From results with OpenCL enable works fine for 4.3.0.1.0+/4.4.0.0.alpha0+
with really an awesome time reduction.

I tested these versions under GNU/Linux:

A v3.5.7.2, 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b
B v4.1.6.2, 40ff705089295be5be0aae9b15123f687c05b0a
C v4.2.5.2, 61cb170a04bb1f12e77c884eab9192be736ec5f5
D v4.3.0.2, 14ed55896fdfcb93ff437b85c4f3e1923d2b1409

Hard recalc, indicates similar results to those reported.

Attachment 100853: A ~9 sec; B ~16 sec; C ~16 sec (~16 sec); D ~19 sec (~19
sec)
Attachment 100921: A 1 sec; B ~50 sec; C 1 sec; D 1 sec
Attachment 100922: A 9 sec; B ~52 sec; C ~29 sec (1 sec); D ~46 sec (1 sec)

Figures in brackets are for OpenCL turned on i.e., original attachment seems
unaffected. Not sure this is confirmation.

A few more things to describe.

Meantime I updated my LibreOffice to version 4.2.5. but still the same problem.

When I create a new Document based on the Template, all work fine as expected.
Saved Documents, saved with 4.1.6, 4.2.4 and 4.2.5, i can't click on that
fields where TextImput-Fields behind. They won't open as expected. Also I can't
edit the Var's behind that TextImput-Fields.

I provide you a saved Document, based on that template, and hope you find a
solution.

I found some issues within the forum's describing the same problem.

(In reply to comment #4)
So to me 'Page 4 / 302' doesnt have a page number according
to the printed page numbers on the page.

As I explained, what is displayed on the page is not relevant to what is
displayed in the status bar. Refer the attached example. None of the pages
display a page number in the document, but all display page numbering
information, in addition to positional information, in the status bar. This
enhancement will simply make these two pieces of information more consistent
and clear.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80823] MAILMERGE: Use IDocumentMarkAccess::UNO_BOOKMARK to mark end of one mail merge part

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80823

--- Comment #1 from Jan-Marek Glogowski glo...@fbihome.de ---
Created attachment 102189
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=102189action=edit
hot spot function tree of a complex, 3000 documents mail merge via UNO.

This is from my initial callgrind of a mail merge of 3000 documents with our
real, primary document template, where the examples documents from #79067 are
based on.

The callgrind has 4.5 MB and I don't have a place to store it. Probably someone
can offer storage ;-) So the callgrind would just be a reference, I can't
supply the documents, but it shows the hot spots. The callgrind ran almost a
whole weekend.

FYI: the document has 19 special frames, that's why mail merge will stop
after 3450 documents (16bit index used for the vector). Me / a collegue will
work on a patch for that, but it's currently not our primary concern, as MM
produces broken results for various examples documents. Fixes for most are in
private/jmux/mailmerge-fixes.

There are various patches related to MM perforamnce in
private/jmux/sorted-pagedesc+spzfrmfmts

= The hot spots =

1. AppendAllObjs

This algorithm was probably written for a linked list, where removing the first
element is cheap. For vectors it's ridiculously expensive, especially for
vectors with 65000 objects...

Working fix in private/jmux/sorted-pagedesc+spzfrmfmts

2. lcl_GetUniqueFlyName

These code has two problems:
2.1 Creates a lot of temporary OUStrings (billions!) when doing atoi.
 - Actually most time is spend allocation and freeing the substrings!
 - Fix 1: directly try to convert the tail.
2.2 Has to check all entries in SpzFrmFmts. Most are invalid.
 - Fix 2: Sorting this array will help it a lot.
 - Fix 3: Storing the first hole when deleteing would even speed it up.

Broken fix 1 + 2 are in private/jmux/sorted-pagedesc+spzfrmfmts

With thsese patches, both hot spots are gone.

= TODO =

Undo for (vector) lists is implemented by storing the current position. For
sorted lists undo has to store the index of the new object. Not really hard to
fix, but I need more knowledge of the undo code to finally fix it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80794] FORMATTING: Right Align with indentation

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80794

--- Comment #3 from reportingbugs...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #2)
I think this is not a problem of indentation or alignment, but of how (and
when) the resulting cells are shown with the updated alignment/indentation.

 For example:
 1_ In cells A1 to A4 enter numbers 1 to 4;
 2_ Select the cells;
 3_ Click align right;
 4_ Click increase indent.

Initially, cells A1 and A2 show the indent whereas A3 and A4 do not.

But using the vertical scroll bar down, in such a way that the 4 cells
disappear from the screen, and then move it back up, so the 4 cells would be
seen again, the correct indentation is seen.

My point is that the problem doesn't seem to be the alignment or the
indentation, but the refresh of the result.

In version 4.3.0.1 you can actually see the numbers jump to the left as you
scroll, but if you export as a pdf, with the cells visable or not visable on
the screen, the output pdf doesnt show the indentation for A3 and A4.

So it seems that in the example given its a mixture of the screen not
refreshing properly and some other underlying issue with exporting to pdf

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80823

--- Comment #2 from Jan-Marek Glogowski glo...@fbihome.de ---
Even for my 3000 pages doc, CalcLayout is far from any hot spot (MergeNew =
55%, CalcLayout 2.5%).

I didn't yet look at the CalcLayout, but I hope it's possible to change the
code to add an SwNode index, to tell it to just render the appended SwNodes
(nodes after the index).

But yeah - actually the number of pages could just be taken from the current
working copy, but I guess this would confuse the copy of page anchored frames.

I had to add an additional CalcLayout to the new SwDoc::Append code as a
workaround for my delete first node problem, as I was visually loosing a page
anchored node in the displayed document, while the saved document was correct.
This is just a workaround in my branch, until I find the real problem in the
drawing layer.

If I save it in LibreOffice writer format, then the variables are properly

Which OS is this happening on?

You see in the attached screenshot that is Windows

Where is smooth scrolling activated exactly?

Googled it for you: https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/View_1#Smooth_scroll

Since one of the two bugs linked under See Also is closed as not
 reproducible

That is not a reason to close things. Sigh.

Hi Joel,

Thanks for the feedback. Helped me to understand the situation.

1500 enhancement requests. I am not really surprised when I just think about my
own ones and I am only 1 LibO user who rights enhancement requests.

To help, I should have studied how to clone devs...

An own bag tracking system sounds very interesting. I hope that at the
beginning there is a clear differentiation between bug report and enhancement
request.

We will see...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80845] New: FILESAVE: Saving Writer Document to Microsoft Word - User variables are not saved

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

User variables are not saved
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: k...@durgaraoandco.in
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 102192
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=102192action=edit
Template I tried saving in MS word

Problem description:

I created a template document with some user variables. I tried to create a
microsoft word document from that template. All user variables are not saved in
microsoft word document.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Set default file save format to - Microsoft Word
2. Create and Save a Template with some user variables.
3. Create a new document from that template.
4. Fill up the variables.
5. Save the document (to the default docx format).
6. Close all files.
7. Open the Docx file. User variables are lost in this file.

Current behavior:
All the user variable data is just vanishing if saved in microsoft word format.

Expected behavior:
The variables should stay in microsoft word also. As Microsoft word also
supports fields, there is a problem in conversion of fields (variables) from
Writer to MS Word.

IF that is not possible immediatly, atleast the data in the variables should
stay as plain text in the document.

Operating System: Windows (other)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34085] [EDITING] [UI] List of fonts incomplete in context menu

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34085

--- Comment #11 from Marina Latini mar...@studiostorti.com ---
(In reply to comment #9)
 The comments in stdmenu.cxx say:

// more than 100 fonts reduces the speed of opening the menu.
// So only the first 100 fonts will be displayed.

But cutting the list at font no. 100 and assuming that for the other fonts
workarounds will be used is not precisely a clean solution. It resolves one
 bug by creating another.

For example: Would it be possible to load just 100 fonts in the first
instance and, upon scrolling down, then load the missing fonts dynamically
in increments of 100? Or should the current list be replaced with a list of
recently used fonts, as has been suggested before? At least that would make
 a coherent UI without bugs.

I'm agree with you. We could replace the actual list with the list of recently
used fonts (last 10 or 20 recently used should be enough!)
tag VOTE added for this RFE :)

The context menu is common to all the applications, we could change the
component from Writer to LibreOffice.

--- Comment #13 from Andras Timar tima...@gmail.com ---
The fix above solves the problem, but leaves questions open. After this patch
we'll register only LibreOffice's native file types in KindMap.

For a better solution I need to find out, whether registry entries can be
refcounted, so we don't remove items from KindMap with uninstall of
LibreOffice, when other viewers are existing for that file extension.

Probably it makes little sense to register jpeg, png and other common formats,
which are already there by default. Also, image file formats should be
registered as picture not as document.

I'm able to reproduce the bug with 4.3.0.2 under Windows 7 Linux Mint 17:

1. Select D4 (and note that the combo box text field is empty).
2. Open the drop-down and scroll the list using the mouse wheel
   - OR -
Scroll using the scrollbar to some position, and move the pointer over the
list.

This seems to be related to the fact that D4 contains both Western and Asian
text, each of them using a different font (that's why the text field is empty,
I guess). I'm able to reproduce the same with a cell containing Western CTL
text or Asian CTL text. I'm not able to reproduce this with a cell containing
a text of one kind of language (e.g. only Western), even though it uses several
fonts.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80849] New: Linked images broken due to garbage in the path

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80849

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80849
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Linked images broken due to garbage in the path
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: nicotnc-ge...@yahoo.fr
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

After inserting images as linked (as a workaround tentative to bug #46447)
and editing a bit the presentation, some images are no more displayed as they
are looked for in the wrong path.

For example, content.xml before the issue:
draw:image xlink:href=../images/2011-10-WallStreetJournal_AA_SW.PNG [...]

Then:
draw:image
xlink:href=../images/2011-10-WallStreetJournal_AA_SW.PNG%3FrequestedName=2011-10-WallStreetJournal_AA_SW
[...]

This happened both with PNG and SVG images. I could not determine what precise
action triggers the issue.

The bug could be related to #46447 where embedded images href becomes blank and
the picture disappears from Pictures folder.

libreoffice at lists.freedesktop.org, the developer list, does not use
moderation nor subscription (you can tell by the high amount of spam it gets).
Where did you send your patch?

It's not a bug when LO refuses to open corrupted files. The problem here is

I want to export all pages of a large ODT Document to single PNG files.
Important is a fast export of the first page to improve the user experience.

So I wrote a macro which uses jumpToPage and storeToURL with the
“writer_png_Export” filter. This all works. But slow for large documents. It
looks like the storeToURL reformats the whole document for every page export. I
think, this shouldn’t be necessary.

It’s the same behaviour without macro. I open my large ODT file, so I can see
the first page. Looks fine. Now I open menu, choose export/png. Now it
reformats the whole document. Then it asks for the size and after that, it
reformats the document again. Why? The first page is already shown and the
export just takes the first page, so why is there a double reformat of the
document? I think, this is a performance eating bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80477] StartCenter v. Menu Bar conflicting accelerator Alt+H

2014-07-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80477

--- Comment #2 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu ---
On Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit en-US
Version: 4.3.0.2
Build ID: 14ed55896fdfcb93ff437b85c4f3e1923d2b1409
with en-US offline Help installed.

With StartCenter UI panel open, two Alt+H accelerators are viewable. To
choose use of one or the other keyboard focus must be shifted.

With focus on the StartCenter the Alt+H will open help article for Start
Center.

Move the focus (with F10) onto the Main Menu bar. alt+H will open the Help
drop down, a second H or F1 will open the LibreOffice Help main page.

The accelerator can be either alt+H or simply h.

On return from the Help items on main menu (either by accelerator, or by F1
special key)--focus shifts from main menu to the Help button on the StartCenter
panel. Not sure that is the best landing point. Focus should probably remain on
File button of the Main menu bar as with other main tool bar items. Or could
shift back to the Open button of the StartCenter, location with focus when the
StartCenter opens.

When alt+H accelerator is used from StartCenter--on return, focus also shifts
to the Help button, should probably also remain (shift back) to the Open
button.

Yet when either the Main Menu or the StartCenter UI Help button is mouse
clicked, on exit there is no shift of focus from the object that held focus
prior to the click.

Seems like the behavior of the Help accelerator(s) should be consistent. Also
there probably should not be two of the same accelerators visible on screen at
the same time.

Actually this file created with the RC, not with the final release. And it
seems to be a duplicate of Bug 78927. Feel free to reopen - but only if you can
*create* such files with the final release.

 Confirmed in 4.2.5.2
What exactly confirmed? Did you still see the error from comment 0? (I guess
you're talking about your Bug 80793? If so, it's not related to this one.)

For anyone reading this bug: There are many reasons why a document might be
corrupted, and it's a bad idea to handle them all in one bug. This one is fixed
as indicated in comment 1. For any other case please open a new bug.

Requesting developer input on this one as I have no clue if (1) it's a valid
 request

I think it is, as I was the one filing it :D . The goal of the bug was serving
as a reminder of something that should be done at some point.

 (2) if the bug tracker is the appropriate place to list all the
 code that we should remove.

My opinion is that it's a valid place, but of course that's a matter of
discussion.

In this particular case we are not talking about removing a lot of code, just
doing some calls in a different way. I'll try to cook a patch to reduce
unnecessary use of atk_role_register and I think we could close the bug.

Hi Cor,

I just checked this with version 4.1.6.2 and the same problem occurs. Too bad I
don't have all those olders versions of LO anymore. But I have a feeling this
problem has been around for a while.
Just to let you know, this problem does not occurs in MS Office.

Please also consider the problem that the width of the columns changes.

Thank you for your effort,

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56807

--- Comment #4 from Caolán McNamara caol...@redhat.com ---
In 4.3 the what should happen with hylafax is that a dialog pops up in which to
enter the numbers and paste in the full set with commas inbetween and it should
loop through the list of numbers and fax each of them as a separate job.

I'd love to get feedback with the 4.3 release candidates if that that truly
works. The old scheme seems to have come unstuck around the OpenOffice era
rework of printing/pdf export.

supposed the sourceastable-view is open and you enter a new record (empty form
by using the yellow star or copying by dragndrop):

in principal base has two options to committ update/storage:
-- use one of the save-buttons
-- change the the record-line in any grid-control

Version a) producess frequently (not always but .. ) a LO-crash
version b) when using the mouse and click in any grid (sourceastable or
gridcontrol) to any line of an existing record, LO saves the recent record and
changes the pointer - as expected

For your guidance:
The function sourceastable is quite new, and it behaved buggy as stated above
in any former versions, however, it is needed, and it would be great if that
view-control and the personal forms could co-exist safely, but it ooks as the
have effects to eachother

I regret, that there will be no further infos - the database ist gone with the
crash and there will be only screenshots from the recovering-window.

m.

P.S.:
I am the admin in here, and at actual reading the issues I do not treat 4.2.5
as stable enough.

The icons are packaged with the install to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 4\share\config\images.zip

And, it seems to work correctly if that zipped archive is renamed
images_galaxy.zip as suggested. But the install packaging should take care of
this.

Unclear if the links.txt needs to still be adjusted as in comment 18

When installing Libre Office on a minimal system, the install of
 libreoffice4.0 doesn't check for dependencies for 'soffice.bin'.

Hi Brian,

Are you using packages directly from the LibreOffice project, or from some
other source? I believe that our rpm packages include full dependencies in the
spec file, but I'll look into this.

Column A is a messed up with text and values. If you set all values to text in

Apparently LibreOffice don't like different formats in the filter-column, and I
don't know if this is considered as an error.

 Lionel - Thoughts?

I will not, under my decision / responsibility, make LibreOffice Calc depart
from the ODF standard. Whether the ODF standard should be fixed to match
Excel, or if the YEARFRAC option should be a different function in .ods files
and in .xls(x) files is a question I punt to the Calc experts.

I consider authoritative ODF 1.2
http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part2.html#__RefHeading__1017922_715980110
as opposed to
https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=39507

I came into bug 40100 as a *user* because LibreOffice was giving me wrong
results for an obvious case like
=YEARFRAC(DATE(2023;1;1);DATE(2024;1;1);1), so I fixed it. As long as I'm
able to get sane results fom my LibreOffice in some way, I don't care much
about Excel compatibility. I mean: if Excel gives results that are wrong,
then either give correct results in LibreOffice, or have basis 5 be the
right result in LibreOffice, so that I can do
=YEARFRAC(DATE(2023;1;1);DATE(2024;1;1);5) and get the result I expect. But
don't cripple my LibreOffice for the sake of Excel compatibility.
