changed summary notes with a better description.

I suggest to upgrade to 4.2.2 which is going to be released very soon (maybe
today) and retest that.

the 4.2.0 version was a very early release and more than 100 bugs have been
fixed in 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.

tell us if the bug is still there after upgrade

--- Comment #5 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
Just looked around a bit more, and was a bit surprised to see the 'Release
Notes' ( http://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/ ) are very out of
date--showing details that were current for the 4.2.0 (Jan 27, 2014) and 4.1.4
(Dec 16, 2013) releases.

Design of the page looks great, but the content NEEDS to be brought (and kept)
current to match the releases being delivered, i.e. currently 4.1.5 (Feb 10,
2014), 4.2.1 (Feb 17, 2014) and the pending release of 4.2.2 (build complete as
of Feb 27, 2014).

Not a Wiki so I can't post the changes myself, but happy to help with the
editing if someone sends along the publishing procedure and contact(s).

Created attachment 95578

A test document.

We experienced the following issue on Windows Server 2003 x64 with printers
connected from a W2k8 printserver. Also reproduced on WinXP.

*Independent* of the default printer, the print preview (see attachment) shows
partially large spaces between the last letter in a line and the hyphenation
dash. If the document is printed, the dashes on the paper are placed *directly*
following the last letter (this is what i would the printout expect to be). You
might now think this is only a display error.

But if the default printer on LO launch is a HP DeskJet 920c and in the print
dialog File - Print *ANOTHER* printer is selected, then the printout shows
the same irregular large spaces between last letter and dash as the preview
shows.

If the HP DeskJet 920c is also uses for printing then the dashes are placed
correctly. So the problem only occurs if the HP DeskJet 920c is default
printer on LO launch and then another printer is used for printing.

My guess is, that after selecting another printer some kind of re-rendering the
dashes is missing.

confirmed on LO4.2.1.1 Fedora 20. I just modified one of my docs. Originally
this formula exists in sheet 3:

remove sheet 4 and this becomes:

restore sheet 4 with CTRL-Z and the formula remains unchanged.

@Tim : I've not noticed this on my own built versions from master connecting to
a local mysql instance. My builds are also on Ubuntu-derived OS (Linux Mint 15

There was a problem with the native connector and MariaDB (libmariadb library)
at one point, perhaps this is reflected in the PPA provided packages ?

A Libre Office document which, when saved as HTML, produces interlaced strike

Problem description:

I am saving *.docx files as html using Libre Office 4.2.1.1. Much to my
surprise, I noticed that I'm getting horrifically invalid html, with interlaced
tags. As an experiment, I copypasted some of the offending text into a Libre

current behavior.

Notice that the strike and span tags are interlaced, something which should
never happen and which makes the file impossible to parse, say using xslt.

Steps to reproduce:
1. See attached Libre Office document
2. Save as HTML
3. Check the resulting HTML document using a text editor

I will test this using the linux version of Libre Office Writer

Current behavior:

p class=western style=margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: 110%bAdvisor/
bnbsp;shall
mean a person designated to support, assist, consult withspan style=display:
inline-block; border: none; padding:
0instrikenbsp;/strikestrikeand/span/strike,

Expected behavior:

There are various ways this might be formatted with HTML; it doesn't matter as
long as the tags aren't interlaced.

If you define your own colors via Tools - Options - Colors they are added
to the default palette standard.soc.

In the past (StarOffice) it was possible to define your own paths where color
palette files (*.soc) are to be searched for. (See
http://www.ooowiki.de/attachments/PalettenErstellen/pfaddialog.png). Now in LO
I'm not aware of any possibility to maintain *seperate* color palettes.

So, first it would be nice to have such a feature again.

Second, by adding a color via Tools - Options - Colors the user should be
asked, in which of the available *.soc files the new color should be stored in.

   ||TabsRelativeToIndent
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

--- Comment #1 from Mike Kaganski mikekagan...@hotmail.com ---
In your file, the settings.xml contains setting named TabsRelativeToIndent,
which is set to false. If set to true, everything works OK.
Note that it works OK with your settings, too, but not in the way you expect
it. This setting tells that you see all tab positions relative to left page
margin, not to the cell that you work in. And the program does just this, thus
working correctly with regards to developer's intent.

The problem is how would you change this document setting without manual
modifications of the document internals...

I suppose that this bug at most can be qualified as an enhancement request to
add a UI to allow this setting be modified. And possibly, others too.
However, I keep the medium priority, because it is not a low-priority
problem: without such a control, this would be a problem for people having
different documents behaving differently, without a way to make them work
consistently.

Problem description: I recently upgraded from Fedora 18 to Fedora 20. A docx
file (created by Word) with a number of tables that used to display just fine
in LibreOffice now displays with the tables completely empty.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice.
2. Open document.
3.

Current behavior: Data in tables does not display.

Expected behavior: Data in tables should display.

on Linux, cannot reproduce any borders being drawn in any version i tried.

only difference i can see:

in 3.6.6 the below paragraph spacing on the list items is 0.3 cm,
but in 3.6.5 and older it is 0cm.

actually in OOo 3.3 and LO 3.4.6 it is also 0.3cm...
presumably change in 3.6.6 a bugfix?

ah indeed it is:

one is ok, big one after save

Well i'm sending you the original file (smaller) and the file after save
(larger), what happens is beyond me, however it would seem that for some odd
reason data in cells gets shifted, you will best notice this with comment
placement. equations get messed up bad too. This thing happens in a 4.2
release, it doesn't however in 4.1 release. Ok one more thing, if i save in
.ods format all is well, if i try any other format it good fucking bye
sense and order =)

Example dialog as presented when printing to PDF.

Problem description:
I'm sorry if this is a duplicate or even not a real bug or worse, already
fixed.

If I have a document, *ANY* document in writer (all I've tried so far) and ask
to print it I'm given a dialog which gives me the option of updating four
fields, Title, Author (the important one) and Subject Keywords. (Also
security options.)

However, if I use the Export as PDF option, those fields are not presented
for update. This *normally* isn't a problem however, for this document I'm
trying to put someone else's name as author (since they wrote it and I
formatted it) and I can't.

It very well may be pilot error and I apologize if it is.

I've also checked the 'Properties' menu option and there's no place to set the
author's name for the document!

A side effect that I've run into is also that the Print to PDF option does
not create the table of contents/index in the PDF whereas Export to PDF does.

Expected behavior:
Before printing or Exporting, I'd expect to be able to set any/all variable
fields from the 'Properties' menu option or in another dialog. When printing or
exporting, I'd expect the options presented to be very close to the same.

All you need is to build LibreOffice yourself, do the change, and create the

present, while the current report is about 4.2.x

so we asked Urmas to specify which version he's talking about...
maybe he erroneously indicated 4.2.x

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76036] New: Impree will not play sound

2014-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76036

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 76036
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Impree will not play sound
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: j_taylo...@btinternet.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.1.1 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

I have several Impress and PPS files which use WAV sound.
This format is no longer supported in Libre 4.2.1.1, or is not called.
Is this intentional, or is some other factor involved?
I am using an iMac System 10.9.1 I cannot comment on any other sound system, or
any other operating system.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76021] FORMATTING: Libre Office Writer: save As HTML results in interlaced strike and span tags

2014-03-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76021

--- Comment #2 from Patrick Goetz pgo...@mail.utexas.edu ---
HTML is not XML and therefore doesn't require nested tags or XML document
 structure.

While this might very well have been true in 1998, all modern versions of HTML
are also valid XML with DTD's and Doctypes. In any case, users expect to get
valid output, and often the reason someone is doing Save as HTML in the first
place is the document is going to be parsed. It makes no sense to start out
with a document that must be valid xml and end up with invalid HTML

This is quite embarrassing. I've been recommending that people upgrade to
Libre Office from MS Office, but in this case at least Microsoft is putting out
valid HTML. I don't understand what happened, I don't recall seeing this with
previous versions of Open Office.

I checked Google Docs as well, converting the same document to HTML and
checking to see if the tag structure is xml-valid. While the HTML output from
Google Docs can best be described as bizarre (every possible text formatting is
set up as a class and applied using span class=), the file is nevertheless
valid xml.

I wonder if it is an issue with some extension or an issue with LibO itself

Hi,

(In reply to comment #0)
 I see this output:

:1: parser error : Document is empty

 ^

Note: The error would be more useful if it said *which* document is missing
 :-)
This output isn't related to your problem. You can avoid this output if you'll
use the correct extension for that file - which is xlsx.

It's a duplicate of Bug 30583, as indicated by the reporter.

(In reply to comment #1)
 If I mark the hyperlink,
which is enough complicated, and go rightclicking on open hyperlink the
slide jumps to the target slide, but no way to edit.
There is a menu item for it: Edit-Hyperlink..., but it's currently broken -
see Bug 75968. You can use 4.1 instead, or wait for 4.2.3 which will include a
fix.
