[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91421] Spell checker seems not to work at all; installation as default mode today.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91421 --- Comment #6 from Aphreally hughes1...@gmail.com --- Thanks Beluga for your help on this - if I need the spell checker I'll do what you say. Of course it doesn't fix the problem, which is real. As I said a short while ago, I think the spellchecker doesn't work because it's inner pointers are either not properly pointing, or are pointing to something irrelevant - - -, then said I had to reboot because LibreOffice has stopped being able to open files - - -. The other programs I was using before the re-boot were working fine, it was just LibreOffice that seemed ill. When I did restart, everything was good again with LibreOffice (which I took as confirmation of my opinion). I was going to say yesterday (not as a bug report, but just describing my experience [about what I regard as a general malfunction that will probably take a lot of work to fix, and I don't know enough to try]) that I've noticed quite a few pointer problems etc. while using the Word Processor. These include the cursor being somewhere else than I expect during or after typing an amendment - just an annoyance, not a real problem. Another problem is with good and consistent formatting of automatic paragraph numbering (which IS a real problem), even though I've been extremely careful with amendments along the way, and carefully treating the whole automatically numbered section before I close the file. It looks lovely when I close the file. But on reopening the file, the numbering is right but the sizes are wrong, for example, or everything seems OK except that all the automatic paragraph numbers on all 3 levels are bold when I thought they would be (as they should have been) not bold. Again just my opinion, but it seems that parameters used by the file at reopening time are not what they should have been set at, or are not where they should be - when at file closing time they made everything look OK. Anyway I'm not a rich person, and haven't yet made a donation - I will when either of these issues suddenly come right in some revised release without breaking something else - - - Best wishes! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91648] LibreOffice Keeps Seizing Up, Forcing Manual Restart Document Recovery
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91648 Terrence Enger lo_b...@iseries-guru.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||lo_b...@iseries-guru.com Summary|LibreOffice Keeps Seizing |LibreOffice Keeps Seizing |Uo, Forcing Manual Restart |Up, Forcing Manual Restart | Document Recovery | Document Recovery --- Comment #1 from Terrence Enger lo_b...@iseries-guru.com --- (In reply to Donald Darden from comment #0) An incidental issue is that when copying plain text from another file, the horizontal spacing between vertical columns is screwed up, so the columns appear skewed back and forth instead of being vertically stacked when the paste is done. I guess that your document is using a variable-pitch font which makes spaces narrower than other characters (which are of different widths, anyway). Try using a fixed-width font for the pasted text--perhaps Courier, or anything with mono in the name. You may also want to use a smaller nominal size for the fixed width font. I think you will find the results more to your taste. And the consecutive individual lines (each terminated with the Enter key) in the selected block from a plain text file may then be pasted into the journal, but seen as though double spaced. This cannot be adjusted out. Repeated attempts only show it was stuck in this mode of pasting at this particular place in the file being handled by LibreOffice. Each line-end from the plain text file is coming in as a separate paragraph. One fix is to select the pasted text and reduce the interparagraph spacing (menu Format Paragraph) to, say, zero. This need not be as tedious as it sounds: styles are your friend. By the way, you may find that the user forum at http://ask.libreoffice.org/ will give you faster and better answers to how-to questions. Alas, I cannot help \with your hang-up. Whenever you create a footnote and save the document as .doc or .docx, when Microsoft Word 2007/2010 opens it, the footnotes' lines always starts with a tab. It's sort of this: An .odt file with a footnote.¹ - 1 This footnote was saved on an .odt file and opened on LibreOffice Writer. A .docx file with a footnote.¹ - 1 This footnote was saved on a .docx file and opened on Microsoft Word. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74088 --- Comment #14 from tommy27 ba...@quipo.it --- I received a private mail from Gwendoline here's what she said - I have installed Yosemite and the latest (4.4.4) Libra office. However I cannot run Dragon Naturally Speaking with this combination of programs to test it since Dragon informs me that it is not possible to run the version I have under OS 10.10.3. However the upgraded operating system does speech recognition and takes dictation. I have not done a formal comparison with Dragon, but in brief it works, and so I am not planning to upgrade Dragon, and my problem is solved. (I can also type two handed now!) THank you. - so basically the original conflict with Dragon and latest LibO releases under Mac is not testable anymore on her system and she's using a different software which works fine in LibO. let's keep this bug report open in case other Dragon Mac users will report additional issues -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91620] Add option to set Paste as unformatted text as default for Ctrl+V

To Cor Nouws, Julian Nabet, raal, and anyone who cares to consider why I am asking for this Paste Unformatted Text as default option: 1) I am using 4.4.3.2. It does not seem to have the right-click pull down option of Paste Special / Unformatted Text - wish it did. (What am I missing on this?) 2) You all are missing the point. My business (and hundreds of others I bet) would like to use Writer forms (or template documents) into which they could paste data from various sources without altering the text formatting they already set up in their forms. When you paste formatted text into a Writer document it brings along the text formatting, of course, changing the formatting in the form! see? Although there are two ways see to paste unformatted text, those ways are cumbersome compared to allowing the end user to simply select a default pasting type as Formatted text or Unformatted text and get on with their work. It slows us down too much to have to do something additional every time we simply want to paste data into our Receipt Form - so we will not use Writer (but wish we could). Here we primarily paste data into our business forms - which we designed... 3) This is a simple but important option that needs to be offered as a user selectable option. When mainly writing reports or letters it seems like a person would select Paste Formatted Text. But if you are filling in forms with data copied from PayPal etc, you would want to paste Unformatted Text. Surely I have explained all this thoroughly enough for you guys to get the picture pretty well by now. (See how they do it in WPS Office - a VERY slick competing Hong Kong bases Office suite, you know?) Cor, it WOULD be SO useful to have a tool bar button which would allow one to toggle Paste Formatted/Unformatted Text. A very nice suggestion of yours! (The guys over at Open Office SHOULD follow your lead on this...) Sorry about writing in upper case, earlier - was just trying to get your attention = seemed frustrated like you guys were missing the importance of this - at least as far as business uses went. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82465] Permanent crashes in writer with images
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82465 --- Comment #13 from thorsten.bran...@brace.de --- It even got worse now after the update. It was a bit more stable with the 4.3.5 version, but the 4.4.3 version I installed last week is making it difficult to work with again. When inserting or copying and paste longer documents (e.g. 5-10 pages) with graphics (3-10) it crashes. Especially if the graphics are scale, i.e. the full scale was dropped into the document and the it was scaled to size. It is a bit more stable when the graphics are prescaled. All my graphics are JPEG images, mostly coming from Photoshop (JPEG, max. quality, 5 passes). Doing the same with PNG does not make any difference. It also occurrs pretty frequently when I have opened several documents, all with graphics, and then save a few times. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91533 --- Comment #6 from Jean-Baptiste Faure jbfa...@libreoffice.org --- (In reply to Beluga from comment #5) [...] So how should I do this change to reach the same result? Install Unity Tweak Tool which is available in the Universe repository. Then you can change the default font, the font scale and tweak the anti-aliasing. Note: Today I installed my own build of LO 5.0 beta1+ on another computer with bigger screen. This computer is under Ubuntu 15.04 x86-64 too and I can't reproduce the problem with it. So the problem seems to be related to the screen size. On my laptop with screen 1366x768 I have the problem, on a screen 1920x1080 I do not reproduce it. Best regards. (Writer) (Fedora 21, Gnome 3.14.) I have noticed this buggy behavior for some time. (Note: I insert page offset values using: Insert Field-More Fields-Page- entering value Offset window. That is the only way I know how to do it.) In a newly created document inserting page numbers using an offset value doesn't work (it inserts a blank space) unless I insert a Page Break with manually changed page number (any value): at this point I may use offset page values in ALL pages (including the first one without manually changed page number). Deleting the newly created page with the manually changed page number deletes all offset page numbering values in the first page (e.g. returns to the previous state). In other words: the offset page numbering value works ONLY if there is in a document at least one page with manually changed page number.
