Thank you for your bug report!

REPRODUCIBLE with reporter’s sample file and
LOdev 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: c1b407; pull time: 2012-11-02 23:47:02)
on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

However, I can NOT reproduce this with LibreOffice 3.6.3.2 on the same machine.
This may be just some coincidence. Or is the Version picker wrong?

Good news: I hope that this problem could already be solved by Thorsten
Behren’s patch:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=b668d3aaf5690bd067c0ed283e9492ae576117f9

which was committed 2012-11-07 23:55:18 (GMT); so we need to test a newer daily
build to find out ...

The problem persists, only after killing all soffice.exe and all soffice.bin

difficult to reproducte this because there is no feedback why the first process
is blocked or crashing. Frequently occur this if the quickstart is open

--- Comment #2 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de ---
Thank you for your bug report!

REPRODUCIBLE with LibreOffice 3.6.3.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel).

As far as I can see, if there is one line of blank/white pixels between the
image itself and its border, and on which side(s) there are such white lines,
depends on the zoom level (and on the screen resultion?).
* With some zoom levels, e.g. at 75% or 100%, there is no white line between
  image and border at all;
* with many zoom levels, e.g. at 76% or 106%, I see a white line at the
  right side of the image;
* on other zoom levels, e.g. at 50% (! there should be no aliasing problems
at 50%), I see the white line both at the right and the bottom side
  of the image;
* on other zoom levels, e.g. at 61% or 65%, I see a white line at the left
  (and top?) of the image.

This is an old bug. When comparing different LibreOffice versions, I see some
variation about where and at which zoom levels the white line(s) appear; e.g.,
LibreOffice 3.3.0 seems to show the white line mostly/always at the top or left
side of the image; but nevertheless this bug is more or less reproducible since
LibreOffice 3.3.0, so it may be very well be inherited from OOo.
→ Adapting the Version field (should always contain the 1st version which is
known to contain the bug).

Could someone else please test if this bug is also reproducible on Windows
and/or Linux?

seems to be about loss of charts READING a .docx file that has been created in

I can confirm this on Win7, LibreOffice 3.6.3.2. Practically, it always crashes
when you leave column or row fields empty (after having assigned some fields to
them before). Will check on Linux in the evening. This is quite disturbing and
one of the few reasons we have not switched to 3.6.X at work (with my glorious
exception ;-)).

Hello Tea,

Indexing the contents of LibreOffice files with Windows 7 used to work for me
when I had LO version 3.4 too and I am glad that going back to an older version
fixed the Windows 7 search issue for your LibreOffice files. This confirms that
it is a real bug in the later LibreOfffice releases. Old versions of
LibreOffice are not available for download from libreoffice.org and I was
unable to locate an English version of LibreOffice 3.4.6 there, I only found
3.4.5 somewhere else and I'm hesitant to install that. I therefore downloaded
the very latest version 3.6.3.2 and installed it after removing 3.6.2.2 and
deleting the LO profile. However, version 3.6.3.2 does not fix this search
issue and the contents of LibreOffice documents (I tried ODT and ODS files) are
still not indexed by Windows 7 (64-bit). If I can locate an official download
site for version 3.4.6 I will go back too, I use the search capability of
Windwos 7 very often. I wonder why this bug is still listed as unconfirmed.

Thank you very much for your bug report!

However, in order to fix the bug we need to reproduce it first, and this is not
that easy in this case. As you have already stated in comment #2, some other
Mac user does not see the bug on Mac OS X 10.8.2; and I have not succeded to
reproduce the bug myself with LibreOffice 3.6.3.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Intel) --
the attached screenshot shows no unnecessary prefix/suffix characters.

This means that we need to find out more about the machine on which the bug
appears. Could you please ask the Mac user for whom you have reported this
problem:
1) If he uses an older Mac with PPC processor, or a newer one with
   Intel/x86 processor?
2) Which version of Mac OS X he/he uses (10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7 or 10.8)?
3) Which is his main/preferred UI language for MacOS X,
i.e. which language is on top of the list at
System Preferences Language and Text Languages?
4) Which version of LibreOffice he uses that shows the problem?
It is some version older than 3.6.3, but which one ...

There is a good chance that we can reproduce (and fix) the issue when we know
the answers to these questions.

Thank you very very much for your help!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56863] New: : Default empty bitmap fill for areas not consistent on all OS (Linux: black; Win/Mac: white)

2012-11-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56863

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56863
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: : Default empty bitmap fill for areas not consistent
on all OS (Linux: black; Win/Mac: white)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: i...@oas.uzh.ch
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 69684
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69684action=edit
Testcase that shows the effect of the different empy bitmap handling

Problem description:
The default empty bitmap fill for an area is not consistent on all OS. On
Ubuntu its black on Mac and Win its white. In OpenOffice its always white.

This is a interoperability problem: If a user creates a text-box on Win/Mac it
looks good. If he opens the document on Ubuntu the text-box has suddenly a
black background. The other way around (Ubuntu→Win/Mac) it works.

I have not tried to reproduce it on other Linux distributions then Ubuntu.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new slide or document on Windows or Mac.
2. Make a text-box, add some text.
3. Edit 'Area'. Under 'Fill' choose 'Bitmap' → 'Blank'
4. Save the document.
5. Open the Document on Ubuntu.

I attached testcase to illustrate the problem.

Current behavior:
On Ubuntu (all LO versions) the fill is black on Win and Mac the fill is white.
In OpenOffice the fill is always white.

Expected behavior:
Same empty bitmap fill on every OS.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Ubuntu (all)

It seems related to a recent regression, appeared in LibreOffice 3.5.x

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56357] The language selection entry in Language Settings of Options dialogue adding an unknown character prefix and suffix

2012-11-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56357

--- Comment #7 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de ---
While waiting for answers from the user, I like to note down
some ideas about the “unknown character prefix and suffix”.

Both glyphs are somewhat difficult to recognize on the screenshot, but
according to their general shape I would guess that they come from the “Apple
Symbols” font (which is used as a general glyph supplement source by Mac OS X).
In this font, I find only two glyphs which are similar. Both don’t have a
Unicode value assigned to them, but are private glyphs which can be used to
display Unicode values which don’t have a visual representation themselves.

1) The first (opening one) reads “LRE” and is called “uni202A.ChartForm”
in the font, i.e. it is a visual representation for U+202A,
which is the “LEFT-TO-RIGHT EMBEDDING” mark.
2) The second (closing one) reads “PDF” and is called “uni202C.ChartForm”
in the font, i.e. it is a visual representation for U+202C,
which is the “POP DIRECTIONAL FORMATTING” mark.

But this does not yet explain why these two glyphs do appear here; especially
given the fact that both glyphs don’t have an Unicode value on their own.
Ideas:

-- Does the popup text contain -- by some error -- U+202A and U+202C here, and
the System uses the two special visible glyphs to display these invisible
marks?

-- Or does LibreOffice use U+202A and U+202C intentionally here, and is the
problem only that on the specific machine these two marks do get displayed,
instead of being invisible marks just used for text rendering?

-- Or ...?

Of course, I hope some expert for the traditional Chinese UI translation, or
for the code used to display the east-Asian text in the LibreOffice UI could
help to find out what could be the reason for those glyphs to appear there ...

Hi,

We have a company presentation as Powerpoint, if i open it everything is fine.

If you try to move slide 4 to another position it changes to another slide, the
same if you copy the slide, or copy the slide to a new presentation.

The problem occurs on Fedora 17 and OS X so i think on Windows too but didn't
try it.

Thx

Reproduced in 3.6.3 on RFR 17 64bit
Steps to create test document:
0. Start Writer
1. Type or copy-paste several paragraphs of text into document
2. Assign character style Emphasis to all text (all will become italic)
3. Select all text and press Ctrl-I (all will become not italic)
4. Select some words in some paragraphs and press Ctrl-I (words are italic)
5. Save to doc format and File-Reload
Expected: document looking as before saving to doc
Actually: some paragraphs becomes italic from beginning of paragraph until and
including word that indeed should be italic

It is FILESAVE problem, because file, saved by Writer looks in msWord exactly
as in Writer after reopening

PS: may be we should create separate bugreport for this problem?

Testcase: Exporting to doc shows underlined text after reopen the document

Problem description:
If the testcase document is exported to *.doc some text is underlined when
reopening the exported file. In MS Word the exported document has no underlined
Text.

I digged into the content.xml and found that the underlined text comes from the
odt itself ('Internet_20_link' style) but is not shown there.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached Testcase in Writer
2. Save as doc
3. Close Writer
4. Open the exported doc in Writer

Current behavior:
The exported text shows underlined text that was not visible in the original
file.

Expected behavior:
* Show underlined ('Internet_20_link' style) text in the original file.
* OR: Do not export formatting not showed in the original files.

A third Option 'Let us remove the formatting in the exported file' works in the
testcase. But in the original file from the user it did not work. After opening
the document the underlined text was there again. After moving most of the evil
manual formatting into styles it was possible to durably remove underlined text
in the doc by manual reformatting the underlined parts.

Several viewers in iPad/iPhone cannot read ods-files, so I save them as
xls-files. My date-cells are formatted as dd/mm/ (but i tried other
fomats).When displayed on an iPad/iPhone the day-part shows a julian-date (i.e.
daynummer in the year), so a date is showed as something like 165/10/2012, and
the dd-part (only that part) looks like a hyperlink.
I figured out that saving the same file using msOffice97 doen not produce this
strange date-view. So I assume the problem is not in the Apple software.

I tried saving the file using a LibreOffice running on Windows PC and on a
macbook, but the problem is the same.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56875] New: LibreOffice Calc corrupts .dbf files

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 56875

Summary: LibreOffice Calc corrupts .dbf files
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: rob...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All

 Component: Spreadsheet

Created attachment 69698
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69698action=edit
Zip folder of shape files with and without modified .dbf files to illustrate
corruption problem

Simple: when you open a .dbf file associated with a shapefile (.shp), it works
fine, you can edit and save and (sometimes successfully) re-open in Calc.

However, when you open the edited shapefile in a GIS program such as QGIS the
data has be garbled (only showing numeric data).

This bug has emerged recently: I used to use OO and LO for editing .dbf files
all the time and it worked fine for GIS applications. There are a number of
tutorials on the internet that recommend using this technique.

I've tested this behavior with the latest version of LibreOffice on a Windows 7
VM, on Ubuntu 12.04. Interestingly, I checked OpenOffice Calc and found that
the latest version of OO also corrupts .dbf files for use in QGIS.
Also note the .dbt file that is created every time a .dbf file is saved.
Suspect this is at the root of the problem.

Replicable example: extract this .zip file (below), open points.dbf, edit it,
save it, and then load it in QGIS. The results should look like
points-edited-open-office.dbf when opened in QGIS: the attributes are
scrambled.

Replicable dataset to test this on and see what I mean is attached.

Gary,

I need more clarification on which numbers are wrong. I've tried the master
build, cross-check all the numbers displayed in the table, and all of them seem
correct to my eye.

The numbers did change before and after the refresh. But that can be caused by
not refreshing the table after updating the raw data.

For example, the hour data for Dennis x 'Exterior Cleaning' before the refresh
is 04:49. After the refresh it becomes 05:15. When checking the raw data and
filtering manually, the correct answer here is 05:15. It's also possible that
the raw data had changed after the pivot table was generated and the table was
never refreshed. This can also result in inconsistent data between the table
output and the raw data.

Hello,
I did not check all of the numbers. The only reason that I even caught
the error is that I had only one total time for Front Desk. It was 12
hours. When I upgraded to 3.6 it would change the total to another
number when I refreshed the pivot table.
Thank you,
Gary

Checkout bug#47148 - this is a really nasty issue that will take several man

No doubt it could be 'fixed' in a trivial way - but that would risk loosing
images shared with other documents I suspect.

I have removed this from hard hack list. After discussion with developers, we
are staying away from minor bugs for hard hack candidates.

Best Regards

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52433] MEMORY LEAK: particular .odt leading to CRASH after several 'save as'

2012-11-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52433

It seems there are two problems:
- a bad and buggy images management inherited from OpenOffice and StarOffice
that would probably require weeks of man work to be fixed.
- this bug, a memory leak that appears when you save a file with images from
writer; this bug is NOT inherited from OpenOffice and has appeared in
LibreOffice 3.5.1, and is present on any version of LibreOffice 3.5 and 3.6,
and was not in 3.4.x.

Solving this bug could be probably done by analyzing what changes have been
done in the images management between LibreOffice 3.4.6 and 3.5.1, identifying
the regression, and correct the bug.

This might not take weeks.

Note that for several users, like me, LibreOffice is no longer usable (I have
switched to Apache OpenOffice, waiting for this bug to be corrected).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56727] EDITING: CRASH after deleting a line inside a drawing inside a group of a group in writer

2012-11-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56727

--- Comment #2 from Francisco franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com ---
This is something very similar to what I get sometimes using Writer. Not only
deleting a line inside 2 nested groups, but also simply editing them, and
copypasting some of inner components. I can not confirm it is the same bug,
but I guess is related, though I draw directly in Writer.

OK, I had a look at this, seems for DOCX we never wrote replacement images for
OLE object in the past, so this is an issue for master as well. This is
something that works in RTF, though.

I have a local patch to get this working, I'll try to clean it up soon and get
it into master.

I have a file which contains a WMF file which shows a scientific curve (Proton
resonance). Perhaps it was created with MestreC. Libre office shows it as
blank. I have multiple of those but cant show more until it is published.

Similar not not entirely like in that bug report. Also, if I am to understand
how the numbering works with bugs, they are sequential which would mean that
bug was submitted long after this one was. Is it possible to combine the two
or close one in favor of the other?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56887] New: PDF Export uses the template name rather than document name for the PDF Title field

I was exporting a document based on a template to PDF. It correctly assigned
the filename to match the document file name.

When I opened the PDF document, the title of the PDF is reported as the base
templates name, rather than the document's file name. Also, that might be a
good field to allow the user to customize on creation, as it might be different
than that the original file name is anyway.
