[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80891] New: Linked image is fully embedded in HTML document

2014-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80891

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80891
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Linked image is fully embedded in HTML document
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: leon.arund...@yahoo.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.4.2 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 102234
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=102234action=edit
Image code appears as LibreOffice as if it were text.

When I insert a linked image in an HTML document (or edit an old HTML page with
a linked image) the image becomes fully embedded in the HTML document. Although
the document still appears as intended when viewed in a web browser, this has
the following consequences:

(A) The file is much larger thanm necessary;
(B) In LibreOffice, either the file cannot be re-edited, or the image coding in
the document.

Steps to create the problem:

1. Save a LibreOffice document as HTML

2. Insert a linked image:

From the menu, choose Insert Image From File …
Check the “link” box
Enter the filename
http://grapevine.net.au/~mccluskeyarundell/NoFootpathsBulahdelah.jpg;
Click “Open”
If requested, click “keep link.”

Step 3: Save the document.

Expected result:
a. The document size should be about 2 kB.
b. When re-opened in LibreOffice, the document should appear with the text
unchanged and the graphic displayed as expected.

Actual result:
The document size is about 100 kB.
When re-opened in LibreOffice, the document appears as in the uploaded
attachment.

 The (originally empty) file after opening in Calc.

 Problem description:
 When I manually create a 0-byte (empty) file and give it e.g. ODT extension,
 opening it in Writer shows up a document with some random characters. Also,
 Writer alters that file (without clicking to save!) so that after that the
 file has ca 1.5 kB. The file is not a valid ZIP archive, but Writer is able
 to reopen it. The same issue with Calc.

Treating (and automatically resaving) an empty file as an OLE2 object is IMHO a
bug, but it is not directly relevant to this bug report...

  - LO should open a blank document (type of the document should correspond
 to the file's extension).

No. An empty file is never a valid ODF document. Or any other kind of document,
FWIW, with the exception of plain text. Making a special case for zero-sized
files in the all the detectors, to only detect by extension, is IMHO not worth
the trouble. Also, I am not avare of any other application doing this.

I've added a test document. Choosing PNG export, you can see the repaginate
progress and after entering the dimension your can see a second repaginate
progress.

We are producing such an ODT document like the attached one with our software.
Our target is to visualize the pages in a fast way, so we coded a macro to
export all pages to PNG. We hoped to get the first page really fast, because LO
doesn't have to render the whole document, but because of the repaginate
progress (?) it takes a long time (some seconds). And exporting every single
page causes a new repaginate progress.

I reported the same bug in feedback 80862, detected actually on LO 4.2.5.2 and
MacOS 10.6.8.

I think the importance of this bug has to be set to more important level,
because it causes the messing up of the files chronology on the user's
computer.
It's a big problem!
I'll return to 4.1 versions, or to OO

Lots of Mac user still use MacOS 10.6.8 (it has lots of feature lost with 10.7
and above), and OO with 4.1 version has discontinued the 10.6.x support.

The attached document (‘character-playbooks.odg’) causes LibreOffice Draw to
crash when opening the document.

The same document, in earlier iterations, has worked fine in the same version
of the program. I can't say specifically which changes preceded the crash.

There should not be any document which casues the program to crash, so I assume
ther must be a bug in LibreOffice triggered by this document.

We have a bug, which occurs on the same doc as the bug provided here:
bug #80392

Mabe it is also correlated to following bug, since the stack looks pretty
similar
Bug #47935

I have attached the gdb backtrace on the crash. I only need to scroll through
the doc and at a random place the libreoffice freezes.

Can someone point me to the place there the issue occurs in the doc, so we can
workaround the stuff.
Seems to be related to anchorings. We use usually As character anchors, if this
helps.

Reproducible, tested using Linux Mint 17 x64 with LibreOffice Version:
4.4.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: f511a2915ed856f048fd7dd91fd9f7537b1e0479

Steps:
* Open Calc
* Right click on Cell A1 Format Cells...
* Tab 'Cell Protection' uncheck 'Protected' OK
* Right click on the sheet1 tab Protect Sheet...
* Enter a password and click OK

* From http://www.ubuntu.com/ copy 'Open source, OpenStack software and tools
for private and public clouds.'
* In Calc select cell A1 Ctrl+V to paste

Behavior: try to right click on A1. It only has the context menu of a protected
cell. If you unprotect the sheet again, and go again to the 'Cell protection'
(steps above) you'll see the 'Protection' is checked again.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80905] New: FILEOPEN: RTF or DOCX repeated fields are shown as plain text

2014-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80905

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80905
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: FILEOPEN: RTF or DOCX repeated fields are shown as
plain text
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: gr...@npsh.hu
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 102261
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=102261action=edit
Steps 1-7

Situation:
Users have thousands of RTF files which are used as main document in mail
merge, having the fields filled from a text file (txt).

Issue:
Repeated fields are shown as plain text (except the first one).

Steps to reproduce(or use the attached document: test.rtf or test.docx).:
1. Create a Word document with MS Office.
2. Insert two MergeField field with the same Field name (eg. TEST).
3. Save the file in RTF or/and DOCX format.
4. Open the file with LibO.

Result:
- First field is shown as a field, but the second field is shown as a plain
text.

Further steps (or use the attached document: test2.rtf or test2.docx):
5. Open the file with MS Office.
6. Insert a new MergeField field before the fields with the same field name and
save it.
7. Open the file with LibO.

Result:
- The first field is shown as a field but the second and the third are shown as
plain text.

Expected result:
- all of the fields should be shown as fields (with grey background).
- If you create a .doc file instead of .rtf or .docx, it works fine.

2. Click the row label or column label;
3. Apply the 'format paintbrush' to your selection.

So, CLOSED as WORKSFORME.

Sorry, but I really don't understand what the report is trying to say. So when
LibreOffice crashes it does automatically restore the last saved version... I
think that is the correct behaviour. It should pick the most recent version:
either your own saved one or the one saved by the AutoRecovery (Tools Options
 Load/Save General; 'Save AutoRecovery information every xx minutes'.

Kind regards,
Joren

 So when i hav data for 2 pages, then the calc print 2 pages. when i have
 data for only 1 pages, calc print 1 page

With the latest libreoffice version (I use 4.3.0.2), it's easy to do what you
need:
1. View - Page Preview mode;
2. Select column A:F, then right-click - Define Print Range.

Then, when you add more data below, the print range will enlarge accordingly.

Set as WORKSFORME.

You can also try by yourself. Just creat any test calc file, fill anything,
then creat any conditioning formatting and drag any cells, then back to see the
conditionging formatting has been changed.
Just do like the file I attached before.

 I think it's not critical since we have a workaround: hard recalc.

You're only speaking as a dev here... As an ordinary user I have never heard of
ctrl-shift-f9.
Consider working with a large spreadsheat with hundreds of numbers. It's
virtually impossible to even know if some numbers are stale or not: the very
reason why a spreadsheat application was used in fist place is to not calculate
manually. It took me a while to recognize that same of the data shown in my
statistics document were wrong, and at least scared me quite a lot that I
cannot 100% trust the numbers I see. Anyway, just wanted to put things in
perspective.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80907] New: Cleanup / performance issue ...

2014-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80907

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80907
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: Cleanup / performance issue ...
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

The writerfilter imports DOCX files and it spends quite lot of un-necessary
cycles allocating un-necessary things and then freeing them very shortly
afterwards =)

The use of boost::shared_ptr creates a chunk of waste here - it requires
allocating an extra object to hold a ref-count; and we can easily do this just
as well with an intrusive pointer that is part of the same object/allocation.

All this sort of stuff:

OOXMLValue::Pointer_t xValue(new OOXMLBooleanValue(pValue));

Should be switched from a boost::shared_ptr to an intrusive ptr - also since
this is all inside one thread domain we should inline non-atomic inc/dec.
operations there too.

writerfilter/source/ooxml/OOXMLFactory.cxx (attributes) shows this stuff.

writerfilter/source/ooxml/OOXMLPropertySetImpl.hxx
   + has code for the OOXMLPropertyImpl etc.

git log -u -1 c4b7910c120be1c5a8462c20b12734139632a4de

shows a change from Kohei doing something similar inside calc.

Thanks !

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80908] New: avoid allocating OOXMLValues when we don't need to ...

2014-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80908

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80908
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
   Summary: avoid allocating OOXMLValues when we don't need to ...
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.0.beta1
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

We spend quite a lot of time on import allocating and quickly freeing again XML
properties; eg.

class OOXMLBooleanValue : public OOXMLValue
{
protected:
bool mbValue;

which can only really hold two states.

Instead we should have a pair of these values and simply return either a shared
pointer to them or (better) as/when bug#80907 is fixed - have 2x static
versions on the stack with an initial ref count set such that they are never
destroyed [ in the meantime I guess a static boost::shared_ptr and a static
boost::shared_ptr Create(bool bBool); type API might make some sense.

Then of course there is the:

class OOXMLIntegerValue : public OOXMLValue
{
protected:
sal_Int32 mnValue;

I strongly suspect that integer values such as '0' and '1' are some large
proportion of these guys; and also our string - integer conversion is not
ultra-fast for single digits; so I would attack:

case RT_Integer:
{
sal_Int32 nValue;
pAttribs-getAsInteger(nToken,nValue);
OOXMLValue::Pointer_t xValue(new
OOXMLIntegerValue(nValue));

This code, and instead get the NULL terminated string from pAttribs (cf. the
context there) - and pass it to a Create method.

That method could then easily special case single character integers returning
a reference to a static array of 10x of them - accelerating the common case,
avoiding allocation, and falling back to the slower string-int conversion.

Just some thoughts there;

Thanks !

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76565] In-place editing of input fields - don't work copy paste and cut

2014-07-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76565

--- Comment #6 from Charles tansta...@libertytrek.org ---
Thanks to the devs for Libreoffice, but...

Just fyi, while this bug may not be considered a BLOCKER by the developers, but
it is a BLOCKER for us.

I started rolling out 4.2.4 the weekend before last, and got about 25
workstations done over the weekend.

Then, during the week, I discovered this bug, and had to start rolling everyone
back very quickly to 4.1.6 due to the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

We have many templates with many Input fields on them, and running headlong
into this dramatically changed behavior (for anyone with lots of templates with
Input fields on them) was jarring enough, but being unable to paste into the
Input fields is simply a show-stopper for us.

So we cannot upgrade past 4.1 until this is fixed.

I'd also really like to see consideration given to my bug 79877 to bring back
the old pop-up behavior as an option (I'm fine with the new behavior as the
default).

  I have sent a fix proposal to the mailing list, but apparently my e-mail was
  not approved by the moderators.

 libreoffice at lists.freedesktop.org, the developer list, does not use
 moderation nor subscription (you can tell by the high amount of spam it
 gets). Where did you send your patch?

 BTW, using Gerrit is much preferred
 (http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/gerrit).

This is the e-mail I received back after submitting my own:

Your mail to 'LibreOffice' with the subject
