After filing the bug, I reinstalled LibreOffice 4, the problem went away. I
worked with 4 until 5.0.2 was released, after which I updated again. Since then
the problem has not re-occurred constantly, though it has crashed once or twice
on closing documents. I am sorry I cannot provide and more precise information
than that.

Example of an bitmap font which is not shown.

The attached example is using the font "Courier" which is a bitmap font.
It is displays in MS Word 2010 correctly, but not in LO 5.0.3.1
Mostly, it is just not displayed at all. (Sometimes you can see artifacts)

Viewing the example document under Linux does not reveal the bug, because the
bitmap font is substituted into a TrueType (or similar) font.
Under Windows 7 LibreOffice isn't substituting the bitmap fonts, but cannot
show it correctly.

The advantage is to know with certainty the style applied to a particular
paragraph/character.

Currently, selecting a paragraph/character, it automatically highlights the
style used, but how to highlight equals if you selected a style in the list.
The indicator is to differentiate the style applied to the selected.
This can lead to confusion when styles are used actively.

I see what you mean.  But if the design currently allows a critical shortcut
(easily the most important shortcut) to be reused for other functions in other
parts of the UI depending on whether they have focus or not, in my opinion
that's a major design error.  (FWIW, I have about 30 years experience in
programming and designing UIs and UI technologies, including working with a lot
of HCI people.)

I am unaware of any popular applications which reuse the Save shortcut for
other functions in the UI.

In fact I was unaware of the practice of having a keyboard shortcut (other than
Tab/Enter) depend on what UI element has focus: hence the common practice to
have many combinations of modifiers (like Alt, Ctrl, Shift, Meta, and even if
desperate Alt-left and Alt-right), purely to avoid any duplication of a
shortcut key, ever.  It's unfortunate, but necessary (IMHO).

Keyboard shortcuts are normally "absolute paths" to a single function in the
application.  Making them context-sensitive is, ah, quite unusual.

I suppose if the shortcuts are partitioned into two sets, so that the
Alt-shortcuts are context sensitive and the Ctrl-shortcuts are absolute, that
might have good arguments in its favour.

Anyway, I will be interested to hear what the design team thinks.

Great.. but currently this is not a document property as it is not written to
the document. So the next time one will open the document this property will
reset and at save the thumbnail will again be generated and stored into the

The original report is very confusing and describes a special case of an issue
I've run into several times within just a few hours of using LibreOffice.

Simply put: after a Cut/Paste/Delete operation, keyboard navigation is utterly
broken.

Now, I don't know who LibreOffice tries to cater to, but I'm amazed this kind
of bug can exist for years. Advanced users need keyboard navigation to work!

Allow me to summarize the research:

* After Paste, if you try to modify the selection using
Shift+Up/Down/Left/Right, the other end of the selection will unexpectedly jump
to A1 (bug 57008, bug 68703, bug 87388).

* After Paste, if you try to modify the selection using Shift+Cmd+Down or
Shift+Cmd+Right, the other end of the selection will unexpectedly jump to
column A or row 1 (this bug). It may be more complicated than that — I haven't
tested this extensively.

* After Paste, if you try to move to the next (but not previous) value in the
column/row by hitting Cmd+arrow, the movement will overshoot by an amount
that's based on the original cursor location (bug 62436).

* After Cut/Delete, if you try to move to the next *or* previous value in the
column/row by hitting Cmd+arrow, the movement will over-/undershoot by an
amount that's based on the size and direction of the prior selection (bug
95730).

It has been conjectured that all of these are in fact the one and the same bug.
Perhaps. But it should be noted that the "Move to block margin" command can
miscalculate the coordinates in three different ways depending on whether
you're simultenously modifying a selection and whether the previous operation
was Paste or Cut/Delete.

Also, when the selection is being modified, even basic Up/Down/Left/Right
navigation is enough to trigger the jump to A1, so it's not just about "Move to
block margin".

However, if these are indeed various manifestations of the same faulty
arithmetic, then fixing it would likely be fairly easy and yield a huge payoff
for the effort in terms of usability.

For now, I'm going back to the increasingly obsolete OpenOffice because it's
just more usable.

I have tested recent and 3.3.0 versions of both LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
LibreOffice has always had this bug, OpenOffice never.

registrymodifications.xcu is generated during runtime, there is no point we
could stick that "patch" in. Specifically, the default sort lists are locale
dependent and are generated from the locale data's day and month names.

Are you saying that for all day and month names, abbreviated and full names,
you additionally want also uppercase lists?

Not as is. The best/cleanest we could do is extend the locale data format to
allow additional lists and add a new interface to obtain all lists.

The hacked way would be to generate also the capital, upper and lower case
variants from the already defined ones, if different. Sooner or later that
would be wrong for some locale, e.g. if lower case names are not used at all.

Tested on following x86 builds, XP sp3, Windows 7 sp1, Windows 8.1 and Vista
sp2

With my usual "Online Update" optional components deselected -- Windows 7 and
8.1 had no issue and showed the entry in the Tools -> Options menu and the Help
menu.  But, for Vista sp2 on initial install it did not.  Hmmm.

>From an Appwiz.cpl launch, do a Change install of the LibreOffice install and
select the Modify radio button. From Optional Components select active the
"Online Update" item and complete the changes.  Relaunch LO 5 and the menu
items are there. And, the update dialog runs.

Do the same steps on XP 32-bit--same result, menu items are present and
functional.

Don't know why the Online Update is missing on initial install, but if
confirmed by other 32-bit XP sp3 users, this seems like a reasonable
workaround.

This file can be opened in version 5.0.2.2 without any problem.
On version 5.0.3.2 the import will read the labels and then assemble all data
lines into one cell.

I can not reproduce with LO  5.0.3.2 (x64), win7, ods file

Not just uppercase, sometime lowercase is missing, or first capital letter
missing.

I want to have everything is 3 lists, first capital letter, upper case, lower
case:
Pon,Uto,...
PON,UTO,...
pon,uto,...

And like this for every day/month name, abbreviated or full. It covers all
normal use cases.

So you're saying I can't prepare list for you in any way because it's code
generated. :(

1. A 10-page file is created in Writer and submitted for editing in a MSWord
environment.
2. The editor makes some changes that are clearly rendered in LibreOffice.
3. The original author wants to reject some of these changes in the middle of
the document and highlights the corresponding fragment of the document, but LO
in the "Accept or reject changes" window returns back to the beginning of the
document (and does not reject the changes).
4. This happens in OS 10.7.5 Lion, but works correctly in OS 10.6.8!
5. Regretfully, I cannot attach the document.

I have installed the latest version of openSuse 42.1. When I use unoconv I
receive
the information: Cannot find a suitable pyuno library and python binary
combination in /usr/lib64/libreoffice.
Unoconv is used to convert LibreOffice file to pdf by a php program. With
former
versions of openSuse and of course LibreOffice I never had this problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. With the php programm I do not receive converted pdf file.
2. Try to use the command at console base the following Information occurs:
unoconv: Cannot find a suitable pyuno library and python binary combination in
/usr/lib64/libreoffice
ERROR: dynamic module does not define init function (initpyuno)

unoconv: Cannot find a suitable office installation on your system.

Sorry, had to scrounge a bit to locate install media, but I also could install
a Vista SP2 x86 en-US system setup for testing.

So, it is interesting.  I performed my usual LibreOffice custom installation of
5.0.2.2, and deselected the Optional Components -> Online Update

Install completed, no issues.  Launch LO 5 and open Tools -> Options...

Hey, no "Online Update" entry! 

And on the main menu Help... Hey, no "Check for Updates..." entry!

That's weird. So from an Appwiz.cpl launch, I did a "Change" to LO, and from
the LO Program Maintenance selected the "Modify" radio button.  In the Optional
Components I selected active the "Online Update" item and completed the dialog.

On launch, Tools -> Options shows an "Online Update" entry, its check now
button launches the update dialog. Also, the menu -> Help "Check for
Updates..." is present, and it launches the update check.

So, back over to the Windows XP SP3 32-bit system. Performed the same
Appwiz.cpl launch and "Change" to the LO install. Selected the Modify radio
buton, and checked on the "Online Update" optional component and completed.

Sure enough -- the Windows XP SP3 32-bit system did the same thing and now has
the entries in the Tools -> Options, and the Help menu. And both launch the
update dialog.

Setting this to Needinfo -- please check if this workaround of a Change install
and Modify of the "Online Update" optional component clears your issue as well?

To me it looks like it does, and also clears bug 95184.

Well, current sort list are already wrong (probably for more then one locale).
In croatian, you never write day or month name with first capital letter,
except for "beauty" reasons of some kind, and that sort list is default (and
only option) right now. :)

I don't believe so.  In that bug, the context menu appears but doesn't have the
options the user expects.  In this bug, the context menu doesn't appear at all
until spell checker finishes working.

Well, the problem was not to disable smartscreen (I already had bypassed it),
the big problem was the error opening the file, I had downloaded more times,
but always with the same result. Then, restarting Windows and downloading
again, now is all OK.
An oddity is too that the dimension of the last downloaded file is exactly the
same of the previous downloaded files (218736 KB for 4.4.6 and 215632 for
5.0.3).

I loaded 5.0.3.2 and this seems to be much better. Although hardware
acceleration is still greyed out, sheets containing only a chart scroll easily
and sheets with data and a chart scroll more smoothly with only a little
juddering.

I created a new spreadsheet in 5.0.3.2 with data and a chart (similar to an
existing spreadsheet) and the sheet scrolled without any juddering.

This suggests that my existing spreadsheets (the oldest created 10 years ago)
might have accumulated various bits of sub-optimal formulae and formats over
the years.

However, apart from hardware acceleration being greyed out, I am now satisfied.

Found out that sort lists are stored in
\AppData\Roaming\LibreOfficeDev\4\user\registrymodifications.xcu

I edited that line, added new entries and sorted them. You can find everything
in attached file. Just need a dev to add it to source. :)

It's for croatian language, HR locale.

At the moment, this bug report is about MS-Windows. If you have the same crash
on each OS while no one can replicate it on Linux, might be the sign of a
different issue. That said, please answer the following questions:

- Where the files are saved? locally or on a remote server?
- Did you try to reinitialize your user profile? If you do not know how to do

There was some confusion on my side. Sorry.

The issue in bug 95582 is not with attachment 116794.
I now attached the correct file there.

The table rending problem from this issue is solved.
The problem reported by Timur in comment #12 is caused by rendering problems of
the contents of the footer.

Will create a new issue for that.

--- Steps to Reproduce: ---

1. New Calc, select a cell;
2. In sidebar, go to "Cell Apprearance -> Specify the borders of the selected
cells", choose "All Borders";
3. In the same sidebar area, select "Select line style of the borders"
--> This command actually activates the "Specify the borders of the selected
cells" command, not the line style command.

"Select line style of the borders" should be the command which allow users to
select the line style (solid, dash, thick etc).

Broken in
Version: 5.1.0.0.alpha1
Build ID: a8e4f75fe264f6ece37c154951cff53f2f4fa3e4
Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN)
Win10 X86.

This is a regression in. It works OK in Version: 5.0.3.2.

This is a follow-up to bug#90357. Use comment 15 and it's attachment from that
task. To reproduce (fix from bug#90357 is needed to not crash):
- open draw
- menu: insert/file..., insert bugdoc from bug#90357, comment 15
- in dialog 'insert slides/objects' press OK (insert all slides)
- scaling does not matter, choose either
- undo -> page vanishes again
- redo -> page appears, but it's objects look quite different due to not
applied styles.

The reason for not breaking up the file is that the used styles Heading
1/Heading 2 have an outline level "body text" (see 'Outline & Numbering' page
in dialog "Edit paragraph style") 

OTOH there are the styles "Dau Chuong" and "Tieu Mac" that are children of
Heading1/2 and they have an appropriate outline level.

Sorry, I am not quite sure what was the exact problem in OOo 2, because for a
long time I didn't use the build-in tables in Impress but only work-arounds. 

I checked it again with LO 3.4 and found - same as Cor - the border update is
working. But the border dialog has more problems there: After opening the
dialog, that border preview window doesn't show any actual border style at all.
So, the usability problem described in my comment 6 became a bit less serious
in LO 5 than before. 

On the other hand, the line style selection in LO 3.4 has many choices (solid,
dashed ...), while in LO 5 only solid and empty are available.
