https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78073 David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO CC||dtar...@redhat.com Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #1 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com --- (In reply to comment #0) Problem description: Trying to run a slideshow with multiple displays causes a segfault in Impress. I'm running Arch Linux with xmonad 0.11 as the window manager. Changing the window manager makes the problem go away. Changing the window manager to what? We detect various desktop environments and select an appropriate VCL plugin for them. xmonad is probably using the gen plugin (generic X). Change of WM could mean that, e.g., gtk is used instead. So if the crash is in the plugin (most probably), it would of course go away. Alternatively, can you still reproduce it by running SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen soffice from the command line? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84350] Creation of a shapes drop down group button
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84350 --- Comment #8 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com --- Jay I think the problem you are going to have with this enhancement is that it will depend on changing a few other UX aspects. Of all the large drop-down-style examples, only that of Word 2013 offers the same level of convenience to what the Drawing toolbar in LO currently offers. I would certainly not want to draw anything elaborate or large with a single-group drop-down as the amount of clicking would be excessive. For example, by default, the Basic Shape group displays the Diamond, however I can select Hexagon, which changes the displayed shape for that group. I can then draw multiple hexagons fairly quickly and easily, via a series of single-click selections. I can simultaneously do the same for any group, thus having the desired Block Arrow, Callout, Flowchart, or object from another group, should I choose to expose these. With the Word 2013 arrangement each selected shape is moved to the Recent Used Shapes area at the head of the drop-down (or bottom of pop-up if the toolbar appears at the screen bottom). That is pseudo-convenient as it still requires hunting for the required icon each and every time. (In reply to comment #5) If you really want to show them all at once, why not extend the already existing pane in the sidebar? I can see how the proposed enhancement reduces the need for an entire dedicated Drawing toolbar. However I tend to agree with this comment by Regina that the effort would be better spent creating a new pane in the sidebar and then changing View Toolbar Drawing to expose this pane. This is similar to the recent change with regard to the Styles and Formatting toolbar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I absolutely have the highest respect of any LibO contributor and the spare-time many of them bring into the project. As requested by Michael Meeks, I just uploadet a WinDbg Result (don't know if this is what's called a stack trace?). I hope a developer can see more information in it then me, because to me it seems its missing any vital information. Problem is, that actually LibO is NOT crashing, but unresponsive. It uses almost no CPU Cycles, so I guess its waiting for something that's not happening. I also have memory dumps of soffice.bin (214MB) and soffice.exe (35MB) that were made with the hanging LibO. If this is of help to a developer, I can upload it to my ftp and share the URL with a developer over PM (don't want to make full memory-dumps public, due to privacy). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84350 --- Comment #9 from Jean-Francois Nifenecker jean-francois.nifenec...@laposte.net --- (In reply to comment #8) I tend to agree with this comment by Regina that the effort would be better spent creating a new pane in the sidebar and then changing View Toolbar Drawing to expose this pane. This is similar to the recent change with regard to the Styles and Formatting toolbar. Note that, when using Draw extensively, one needs all three toolbars at once: the drawing toolbar, the Navigator toolbar and the Stylist toolbar. To me, the idea of mixing several of these within the Sidebar, typically, the Stylist and the Drawing toobars -- as it seems a given that the Navigator will remain stand-alone -- would interfere with this workflow. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I am unable to reproduce it with any of the more recent builds of libreoffice. Can you please check if you can still reproduce this with 4.3.2, and if so, please let me know. It would also be good if you could send in a screencast of this, so i can better see where i may have gone wrong with your instructions. The error is not showing up in version 4.3.1.2. At last I am not able to reproduce it. It now looks just as I wanted it to do. Perhaps this was a temporary error in the beta version or a local error in my installation? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72424] Writer document re-calculates spread of long table on opening, changing number of pages
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72424 --- Comment #19 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com --- (In reply to comment #17) Maybe I missed something, but the document refuses to rest... Now 43 pages become 48. Same problems I mentioned last time, with the exception of the page margins. The font size has been increased (from 10 pt) to 12 pt, thus the length (once calculated) is now 48 pages. This has to be determined by the rendering engine (by reading through the entire content) as it is not stored in the document. This is normal, as the following hopefully explains. (In reply to comment #18) My thinking is that, ... the layout of a particular ODT is roughly deterministic. Or it should be. I am not one for analogies, but here goes ... There is a difference in computational performance when reading from disk/memory in random-sized chunks vs reading in consistent block sizes that match the handling ability of the operating system. As is always the case with computers, knowing the magic numbers usually helps with performance (and sometimes stability). On-screen rendering is the same, it is just that the magic numbers are the derivative of 400 years of typesetting. Unfortunately, that history is now largely discarded/forgotten, as evidenced by the Design team's recent reworking of the default Writer template. Proportional measures, mismatched sizings, keep-with-next/orphan/widow and similar auto- settings, as well as many other subtle/hidden settings such as table spacing, all come at a cost. In simple terms, the rendering engine has more work to do, particularly if direct formatting is used in an ad hoc manner. This is one reason why I would never use the default settings (template) provided with LO, in situations where layout is important. By contrast, a single page style with *exactly* calculated / matching margins, head/foot area, footnotes, text lines, table spacing, et al. is much simpler for the rendering engine to handle and more likely to produce a consistent result as there is minimal variance. The stability in the example I provided was not by chance. We could create a template using these types of figures, but the problem is it varies according to the number of required heading levels i.e., in order to know how far up the point scale the headings go. This is the nature of typesetting. I have seen most versions of MS Word behave in the same manner as reported here (for the same reasons). I honestly do not believe there is any effective way around the problem reported here, other than what I have tried (in limited manner) to illustrate. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84481] Chart labels mis-rendered in Impress on OSX
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84481 Matthew Francis fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk changed: What|Removed |Added CC||fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk --- Comment #3 from Matthew Francis fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk --- Rendering in Linux (on a recently build 4.4 master) is essentially identical to the Windows screenshot - I think that serves well enough as a reference of correct behaviour already. It's exactly the text funkiness you mention that's the problem, if that wasn't clear. At the angle shown in the linked presentation, the text renders incorrectly, but if you then set it to exactly 90 degrees the problem is no longer evident. None of a selection of past binaries between 4.0.0.3 and 4.2.5.2 showed the same issue, so this is actually a comparatively recent regression. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
