it always
takes the home directory ($HOME), whichever path has been selected by the user
(e.g. even if selecting /tmp).

This is not related to the currect directory at launch time: if the software is
launched from a different directory, it still takes $HOME.

I have Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))
