[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78761] SLIDESHOW: Slideshow is slow. Also with glitches

--- Comment #2 from Yan Pashkovsky yanp...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #1)
Does this happen for every presentation? Is this new to 4.2.4.2 or was it an
 issue prior to this release?

This issue is since i was using libreoffice, from 4.1, but I'm sure it was in
ealier versions. White stripes are buzzing only with 3d transition Rosetta,
maybe some other 3d effects. And interlacing effect (vsync problem) happens
with every horizontal transition

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33467] Mac: Default printer should be taken from the OS when printing

2014-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33467

--- Comment #6 from Hussian Alamri husain.a...@gmail.com ---
I want to volunteer and fix this.

Should I use OS X (Cocoa) APIs to find out the default printer? I think
LibreOffice aims for cross-platform portability so unlike NeoOffice it doesn't
include OS X specific code.

I will attempt fixing it using CUPS, maybe it can be fixed and maybe it is a
CUPS limitation. If I can use OS X specific API/syscalls let me know.

One last question, where can I find the code related to printing?

Thank you.

Nah, feel free to use OS X -specific code if it helps, obviously putting it
inside an appropriare ifdef.

After all, the U in CUPS stands for Unix, and our most important platform
is Windows (number of users, and especially paying customers;). So it isn't as
if using CUPS would be cross-platform either.

I would start looking in vcl. I think printing related functionality already
*is* in platform-specific code in vcl.

Okay. I'm on it. I'm reading Apple Developer guide regarding printing right
now.

git grep NSPrint revealed a number of files that I need to look into.

Is there a top-level view of the source code that can help me see how the
source files are connected to one another?

I will reply back with progress updates.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61192] In PDF printing mode greyscale printing not possible

--- Comment #7 from Jesus Caudeli jcaud...@lasallegrinon.es ---
(In reply to comment #4)
I totally agree that it is minor issue and low priority, especially since we
had to revert to PS printing (due to the MUCH more serious bug 61189 ) and
it works OK in PS. Seems odd to classify it as a feature request, but
 whatever ya gotta do!

As far as specifying with the printer- yes, on most PPD files for color
printers, there is an option for choosing color or non-color. I believe the
one we use has such an option. So that is another workaround.

Did you revert the whole CUPS behaviour to print using PS instead of PDF? How
did you do it? I really need to know it.

I have the same issue, and I think it's not a problem of LO but of CUPS. I
can't print in grayscale from ANY application. At least in LO I can make the
workaround choosing PS, but what can I do with the other software?

I think reverting to PS printing would fix this, but I can't find how to do it,
and I'm also worried of creating new problems caused by the regression.

Thanks in advance

  Jesús

I have a big problem with this. I see that libwpd is detecting it as a WP 4.2
file and I understand why. Now, if you change the extension of this file to
*.sylk, it will load well. This can be a workaround for this kind of rare
cases.

The problem lies in the fact that WP 4.2 file-format is a text file without
header with WordPerfect codes embedded. We use a dry-parsing heuristics to
detect this kind of files. We try to check whether the codes in the file
follow the logic that codes in a WP file would follow. The problem is that
this file contains an even number of é characters encoded as 0xE9. OxE9 in a
WP42 file is a variable length function and we normally scan for a closing 0xE9
if we find an openning one. Them being in even numbers make us believe that it
is a WP42 file with two 0xE9 codes. The problem is that I cannot make much with
this kind of logic. Without this heuristics I am unable to detect any WP42 file
at all. It is true that some special cases of text files can pass through this
filter, but the workaround is to rename the extension of the file.

Thank you for your explainations. It is a logical way to rename the extension

This behavior is different from previous version of LibreOffice, OpenOffice or

I am very impressed with your responsiveness.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78745] Frame (object) loses background bitmap

Created attachment 99152

Correct ODT file created by LibO-4.2.4

A. The history of the file 'blank_edit_406.odt' (attachment 99093):
The file 'blank_edit.doc' (attachment 99125) has been opened by
LibreOffice-4.0.6 and then was saved as the ODT format.

B. It is possible that this error is correlated with other bugs (bug 78755, bug
78756). So I tried to create the ODT file (see attachment), which all Writers
will open correctly, as WinWord-2007.
 I used WinWord-2007, Writer-4.2.4, text document 'blank_edit.doc' (attachment
99125) and files (image1.jpeg and image2.wmf) that were extracted from the
container ‘blank_edit.docx/word/media/..’ (attachment 99108).
1. The file 'blank_edit.doc' (attachment 99125) was opened by WinWord 2007 and
saved as RTF format.
2. The RTF file has been opened by Writer-4.2.4, edited and saved as ODT format
(blank_edit-424rtf.odt, see attachment).
3. Edit the RTF file:
a. Options sets of the Table 1:
Table Format Table: Alignment=Manual; Spacing – Left=8.19cm, Right=0.
b. The Frame moved to the upper-left corner of the page.
c. The Graphic object of the Frame was deleted.
d. New file (image2.wmf) was inserted instead of the remote graphic object. The
Anchor of the new image was installed To Paragraph.
e. The frame’s option ‘Background’ was set as the graphics. The file
‘image1.jpeg’ was selected as the background image:
Format Frame/Object… Background: As=Graphic, File [Brose]=image1.jpeg
f. The frame’s height was slightly expanded so that last paragraph of the frame
became visible.
g. Font Size is set to 2 pt for the paragraph that lies between 1st and 2nd
Tables.

I hope that the description (content.xml) of the attached file will help solve
the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 77902] Device I/O error when appending to log file from Linux to Samba share

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77902

Jeff H jeff_he...@sil.org changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||jeff_he...@sil.org

--- Comment #1 from Jeff H jeff_he...@sil.org ---
I have found a work-around to this bug, but it is messy and probably very
dependent on the version of Linux being used. The work-around is described
here:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/32488/calc-basic-cant-append-to-network-text-file-from-linux/

I would appreciate it if someone could confirm this bug, so that maybe we could
move towards a solution.

To recap, I access our server from Calc BASIC with a path like this:
file://cdb.sil.org/server/folder/file. I run this path through ConvertToURL
before using it; on Windows machines the file: prefix stays the same, on
Linux machines it changes to smb:. In this way, all of our API file accesses
to our server (StoreAsURL, StoreToURL, LoadComponentFromURL, etc.) work on both
systems. But if I use the basic Open For Append or Open For Output BASIC
commands with these same paths, Linux access to the smb://cdb... paths will
fail with a Device I/O error. I can use Open For Input with the smb://cdb...
paths successfully, but not Append or Output.

My work-around starts with the fact that any Linux smb:// access on a mounted
share actually has a normal file access somewhere in the system, if you can
find it. On our Linux Mint 16 systems, the Samba file access to our server gets
converted at some level to this normal Linux path:

/run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=cdb.sil.org,share=server/

So my work-around code manually builds up this server path, and whenever I want
to use smb:// (which LibreOffice refuses to convert for the Open Append or
Output commands), I manually put in this long, messy path for direct access to
the file.

Could this be a duplicate of 77243 that I filed a few weeks ago? I ended up
going back to the 4.1.x series. Collating/Duplexing has shown odd and
inconsistent behavior in recent LO versions. I even get different results with
different printer drivers sometimes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 59818] VIEWING: Bad Font Rendering in KDE

2014-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59818

--- Comment #24 from Nicolas Mailhot nicolas.mail...@laposte.net ---
IIRC that's because GTK/GNOME people decided to override the cross-platform
font stack configuration mecanisms and export settings with their own methods.

The GTK layer in libreoffice then reads this configuration and applies it.

You happen to like the GTK font choices. If you run an ubuntu or gnome session
it will export them. If you use another DE it will read the normal standard
configuration files.

There is no consensus on what is proper font configuration, different people
have different preferences, which is why GNOME people decided in their usual
way to force their vision on their users and ignore everyone else.

Since you like those choices, you need to dig in GNOME/ubuntu to find where
they are carefully hidden away from user control and set the same values in
your fonts.conf where non-gnome-descended DEs will read them

When choosing the print option, especially with a spreadsheet, you usually end
up using more paper than you should to print since some column or row spills
over to another page.

Excel has a adjust the scaling to a certain size or fit to option to make the
scale of the selected print area or cells, fit into one sheet of paper by

 replaced valueid/value by valueid-ID/value in 'dictionaries.xcu' file
repacked the extension, installed it and restarted LO ( even restarted the

Did anyone tried the patch with some succes ?
 Thanks

My bad, it works. valueid/value need to replaced twice by
valueid-ID/value in the 'dictionaries.xcu' file, once line 13 and again

Indeed it is - marking it as a duplicate.

Can both of you test on 4.2.4.2 release (also it would be nice if you could
test on a master build from this week if possible). Please let us know what

Lastly - version is the OLDEST version that we see the problem, not the latest.
So please don't update the version to a newer version just because you still
see the problem. Thanks!

the version number as version is the earliest version that we can confirm the
bug, we use comments to say that the bug exists in newer versions as well.

Marking as:

New (confirmed)
Major - total crash, major is appropriate
Highest - tossing this on to the MAB list, I know it's been around for years
but simple steps resulting in a total crash seems like it belongs there.

Added bug 78784 -

Editing a simple draw object within writer and going to format-layer results
in total crash. The bug has been around since the branch point (confirmed on
3.3.0.4) but none the less, nasty enough that I thought it belonged on the
list.

Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78784] EDITING: Choosing Format-Layer when editing Drawing object causes crash

2014-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78784

Should add I found a work-around. The Draw object in file I attached is copied
from older Writer document. Creating a new Draw object within Writer will not
cause crash when calling Format-Layer.

Work-around is:
1. Edit problematic Draw object
2. Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C (copy all draw items)
3. Close Draw object
4. Insert-Object-OLE Object-Create New-Libre 4.2 Drawing
5. Ctrl-V (paste draw items)
6. Esc (close Draw object)

Test:
1. Double-click new Draw object to edit
2. Select Format-Layer, which will now work

Conclusion: Something inside the Draw object itself, or how or with which
product it was created, is causing the crash. The Draw items can be reused in
new Draw object without crashing.

Again just not enough information for developers to do anything with this. For
this one I'm going to just close as INVALID because a random crash is
unlikely to get reproducible steps. Also, again we highly recommend you upgrade
to 4.2.4.2 as there have been a ton of fixes in that time span.

Hi Walter -

We need more information then what you have provided. Is this happening every
time you insert a sheet? Only on a particular document? What operating system?
What version of LibreOffice? Is this a regression?

If this happens with a single document - we'll need the document as a test
case.

Marking as NEEDINFO - once you provide the required information please mark the
bug as UNCONFIRMED. Thanks!

I created a new account and tried the problem with a clean ODS file. It did
not crash. I tried it with my original ODS file and it crashed.

I tried to modify the clean ODS file by adding various features which were
present in the original document but was unable to replicate the crash.

I tried removing things from the original ODS file to see what was the minimum
amount of data required to trigger the crash, and ended up with a completely
empty file (aside from a non-default sheet name), which I've uploaded.

So I assume there is something strange about this ODS file, which can be edited
normally in Calc.

Also very likely that this is not a regression in 4.2.3 - probably from 4.2.0.
If you can confirm this please update the version to the oldest version that
you see the problem. Thanks!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78789] New: Other: can not edit date field in form with windows date format chinese (simplified, VR china)

2014-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78789

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 78789
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Other: can not edit date field in form with windows
date format chinese (simplified, VR china)
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: juergen.wur...@gmx.at
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.5.3 release
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 99165

a simple database to test my problem

Problem description:
I use Win 7 and Libreoffice 4.1.5.3 (in 4.2.x.x it is the same error). I build
a form with a date field and it works. But if i change in Windows 7 the format
of the date to chinese (simplified, VR China) and open it again i can not enter
the correct date in my field.
Here is a link for german developers
http://www.libreoffice-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=10t=13127

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start the Database open the form user and add some data. All should work.
2. close Libreoffice
3. Go to your windows system configuration. Choose the region(/area) and
language. then choose tab format. Now you change the format language to
chinese (simplified, VR China) (in the german Win 7 Version it is the last
one of chinese languages). Only the format of the date will be changed and not
the language of the system!!
4. Now Start the Database again and try to add users or change the date of
existing users. It does not work! It shows the wrong date.

Current behavior:

not able to edit date

Expected behavior:

edit date with the standard date fieldtype

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.5.3 release

--- Comment #6 from Kohei Yoshida libreoff...@kohei.us ---
(In reply to comment #5)
Can't you do columns? Or don't use the scroll bars for moving onto the next
record, since there is already buttons for that on the UI?

No. Because that would be a re-design of the UI which is beyond the scope of
this bug fixing.

If you want a redesign, join the design team and try to find an interested
developer to take on the task.

 Problem description:
When i click on search all doesn't appear any window

No window is expected to appear. As you can see in your screenshot, all cells
matching your search term are highlighted/selected (see W2350 at your
screenshot, which contains the search term you were searching for). This is the
same behavior as in writer.

Kind regards,
Joren

Or, our alternative would be to turn this bug report into an enhancement

--- Comment #9 from Bernard du Toit bernarddt+b...@gmail.com ---
Since the dialog is not producing errors or causing errors, but just don't work
for any columns beyond a certain count, I think it would be worth more to ask
for a redesign.

I'm working with Oracle SQL Developer, and they also have this features and
theirs work well (buttons for next/pre record and scrolling for columns/fields)
so there is a very simple way of making this work.

I think the original design of this dialog was not giving enough thought
because one doesn't use it that much, but a redesign would be worth it for the
quality of the project.

Because it is a stand-alone dialog that a junior/new developer can work on
without messing with important code, it may be a nice assignment for new comer
contributing developers.

I'm not sure what Hendrik Koch think since he also reported this.

Unless you are indicating something else, yes it is weird that you use the

thing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78793] New: Make hiding the gallery easier ...

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

Status: NEW
   Version: 4.2.4.1 rc
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

I stumbled upon my wife's PC with the gallery open, she had no idea how to
close it (or how it got opened in the first place) ...

It would be great to have a 'close' button present there [ if you know you can
un-dock it and close it to get this effect but ... ] - there is a load of
grey-space on the right to put that in.

git grep -5 SVXDLG_GALLERYBROWSER

For bonus points, converting the old-style code to a new-style .ui dialog would
be rather useful too cf.

http://caolanm.blogspot.ie/2013/01/converting-libreoffice-dialogs-to.html

Thanks.
