[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92190] PRINTs landscape despite configured as portrait
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92190 --- Comment #5 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk --- (In reply to MJHauan from comment #4) Start the program. Create a new Writer, Calc, or whatever document. Add some random characters. Then print. The following print dialog shows two conflicting images -- one (on the left) with the print running top to bottom as if in landscape aspect, the other appearing apparently normal in portrait aspect. On actual printing, the landscape version shows up on the paper. This is exactly what I did, on stock TDF LibreOffice and I don't have a problem printing, or even in the printing preview in the CUPS dialogue. This would lead me to believe that the problem is specific to the version provided in the AppStore, or else a configuration problem. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92345 --- Comment #4 from Alex Thurgood ipla...@yahoo.co.uk --- @Michelle: is the document you are working on in Word format or ODT ? If it is an ODT document, was the original template, or document, a Word document that was opened in LibreOffice. Did you originally create the document in LibreOffice from scratch, then export to Word format (if so which one), and then continue to work on it from there ? I am just trying to narrow down the possibilities. Other than stating that the document is big, you do not mention how the document was created. Please note that I am not disbelieving that your problem is real, but without a sample document, and of course absolutely understanding that you don't want to publish your book on the bugzilla website, we can't go much further. Ideally, a Lorem Ipsum (see Lorem Ipsum extension) filled document that uses your document structure and containing the problematic footnotes would be a good starting point. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92374] New: UI: Update the old blackwhite custom mouse cursors
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92374 Bug ID: 92374 Summary: UI: Update the old blackwhite custom mouse cursors Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: r...@akl.lt When LibreOffice needs to use a custom cursor, which the underlying OS does not provide, it currently uses some really old renderings (which I guess might date back even to 90-ies) for those custom cursors. Needless to say, these cursors look ugly. It would be great to have them updated. And if ugly is not reason enough, how about all of these cursors are only defined in one size, thus completely disregarding hi-dpi screens (for example, even stock Windows 7 aero_arrow cursor contains two renderings of the cursor: 32x32 and 48x48, both in 32-bit colors). At the same time, perhaps it would make sense to also drop the ones that are not used anywhere in LibO (I couldn't find any uses of some of the cursors). Additionally, I'm sure there are cases where we are using custom cursors even though the OS provides us with stock ones. I've cleaned that up for Windows in bugs #53148 and #53151, but the situation is likely unchanged for OS X (e.g. #52263, which probably requires special consideration) and Linux. Current cursor files reside in the following places in the source tree: Windows: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/vcl/win/source/src OS X: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/vcl/osx/res/cursors Linux: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/vcl/inc/unx/x11_cursors and probably http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/vcl/unx/generic/dtrans I found it's probably easiest to look for the places defining cursors by Grokking for the word 'airbrush': http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/search?q=airbrushproject=core. Airbrush is one of the cursors that appears to be defined, but never used. By the way, it might be nice to also generate Unix cursors from PNG files and hotspot definitions during compile time instead of having to define them as two header files. This would make them actually viewable and easier to replace. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92345] Text Flow, paragraph to para and footnotes to para inserting blank page CANNOT save corrections to template
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92345 --- Comment #5 from Michelle Christides jungs...@gmail.com --- Alex, I tried to attach my document to email you sent directly to me. At this point, I will publish the whole book on your website to solve this problem without having to write it again! Here are my answers to your questions, inserted at each one: is the document you are working on in Word format or ODT ? I save in Word *.doc -- not *.docx -- therefore in the most used M/S doc. If it is an ODT document, was the original template, or document, a Word document that was opened in LibreOffice. No, I started the book on my iMac from a new text document in LO. I did not experience this problem until later in the length of the document -- then I kept correcting as I went along. This is why Patrick's bug report makes sense to me. No matter how many times I correct, it reverts when I save. I always saved in Word 97/200/XP/2003(.doc) -- then I tried Word 2007/2010/2013XML(.docx) -- because AMAZON wants it. I have used Word since the 1980s and Word 97 seems to be the easiest and most complete for my editing functions as a writer. Did you originally create the document in LibreOffice from scratch, then export to Word format (if so which one), and then continue to work on it from there ? As above, I never exported, never ever saved in odt even the first time (because, as with Gimp or with Audacity, proprietary formats are not easily used when you want to publish). I hate PAGES (the iMac, as you probably know) and when I went to Mac last year, I was recommended LO by a friend, who said it's better than Open Office, which it was until this misery started. I am just trying to narrow down the possibilities. Other than stating that the document is big, you do not mention how the document was created. Sorry -- all my docs are saved as Word 97 and started in new text doc from scratch. Please note that I am not disbelieving that your problem is real, but without a sample document, and of course absolutely understanding that you don't want to publish your book on the bugzilla website, we can't go much further. Problem: When a document produced in LO version Version: 4.3.7.2 Build ID: 430m0(Build:2) is opened in LO version Version: 4.4.3.2 Build ID: 40m0(Build:2), the frame background colors are totally garbled. See the attached screenshots for the difference in rendering. I'm totally mystified because not only has the color changed, it also looks like the background color which used to be specified in the frame's style, is now specified in the paragraph style? I can't verify this because I've now switched to 4.4.3.2 and can't reopen in 4.3.7.2 to check where the color was originally specified. In any case the rendering is totally screwed up. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76817 --- Comment #21 from meneerjanse...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #12) (In reply to Joel Madero from comment #11) @meneerjanse...@gmail.com Please don't add your pet bugs to the MAB tracker - that is not the way to Hi Joel, I can understand your little irritation here, since there is a high pressure on the QA team :) But I have no reason to think that meneerjansen (sounds rather Dutch by the way) really wants to promote a pet bug. I expect it more being a case of limited experience with our complicated work flow. Or too big enthusiasm to lend a helping hand. Anyway: great that you pointed to the documentation. @meneerjanser If you have questions and the opportunity to chime in at irc, we'll be glad to try to help. As much as we would appreciate to see you active in our bugzilla and testing in the future. By working closely together, we can really make LibreOffice better and better. (you won't see me there active that much, busy with other work) Cheers, Cor Dear Cor, dear Joel, I haven't been here for a quite while (dunno how to activate e-mail notification in case of added comments) and I am happy to see that this bugzilla report is regularly fed w/ comments. Being just a simple user, however, I do not see any progress on the issue even though I'm convinced that hard work is being done on this bug by you developers. What I meant by dealbreaker is that many people will probably think the same way as I do but do not take the trouble of filing a bug report or comment in a bug report (read on). This is the opposite of what software developers want: they want as many people to use the fruit of their labor. I realize now that I chose the complete wrong words to encourage and stimulate developers. == [off topic] There a many reasons that people do not file bug reports even though one is always asked to do so in forums: 1. The layout of bugzilla sites is not very clear (and that is putting it mildly). For somebody like me it's almost impossible to figure out what to click, what it all means, how to activate mail-notification, how to find duplicates etc. etc. It's a real pain to do anything w/ bugzilla sites. 2. When you come here you are FTFM'ed and asked to go to yet another medium (i.e. chat) for the bug. The bug is described crystal clear, nothing to add except to ask for (high) priority and the progress on it. So dear Joel, I've read the Wordpress Blog entry to which you posted the link. I agree w/ everything that is said there. :) However, I do not know what a MAB tracker is. Some weeks ago I must have activated it without realizing what it is. I shouldn't have. I'm awfully sorry, but like I said the interface/layout of this site is almost impossible to understand within a hour or so. I also do not know what a pet bug is (pet bug meaning minor bug?). Sorry for using the words deal breaker and me. But if you think that chapter numbering in a word processor is a minor thing, then you might be the best of developers, but then you've clearly never written a document in a word processor as opposed to a text editor. One of the few advantages of a word processor over a text editor is the automated numbering of chapters and sub chapters and henceforth the automated generation of the table of contents. Non-working - or extremely buggy - chapter/outline numbering is a deal breaker for any word processor. Sorry for the strong language, but that's the way it is. It is most definitely NOT my pet bug: chapter numbering is the first thing one starts to use when starting to write a document in a word processor. This way of communicating might come over to you as hostile, but most people think that devs in bugzillas have no feelings at all and therefore use strong language. For this I apologize sincerely. Believe it or not: by emphasizing in my own little amateurish way I wanted to express that developers might want to pause on developing some other bugs because this one is quite big and important. I really think this is THE bug to work on. If not, I dare any of the developers to mention a bug bigger and more important that this one. And as for the exportation to Micro$oft Word: that is also one the most used functions of Libre/Open Office in my experience. Where I come from (the scientific world) we are forced to use a word processor sometimes if LaTeX is not being understood by the (non scientific) people that we HAVE to share documents with sometimes. In those cases we scientists have learned, ever since 1986 (the year TeX was released), that is no good to RTFM to people to learn how to use LaTeX. So I understand the argument of software developers that one had rather add input to the development of LO, as opposed to expecting people who know how to program to do it. If that was the sole behavior of us scientist we'd never walked on the moon or

The main reason I use ctlrhome is to get to my Table of Contents. What you are recommending is that I use a work around in place of ctrlhome instead of correcting the functionality of ctrlhome to match what is expected by the user.
