1)  in one case, it started scrolling the document up (towards the beginning of
the document).

2)  It seems to scroll up and down in some cases.

Nothing I do stops it.  I just switch to another application and when I come
back 1 minute later it is back under control.

It has happened mostly after autosaves but it also happened after I inserted an
image followed by an autosave which made the GUI unresponsive... then it
started to scroll erratically.

Please fix... very critical.

Thank you for this most excellent application.  I have moved mostly away from
MS Office finally.

I haven't yet provided a reduced document (I'm really busy) but I just
downloaded v5.1.22 and the problem so far has not occurred.  In the past I
could reproduce it every time by typing --> which would be autoconverted to a
right arrow character resulting in display corruption.  This doesn't seem to be
an issue now...  still testing though.

Styles not displaying

I defined several custom styles.  In previous versions of the software, they
would properly display.  Now styles are not displaying properly.

For example, in the attached screenshot, I defined a style called "_Hernan:
Checklist Item".  It basically is the default font + Bold + Cyan color. 
However, in the screenshot you can clearly see that anywhere that style is
applied does not show with the proper font face or color.  Almost all my styles
have been negatively impacted.  The same has happened with Headings.  For
example, Header 1 is defined as Arial Black, 120% larger, with a White color. 
Any text with Header 1 style now displays with a black color.

while I realise the program behaviour is as expected when looking at the source
code as explained by Markus Mohrhard in comment #15, this is clearly a bug when
looking at the feature description in the settings under
"Tools" => "Options" => "LibreOffice Calc" => "View" where the checkbox is
called "Show references in color":

When enabling the "highlight-references" feature, it should not matter if the
references used in a formula are in row-column/row#-column# format or in the
more human-readable version using names/named cells.


Again, this is from a user perspective, but if we decide this is no useful
feature, then it should be disabled completely. Or the description should be
changed.

>From my perspective, working with long arithmetic formulas in the
physics/engineering field, this is one of the more annoying usability
disadvantages when comparing my experience with "some other vendor's
spreadsheet calculation software"..

F3 and F4 both have assigned uses already, in general we gain little by simply
shuffling short-cuts.

Repeat and Print-preview are possibly useful keys to reassign a single key
shortcut, but there are others with equal merit.

But, chasing conformity with UIs of Microsoft applications is not a very
rational approach to managing LibreOffice's accelerators/short-cuts.

Design & UX is already looking at facets of this as bug 98255 for Calc to be
able to establish shortcut compatibility mappings for different spreadsheet
program.

Writer printed labels only merge printed the first time it was used. Then it
refused to print or save a file using the same Base db afterword despite
quitting and restarting, creating new writer document, reboot machine. Will
print Writer file without merge printing showing field name in label.

2) think there is needed to change only files:

to not generate files /etc/mime.types and /etc/mailcap
3) regarding sysui/desktop/mimetypes content:
- guess *.desktop files are needed there because user may want to use these
files to launch libreoffice customized way for some mime types or so
(https://specifications.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-latest.html)
- my guess is also that the *.keys files are there for similar reason

Hmm - so consistent with other Draw/Impress tools, pressing escape
_while_ dragging aborts that operation. So you're still in crop mode
then, but the handle adjustment is not applied.

But I suppose you want to also abort multiple crop steps, where in the
end the user decides she does not want any crop at all?

For me the problem is not on the LO side because the pdf does not provide the
required fonts.

Closing as NotOurBug. Please, feel free to reopen if you can provide the
missing fonts and show that, even with the correct font, Draw does not render
the pdf file correctly.

The problem remains. But I noticed that after cutting and pasting without
formatting, the char alignment problem disappears.
Seems something has been reset.

Change "Repeat" shortcut to F4 from ctrl+shift+Y.  Change print preview to F3
from ctrl+shift+O.

The purpose of repeat is so that you can quickly repeat last command multiple
times.  By making it one key, it makes it much more usable.  It was also one of
the things that was immediatly a small annoyance when switching from
Excel/Word.  I customize my menu to do this but I think it would make people
quicker to adapt to Libreoffice if you made this change.

I would also suggest print preview be changed to F3 (or some other super easy
keystroke) compared to ctrl+shift+O.  I think users often want to quickly jump
in and out of print preview and having it simply F3 makes it much easier.  I
also made this customization and once you try it, you will find it a real time
saver.

I love Libreoffice and I think thses changes to the defaults might be easy and
that they might really improve the odds of people switch from over from
Excel/Word.  A repeat command via F4 in Draw would also be awesome.

Confirmed with v5.2.0.0a1 under ubuntu 16.04 x64.

Well scrolling with v5.0.6.1 is already a bit slower, but not as bad as
v5.1.3.1+
With an early dev version v5.0.0.0b3, it seems to work quite well. So set as
regression.

Again - they are not handled by the document window, but by the menu handling
code (going all the way through vcl's Menu and framework::MenuBarManager).

One possible solution is to make Cmd-A|C|V|X|z|Z _never_ go through the menu,
but I doubt that it's the right approach in general, and esp. when considering
comment 144 (i.e. that menu items should also work with the find field). For
the latter, we might try to handle it in SalNSMenuItem::menuItemTriggered, or
even in MenuBarManager::Select.

Setting to new as Heiko confirmed the undo.

@Heiko: I also noticed that at one point even before the undo button became
active, that if i closed the document it also showed save changes dialog.

@Cor: Yep my 2 cpu cores get hammered (> 90%) until it fully loads the 800+
page file, but luckily the UI doesnt freeze for me.

This sums it up well. But while it's true that the original post was specific
to text in tables (maybe NOT a regression but still a problem), others have
opened bug reports about the issue when it involves text outside of tables and
those bug reports have always been merged into this one. Thank you for helping

IMHO it seems obvious what to do. An index entry within an index entry doesn't
seem to make much sense. Therefore LO should paste in the copied content
without the index characteristic, just as if it had been copied as ordinary
text from elsewhere. That change might even be an easy hack.

This is confusing to me... If you "return to end" and "continue writing" have
you not moved your cursor to the end? In which case, the jump back to where you
corrected the typo appears to be a totally different problem.

Nothing changed in LO 5.1.4.0.0+ and master, both build at home under Ubuntu
16.04 x86-64.

I think the problem is that a part of an index entry copied is itself an index
entry. If you paste it inside an index entry, you get two nested index entries.
You can verify this if you paste the copied part of the index entry on another
line.
Not sure if LO can guess what the user wants, inserting a second index entry
inside the first one or only modify it.

I only now realized that you had rotated the video *in PowerPoint* and not
Youtube (thanks cloph on IRC for noting this).

I created a new enhancement request for the ability to rotate videos in
Impress. The missing ability is the root of the problem. I will close this as a
duplicate to have a clean slate.

If visibility, locking etc. can be changed for each layer that belong to the
group yes, it is what I intend too.
And, so, any editing at the draw in a layer immediately reflect in the groups
where the layer belong... :-)

Well, any self-respecting graphics application has the ability to group layers.
Then you can change the properties of the groups like they were individual
layers (visibility, locking etc.).

We have had build failures when compiling in the Turkish locale - ie.

export LANG=tr_TR.UTF-8

This is because in this locale - toupper(i) is != 'I' and toupper(ı) == 'I' cf.
wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_alphabet#Letters 

bug#99587 - is a first cut at fixing one instance of this but - I think we can
conclude on this basis that any use of 'toupper' or 'tolower' in the code is a
bug. Instead we should use our own ASCII comparison functions here - ideally
using the Ascii variants in sal/ OString / OUString which cope with this.

This sort of thing looks plausibly safe in comparison - albeit ugly:

char easytolower( char in )

if( in<='Z' && in>='A' )
return in-('Z'-'z');
return in;
}

$ git grep tolower

WinDbg x86 stacktrace with symbols on Windows 10

Was able to attach to the process catch the hang using the "Automation" batch
from the Wiki.  Whole stack intact with symbols--yay!, I don't have to try to
do it with Process Monitor.  

Confirms Pedro's log, and looks like Tomaž is on top of it (enjoy the
vacation).

@Sophie, how is l10n/i18n being handeled regards the bundled template and
"sample" documents?  Do we make any effort to localize the few core templates? 

Could we, i.e. might the local help translations bundle localized replacements 
for the core templates and how difficult to accomplish?  Or is this best left
to be done and maintained as extensions?

I experience the same flicker effect on various machines and OSs.
I have not checked all transitions systematically, but it is most clearly
visible on transition Fade, Smoothly.

Seen on LO 5.1.2.2 on Windows 10. Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
Also on Ubuntu 16.04.

The only workaround I found to get Impress to a workable state is to remove /
uninstall OGLTranslo.dll / OGLTrans package.

Need specifics...

Do you mean the object reveal animations within a slide from the  "Custom
Animations" deck of the sidebar? Or are you talking about the full slide
advance effects from the  "Transition Slide" deck?

Also, what Linux distro release and desktop environment are you using. Is is
GTK2, or does it enable GTK3?
