[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69527] Writer crashes when pasting or inserting picture from file

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69527

Thanks for looking into my issue.

It does not happen to every file and picture I paste. That's way I attached the
files I have had a crash with (simple document and simple picture, nothing
confidential). Some time in the past I experienced the same type of crashes in
Draw (not reported then) ... and with Libre Office ver 3.6.4 these crashes
disappeared.

As I couldn't complete my work I uninstalled LO v.4.x yesterday and installed
version 3.6.4, which I found most stable in the past. With version 3.6.4 I
can't reproduce reported problems.

I will install v.4 again later today and test the profile trick you mentioned.

The zoom setting is stored in the files. There are various zoom modes; in case
it's explicitly set to a given percent value, then it's saved/loaded from/to
doc/docx/rtf as well, see sw/qa/extras/ww8export/data/zoom.doc in core.git for
an example that's working.

I would need a sample that contains the zoom value, but not loaded/saved back,
then I can have a look.

times.
Each time pasting another cell content, I have to hit CTRL-V on more time than

The problem also shows up, by pasting to other programms like Wordpad, Word,

Using shift-paste, or the mouse-right-klick-paste instead of CTRL-V, doesn't
solve the problem.

I don't know, if it's a problem with Calc, or the Windows clipboard. However I
only got this problem by using Calc.

I use Libre Office since a few moment and I've configured the formating

However, when I try to use again this personal style, there is mistakes in the
repetition of the format.

I explain myself :

If y have a title in police 13 underligned and 0,76cm of marging of text, the
first title is correct, but then, some of the format are loosing (for exemple
the police became 10, or the marging of text became 3,00... and so without no
reason...

I hope you can fix it, because ecluding this, I love to use libre office

Sincerely,

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached file.

makes it blue and underlined again.
4. Make the same text italic - now it works as expected.

odt/ods-files stored at NAS cannot opened for write-access, using double click
at W7 explorer !

However
- files could be opened out of LIBRE-Menue open file
- file could be opened by double click out of FreeCommander instead of W7
explorer
- LibreOffice files stored as DOC-File instead of ODT could be opened at W7
explorer w/o problems !

Looks like, that ODT/ODS-File are blocked by explorer as unknown user !

During tests (Deinstallation and new installation actual version) attached
error messages appears first time - closing these PIDs continued installation,
problem however still existing.

For the sake of correctness. You don't use debarkations in english, for
example. I'm a native spanish(castillan) speaker, and I've never used or seen
being used arribos in this way.

(In reply to comment #22)
There is a workaround for unreadable characters. In Control Panel - Regional
and Language Options - Language tab, check the two checkboxes of
 Supplemental language support.

That is a Catch22... You need to Install system fonts which require a reboot
(assuming you have your Windows XP install CD at hand)...

So when you are faced with the unreadable message that asks for a Reboot should
you at that point install the fonts which also require a reboot? :)

Example of “arribos” in an airport.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LnsxgLs6l-Q/UM6HgiEVzDI/AXI/ausrzfL_Ico/s320/arribos+2.jpg

The difference is, arribo is not a loanword, you can find it in books; and if
in your region is not commonly used, that does not mean it doesn’t exist. I’m a
native speaker as well, and that does not mean anything in this discussion. And
as I said, the banner is old, we’d better kill it off.

With the locale English-US like your.
When I enter 20/8 is entered as text not as date.
When I enter 8/20 is correctly interpreted as 08/20/13

Me too, on a fresh virgin cell.
But if I previously format the cell as a date (no matter what specific date
format) then I experience the behavior I described.
Did you format the cell as date

I you enter TODAY() in a blank cell, what date do you see?
I see TODAY(), but I guess you mean if I write =TODAY(), in which case I see
09/19/13

I'm eager to learn a lot about how dates are handled, but there is a bug here,
because interpreting 8/20 as augusth 8th 2013 and 20/8 as august 8th 2014
doesn't make any sense under any kind of settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69569] New: Implementation of YEARFRAC function inconsistent with Excel

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69569

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69569
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Implementation of YEARFRAC function inconsistent with
Excel
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: em...@christian-fries.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 86136
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86136action=edit
Attachment: Spreadsheet to verify implementation (requires LibreOffice Add-In
Obba.oxt)

The implementation of YEARFRAC(start, end, basis) for basis = 1 does not agree
with
a) the Excel implementation and
b) with the OASIS Documentation (remark: in addition it appears as if the OASIS
Documentation has a typo) and
c) with the OpenOffice implementation (which doesn't agree with Excel either).

Remark: b) might have got fixed via bug 40100, but since the OASIS
Documentation is not compliant with Excel a) remains (and it is likely that
future bug reports will pop up) - see below.
Remark: Don't care about c), the implementation is even worse.

A re-implementaiton of the Excel 2013 YEARFRAC(start, end, basis) can be found
here:
http://svn.finmath.net/finmath%20lib/trunk/src/main/java/net/finmath/time/daycount/DayCountConvention_ACT_ACT_YEARFRAC.java

A spreadsheet to test the day count methods can be found at
http://finmath.net/spreadsheets/Day%20%Count%Fractions.zip

** On the OASIS Documentation **

The algorithm documented in
https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=39507 appears to
be not compliant with Excel's implementation. For Procedure E line 65 states
if A and is-leap-year(year(date1)) then return 366. However, condition A is
year1 != year2. It appears as if this would imply the rule if
is-leap-year(year(date1)) and is-leap-year(year(date2)) then return 365 (which
is not what OpenOffice is doing, neither LibreOffice, nor Excel - and which
does not make sense).

For the implementation of Excel line 65 should read

8. Otherwise, if is-leap-year(year(date1)) and is-leap-year(year(date2)) return
366.

LibreOffice is a bit closer to Excel than OpenOffice is, but both are wrong.
LibreOffice 4.1 implements in the rule 8. as is-leap-year(year(date1)) OR
is-leap-year(year(date2))

** On the Excel Implementation **

In another comment it was claimed, that Excel implements ACT/ACT AFB. I do find
a proof for this claim. In fact, I believe that ACT/ACT AFB is slightly
different.
That said, I would like to remark, that in many financial applications act/act
day count fraction are calculated using ACT/ACT ISDA. This method has some
advantages and the algorithm is much simpler. An implementation of ACT/ACT ISDA
can be found at
http://svn.finmath.net/finmath%20lib/trunk/src/main/java/net/finmath/time/daycount/DayCountConvention_ACT_ACT_ISDA.java

See also
http://svn.finmath.net/finmath%20lib/trunk/src/main/java/net/finmath/time/daycount/
and http://finmath.net/topics/daycountingandschedules

** Test Cases **

YEARFRAC(30.08.1984, 06.07.1990, 1)
OpenOffice 4.0:5,850...(NOT OK)
LibreOffice 4.1:5,847...(OK)
Excel 2013.:5,847...

YEARFRAC(30.12.1999, 04.01.2000, 1)
OpenOffice 4.0:5/365(OK)
LibreOffice 4.1:5/366(NOT OK)
Excel 2013.:5/365

YEARFRAC(30.12.2000, 04.01.2001, 1)
OpenOffice 4.0:5/366(NOT OK)
LibreOffice 4.1:5/366(NOT OK)
Excel 2013.:5/365

** Suggested Fixes **

- Make the implementation compliant with Excel's implementation (both do not
implement a standard, so I would call Excel's implementation a reference).
- Make the documentation compliant with Excel's implementation.
- Consider adding ACT/ACT ISDA.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69570] New: CAB file integrity is checked AFTER uninstalling previous version

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69570

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69570
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: CAB file integrity is checked AFTER uninstalling
previous version
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: pedl...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: NEW
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

I downloaded an installer for 4.1.2.2 but for some reason the file was
corrupted (although it is good enough to get through most of the install
process)

Install process run as expected, asking for the usual options, uninstalled the
previous version and then stopped with error 1335 reporting that the cab file
was damaged.

This left me without any LO version (the previous was uninstalled and the new
one wasn't installed because of the corrupted file).

I suggest that file verification is done BEFORE uninstalling the previous
version.

If there is some problem with the new installer at least the user can continue
to work with the currently installed version.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64275] EDITING: Cursor position is lost when moving the cursor up and down

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64275

--- Comment #2 from Patrick Moody patrickmood...@gmail.com ---
I just downloaded and installed:
Version: 4.1.1.2
Build ID: 7e4286b58adc75a14f6d83f53a03b6c11fa2903
to try this again. I saw exactly the same behaviour as before.

With this text:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP
abcdefghijkl

If you place the cursor at the end of the first line, use the arrow keys to
move the cursor down 2 lines and then back up again, it will end up between L
and M. Interestingly, trying the same thing while typing this message on the
website, it behaves as it should. When I move the cursor back up with the
arrow key it returns to exactly where it started, as it should.

--- Comment #6 from Uwe Dippel udip...@gmail.com ---
Okay, the imagemagick ghostscript tricks do not work.
But downgrade to 3.6.7 works. The interface looks like a pile of c***, but
the images come out properly in presentation mode.

Now I only need someone to tell me how to install two LOs next to each
other?

Let us say this is a very bad regression.

And let me add, that svg-s also come out crooked (cropped, incomplete) with
the 4.0.2.2 version. I am tempted to file another bug report for this one
as well? Or does it end up with the same people who are aware of this
misery already?

Thanks at least for the downgrade-workaround!

 I think Bug 62038 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62038 is
the closest since that reported against Linux, or Bug
 67464 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67464 (enhancement
request for EPS renderer). So you could mark this as a
duplicate to one of those bugs if you think so.

 Seems that summary still
 valid:https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47458#c20

After reading those bugs the related bugs, if I didn't misunderstand, some
 workarounds that you can try:
 - LO 4.x : install Imagemagick or Ghostscript make sure LO can find it
 - downgrade to LO 3.6.7.2

I've never saw reference that current AOO 4 could do that, but you can try
 that
 if you want :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69577] New: Improve appearance of shadows added to objects (text and images) in LO Impress

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69577

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69577
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Improve appearance of shadows added to objects (text
and images) in LO Impress
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: diaz.bast...@ymail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

The appearance of the shadows that are added to the objects in LO Impress is
somewhat outdated, as it simply repeats the object in a dark color.

Ideally, get a shadow with blur (like PowerPoint). Moreover, the shadow options
an image should be on par with options for text, in the sense that they can be
consistent (eg color).

This simple change can greatly help improve the appearance of presentations
made with LO Impress.

Thanks

Should I try the ones from LO directly? Shouldn't they be the same?

There could be some differences. I have installed the packages from OpenSUSE
and from LO. With packages from OpenSUSE I can connect to some databases, where
the connection with direct-LO-packages doesn't work. On the other hand we had
bugs about import of some graphics, which doesn't work in openSUSE and Ubuntu,
but does work in direct-LO-packages.

Could be the same database could be opened by packages directly from LO.

Some questions:
1. Is there any macro executed when starting the database?
2. Is it an internal database (HSQLDB)?

How is this bug a dup of Disable UI Corner Radius for custom shape

I am using 4.0.2.2

You are allowed to change the corner radius of rectangle objects. When do you,
the radius is not saved with the file.

This has nothing to do with Disable UI Corner Radius for custom shape
rectangle

Please fix this basic capability. It's needed.

I will try with the packages directly from LO and see what happens.

There are no macros opened when the database is open. The only add on is
Switchboard that allows me to create a menu structure for some common tasks.

The database is an embedded HSQLDB. I have considered and tried using MYSQL
but I haven't been able to figure it out. I took time off this summer but I
will get back to it later. I stopped because 4.0 seemed to have fixed some
problems I was having with corrupted data.

The database is around 900 kb. I would upload it if necessary. Let me try the
LO packages first. It may take me a day or 2 to get it loaded and tested.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I ran into this bug today and share the objection that Kentaro Fukuchi voices.

Either remove the option Always with current page and add a shift+F5 action
to the SlideShow menu. Or make the Always with current page option
functional.

I *think* I can confirm this.
Mine is not chemistry, but perfectly okay simple electric circuit diagrams. I
made maybe hundred, inserted into the presentation (LO 3.7.X.X) one year ago,
came out okay, and now with 4.0.2.2 they are garbled, parts missing, especially
with parts close to the borders being cropped. But also positions of elements
have changed.

I have inserted a screenshot of the edit preview in 4.0.2.2 ('faulty') of the
same identical presentation file and the edit preview in 3.6.7. ('correct').

Make that a bad regression, and to me this is not 'major', but a blocker. I
have a dozen presentations, with hundreds of image files - either svg or eps -
and both formats do not come out in any proper sense. They don't allow proper
export to PDF neither with 4.0.2.2.
This software should not have been released. Over.

There are no macros opened when the database is open. The only add on is
Switchboard that allows me to create a menu structure for some common tasks.

Switchboard starts automatically when you open the Base-file? So it could be
switchboard hangs - not the database itself.

The database is around 900 kb. I would upload it if necessary.

Don't upload such a database with your personal data. First try to open the
database without switchboard. If it hangs in the same way open a copy of the
database in 4.1.0.4 and remove all data. Then try again with 4.1.1.2. If this
has the same buggy behavior you could add this database without content here as
attachment.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69569] Implementation of YEARFRAC function inconsistent with Excel

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69569

--- Comment #2 from Christian Fries em...@christian-fries.de ---
Note: I have checked the modifications made by Lionel Elie Mamane at
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0f002a14ecdc445deb2bc8d4cc6fbe4b724ac7f6h=libreoffice-4-1
- just looking at the code, since I have no access to the daily build.

It appears as if this modification makes LibreOffice consistent with the
documentation BUT not consistent with Excel's implementation of YEARFRAC.

To make that precise. If you take the implementation at
http://svn.finmath.net/finmath%20lib/trunk/src/main/java/net/finmath/time/daycount/DayCountConvention_ACT_ACT_YEARFRAC.java

the difference is in the line
if(isStartLeapYear  isEndLeapYear)
here LibreOffice uses
if(isStartLeapYear  !isEndLeapYear)
instead.

F1, landing page link to shortcuts ..

I'd suggest showing them to the right of the style name in the style combo
box in a lighter color, similarly to how keyboard shortcuts are shown in
 menus.

thanks - Idea looks fine.

But do we have a metabug, or a overall project to create a plan before
(suggesting to) impelment(ing) separate ideas?

No.
Given that there's very little developer interest in working on UX bugs, I see
bitesized bugs as the only chance for getting anything solved.

Do you have any suggestions on ways to get UX bugs solved?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69584] New: FORMATTING: Fit print range(s) to width/height in under Format Page Sheet not functioning as described in Docs

2013-09-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69584

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69584
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Fit print range(s) to width/height in
under Format Page Sheet not functioning as
described in Docs
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: bsm...@largo.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.1.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

As is described in the online documentation here:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Sheet_2#Fit_print_range.28s.29_to_width.2Fheight

You should be able to leave one or both of the height/width options blank:

You may clear one of the boxes, then the unspecified dimension will use as
many pages as necessary. If you clear both boxes, this will result in a scaling
factor of 100%.

This is not the behavior in LibreOffice 4.1.1.2 or 4.2 alpha0.

When attempting to leave those fields blank it resets to '1'. The same happens
when you attempt to set them to '0'.

Has this been changed purposefully? In previous versions, leaving the
height/width field blank seemed to be the only method for allowing manual
manipulation of the page breaks in Page Break Preview. Now, to my knowledge,
there is no way to select the Fit print range(s) to width/height scale
option, set the width (so vertical page breaks remain constant), and then
manually drag the horizontal page breaks up/down in Page Break Preview.
