[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78341] Cannot install document templates to architecture-independent location

--- Comment #5 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com ---
(In reply to comment #4)
 Hi David,

 (In reply to comment #3)

you are missing the point here. The problem is that
libreoffice/share/extensions _itself_ is in an architecture-dependent
location in distribution builds. E.g., on Fedora, it is
  /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions for 32-bit arch and

Sorry for being t short in my comment.
 I meant install/libreoffice/share/extensions/
so that is in the package. Does that help?

You are still missing the point :-) It is not a problem to get the path to
install the extension into on different platforms. The problem is that I have
to build a separate package for every platform, even if there is nothing
platform-dependent in the extension itself! There is no other way, as files in
/usr/lib* are considered platform-dependent. Platform-independent data packages
would normally go somewhere into /usr/share. But there is no possibility for
that in libreoffice.

Hi Jay,
I think I am going to install Linux Mint Cinnamon on an other hard drive
to push on testing graphic interface reliability / inconsistency ; with
hardware configuration and screenshots, it may be usefull to debug Gnome
sources (for those who are able, not me). Gotta plan this ! One of these
days...

Concerning soccer, well hu, how to say, I don't mind the bollocksam not
interested in : not any victory won't decrease taxes I pay. More than
that, French football players are recruited for their brawns, not their
brain (remember their behavior during South Africa World Cup : all sons
of DSK, contempt and kinky sex). Last, but not least, the cliché of fans
slumped with beer cans and peanuts is realistic ! I am quite sad to see
that the most popular sport worldwide produces so many selfish people.
We've been brushing against idiocraty for decades.

I hope I haven't offend you with my opinion abut soccer.

Anyway, I have missions today ! Finding cheap strawberries for jam and a
water tank for the garden, shopping and checking bees hives, going off
on reconnaissance of mountain bike paths. Nothing to deal with computers.

So, you can rely on me to warn on any issue.

Good day, Jay.

@Marina Latina
thank you very much!!!

@Micheal Meeks
I hope that output will help you finding the cause of the issue.

I copy here a comment you wrote about Bug 55570

Michael Meeks 2012-12-10 20:43:53 UTC
Fixed in master; will pick to -4-0 shortly - thanks for the report :-)
~all the remaining time in the profile is XML parsing - for future work we
should prolly switch to use the fast-parser instead, to accelerate that, and
look for more simple cases that we can optimise there.

is this speed-up idea still valid?

moreover I'm curious to know - if it's possible - why these performance
sometimes regresses during master developement...

the original autocorrect slowdown issue inherited from OOo was Bug 46805 that
you fixed, then regression Bug 55570 appeared in 3.7/4.0 master era and you
fixed that as well, but now it's back in 4.4 master (4.3.0 beta2 was still free
of it like 4.2.x branch)

start after boot the dataline isn't there, just an empty graph. Currently the
only way to get the data back is by editing the Range for Y-Values property
with the same selected data as before.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55582] Pasting a drawing object while another one is selected overwrites the initial one

2014-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55582

--- Comment #31 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
(In reply to comment #29)
 (In reply to comment #28)

 OK, fair enough.
Again reading your comment 26, I think that is OK to commit.

I agree that pasting to Writer from Draw when
   something selected overwrite
   nothing selected do not overwrite

And from Draw to Draw never overwrite.

I personally think that the above mentioned behavior is inconsistent and might
cause confusion. I think that the relation between the where-you-paste-from and
the overwriting/non-overwriting is hard to understand and thus not user
friendly.

Also I think that the following assumption from the comment #26 is just
speculation:

--- cut ---
But when pasting from draw to writer, you supposedly have nothing selected,
and if, you may WANT to overwrite this keeping the placement.
--- cut ---

I do not like that when applications tries to be clever and do surprising
things.

Petr are you still involved enough or could we ask another developer to have
 this finished?

I am sorry. I do not have time to test the patch.

To be honest. I have newer done huge documents or graphics in LibreOffice. I am
not 100% sure what is the preferred behavior. I have got involved into this bug
because it was my turn to take care of pending patches when the first patch was
waiting in gerrit. All my comments are inspired just by my common sense.

It's important to remember that the documents in Libreoffice will be created

reasons. For instance, we are still using Libreoffice 2.4, because we need to
export writer documents to microsoft office formats often and newer versions of
the Libreoffice have problems with conversion of complex tables, tables in
footers and headers. Avoiding data loss and compatibility of the same functions
in different versions of the program to me seems to be one of the highest
priorities.

moreover I'm curious to know - if it's possible - why these performance
 sometimes regresses during master developement...

At a low level - it's hard to say why this specific regression happened until
we look into it. From a high level, judging the performance impact of any given
change on the rest of the 8 million lines of code is ~impossible. Speeding one
thing up, can make another thing slower quite easily; adding an unrelated
feature can cause a significant performance regression etc.

To try to catch this we have automated performance regression tests which
generate callgrind data. These don't capture auto-correct performance though.

Marina ... thanks for running the profile; I'm afraid my instructions were
wrong ... [ sorry ! ].

The callgrind results will be saved in a callgrind.11541.out file - can you
gzip that and attach it ? - hopefully its still there. Since that has the real
data to fix this with !.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80385] New: PDF Import: Poor image quanlity

2014-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80385

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80385
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: PDF Import: Poor image quanlity
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: suokunl...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.1 rc
 Component: Drawing
   Product: LibreOffice

Description:
LibreOffice imports pdf file with images in it with very poor quanlity.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached test pdf file in your pdf reader, and observe the image
quanlity;
2. Open the test pdf file with libreoffice draw and observe the poor image
quanlity.

The test pdf file was scanned from Toshiba scanner. This happens to all sanned
pdfs.

I am aware that this may be because libreoffice is reducing the image
resolution to make it faster to load pdf files, but anyway it should not make
the pdf un-readable (and importing large pdf with many images in it is always
slow and may cause libreoffice crash sometimes, which is another bug).

you are theoretically right but in real practice there's no bug-free software
and often when you fix one thing is easy to create regressions somewhere else.

regarding the WONTFIX thing, what I meant to say is that since 4.1.6 is the
last 4.1.x release, there's no chance to see a fix in the 4.1.x line to make it
compatibile with 4.2.x (unless you hire a LO developer to have a custom 4.1.7
build)

on the other hand we don't know if developers can bring back the 4.2.x to 4.1.x
compatibility preserving the changes and improvement they did in the trendline
equation thing it's often a trade-off between new features, regressions and
backwards compatibility, and sometimes you can have them all.

I can suggest you to keep 2 different versions of LibO in your PC...
if you are on Windows you can download portable packages from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

then you could install the 4.2.5.2 and keep the portable 4.1.6.2 as a secondary
version, or do the opposite.

Marina ... thanks for running the profile; I'm afraid my instructions were
 wrong ... [ sorry ! ].

The callgrind results will be saved in a callgrind.11541.out file - can you
gzip that and attach it ? - hopefully its still there. Since that has the
real data to fix this with !.

It's my first attempt with valgrind and the man pages are very big to read in
few minutes. I done a rapid copypaste from your comment so, Michael, no
problem! ;)

I recap my steps:

1) Used the sources https://bitbucket.org/vmiklos/lo-daily (are they ok also
for bibisect?)
2) Started LibreOffice for creating the fresh user profile with:
 ./opt/program/soffice.bin
-env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/soffice-bisect-$(git rev-parse HEAD)
3) Closed LibreOffice
4) Copied the .dat files in the autocorrect folder
5) Setted the variables:
unset MALLOC_CHECK_
unset MALLOC_PERTURB_
unset G_SLICE
export SAL_DISABLE_FLOATGRAB=1
export OOO_DISABLE_RECOVERY=1
6) started valgrind with:
valgrind --tool=callgrind --simulate-cache=yes --dump-instr=yes
./opt/program/soffice.bin
-env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/soffice-bisect-$(git rev-parse HEAD)
--splash-pipe=0 /tmp/callgrind-log.txt

The out file is too big (18MB) so here you can find the gzip file uploaded on
dropbox
https://www.dropbox.com/s/v24vifucf1x1ztq/callgrind.out.11541.gz

nice to hear that Markus, however please do not change version field like you
did.

that field should express the first release where the bug appeared, in this
case 4.2.0.1, not the last version where the bug is still present nor the
version where it has been fixed

moreover when we don't exactly know the exact committ that fixed it, we usually
set status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME.

I did the necessary changes here.

I also think in 4.2.5 closing the document

Windows Explorer does not identify anymore, you know? I am only user, and I
also have difficulties with the English language (I'm using Google translator),
so I can not pass more details. Please help us, because the company is wanting
to uninstall LibreOffice from all PC's due to this problem, and do not
particularly want to do that.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80387] New: [EasyHack] extend lint-ui.py to check for UI title labels

2014-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80387

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80387
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: [EasyHack] extend lint-ui.py to check for UI title
labels
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: thomas-l...@arnhold.org
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

We have lint-ui.py, which checks for several settings of ui files, so that they
have consistent borders and so on. See:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/bin/lint-ui.py

The idea is to extend the script to ensure that all title words are uppercase.
There was a commit, which corrected those:
171efcb7acf367e8db53694489815452d2a9894a

But for the future it would be nice if we could warn about those cases.

The titles are inside node: child type=label

Unfortunately the trace (thanks for transferring it) is done on a LibreOffice
without debugging information [ though I see you're helping out with bisects
which is cool ! =], so it's not that useful.

Getting an older version of LibreOffice (or any that exhibit the bug) with
debuginfo installed is really a pre-requisite here; that's what I mean by a
'build with symbols'

Thanks !

I did write a python script to check for titles. I'm currently working to check
normal labels too (not only title labels).
I'll attach the script used to this bug report.

Afterwards I'll have a look at this lint-ui.py to implement it over there.

Kind regards,

I have tried a couple of LibreOffice and OpenOffice versions and they all had

the gdb bt full trace

We use Open/Libreoffice since 2006 and we love it! (I had to use MS Word since
version 6, so I really love it)

But now I am facing a issue, there I cannot find a workaround.

I have a document, with a lot of changes tracking a lot of comments on
authoring and also some images. The doc is 14 pages long.

If I try to insert a heading or sometimes only a text on a specific place in
the doc, libreoffice is running into a loop an beginns to count page numbers. I
killed it with the doc size of 15.000 pages, since the application was
unresponsive.
I created a gdb file, which hopefully will help.

best wishes,
hkais

I have a spreadsheet containing statistics for the weather in the firts half
year of 2014 (week 1 - 26)
To continnue with the next half year I copied this spreadsheet and tried to
delete sheets of weeks 1 - 25. Then the system crasched.
I tried again deleting only the first week (v 1), again a crash.

When I tried with OpenOffice 4.2 it worked, but slowely.

I want to do this because every sheet contains both of cells and diagrams. I
have not found another way to copy a diagram from a sheet to another.

As long as i print it like a normal document everything fits nice.

But when I use mailmerge and print it you can also see in the print preview

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80396] New: odt fields (Title, Author, ...) are empty in Windows Explorer file property dialog and detailed view

2014-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80396

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80396
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: odt fields (Title, Author, ...) are empty in Windows
Explorer file property dialog and detailed view
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: nico...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release

Explorer detail view

After upgrading to 4.2.5, odt files metadata are missing in Windows Explorer
(explorer.exe) dialogs.

Steps to reproduce:

- create a new (empty) odt file and set its Title property (the same happens
for already existing files)
- right click the file and choose Properties
- open the Details tab
- file fields (like Title, Author, ...) are empty
- open the Statistics tab
- the same fields are populated correctly
- now switch to Explorer detailed list view, then show the Title column
- column content is empty (the same as Details tab above)

I replaced the content of LibreOffice subfolder /shlxthdl with the DLLs of
version 4.1.3.2 and the fields came back regularly.

I haven't tested any other version in between, so
4.1.3.2 == OK
4.2.5 == NOT OK

Tested on Windows 7 x64, fully updated.

Hello Pär Helenius,
thanks for the report.

The file you added on OneDrive is not accessible. Could you provide a copy
using Dropbox or any other cloud storage system and add a link to it? You can
also try to .zip it and see if you can upload it.
Otherwise we won't be able to find/fix your issue.

I just tried 4.2.5 final.
It crashes now without any message immediately.

Filling empty cells with content before sorting or changing the starting cell
from where to call the sort does not help anymore. It helped in 4.2.4 frome
time to time, but it wasn't even a stable workaround.

Extrem annoying.

I'll try to create a testfile.

Description:

When importing Excel 2003 XML, LO Calc drops styling for cells after (to the
right of) last cell, containing data in row.
As i remember, it was so since OpenOffice 2.x.
It seems all fine with columns.

Reproduce:

Start Excel, enter any value for A1, set background color in cell format for
[A1:C1], save to Excel 2003 XML. Open it with LO Calc. Only A1 will be colored,
other cells will not. If you open it in Excel, colors will be in it's place.

--- Comment #5 from Firas Hanife firashan...@gmail.com ---
The problem is not your file, but the way you link it. We are not allowed to
access the file, only you can with your private profile.
I suggest you to send me the file as an attachment (not link) with an e-mail
and I'll proceed attaching it to the report.

Thanks
