[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44887] Enhancement request: Coretext rendering on Mac OS X

2013-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44887

--- Comment #7 from Tor Lillqvist tlillqv...@suse.com ---
*This* bug report is already resolved, will stay that way as LibreOffice now
does use CoreText. Handyman, please open a detailed new bug specifically for
your fuzziness issue, and please provide a screenshot.

Note that nobody else has mentioned any fuzziness problem in relation to the
CoreText code. The known problems with (CoreText-based) text rendering in some
contexts in LibreOffice, some of which might already be fixed, are all related
to placement of glyphs, that is suboptimal, jumpy when text is edited or
added, or broken, especially for complex text (Arabic etc).

Doesn't work with KDE SC 4.10.5 and LO 4.0.2. Perhaps this bug started in some
KWin version between 4.8 and 4.10?

Hi UCLAgeek,

welcome in Bugzilla and thanks for the issue.

Of course the outline view is great - that stands even without your examples.
So I set this issue to New as enhancement.
Version to 3.3.0: it reflects the oldest version of LibreOffice with the
behaviour that you want to change.

For the rest I find it a pity that - reading from your description - you have
little or maybe no experience with the Navigator yourself. Which if course is
strange as you write this plea for a new function.
And also a pity for your own work ;) course it is a handy tool that offers more
then the outline view.

Kind regards,
Cor

(In reply to comment #8)
The issue with dual version HSQLDB will be fixed with the release of 2.3.0.
An alternative jar will be released at the same time as the standard jar.
This can be used side-by-side with an HSLQDB jar of an earlier version.

Hi Fred,

where do I get this alternative *.jar-file. I have just tested the hsqldb.jar
from 2.3.0 and it works the same as before. Adding it to the classpath will
destroy the version of internal hsqldb of LO.

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

Created attachment 84130
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=84130action=edit
Test file created in Excel 2007 based on Kohei's test file, but only 87 rows

Problem description:
When you open a .ods created with Excel, LibreOffice appends msoxl: before
the formula. A =A1*1.1 thus becomes msoxl:=A1*1.1, which can only be
evaluated as text.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Excel 2007: Create a new worksheet
2. Excel 2007: Enter formulas as per Kohei's shared-formula-memory-test.ods
(see http://kohei.us/2013/08/15/shared-formula-to-reduce-memory-usage/;)
3. Excel 2007: File Save As Open Document Spreadsheet
4. LibreOffice 4.1: Open the above document

Current behavior:
Cells contain text that can not be evaluated as formula. Example for row B,
in column order:
msoxl:=A1+1, msoxl:=A2*1.1, msoxl:=B2/100*PI(), msoxl:=SUM(A2:C2)
Expected behavior:
Cells should contain formulas. Example for row B, in column order:
=A1+1, =A2*1.1, =B2/100*PI(), =SUM(A2:C2)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46447] Embedded Pictures disappear from document (presentation, .odp) contents

Sebastian Hölz sho...@geomar.de changed:

   What|Removed |Added

Version|3.3.2 release |4.1.0.4 release

--- Comment #63 from Sebastian Hölz sho...@geomar.de ---
Hi,

I just experienced a similar problem and found a way to fix it.

Problem
===
Win 7, LibreOffice 4.1, Impress, large presentation
(D:/Dokumente/Dokumente/Report_Phase1/report.odp, ~100 slides) with lots of
linked images. Everything worked just fine until this morning. I think the
program just knew that today is my deadline ... when I opened up the file: all
links broken, no images displayed anymore.

I noticed on funny thing: In the missing file frame, the link was pointing to
the some target e.g.:
file:///D:/Dokumente/Dokumente/Report_Phase1/Figures/CSEM/image.png

At a first glance this looked OK, but looking closer I noticed the
Dokumente/Dokumente, which is incorrect. In fact, the true path should have
been something like:
file:///D:/Dokumente/Report_Phase1/Figures/CSEM/image.png

TRACKING DOWN THE PROBLEM
=
I opened a new file (odp) and copied one slide containing a broken image link
from the original presentation to the new test file. On a second slide I used
the dialog (Insert - Picture - from File) to again link to that same image.

I then saved the presentation and re-opened it with the result that the link on
the first page was still broken, but the second link worked just fine. I then
unzipped the odp-file and took a look at the content.xml file. The two links
looked as follows:
../../../../Dokumente/Report_Phase1/Figures/CSEM/image.png (broken link)
../Figures/CSEM/image.png (new working link).

NOTE: the actual paths were much longer, I have shortened them a bit for this
post.

BUG FIX
===
I used find replace (../../../../Dokumente/Report_Phase1/Figures -
../Figures) to replace the incorrect links in the content.xml file and
re-integrated this file into the unzipped odp-file ... problem solved.

OK, neither do I know, if this bug fully relates to the ones described above
nor do I don't know, why Impress is doing this to us, but at least I found a
way to fix this problem for me.

Hope this is helpful to track down the problem, because this is REALLY
annoying.

Cheers

Sebastian

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68179] New: EDITING: Index editing

2013-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68179

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68179

   Summary: EDITING: Index editing
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: holzi...@googlemail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
when editing an index entry it will be deleted.
I'm using the german version, so I have to guess about the english
menue-structure and order-names.

Steps to reproduce:
1. right click on an existing index entry
2. in the context menue chose Indexentry...
3. edit the entry, then click OK, then click close
4. the entry is deleted
5. to proof click Edit and look what the last undo reads
6. btw - undo doesn't work, too for this

Current behavior:
Editing an index entry deletes it

Expected behavior:
The index entry should have the typed contents instead of beeing deleted.

Version: 4.0.4.2 release

Reproduced in 4.1.0 on Fedora RFR 64 bit
Steps to reproduce:
0. Open sample.odt file form first attachment
1. Export it as PDF
2. open produced PDF and see on picture of envelope near top of first page
But if we disable option PDF/A-1a then it exports correctly.
IMHO it is not a bug. But some improvement is still needed.

Excel 2007 and 2010 write only ODF 1.0/1.1 ISO/IEC 26300:2006 and write formula
expressions in their own msoxl namespace, syntax and semantics. We do not
support that.

Excel 2013 properly supports ODF 1.2 including the OpenFormula (ODFF)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68183] New: FILESAVE: Unnecessary automatic styles in content.xml

2013-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68183

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68183
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILESAVE: Unnecessary automatic styles in
content.xml
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: holger.schmithue...@awi.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.3.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
When creating paragraphs using existing styles, Writer creates automatic styles
for each individual paragraph (also for headings) in content.xml (document
saved as odt or fodt) . This creates unnecessary and confusing overhead in the
xml-file like:

office:automatic-styles
style:style style:name=P1 style:family=paragraph
style:parent-style-name=Text_20_body
style:text-properties officeooo:paragraph-rsid=00063317/
/style:style
style:style style:name=P2 style:family=paragraph
style:parent-style-name=Title
style:text-properties officeooo:paragraph-rsid=00063317/
/style:style
style:style style:name=T1 style:family=text
style:text-properties officeooo:rsid=00063317/
/style:style
/office:automatic-styles

Whereas the actual content reads:

office:body
office:text
text:p text:style-name=P2text:span text:style-name=T1This is my
title/text:span/text:p
text:p text:style-name=P1text:span text:style-name=T1This is a text
body paragraph./text:span/text:p
/office:text
/office:body

When manually removing direct formatting (by selecting all text and clicking
Format - Clear direct formatting), the same information is stored already a
bit cleaner, but still with the unused and useless style T1:

office:automatic-styles
style:style style:name=T1 style:family=text
style:text-properties officeooo:rsid=00063317/
/style:style
/office:automatic-styles

office:body
office:text
text:p text:style-name=TitleThis is my title/text:p
text:p text:style-name=Text_20_bodyThis is a text body paragraph./text:p
/office:text
/office:body

When manually reassigning the styles to each paragraph (by selecting each
paragraph and double clicking on the respective style), the same information is
stored straight and clean:

office:automatic-styles/

office:body
office:text
text:p text:style-name=TitleThis is my title/text:p
text:p text:style-name=Text_20_bodyThis is a text body paragraph./text:p
/office:text
/office:body

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a new Writer document
2. Open the styles window (F11)
3. Select the style Title
4. Enter a title This is my title
5. Select the style Text Body
6. Enter a paragraph This is a text body paragraph.
7. Save as odt or fodt: Three (unnecessary) automatic styles are saved
now either:
8a. Remove all direct formatting by clicking Format - Clear direct formatting
9a. Save again: The content is clean, but office:automatic-styles keeps the
useless element named T1.
or alternatively:
8b. Click in the title and then double click on the style Title
9b. Click in the text paragraph and then double click on the style Text Body
10b. Save again: This removes unnecessary automatic styles completely and saves
the content nice and clean.

Current behavior:
See above steps 7. and 9a.

Expected behavior:
See above step 10b. This should be the default behaviour without doing steps 8b
and 9b.

Thanks for improvement!

These documents are built by outside agencies and downloaded from their site by

This should just work, especially if it goes in OpenOffice. This is a
regression.

Thank you for the work around; it should assist us with this currently
downloaded document. But a long term fix is needed.

Screenshot showing the difference in the data on the datasource panel and the
spreadsheet

I have a SQL server database linked to a ODB database with a single query. The
connection and the query run well either in ODBC or JDBC.

In Calc I can invoke the query on the datasource panel and I can see the query
data all right.

When I drag the query name or the query data from the datasource to the
spreadsheet the text columns are not copied, instead the columns are filled
with #N/D (Portuguese for #N/A?)

This behaviour only appears when I use JDBC. With ODBC this works well.

The stranger aspect of this is that I can see the whole data in the datasource
panel but not in the spreadsheet.

Tested also with a 3.6 release and the same behaviour occurs.

The attached image may help understand.

I did confirm that this bug does exist in 4.0.4.2.

I would also like to add that instead of debating whether the manual page
breaks should be honored as past versions have or should not be honored to be
compatible with other programs why not put a simple check box when using
scaling by page use manual page break when scaling. No more debate - the user
can choose - making LibreOffice the better program to use in this case. And the
argument saying that honoring the manual page breaks is not possible (as I have
seen on some postings) doesn't seem correct when the older version used to do
just that.

(In reply to comment #34)
is there anybody still experiencing this bug with recent LibO 4.0.4 or 4.1.0
 releases?

YES. Behavior is still having to use percent setting for Manual Row Breaks to
work properly.

The use of Fit print range(s) to width/height or Fit print range(s) on
number of pages ignores Manual Row Breaks.UNLESS

Just discovered that if your document print-range (both width and height) is
larger than the print paper the use of Fit print range(s) to width/height
DOES work properly with Manual Row Breaks.

The problem presently is the print is NOT being AUTOMATICALLY scaled to fit
your criteria.

What needs to be done is change Fit print range(s) on number of pages to
Fit print range(s) on number of pages (width/height) that is: print on [#
pages wide] and [# pages high] and AUTOMATICALLY scale as necessary.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67000] Export PDF in the same path of source ODT

I thinks he wants the PDF output to be saved in the same folder of the ODT
input.

actually LibO doesn't do that and saves the PDF in the last used saving
location which may differ from the ODT input folder. it has always been like
that.

some user would like this behaviour others wouldn't.
setting a new option for this could make everyone happy.

I mark this report as NEW and change summary to a much clearer one.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68167] Create an outline view similar to that in MS Word and Apple Pages

2013-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68167

--- Comment #2 from UCLAgeek scorp1...@gmail.com ---
Hi Cor,

I tried using Navigator a couple of times in class and honestly it really just
kind of slowed me down and felt a bit awkward. The key with outline view is
it's simplicity. I can promote and demote with a simple tab or shift+tab as
well was creating a new section with a simple return. Navigator proved to be a
bit distracting because I had to have a second window open while I typed. There
is just something about seeing the outline in the document as you write.

Here is the external link to the test kit:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dgjd5arolmd270s/Master%20document%20test%20case.zip

No crash for me under Linux / Ubuntu 12.04 x86-64. I did tests with both LO
4.0.4 and LO 4.1.0.

Please could you confirm which version you are using, 4.0.4 or 4.1.0 ?

Best regards. JBF

--- Comment #2 from Viktor Nilsson vik...@karmin.se ---
I have noticed the same issue, using libreoffice 4 some months ago, on Mac OS
X.
I think the issue also concerned version 3 and openoffice, I think I tried but
don't remember.

I have also seen someone on ubuntuforums having the same issue:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/31303/how-do-you-refresh-formulas-in-openoffice-libreoffice-calc

PS. (rant)
I think this issue is really serious. I stopped using spreadsheet software for
my science after noting this. AWK scripts or a full RDBMS should not be the
most simple option in 2013!

AOO 3.4.1 is not the ancestor of LO 3.6, so this bug can't be a regression from
AOO. Changed summary accordingly.

That said how this file has been produced? The table is not a true table but is
build by joining frames. I suspect another problem with a RTF file produced by
Crystal Report or some software like that.

--- Comment #3 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbf.fa...@sud-ouest.org ---
AOO 3.4.1 is not the ancestor of LO 3.6, so this bug can't be a regression from
AOO. Changed summary accordingly.

The Events Calendar is currently rendering as a completely blank page. It

Open the attached RTF file with LO 4.x. Tables table1 and table2 should have
non zero spacing between border and content in each cell, as shown in the pdf
export of the same file in MS-Word.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68202] New: Make sure that the app doesn’t block multiple concurrent sessions, either locally or remotely

2013-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 68202

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified

Make sure that the app doesn’t block multiple concurrent sessions, either
locally or remotely. The app must not depend on global mutexes or other
named-objects to check for or block multiple concurrent sessions. If the app
can’t allow multiple concurrent sessions per user, use per-user or per-session
namespaces for mutexes or other named-objects. See link below for more
information:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/windows/desktop/aa383490(v=vs.85).aspx

There's a AOO patch that fixes the problem, but it does by blocking more than
one instance of LibreOffice and showing an error message. This doesn't work for
us as we should be able to open several instances in the same session on
Windows 7+ (so we can pin them in the TaskBar).
