When I tried to save as DOC, this file quickly ate up RAM and I had to
terminate soffice.exe. DOCX also hung when saving.

There are so many things to add, wouldn't it be better to make a specialized
sidebar for the header/footer? When you're in the header section, it could
automatically show up. This could give you the ability to quickly:

* Insert fields like page number
* Check boxes for Different First Page and Different Odd/Even Pages
* Header/Footer Margin size
* Option to delete header/footer

Doing it like GIMP would be a bad choice. GIMP's UI is setup that way because

Dave Barton is right.
the issue is due to the page style of that specific file.

I double checked on a fresh new install of 4.3.2.2 and I see that default style
setting have Object/image ticked so if you create a new file from scratch
image will be correctly printed and exported to PDF unless you intentionally
disable that option.

so bottom line is this is NOTABUG and I'm gonna removing it from mab4.2

so windiplayer please check your default style settings and specific files
style settings.

IGN,
I think you're on the wrong track. If you open TXTBK Quiz 1.12.doc in LO 4.1 or
AOO, put the cursor on the ÷ symbol, you'll see the font change to Symbol. If
you do the same in LO 4.2+, the font stays Times New Roman. We're not dealing
with the standard Unicode/ASCII ÷ symbol.

OneDrive, Word2010, Word2013, and Writer 4.2+ all show the  symbol. Unless
someone can show otherwise, I'd say that the current behavior is correct. It's
possible that this file was created with Kingsoft Writer, old OpenOffice, or
some other app that exports to a non-standard DOC format.

Jay I think the problem you are going to have with this enhancement is that
it will depend on changing a few other UX aspects.

 Can you elaborate on this.

This was a general reference to the design plan for toolbars vs sidebar. Rather
than elaborate here, I will do so in the Design forum as that would seem more
appropriate. I have made a start in these two locations:

One of the primary goals of the single group button is to provide quick
access to being able to add a single shape.

We are talking different forms of quick access (latency) trade-off here. I will
just summarise here both our points. The advantage of having a single
always-displayed toolbar with group item, is that the initial click is low
latency, but hunting for a specific item remains high(er) latency. By
comparison the current toolbar has high initial latency (getting it displayed)
and then low(er) latency while in use, as more recently used items are on
display at once. Thus for inserting a single shape, the group button is more
advantageous, but for constructing a drawing, a dedicated toolbar is often more
advantageous. We seem to be in agreement about this and in honesty I do not
hold a strong opinion, particular with respect to this toolbar in Writer, but I
wanted to make these points clear.

I doubt there is a need to dedicate an entire sidebar pane to inserting
drawing objects and this enhancement is focused on toolbar users how wont be
 using the sidebar.

I guess this depends, as I indicated above on the ultimate design strategy with
respect to the toolbars and sidebar.

This is similar to the recent change with regard to the Styles and
  Formatting
  toolbar.

 Can you elaborate on this.

I meant that View Toolbar Drawing could be amended to expose a new Drawing
deck in the sidebar (as Format Styles and Formatting now will, as per bug
73151). Of course this is speculative, and it may be View Toolbar Drawing
will merely hide/reveal a launched toolbar, should this type of behaviour be
pursued. Again, this is really a discussion better suited to the Design forum.

Dear Joel!
I understood, you mean that 4.2 is still supported, so this bug should not be
added to newer 4.3. I missed this, thank you!

But I can't believe that it does not work. Even more I can't group two images
too. May be the problem is caused by self-appearing contextual toolbars
(problems with focus).

The ability of grouping objects in text processor is essential.
This bug makes bad reputation of whole LibreOffice project and may cause user
disappointment.

Please fix this bug as soon as possible.

Let me add something about toolbars. I think this is a good place.
I think that dynamic appearance/disappearance of toolbars is not a good idea.

For me it is comfortable to place toolbars once and use them when I want to use
them, not contextually (current object- or action- dependent).
But now in 4.3.2 toolbars disappear even if they have Lock Toolbar Position
option checked. Please enable static toolbar positions.

Popping toolbars may cause attention switch and may lower document author's
productivity. Otherwise you will create another stupid, ugly, non-usable
Ribbon/MFI. I think that many LibreOffice users would be happy with MS Office
2003-like interface.

Users do not need bells and whistles, they need comfortable and customizable
interface. This interface should allow users to place and pin (lock) toolbars
as they want and use keyboard shortcuts for more productivity (for example, the
fastest way to add Cross-Reference is to press Alt-ie).

If your previous version was not uninstalled, begin by that.
 Try to rename your profile:

 and install again LO 4.3.2.2
 Does this work?

Hi Jacques,
thank you for helping, merci!
My System is Windows 7 Professional, latest Updates (see Attachement
system-screenshot).
I renamed the ...roaming\libreoffice\4 directory to 2014, but the
installation aborts as before (see attachement)
The history:
I installed LO 4.3.2 without deinstallation of the older 4.3.1. The updates
before worked perfect without deinstallation.
When I got the Installation-Error-Message, I checked for the older version. At
this time was no LO installed, only the helppack. So I deinstalled the helppack
and tried again. Same error. Then I tried to install the older version 4.3.1,
same error.
Now I try to install the 4.2.6-secfix: same problem!!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84660] New: EDITING: Comments + change tracking = document crippling

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84660

Bug ID: 84660
Summary: EDITING: Comments + change tracking = document
crippling
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.2.6.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pepalo...@seznam.cz

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create new document in Writer and write or paste some text here.
2. Select a word and insert a comment on it.
3. Turn on change tracking.
4. Select a piece of text which *contains* the commented word and delete that
piece.
5. Save the document.
6. Make any (small) change in the text.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 several times.

Current behavior: On the first saving, the commented word (being part of the
deleted text) becomes grayed (like a field). With subsequent modifications and
savings, the grayed region changes randomly.

Expected behavior: Obvious.

This bug especially causes trouble when one gets to further editing in the
affected region, or to undo, accept/reject change etc. Sometimes it tells me I
cannot edit it because it is read-only.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I have eliminated the questionable fonts and
replaced them with newer but comparable designs. The current version of LO
(4.3.2) accepts all current fonts in my system. Whether the changes to the
fonts or the updates to LO were the fix is now a moot point for me.

Thank you for the follow-up and concern. Hopefully the issue will not
resurface, and seems to be no issue for others using newer versions of LO.

Thank you very much for quick reply.

I believe this is a bug. Since in previous versions, the cut and paste should
also adapt to relative address parts of the formula.

I also experiment with different cell locations on the same file I attached
earlier.

1. Put 1 to 5 on Cell C2:G2
2. Enter the formula sum(C2:G2) in B2 (B2 is now value 15)
3. Assign the name AnotherTotal to B2
4. Select cells B2:G2
5. Cut and paste on cell B10
6. The name AnotherTotal is now B10 and the formula is now sum(C10:G10) the
value is 15 (The cut and paste on the same sheet now adapt to the relative
address parts of the formula.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46447] Embedded Pictures disappear from Presentation (ODP) [Summary: comment#58, comment#67. Temporary advise: comment#69]

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46447

--- Comment #148 from Jer arabian.g...@gmail.com ---
I used 128MB as that has been suggested in previous posts (Comment 136). Either
way I don't think its relevant as the total size of the pictures I embedded
into that presentation was only 2.8Mb. So unless LO is increasing the size of
my images 50 fold, why should I have any issues?

And while I appreciate the suggestion, it is not a solution, merely another
workaround (and one that has been suggested for a year and a half; Comment 18).
If LO can not even function with a cache lower than 200MB then why is it
adjustable? I certainly can not afford to spend days preparing a presentation
with the risk of losing my pictures.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34451] Appearing docked toolbars cause document jumping on screen

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34451

--- Comment #20 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbfa...@libreoffice.org ---
You can customize toolbars behavior in at least two ways to make them not
interfering with the size of the text area:

1/ make the toolbar floating: the first time the toolbar appears undock it and
the next time the toolbar will appear it will be undocked.

2/ dock a small toolbar, for example on the left side. I use the Tools
toolbar and I keep active only the Insert button. When a toolbar appears (like
dock it under the Tool toolbar, the next time it will appear it will be docked
there. As you always have a toolbar docked on the left side, new toolbar
appearing will not change the size of the text area and the document will stop
to jump on the screen.

I use the second way since at least the time of OOo 1.0 and it works perfectly
for me in the most cases.

Best regards. JBF

While the initial discussion in bug 687474 confuses the import and export
functionality somewhat, that bug is about exporting to the Visio .vsd or .vsdx
file format. So, marking this one as a duplicate.

Also, let me express my emphatic support for this feature. Interoperability of
MS-Office applications is obviously important, in itself and as a method of
attracting users over to LibreOffice.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80752] UX proposal, a relatively easy way to improve LibreOffice visual appearance (but not Ribbons)

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80752

--- Comment #10 from Ljiljan lili...@gmail.com ---
My suggestion was not to remove current way of toolbar behavour, but rather to
add possibilities for users to choose. You want flexibile toolbars - somewhere
in options you should be able to select it. You want fixed toolbar, but
changing accoring to context - you should be able to select this option.

Current toolbar behaviour is annyoing (not completely, but at least 20% of my
time). There is no way to disable some toolbars for appearing and changing
their position (somehow you can change for current session).

I would like to completely switch to sidebar, but some options are still
missing there so combination of toolbar and sidebar is still required.

I prefer minimalistic design. Only most important toolbars should be enabled.
When I want to insert table, table toolbar popup but it usualy take some
aditional place on my screen and it moves my text down. When I click somewhere
else (outside table) it dissapears and move my text up. Then you move again to
the table and toolbars appear and move your text up/ down. I agree that this
problem would be fixed if I keep table toolbar on fixed position, but that
means less space for real work (writing text and creating other content). I
find this annoying, but I understand that some people want to have 25 toolbars
open at the same time. But I don't. So creating this option would give both
group of people what they want.

Table toolbar is not the only problem. Navigation toolbar keeps pop-up-ing as
well as some other toolbars.

If the problem occurs when copying from another program like email client, web
browser or pdf reader, it may be possible that the problem is on the side of
the program which does the copy.

When the problem happens (ctrl+maj+V does not work), does the paste work if you
do it in another program like a plain text editor?

Set status to NEEDINFO. Please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once you have

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84666] New: Application window behind windows explorer

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84666

Bug ID: 84666
Summary: Application window behind windows explorer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: riggra...@gmail.com

Problem description:
In the windows explorer, double click in any of the libreoffice files to open
it.

The program (writer or any) opens the file, but the window stays behind the
windows file explorer window.

If you double click on a password protected file to open it
then the “Enter password” window opens for a fraction of a second and goes
behind the current window.

If you type the password correctly and press enter, the file opens, even if the
password window is not present and when typing nothing is visible.

If you click on the icon of writer (or any other libreoffice application) in
the windows task bar it doesn't bring the window application to become active,
click it in again, retains the window behind, as if it were in the front.

Once opened a LibreOffice file, if you open another one, the behavior is like
this.

Clicking on other application icon to maximize and minimize, then double click
on the libreoffice file, will open it correctly.

Clicking on LibreOffice application icon to maximize and minimize, then double
click on the LibreOffice file, will open it behind the active windows explorer,
reproducing this bug.

Current behavior:
Opens the file and send the application window behind the windows explorer.

Expected behavior:
It should bring the window application to the front and active for editing.

It seems to be two related bugs 48300 and 49134
I have tested this in win xp and works fine, in win 7 home premium also works
fine, only on win 8 and 8.1 in present.

I can NOT confirm this problem on my system. For me the shadow is in black even
when the characters are coloured. See the attached screen-shot.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84666] Application window behind windows explorer

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84666

--- Comment #3 from Robert Gonzalez MX riggra...@gmail.com ---
I have updated to LO 4.3.2.2 when it was released last week, and made the tests
since then in different machines that i work with. 3 Win Xp, 1 Win 7, and 2 Win
8.1.

Only in Win 8.1 the problem is present.

I noticed this problem since Lo 4.2.0. Don't know if it was present in earlier
version. My laptop had Win 8 and the problem was present almost a year, then
updated to 8.1 a month ago and the problem still is present. Due to other bug
reports that I have made, I have refreshed user profiles and testing those,
this problem was present.

So i think that this case should be revised and not closed.

Hi Carlo,

From my notes, years back, I read that you must use
  !name datasource.name table.name field
or
 name datasource.name table.name field EQ

I found it not easy to set conditions for various fields/needs, but this
worked.

NB Would you like to hide one line, then keep in mid the difference between
Line end (SHft+Enter), which is inserted by the wizard, and Paragraph end
(Enter) which is what you need.

Also, pls consider to first ask for user-support. For example there is a group
of users with a great variety of skills that can offer help with questions:
  http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/
But maybe you did :)

Kind regards
Cor

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 84670] New: Conditional formatting changes row height

2014-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=84670

Bug ID: 84670
Summary: Conditional formatting changes row height
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: r...@alum.mit.edu

Applying conditional formatting changes the row height (specifically, adds some
margin to the top of the cell).

My default style is defined as

Liberation Sans Narrow + 8pt + Automatic + Centered vertically + Automatic +
FALSE + TRUE + Left margin: 0.03inch, Top margin: 0.0inch, Right margin:
0.03inch, Bottom margin: 0.0inch + White, Transparent.

I have defined a style named Challenge which is linked with Default and defined
as

8pt + Left margin: 0.03inch, Top margin: 0.0inch, Right margin: 0.03inch,
Bbottom margin: 0.0inch + RGB(191, 152, 229), Not Transparent

If I apply conditional formatting to a range of cells, where a cell that passes
the conditional formula is set to style Challenge, all of the rows with cells
in that range get an extra pixel or two of top margin above the text
(regardless off what condition applies within the cells).

If I apply the formatting manually, or by use of STYLE() within formulas, this
doesn't happen: the cells retain their correct height and margin.

I've observed this before with different style settings.

I can confirm this bug on Linux with LO 4.2.6.

When I add a .wav audio file to Impress, it freezes for a pair of minutes and
takes very long time to reproduce the audio.

Rename all fb libs in/below x86 dir:

Now LibreOffice indeed does not show the error message and I can create
 tables etc.

OK, thanks. So that we can reproduce, can you please give us a download link to
the firebird libs you installed (the exact same version), and how you installed
them (if not by the putative installation instructions that putatively come
with the download). Thanks.

 2. While this may be a workaround, IMO having fbclient/fbembed installed in
the system(wow64) dir is a common scenario, is not a problem for other
applications using Firebird and should be handled OK if possible.

Yes.

Not an enhancement, that is a bug because paste special does not work as it
should.

Tested with version 4.3.3.0.0+ (Build ID:
18b9cb260a5ec358f6a7b73362bbc306af0417b1) built at home under Ubuntu 14.04

Reproducible with the master too. Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID:

Summary made more clear (I hope).
