when you import data from some external source and end up with numbers or dates
in text format (withe the apostrophe as first character) I see no way to
convert the cell contents to a different format except manually removing the '.

sure there are some macros out there or you should have checked the data type
during import. but sometimes you are in that situation and a nice way out

Funny. What happened to this site. do you have any suggestion?
I will do my best to make it work

Hopefully this just a minor issue (the site doesn't get much traffic, so we

Ah, okay. Based on Tashi's response, it sounded like the site had existed at
one time.

(Tashi did sound interested in helping to fix the site, and perhaps would be
interested in creating one if we don't have such a localization yet)

Cut comment.

Way to reproduce:
1. Pick any cell on new spreadsheet, lets say C5, enter any text in it, copy it
lets say 10 cells down.
2. Pick cell D5, enter any number in it, and copy it same as in step 1.
3. Pick cell C10, right click, ADD COMMENT, write anything in comment.
4. Press ESC, comment will collapse.
5. Hower your mouse over C10 and comment will appear.
6. Move your mouse away from C10 and comment will dissapear, but part of
comment will stay on screen!

Picture attached.

Comment is always cut at cell bottom border.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33899] Regression: Autocorrection replaces dates with fractions

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33899

--- Comment #23 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
(In reply to comment #22)
So there is a definite bug in cells with Fraction formatting. CTL-Z clears
the cell rather than reverting the autocorrect.

IMHO that is a *different* bug. This bug is that autocorrect should not get in
the way of data entry by default, that is not be autocorrupt. It is not a
good default expectation that autocorrect will corrupt your data entry, but
you can press CTRl-Z to undo that.

Several points:
- did WinXP put back automatically all the fonts you had put aside or just
those from WinXP by default (I found this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_Windows_fonts)? (of course,
wikipedia is not official and there can be some mistakes but it may help)
- (naive question I know, it's just to be sure) did you restart at least
Windows session after the cleaning? I ask because I wonder if Windows doesn't
keep fonts in memory
- could you send me/attach ARIALUNI.TTF font so I can test it? (or at least
tell its precise version since I found some download links about this font but
am not sure version would correspond to yours)
- are your video drivers up to date? Indeed I also thought about a hardware
acceleration or anti aliasing components.
I'll search about how to disable these by changing direcly profile directory
files since you can't change these options on LO without starting it obviously
:-)

Just the one from Windows XP as shown in my dir listing. I did not restart
Windows, but why bother since Windows throw its fonts back right away? I can't
find the version number of ARIALUNI.TTF file. You can get a 17.6 MB zipped copy
from http://uploadmirrors.com/download/ML7VLUDB/ARIALUNI.zip ...

I am using an older ATI video driver v9.4 (can't use the latest one due to
video problems and I used newer drivers last year that didn't fix LO and other
problems). See http://zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/computers.txt for my
detailed primary computer specifications.

there are already some FLOSS libraries which implement this, but are
unfortunately not integrated

provide a test document and add perf to the whiteboard line.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33899] Regression: Autocorrection replaces dates with fractions

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33899

--- Comment #24 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Hmm, possibly. But I think since this is an enhancement, the errant CTL-Z
action to revert autocorrect in calc ought to be addressed as the whole issue
of intelligent autocorrection is reviewed.

This is what I believe happens with calc: the auto correct occurs in the text
input box, the corrected text is written to the cell, the revert occurs
against write to the cell and deletes it.

Since this autocorrect enhancement will require adjustment of the text input
logic, function of the CTL-Z revert should be adjusted to match at the same
time.

Eike R. suggests that is probably to be found in EditEngine (see bug 60151#c3).

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: zmo...@hotmail.com

Sample document to ilustrate Bug

Greek symbols has names according to Language in LibO, for example in
Lithuanian I write %ALFA for Greek ALPHA letter. When I open that document in
Writer with different Language, then that letter automatically is converted to
correct name, f.e. if Language in LibO is English then after open and enter in
to formula editor that name of Greek letter becomes %ALPHA. This OK.

But this not apply to Italic Greek Letters. F.e. if I write %ivarfi
(Lithuanian language) and open that document in Writer with English language
then in formula editor (formula must be updated to see effect) mentioned name
stays same %ivarfi.

Attached sample document with Greek letters created in Writer with Lithuanian
Language.

I also can reproduce this with LibO v3.6.4.3

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62175] New: FORMATTING: Style information lost after slide copy

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62175

Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: mar...@michels.cc

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.1.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Objects do not keep their assigned format style and revert back to default
making some presentations useless, at least unpredictable

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create new doc in Impress
2. Define two custom styles and make some visual changes for ease of
recognition and differentiation
3. Create a new slide
4. Add some boxes and contents, apply the two newly defined styles to new boxes
/ objects
5. Save the document
6. Create a duplicate of slide by using the right click duplicate function
7. Create a duplicate of slide by using ctrl-c / v combo
8. Create empty slide and copy all objects (not the slide) from first slide by
ctrl-c / v combo
9. Save the doc and close Impress
10. Reopen the doc and be surprised
11. First page is fine, last page (empty slide with copied objects) is also
fine
12. The two slide copies (duplicate and ctrl-c/v) have same objects with
different styles - they are now default style

Current behavior:
See above - object styles get lost and revert back to default under certain
conditions

Expected behavior:
Objects keep their assigned styles, no matter how they have been created.

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: mar...@michels.cc
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.1.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Negative indents in style definitions are not retained after closing a document

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new style in Impress to achieve a hanging indent
2. Modify style and go to indents tab
3. Set space before text to 10mm
4. Set first line indent to -10mm (to achieve the hang in first line indent)
5. Create a textboxt, add some lines of blind text, apply style
6. Applied formatting works perfectly, producing a hanging indent
7. Save document, close Impress
8. Reopen document
9. Text in box is no longer a hanging indent
10. Check style settings under indent tab unveils that first line indent has
been set to 0 (negative value omitted)

Current behavior:
See above - negative indents as part of style definitions are not properly
saved. This seems to affect only custom styles, when using the default style
things seem to be okay... Also if a hanging indent format will be used to
create a new style from, the negative indent will be lost right away...

Expected behavior:
Defined values (also negative indents) should be kept.

Yes. The entry fields work just fine when you click, double-click the file.
However, if you have created a directory to USER / templates / and will not
start in the template manager. Templates let the input fields of the dialog
 manage inactive.

my intention was rather that both 61291 + 61959 are unconfirmed but describing
the same bug.
One of them should be marked as duplicate and the other as confirmed.
But I think that is the task of the posters to do it in collaboration.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51780] default to Firebird not HSQLDB in Base

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51780

--- Comment #7 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
An alternative way to proceed, rather than using the FireBird API directly and
writing a native SDBC driver, would be to:

 - Link LibreOffice's embedded FireBird driver directly to
   the/a FireBird ODBC driver
(without the use of an ODBC driver manager)

 - Ship the FireBird ODBC driver embedded with LibreOffice

 - Make the embedded FireBird driver a redirection to an ad-hoc ODBC URL
or reuse the ODBC-SDBC layer in some other way.
   That's how the sdbc:mysql:odbc:, sdbc:mysql:jdbc: and sdbc:embedded:hsqldb
URL schemes actually work :) The difference being that for HSQLDB, JDBC *is*
   its native API.

We would possibly pay some performance penalty, but it could be less work.

Open question: can we redirect FireBird's read()/write() to our internal data
structures in this scenario? This could be a blocking issue for this
alternative way.

Hi,

First of all: please read https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport .

 1. Save as does not work.

I wrote up a document a couple of days ago and I did what I could to try and
save it and today I can't find it.

What does File Recent Documents say? Not there?
Is this reproducible by creating a new document and save it again?

 2. Another document I wrote a few days ago, appeared from somewhere, but is
frozen and I can't do anything with it.

Is it possible to share that document (attach it to the bug report), so we can
reproduce that behavior?

 3. The name file does not work.

Can you be a bit more specific? (step-by-step) how to reproduce this 'not
working'-behavior.

Kind regards,
Joren

For example open attached sample document and convert it to Word2003 document.
If you open that DOC in LibO and refresh formula (by double-clicking that

only one). If open that DOC in Word2007 and refresh that formula the you see
that right bracket jumps to left side.

Yes, I know that, thank you.
But that's a work-around, not a solution.
I have often to edit old presentation, even done by others.
I really consider this enhancement pretty obvious: since a presentation is
usually heavilly (not-only-but) text based, I thought an export to text
function almost mandatory.
Coming from web design (where I try to switch from print to screen with a css)
I consider the ability to work on one file, and export to many formats, a big
advantage.
Thank you

Just in case this is seen as an excuse for not fixing this bug in LibreOffice,
this bug (as in the current behaviour) is *not present* in Apple's own Numbers

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 62172] Libre office is dysfunctional

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62172

--- Comment #3 from Jorendc joren.libreoff...@telenet.be ---
Hi,

I'm not living in Canada or USA. But anyhow, to see things improved we need to
write it down. I'm not a developer, so explain it to me alone will not solve
this problem.

Please also do not reply to the email you receive. Please browse to this bug
report https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62172 instead.

First question: what version of LibreOffice are you currently using?

You said the 'save as' function didn't work. To determine where the problem is,
we need to reproduce it first (if we can't reproduce it, we don't know what to
fix/what is wrong). To determine it can you please try the following:

* Open LibreOffice
* Go to File Recent Documents
* A drop-down menu will open

Second question: is your document listed in that list drop-down list?

Then, to dig a bit further:
* Open Writer (the text editor)
* Type something random in the document
* File  Save As...
* Browse to a directory where you want to save the file (ie the Desktop)
* Give the document a name and hit 'Save'.
* Close LibreOffice and go to your Desktop.

Third question: is the document stored on your desktop?

This is a core function of LibreOffice. It seems not likely this is a bug, but
more 'not saved by accident'.

Kind regards,
Joren

This is an enhancement request - and yes, I see the point. What I usually do
(this is for Linux):

Run Xnest like this:

 Xnest -scrns 2 -ac :1

Or run Xephyr like this:

 Xephyr -br +xinerama -screen 1024x768 -origin 1024,0 -screen 640x480+1024+0 :1
-ac

(and then in a shell export DISPLAY=:1.0; ooffice --impress for both cases)

No idea if a similar multi-screen emulation exists for Windows.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56156] : Saving document to a CMIS AtomPub server causes LibreOffice to crash

2013-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56156

--- Comment #3 from Will Abson will.ab...@gmail.com ---
I confirm the issue does not reproduce on LibreOffice 4.0.

The original cause was the fact that I had used the native web script-based
CMIS endpoint in Alfresco (http://server/service/cmis) rather than the now
recommended servlet endpoint using the Chemistry Java client
(http://server/cmisatom). Both now appear to work successfully in LO 4.0
against Alfresco 4.2.c.

--- Comment #8 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
Created attachment 76344
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=76344action=edit
more minimal testcase

This testcase is a bit more minimal in its difference(s) between the two
reports, for better clarity. In Robert's testcase, the two reports had
DIFFERENT Detail section heights, which changes the whole layout and make
comparisons moot.

There are actually several problems visible here:

 1) IMHO trailing (not leading) vertical blank space should be
eaten by a pagebreak.
This would make this particular testcase not trigger this bug
in the same way, since each page would contain the same number
of records.
Looking closely at the execution result of the
detail_dont_hold_together report, one sees that page 2 begins
with the trailing blank space of detail section ID=9. That's a bit silly.
If detail ID=9 fit into page 1 (except for its trailing blank space),
the trailing blank space should just disappear, and page 2 should start
with a new detail section (instead of trailing blank space that belongs to
the previous detail section).

Same holds for vertical blank space WITHIN a detail (or other) section:
start the next control right at top of effective area of next page
(effective area = after header, before footer), don't take over vertical
blank space that did not fit in previous area.

(You may notice that what I have in mind is the TeX/LaTeX behaviour.)

THIS IS INDEPENDENT OF THE keep together setting.

 2) If one looks closely at the result of the detail_dont_hold_together
report, one actually sees that the yellow line below 9/Liesbeth
OVERLAPS WITH THE FOOTER. That is made more clear by the report
Detail_dont_hold_together_footer.

This also causes on page 2, the fact that the yellow line at bottom is
on page 2, but the Name Eike on page 3.

This looks like a Writer bug, actually.

 3) In the generated result, the detailNN tables should have
Allow table to split across pages and columns
set to false, but don't.

That's my understanding of what *this* bug is about.

For the fonts put back automatically, do you mean WinXP also retrieves the
ones you collected during the last years?
I could understand it retrieves automatically the by default fonts but not
 the others!?

No rush. I will just use old Office 2000 SR3 and Apache's OpenOffice. :) It
looks like Windows XP restores its old required fonts.

  2) If one looks closely at the result of the detail_dont_hold_together
report, one actually sees that the yellow line below 9/Liesbeth
OVERLAPS WITH THE FOOTER. That is made more clear by the report
 Detail_dont_hold_together_footer.

This looks like a Writer bug, actually.

No, it is not as such a Writer bug. The ODT generated by reportbuilder puts
*all* shape elements of the whole detail section in the *topmost* (first) row
of the DetailNN table. It just happens to work because apparently rows are
allowed to overlap in Writer. Whether this is guaranteed by the OpenDocument
standard is another question entirely.

This may be rather hard to fix while still allowing shapes to overlap with
report controls like they now do. I'm not quite clear on whether it is
important for them to be allowed to overlap...
