[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69664] Writer FileOpen Heading 1 Loses Outline Level for Doc Docx file types

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69664

--- Comment #3 from Harald Rudell har...@therudells.com ---
The impact of this is significant, assuming that LibreOffice works, what
matters is how long time various tasks consume:

LibreOffice Writer loses Web Layout on every load, it takes 2.5 s to put it
back.

To clear format on Title, add Outline level 1 to Heading 1 and the update the
Index takes 24 s.

So, each doc/docx user loses about 20 minutes daily

--- Comment #3 from brendel bren...@nancy.inra.fr ---
I don't think that it is simply a problem of LO remembering that I closed it :
I had three instances of impress open yesterday evening, all three with tasks
pane shown, closed properly, restarted LO this morning : not Tasks pane in
Impress.

I'm running LO under windows 7 Professionnel, french version Version 6.1
(numéro 7601:Service Pack 1)
I have LanguageTool installed, as well as the Mendeley Desktop plugin.

I renamed my user profile directory and re-run LO - when starting a new
presentation, the tasks pane did show ! Great.

However now I need to reinstall the plugins and verify all my preferences.

Is there perhaps not just one file to copy from the new user directory to the
old to correct this problem ?

Anyway, there is still the problem, that there is no menu point in the View
menu that concerns the tasks pane (as there is for the slides pane).

Thanks for your help

I just tried again, this time with LibreOffice 4.0.3.3 and the behavior is very
similar, except that the first invocation doesn't go in the background, after
the error, but rather sits there waiting for you to put the process on the
background or kill it.

If you put the process in the background the rest of the steps will keep
silently failing.

I think the expected behavior is still to make the error fatal so that the
process cleansup and exits, rather than sitting there forever. What do you
think ?

Until you get there anyone can do it by opening the MSI in Orca (-
 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa370557%28v=vs.
85%29.aspx or an alternative MSI editor) and deleting the Liberation font
entries from the Font table. Save and install, no more bluescreens (and I
tested every 4.x release on my machine over the last months and never even
got the installer so complete sucessfully).

I followd your instruction and tried exactly these steps with 4.1.1.2 and
installed the modified msi on 6 machines. 5 were fine and one got a bluescreen
again (bad pool header). So this workaround doesn't fixed the problem here.

If really the fonts are the part that causes the bluescreen, can't they be
easily made optional in the installer?

Problem description:
If you open Excel (xls) books including scenarios, you get extra sheets whose
names are shown in blue. Each of those sheets contain values for a scenario.
If you print the document or export it as a PDF, those sheets are also printed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Get an Excel book including scenarios and open it with Calc.
http://www.openoffice.org/sc/testdocs/index.html
http://www.openoffice.org/sc/testdocs/scenarios_import_biff8_12.xls
2. See extra sheets appear.
3. If you print the whole book, those extra sheets are also printed.

Current behavior:
See above.

Expected behavior:
Ideally those Excel scenarios are imported as Calc's scenarios.
Or at least they should not be treated as a visible part of the worksheet.

Additional info:
- It might be a valid feature, but I could not found any reference to it on the
User Guide or Wiki.
- Apache OO 3.4.1 / 4.0.0 also exhibit the same problem.
- I found the following OOo-era bug report which says the import function had
been implemented in OOo 3 circa 2009.
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=99426
- I also found an ancient bug report c.2007 in downstream Ubuntu bug database,
which claims the exact same issue. They just ignored it then.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56696] Recent Documents list show items for just the currently active LibreOffice module

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56696

--- Comment #16 from Mick Florey mick.flo...@ntlworld.com ---
I strongly disagree, to the point that me (and especially my wife! She gets
VERY annoyed!) would stop using LibreOffice. (and revert back to Office 97!)
The reason: because we generally use ONE program at a time. Generally
Spreadsheet OR Word, rarely both! Very annoying to open Excel/ Calc and click
open and find no excel documents in the list (only Writer/ doc files)!! :(
THIS IS VERY bad, for me!

So a fix for this would be to have several types of (optional) recent docs
displayed in a pull down menu.
E.g. Recent Calc; Recent Writer (.doc), etc.

Maybe these (if required) could be enabled/ disabled under the preference/
options setting.

I honestly have been looking for this since open office days and I am still
waiting please

Hi Cor,

Thanks for looking into this.

I'm working on Windows 8.

I managed to reduce the document in size - the variable's that are defined in
the header (none of them actually) that are used in the top alinea (for
example VAR123) are showing 0.

When putting a Enter, splitting up the alinea, the variables in the second part
ar showing correctly the correct value.

When using a variable that is defined inside that first alinea (see example
VAR789), this problem does not occur.

So it seems to be related to inserting the definition of a (new) variable in
side the page header ...

I attached the new example document :
 BUG-VariablesInTopAlineaNOK.odt

And two screenshots :
 VariablesInTopAlineaNOK.png
 VariablesInSecondAlineaOK.png

Thanks for your efforts on this issue.

Kind regards,
Chris

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69752] New: FORMATTING: thousand seperator does not work properly with space as a seperator

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69752

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69752
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: thousand seperator does not work properly
with space as a seperator
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: bugquestcon...@online.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.5.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
Formatting numbers larger or equal 1 000 000 does not work properly.

I additionally tested in 3.6.5 portable and 4.1.0 portable and got the same
results.

Using the default separator Komma, shows correct separation.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Calc
2. type a number laerger or equal 1 000 000
3. right click on cell and select Format Cells
4 . select Numbers
5. select General
6. select Use Thousands Seperator
7. replace Komma with space (the most international thousands seperator)
8. result: 1000 000 (all spaces after the first thousand group are missing)

Current behavior:
For numbers larger or equal to 1 000 000 the thousands separator space does
separate only the first group of digits leading to results like
1000 000
1 000
10 000

Expected behavior:
Replacing of the thousand separator Komma with Space should work for all digits
like the separator Komma

Because the Space as a thousands separator is the most internationally
understood separator I also propose to add this to Calc.

Hello QA Admin. I could close this issue because we now have a workaround,
thanks to user jw.he...@gmail.com. However, this is a workaround, not a fix.
This bug most likely still exists and should be fixed by the creators of
libreoffice.

How should we proceed? Should we close this issue and let the bug stay in
libreoffice until the heat death of the universe or should we somehow make them
notice this bug report?

If you, QA Admin, think we should close this issue then you can go ahead and do
so when you see this response.

(In reply to comment #1 [1])
basically you'd like that the Open file menu dialog can be filtered to a
specific user defined file format (*.doc) while actually the default
visualization mode is all files (*.*), right?

  Yes, this is correct.
Actually, this could be closed as I have found this:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56696 [2]

and appears along similar lines, in fact I have placed a comment there and
  hopefully get some positive response.
  Thanks very much!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69754] New: FILEOPEN: CRASH when FILEOPEN certain docx files (MS Word 2007/2010 XML Format)

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69754

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69754
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: CRASH when FILEOPEN certain docx files (MS
Word 2007/2010 XML Format)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: jdiet...@fastmail.fm
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: Inherited From OOo
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 86445
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86445action=edit
contains two documents that cause LibreOffice to crash upon opening them

Problem description:
LibreOffice on Mac OS X crashes upon opening the attached document.
(I also have LibreOffice on a Linux machine, and this problem does not occur
there.)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached documents in a Mac OS X version of LibreOffice.

Current behavior:
The program crashes on startup.

Expected behavior:
The program opens the file for viewing/editing/etc.

I have tried LibreOffice 4.0.5.2 on Mac OS X 10.8.4 and also LibreOffice 3.3.1
on Mac OS X 10.6.8. Both crash in the same way.

This problem has existed for some time. A couple years (?) ago I remember
having this same problem, and I even tried installing a version of OpenOffice,
but the problem was still the same.

I chose two files that caused a crash, and used LibreOffice on a Linux machine
to trim them down to fairly minimal documents that still cause a crash. They
are attached in crash.zip.

Please let me know if more information would be useful or if there is anything
else I can do to help this get solved.
Operating System: Mac OS X

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69724] Ability to Set Default Number/Bullet Styles

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69724

--- Comment #2 from Joel Madero jmadero@gmail.com ---
Hey Cor,

How would this work in terms of really quick access via the bullet and number
button? I think that's the main issue that the fastest way to access bullets,
outlinining and numbering is through the button(s) on the toolbar but this is
always the default, so additional steps requiring you to go through styles is
just more work if you know you always like the same outline style and want to
access this by just clicking a button.

ATB,
Joel

Unfortunately, 3.5 is EOL of TDF (LibreOffice foundation) so this bug is
INVALID against on this bug tracker. That being said I'm going to mark as
NEEDINFO, if you attach the document and someone (me or someone else) can
confirm on a currently supported release (4.0, 4.1 or 4.2 master) we can set as
NEW, otherwise we'll have to close as WORKSFORME as it's been fixed and we
won't be backporting any fixes to 3.5.

Once you attach the document set as UNCONFIRMED and one of us will test on
4.0+.

Thanks for your understanding

This bug is very hard to follow because it doesn't have exact reproducible
steps. I am marking as NEEDINFO - if specific steps (detailed, telling us
exactly what to do and where the problem is) we can try to reproduce. Please
remember that we are a very small team handling thousands of bug reports, the
more clear you are in reporting, the less time we have to spend guessing at how
to accomplish what you're seeing.

Thanks for your understanding, once you provide exact steps mark as UNCONFIRMED

Although your steps are slightly different I believe it's the same root cause
of bug 64722 therefore marking as duplicate. I know that this is a copy/paste
problem but I think ultimately it's coming down to not reading the value which
is stored, so upon opening a saved document or copy/paste you're seeing the
loss of name.

We could really use a simple test case here. Also in your bug reports please
always include detailed steps. Please keep in mind that we are a very small
team handling thousands of bug reports so the more straight forward a bug
report is to reproduce, the easier it is for us to go through the thousands
that are reported.

Marking as NEEDINFO - once you attach a test case with steps on exactly how to
see the problem on a fresh document as well as on your test case, mark as
UNCONFIRMED.

Apologies for the long delay, again we are a small team of volunteers trying to

--- Comment #3 from Stanislav Horacek stanislav.hora...@gmail.com ---
OK, I confirm this as a bug: GCD_ADD function does not convert input values to
integers and returns rationals. E.g.:
GCD_ADD(2.1;4.2) returns 2.1, should return 2
GCD(2.1;4.2) returns 2 correctly

This is probably inherited from OO - see also
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=71158 where the same behaviour
(returning rationals) was corrected for GCD function.

@Thorsten - thought this one might peak your interest ;) Seems quite nasty, I
know the undo code is a mess but, a challenge perhaps?

Thank you for reporting this issue! I have been able to confirm the issue on:
Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 4547d8c42e5b0bb456ac02fbea67059a8a1cadd7
 Date: Tue Sep 24 01:49:59 2013 +0300
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
As I've been able to confirm this problem I am marking as:

New (confirmed)
Major - undo function completely breaking document, loss of formatting,
unfixable without a lot of manual work
High - default for major bugs, seems appropriate

Version: Updated to 3.5.0.beta0 - I bibisected and it's been around forever,
probably even exists in OOo before the split but I can't confirm this 100%. Our
version field is the oldest version we can confirm the problem, not the latest
we've tested (we use comments for that)

Note: For me it seems like the time format is changing as well. Furthermore the
document itself upon opening does indeed have some overlap to begin with (near
the bottom where it reads NOON). But it gets substantially worse after the
steps here.

We need:

Your operating system and what version of libreoffice you're using.

Exact steps on how to reproduce

Exact issue that you are seeing

A much clearer title would be nice - the title should tell us what the problem
is not just say a shape - if possible. We understand if there are language

Jean-Baptiste Faure :
Hi~
I checked the settings Tools Options LibreOffice Writer Compatibility,
it's the same in LO 4.0.3 and 4.1.1.

I guess the problem is that the same table will show different height in LO
4.0 and LO 4.1 (Linux only, it's OK on Windows so far). So I deleted all the
star, and add some rows of table, and change all the font to Liberation Sans.
I rename this new testing odt file as offset6.odt, please download it here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86448

My testing result was:
The table in LO-4.0.3 goes to second page:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86450
The table in LO-4.1.1 has only one page:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86451

Very interesting, so you're seeing:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Impress/Adding_a_Header_or_a_Footer_to_All_Slides

Which is clearly Impress related. The reason for this (it is a bug by the way)
is that Impress and Draw are actually very similar, using a lot of the same
code. Likely that someone used cross compatible code that carried the help
over.

This being said, we have a team of a couple hundred volunteers (mostly), so yes
we do have a check in process but when there are hundreds of thousands of
things you can do with the product, it's impossible that we check it all. We
rely on users (and incredibly helpful volunteers) to do quality checks.

If you're interested in helping QA, please feel free to contact me, we could
surely use the help to do as much quality checking before release as possible.

I am bumping this up to normal-high as we want our help files functional for
users. I'm also adding to MAB since we've done this in the past.

Please provide a test case and steps on what to do exactly. QA is very familiar
with the product but we don't know everything, especially with Draw.

For instance please explain:
I modified the alignment on the right (contextual menu).
Last, I modified the alignment on the bottom of the page...

Tell us exactly how to do these things and we'll test against 4.1 and probably
4.2 master.

Marking as NEEDINFO, please provide the test case that we can cut/paste from
and to a master view document and provide clear steps for those two requested
above and then mark as UNCONFIRMED.

Thank you for taking the time to help us, please remember we are a very small
team so the clearer the instructions the easier it is for us to reproduce and
triage the bug.

Added bug 68103 - seems like we have another help issue - draw is linking to
impress help that isn't useful for draw making it pretty confusing for users
trying to accomplish headers/footers on master documents in draw

please always include your system specs (OS, and version of LibreOffice @
minimum)

Marking as NEEDINFO, once you provide the attachment and steps mark as
UNCONFIRMED and we'll try to confirm the bug.

Scrolling is smooth as silk for me. Running

4.1.1.2 on Bodhi Linux x64.

I suspect it's a problem with graphics driver and not with LibreOffice but I'll
try to find confirmation of this.

I no longer have this problem after installing Linux Mint 15 (64 bit).

I never heard any solution for the original problem. It may not have been a
LibreOffice problem, but rather an Ubuntu/Mint issue. I don't know.

I am not the original submitter. I and others did provide information months
ago. Perhaps the issue is moot now. I leave to others the final decision.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69709] FORMATTING : pasting format with paintbrush icon deletes the value of the target cell

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69709

--- Comment #4 from Jouni Kosonen bug...@tukesoft.com ---
(In reply to comment #3)
I just found another fuzzy behaviour of paste - special:

try to copy and paste values only (char, numbers, dates) to a cell with some
formatting attributes -- those attributes will be deleted.

Does the Format Paintbrush share code path with Paste Special? If so, then
maybe this is the same as #69450.

Basically, pasting only a subset of attributes no longer preserves the
unselected attributes in the target but apparently resets them to the defaults.

Hi Karsten -

Please read entire comments when QA puts them there, else we get hiccups in
process

Mark bug as UNCONFIRMED once you have answered these questions, else QA will
not look at the bug again. Thanks for your help

I just was browsing through emails and luckily stumbled across this one that
you have provided more info for us.

I just tested again with 4.1.1.2 and indeed, I see a problem but it has been
fixed in 4.2 master.

Marking as NEW, we'll see if we can find the patch that fixed it and backport
it to 4.1.

New
Critical - crash/stops responding
High - default, seems appropriate

Please note that we are not always successful finding the patch that fixed a
bug and then backporting it, if this is the case here, you will see the fix
with release of 4.2

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69755] New: Color Sliders not Affecting Imported SVG Image

2013-09-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69755

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 69755
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Color Sliders not Affecting Imported SVG Image
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: graueemin...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 86454
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=86454action=edit
The SVG in question

My distro: Kubuntu 13.04 64-bit with KDE 4.10.5

Steps to reproduce

0. Start Libre Writer
1. Load the attached SVG file (might work with any SVG)
2. Change any image slider (Contrast, transparancy, brightness or color
balances)
3. No change to the image

Behaviour in Impress and Calc:

Any change to the image causes it to be rasterized (poorly in both raster and
vector resolution), then filters are applied.

While the behaviour in Impress and Calc would be a feature request of sorts (do
a better job rasterizing or keep the vector nature), the behaviour in Writer is
a bug in my oppinion, since there is no information to the User, as to what is
causing Writer's refusal to change the image in the indicated way.
