[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84350] Creation of a shapes drop down group button
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84350 --- Comment #16 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #12) (In reply to comment #8) Jay I think the problem you are going to have with this enhancement is that it will depend on changing a few other UX aspects. Can you elaborate on this. This was a general reference to the design plan for toolbars vs sidebar. Rather than elaborate here, I will do so in the Design forum as that would seem more appropriate. I have made a start in these two locations: https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/boards/1/topics/218 https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/boards/1/topics/217?r=219#message-219 One of the primary goals of the single group button is to provide quick access to being able to add a single shape. We are talking different forms of quick access (latency) trade-off here. I will just summarise here both our points. The advantage of having a single always-displayed toolbar with group item, is that the initial click is low latency, but hunting for a specific item remains high(er) latency. By comparison the current toolbar has high initial latency (getting it displayed) and then low(er) latency while in use, as more recently used items are on display at once. Thus for inserting a single shape, the group button is more advantageous, but for constructing a drawing, a dedicated toolbar is often more advantageous. We seem to be in agreement about this and in honesty I do not hold a strong opinion, particular with respect to this toolbar in Writer, but I wanted to make these points clear. I doubt there is a need to dedicate an entire sidebar pane to inserting drawing objects and this enhancement is focused on toolbar users how wont be using the sidebar. I guess this depends, as I indicated above on the ultimate design strategy with respect to the toolbars and sidebar. This is similar to the recent change with regard to the Styles and Formatting toolbar. Can you elaborate on this. I meant that View Toolbar Drawing could be amended to expose a new Drawing deck in the sidebar (as Format Styles and Formatting now will, as per bug 73151). Of course this is speculative, and it may be View Toolbar Drawing will merely hide/reveal a launched toolbar, should this type of behaviour be pursued. Again, this is really a discussion better suited to the Design forum. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81475] Meta: enhancing Writer's standard and formatting toolbars
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81475 Norbert X nrb...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||nrb...@gmail.com --- Comment #23 from Norbert X nrb...@gmail.com --- Let me add something about toolbars. I think this is a good place. I think that dynamic appearance/disappearance of toolbars is not a good idea. For me it is comfortable to place toolbars once and use them when I want to use them, not contextually (current object- or action- dependent). But now in 4.3.2 toolbars disappear even if they have Lock Toolbar Position option checked. Please enable static toolbar positions. Popping toolbars may cause attention switch and may lower document author's productivity. Otherwise you will create another stupid, ugly, non-usable Ribbon/MFI. I think that many LibreOffice users would be happy with MS Office 2003-like interface. Users do not need bells and whistles, they need comfortable and customizable interface. This interface should allow users to place and pin (lock) toolbars as they want and use keyboard shortcuts for more productivity (for example, the fastest way to add Cross-Reference is to press Alt-ie). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84660] New: EDITING: Comments + change tracking = document crippling
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84660 Bug ID: 84660 Summary: EDITING: Comments + change tracking = document crippling Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2.6.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: pepalo...@seznam.cz Steps to reproduce: 1. Create new document in Writer and write or paste some text here. 2. Select a word and insert a comment on it. 3. Turn on change tracking. 4. Select a piece of text which *contains* the commented word and delete that piece. 5. Save the document. 6. Make any (small) change in the text. 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 several times. Current behavior: On the first saving, the commented word (being part of the deleted text) becomes grayed (like a field). With subsequent modifications and savings, the grayed region changes randomly. Expected behavior: Obvious. This bug especially causes trouble when one gets to further editing in the affected region, or to undo, accept/reject change etc. Sometimes it tells me I cannot edit it because it is read-only. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46447] Embedded Pictures disappear from Presentation (ODP) [Summary: comment#58, comment#67. Temporary advise: comment#69]
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46447 --- Comment #148 from Jer arabian.g...@gmail.com --- I used 128MB as that has been suggested in previous posts (Comment 136). Either way I don't think its relevant as the total size of the pictures I embedded into that presentation was only 2.8Mb. So unless LO is increasing the size of my images 50 fold, why should I have any issues? And while I appreciate the suggestion, it is not a solution, merely another workaround (and one that has been suggested for a year and a half; Comment 18). If LO can not even function with a cache lower than 200MB then why is it adjustable? I certainly can not afford to spend days preparing a presentation with the risk of losing my pictures. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34451] Appearing docked toolbars cause document jumping on screen
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34451 --- Comment #20 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbfa...@libreoffice.org --- You can customize toolbars behavior in at least two ways to make them not interfering with the size of the text area: 1/ make the toolbar floating: the first time the toolbar appears undock it and the next time the toolbar will appear it will be undocked. 2/ dock a small toolbar, for example on the left side. I use the Tools toolbar and I keep active only the Insert button. When a toolbar appears (like dock it under the Tool toolbar, the next time it will appear it will be docked there. As you always have a toolbar docked on the left side, new toolbar appearing will not change the size of the text area and the document will stop to jump on the screen. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80752] UX proposal, a relatively easy way to improve LibreOffice visual appearance (but not Ribbons)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80752 --- Comment #10 from Ljiljan lili...@gmail.com --- My suggestion was not to remove current way of toolbar behavour, but rather to add possibilities for users to choose. You want flexibile toolbars - somewhere in options you should be able to select it. You want fixed toolbar, but changing accoring to context - you should be able to select this option. Current toolbar behaviour is annyoing (not completely, but at least 20% of my time). There is no way to disable some toolbars for appearing and changing their position (somehow you can change for current session). I would like to completely switch to sidebar, but some options are still missing there so combination of toolbar and sidebar is still required. I prefer minimalistic design. Only most important toolbars should be enabled. When I want to insert table, table toolbar popup but it usualy take some aditional place on my screen and it moves my text down. When I click somewhere else (outside table) it dissapears and move my text up. Then you move again to the table and toolbars appear and move your text up/ down. I agree that this problem would be fixed if I keep table toolbar on fixed position, but that means less space for real work (writing text and creating other content). I find this annoying, but I understand that some people want to have 25 toolbars open at the same time. But I don't. So creating this option would give both group of people what they want. Table toolbar is not the only problem. Navigation toolbar keeps pop-up-ing as well as some other toolbars. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84666] New: Application window behind windows explorer
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84666 Bug ID: 84666 Summary: Application window behind windows explorer Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2.0.4 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: riggra...@gmail.com Problem description: In the windows explorer, double click in any of the libreoffice files to open it. The program (writer or any) opens the file, but the window stays behind the windows file explorer window. If you double click on a password protected file to open it then the “Enter password” window opens for a fraction of a second and goes behind the current window. If you type the password correctly and press enter, the file opens, even if the password window is not present and when typing nothing is visible. If you click on the icon of writer (or any other libreoffice application) in the windows task bar it doesn't bring the window application to become active, click it in again, retains the window behind, as if it were in the front. Once opened a LibreOffice file, if you open another one, the behavior is like this. Clicking on other application icon to maximize and minimize, then double click on the libreoffice file, will open it correctly. Clicking on LibreOffice application icon to maximize and minimize, then double click on the LibreOffice file, will open it behind the active windows explorer, reproducing this bug. Current behavior: Opens the file and send the application window behind the windows explorer. Expected behavior: It should bring the window application to the front and active for editing.
