This is a pretty grim issue, but showing up some other rather useful drop-offs.
It appears that patch #1 fixes the re-sizing for the first window rather
nicely.

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/18601 tdf#94213 - release offscreen texture
properly on re-size.
Then fixes the unit test breakage from patch #1 - make check passes again.

Unfortunately (and amazingly) the 2nd window behaves differently to the 1st
window - (the first window includes a shell that has been converted into a
document type). After some hours of head scratching & debugging it seems this
is
almost certainly related to virtual-device re-use when a VirtualDevice's
OpenGLContext is associated with a window that is not the window we want to
render to - then ... we get issues, and undesirable context switches - which in
turn appear to cause flicker. It is assumed that a GL context switch implies a
glFlush (which we're trying to avoid at all costs to avoid flicker - at least
until the double buffering is perfect & enabled).

So:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/18602 tdf#94213 - calc re-size flicker turns out
to be the status bar.

Fixes calc for re-sizing - by turning off some un-necessary virtual-dev bits in
the status bar, and also forcing an invalidate on device re-size; that appears
to affect only the widget in the top-left corner that doesn't move or re-size
when the window shrinks vertically ...

No I don't have LibreOffice dialogs enabled. I've been using LO right out of
the box except for fixing the miniscule font/cell size in the Spreadsheet.

Yes, it looks like PDF is a nice work around. I exported the envelop document
to PDF and then printed the PDF file. That worked fine. First try!

I cannot reproduce this issue with LibO 5.0.1.2, Win 7 x86-64 version,

Could you try LibO 5.0 or LibO 4.4?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94256] Calc Crashes on sorting, copying sheets (may be related partly to bug 92360).

2015-09-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94256

This problem has been around for a long time, but is intermittent.

When sorting a sheet, especially if a preset range involving first line as
field names is involved,Calc will crash,

On reloading, any other workbooks that were open will likely have to be
restored as well.

I have seen this most commonly i=when a larger workbook of as many as 30 sheets
is involved.

My typical spreadsheets are notably more complex than many users, and involve
inter-sheet hyperlinks, and boolean triggered analytics. Cloning of whole
sheets and other formatting (usually for cosmetics and readability.)

When cloning a sheet, the formulas get modified automatically, making an entire
mess! This is apt to happen if there are hyperlinks and/or formulae that link
outside the workbook.

The spreadsheet may also hacve been working when backed up using Filzilla and a
NAS box, then subsequently restored via Filezilla.

If the sheet is then sorted, a crash results until all the errors in the
formulas have been purged.

Sometoimes it helps to copy the sheet out to a separeate workbook created as a
temporary sport of repository for the parts, then renamed as needed and
subsequently re-exported from the latter workbook back into the original
workbook. This tends to avoid rthe paorlem of crashing when a sheet is cloned
within tthe single workbook.

Note: At times the data may contain multilingual content or handle multiple
currencies etc.

I'm not 100% sure those two things should be tied together. If you email a
file or otherwise send it, you need to ensure the images are embedded. On the
other end though, it'd be nice to be able to make an HTML file without embedded
images without too much fuss.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94252

Bug ID: 94252
   Summary: Gratuitous GL context switching.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.2.1 rc
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.me...@collabora.com

Switching OpenGLContext's is an expensive hobby and implies a glFlush (I think)
-which tends to show the partial construction of what we're rendering before
its ready (ie. creates flicker).

Currently we tend to re-use the OGL context that was previously associated with
a VirtualDevice's SalGraphics; however since we un-bind our framebuffers from
that each time we clearCurrent - then if we have a new context - we shouldn't
try to restore the old context if we have another in-place, but instead just
jump on the new context.

This is done to prepare documents/templates. In line with preparing paper tray
and what ever more people may want to set properly from the start.

> As a document can have multiple page styles, i dont think that it would be
> good to put printing options in to that dialog.

There is an detailed discussion ongoing on the design-list. You may want to

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94091] Removing File > Printer Settings

2015-09-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94091

Aside from the fact that 'print' doesn't print directly anymore: The default
printer is configured at the system settings. Overriding those defaults leads
to inconsistencies and bad usability. And the use case is questionable: Why
should Adrian configure printer A as a system default and printer B as LibO
default?
Another argument: Even when there are aspects that makes it useful in some
situations most of our users will never go to this dialog. We have too many
features that are annoying and confusing to 99.9% of our users.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94228] New: replace BOOST_PP macros with C++11 variadic templates were possible

2015-09-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94228

Bug ID: 94228
Summary: replace BOOST_PP macros with C++11 variadic templates
were possible
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bjoern.michael...@canonical.com

C++11 supports variadic templates:

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variadic_template#C.2B.2B

Previously this was worked around with preprocessor macros. If handwritten,
those might be hard to find, but some are using the BOOST__PP preprocessor
macros and should be easily greppable:

http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/search?q=BOOST_PP_REPEAT=core
 git grep BOOST_PP include/

This task to remove the use of those boost macros and use plain C++11 variadic
templates instead. There is hope this will also lead to less confusing compiler
error messages if those classes are misused.

The image captions disappear (or are hidden) images following tables (page 7+)

Maybe this SERIOUS(!) Bug is connected with table-updates or something.
If you delete the tables (especially the ones with multiline-fields), the
captions are rendered normally.

This Bug makes LO unusable for documents with images and tables.

P.S. If i open this example, LO renders crap for the first page (like failing
to update the canvas). After i "move" the canvas, this crap will dissapear.

appeared.
I don't remember selecting an update to LO but it may have come through Debian

If open Calc / Writer and try to open existing file on NFS failure is silent -
just doesn't happen.
If double click on an NFS file Calc / Writer just do not open.

Invalidation problem

When applying the 'Droid Arabic Naskh' font to the 'elements' word, a too small
invalidation occurs that leaves out an invalid part of the document, then the
whole document is invalidated.

The result and the invalidation command can be seen in the screenshot. The
height of the invalidation is just 789 twips, that is 1/4 of a tile, so just a
single tile gets invalidated vertically.

When we are at that, the

that it returns a generic UNO -> Json conversion of aEvent.State, and it is up

Hi Heiko,

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #6)

> Why should Adrian configure printer A as a system default and
> printer B as LibO default?

It is a setting per document.

> Another argument: Even when there are aspects that makes it useful in some

Of course it is not used that often.
The same with (other features) managing templates and styles that got lost in
the make over of the template dialog. And that now ask for complicated counter
intuitive work arounds.
So I don't argue (on the list) that this menu items must stay. But when
removing, it looks reasonable to have a good functional solution for that use
case.
See the list discussion please.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93854] Cannot understand relationships between numbers by looking at the chart (usability)

2015-09-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93854

I'm not sure to understand your request right. Is it to have more statistical
features or do you want better graphics? LibO has some wizards to support
statistics (Menu: Data > Statistics), and of course you can do any math
yourself, and provides a lot of options to tweak graphics. Although both have
room for improvements I think real statistics shouldn't be done with a
spreadsheet tool.

Regarding your second question: There is some work ongoing (and almost
finished) to make editing of charts easier. First of all the most relevant
options will be available from the sidebar. In the current release you have to
right click the chart and select 'Insert/Delete Axis' in order to add a
secondary x axis.

You should be very carefully with this feature since different y axis might be
known but not x. And these features are rather a way to 'obfuscate' the
information since normal people are not used to read those graphics right.

introduce lists of .uno: commands that are handled.

We should not hardcode the commands, instead the LOK client (loolwsd /
gtktiledviewer) should advertise which commands it can handle to
LibreOfficeKit, and based on that, these should be initialized, and registered
for callbacks.

We don't want to call callbacks of everything, as that can be potentially lots
and lots of commands.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93758] distro-install-desktop-integration uses non portable rmdir and possibly erroneous presumption of INSTALLDIRNAME

2015-09-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93758

apparently the comments weren't clear to me as this is a good way to remove the
install files.

let's focus on issue 2) and simply correct the rmdir invocation to
>rmdir -p $DESTDIR/$INSTALLDIR 2>/dev/null

since there is also a portability issue with mktemp in the same file,
I'll post a patch to gerrit to deal with both of these.

Hi Yousuf,

I got the semicolon by importing the file in Calc, but also by opening it in
Excel 2010, and changing there the separator to coma, gives a coma after import
in Calc.

Could anyone who knows the code have a look? The issue is already bibisected.
The comment in the original check-in suggests another solution.

I would gladly test this and the other related issues fdo#42899 and fdo#67685
once a fix is available.
