[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99870] EDITING: "Delete Comment" in Comment drop-down menu sometimes deletes the commented text!

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99870

I just watched very closely regarding the detail I reported, about LO sometimes
ignoring the first click into a document (and leaving the highlighted comment
text selected).

It definitely happens, but that itself is hard to reproduce.

I see that when the text that's commented is selected, you can tell because the
area gets a reddish colour wash (including a single pixel red outline). But
just now, after copying the text and comment across, and spending a few minutes
working in the newer document, when I clicked back into the body of the older
document with the comment, the text was still selected; I waited 40 seconds but
the mouse click into that document never caused the selection to de-select. I
had to click a second time to make it de-select.

But when I tried to reproduce this small aspect of the behaviour, I couldn't.
I think this is the source of the randomness that made the problem not happen
all the time: now I see that usually, the selection in one document is
de-selected when you change focus to a 2nd document. But occasionally, it
doesn't de-select: it remains selected in the 1st doc.

Assigning a style does not work for the table frame. (Updated)

Steps to reproduce

- Create new drawing

- Select "Insert->Table"

- Select the whole table (right click on the table frame)

- Go to "Format" -> "Style" -> Change Style -> "Line"

- Try to change the style of line -> nothing happens

- The same is applied to the "Color of the line"

Tested in LibreOffice Impress 5.1
Windows 8.1 64 bit.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99870] New: "Delete Comment" in Comment drop-down menu sometimes deletes the commented text!

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99870

Bug ID: 99870
Summary: "Delete Comment" in Comment drop-down menu sometimes
deletes the commented text!
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au

Sometimes (about one time in 5 or 10), when I click on the icon to bring up the
menu of commands that can be applied to a comment, and choose Delete, it
deletes the text in the body of the document, that is being commented on.

(I thought I had reported this bug months ago, but couldn't find any report of
it, so perhaps I overlooked doing so, sorry.)

I've just now experimented and found steps that appear to make the bug
(completely?) reproducible:

1.
Select the text in the body of the document which the comment highlights (being
careful to select the text and using the extra Shift-(Right-arrow) key to make
sure the comment itself is also selected
2.
Without de-selecting the body text, bring up the comment's menu.
3.
Click on the "Delete Comment" menu item.

Result:
Comment *and body text selected* is deleted when you choose "Delete comment".

Expected result:
Just the comment is deleted. (Ideally, the body text would remain selected.)

Workaround:
4. Undo to undelete the text and comment that was just deleted. Ensure text is
deselected. Bring the comment menu back; hit Delete Comment again.

I can't test the reproducibility as much as I'd have liked, because at "step 4"
(for working around the problem), usually the comment has been broken in that
it no longer highlights the text it used to.

That in fact may be a separate bug? But if this is fixed, the other bug would
not be detectable, I imagine.

This happens very frequently to me since a good workflow when working with
someone who has provided comments to documents I'm writing(*) is to copy the
commented text and the comment across to the current version of my document.

Because of bug 60418 it's important to delete the comment from the (copy of the
commented-document), so that performance gradually improves when working on the
old, commented, document.

Because of this, I find I often have to use the obvious workaround (described
above); but each of these operations takes typically 10 secs or so, because of
bug 60418. (Made worse because sometimes a click on the icon to bring up the
menu appears to "get lost" before LO wakes up and does something, so you have
to click, wait a bit, click again, wait, ) So the problem I'm reporting is
a substantial waste of time until the number of comments has dropped below a
thousand or so. And it's easy to forget to de-select the body text before
bringing up the comment's menu; and especially so because I suspect that
mouse-clicks into the body of the document (to de-select the text) also get
"lost" sometimes before LO "wakes up". Probably because it's struggling due to
bug 60418.

(*)
Partly due to bug 60418. But it's also a good workflow if you are taking
comments while continuing to work on the document yourself, so you have to work
from your own latest up-to-date version.

Maxim, thanks for responding fast. It works with View / Grid Lines for Sheet.
It is a reasonable workaround, but there seems to be an issue too:

(1) As no gridlines are displayed status of View / Grid Lines for Sheet does
not seem to be appropriate

(2) What you see prior to exporting is not what you get after exporting

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99845] Cropped Pictures Do Not Save as Cropped Pictures

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99845

5.1.2.2

In MS Powerpoint, if you crop an image on a .pptx slide and right-click on the
image and save the cropped image as .jpg, .bmp. .png. tif etc.. and the cropped
image is stored just as it was cropped in the .pptx slide. You don't have to
save the slide itself as an image or the .pptx, you can just save the
modified/cropped image itself.

In LibreOffice, you have the same option to right-click on a cropped image in
Draw or Presentation layout, and then save it out as a .png, .jpg, .bmp etc.

The problem is that the image that gets saved out is not the cropped version.
It reverts to the uncropped version when you to save it. My general format
choice is .jpg, however I assume it would treat any format the same way.

It's very common to crop images in Powerpoint, right-click on the image and
save it out. I do that quite bit and am just disappointed that you can't do the
same in LibreOffice, even though it looks like the utility is there, it just
does not work properly.

IMPACT
The first impact is inconvenience, because a habitual control+shift+V
occasionally does not work

The second is that when this bug happens, text cannot be pasted without
styling.
The user is therefore forced to paste the text into an unstyled source like
gEdit or Kate, copy it from there, and then do a regular paste in LibreOffice.

It does not appear that the bug depends on the particular text content, since
copying from the terminal window produces different texts but in an identical

The bug does not happen every time.

If anyone would regularly use GNOME or KDE on X or Wayland to copy from
terminal window or browser to LibreOffice, they will find it within a day.

This has been present for many years, and I have seen people blame X or
chromimum-browser.

By using abiword, that also acts differently whether there is styled or
unstyled text on the clipboard, I could confirm that the bug is in LibreOffice
Writer.

The code that fails is to determine what is on the X clipboard. For styled
text, LibreOffice occasionally behave like the clipboard holds unstyled text.

To try out this difference, paste a text selected from a Web page as opposed to
from an unstyled source like the gEdit or Kate text editors.

While testing today's daily, I discovered that shift+enter no longer moves up a
cell when editing a formula. This is a regression, as it has always worked in
Libreoffice 5.1.3 and every other spreadsheet program I have used.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new spreadsheet
2. Enter the formula in the formula bar
3. Press shift+enter

Expected Result:
1. Calculate your formula and move up

Actual Result:
1. It moves down in the current cell

Discovered on: Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1+

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99864] New: trying to change column width in table affects only single row - no way to handle more than one row at a time.

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99864

Bug ID: 99864
Summary: trying to change column width in table affects only
single row - no way to handle more than one row at a
time.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: heinrich.ha...@email.de

Created attachment 125063
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125063=edit
This document has tables in it where I can reproduce the bug

I am running 5.0.6.3 writer (normally using german language interface).
I have a table and I found that the column width were inappropriate.
I tried to change the column width. I was always directed to the table
properties pane (after selecting the entire table or selecting just a column or
what ever I tried). There is a tab for columns. I try to enter my desired
values - strange things happened. More on this below.

The only procedure that did what I wanted is tedious and certainly not
intended:
Place cursor in one of the rows of the table, go to table properties /columns
choose modify table width, start with setting values for columns where the
width is reduced and only then make some columns wider - never overuse your
width-budget. enter ok ->: result is that in the row where the curser was the
cell width is changed as desired. ... Repeat that procedure for every row.

Strange effects observed:

- after changing one width value other values were changed to strange values
positiv ones, negative ones, measurements far beyond paper size.

- after klicking ok the row showed what looked to me like combined cells and in
a subsequent invocation of table properties fewer columns were shown.

- change a width value (whithout setting option to change table width) always
changes the value of the next column, normally spoiling a previous correct
value. If there was a defined column to fill the gap maintaining table width I
could correct values without spoiling correct ones.

I hope you can reproduce the effects with the submitted odt. If there is a
problem reproducing strange effects I certainly can give more precise
directions.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99854] Copy contents from cells massively sets capitalized text

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99854

Hello, MM. I first noticed the bug on Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit. Just open the
attached file and you will see the column D in uppercase. You need to paste the
= function in 100 or more cells at a time. With 99 or less, it shows fine. It
can be even the same text or different text on the referring column, one or
more words, in a given column. The attached file in comment 1 has a little more
than 1100 cells in a column.

This does not happen if you paste the = function in 100 or more cells in a row,
only if you paste it in 100 or more cells in a column.

I do not have a single MS Windows application at home, I would look for at work
if you want me to. I could test it in the following GNU/Linux distributions:

I can reproduce it on:
libreoffice-calc 1:5.1.2-0ubuntu1 (Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit and Lubuntu 16.04 32
bit)
libreoffice-fresh 5.1.3-1 (Arch current 64 bit)
libreoffice-calc 5.1.3.1 (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, 5.1.3.1, 64 bit)
libreoffice-calc 1:5.1.3~rc2-3 (Debian Stretch testing, 32 bit)

Does not happen in:
1:5.0.6.2-4.fc23 (Fedora 23 64 bit)
1:4.3.3-2+deb8u3 (Debian Jessie stable 32 and 64 bit)
5.0.4.2 (OpenSUSE Leap 42.1, 5.0.4.2, 64 bit)

Thank you for taking the time in solving this.

Have you tried to set the page layout in Writer, menu Format > Page?
Are you able to print a standard sized page (letter or DIN A4 depending or your

There are so much to consider for envelope printing, that I suggest, that you
first discuss it in a forum or on a mailing list. For example:
(A) Do you use the wizard, or do you define the envelope page template
manually?
(B) Do you have checked "Use only paper tray from printer preference" in
Options tab of the printing dialog and set the tray in the printer properties
or do you use the automatic?
(C) Do you have checked "Use only paper size from printer preferences" in
Options tab of the printing dialog and set the paper size in the printer
properties or do you use the automatic?
(D) Is the envelope size directly supported by the printer or do you need to
use a user-defined format in the printer settings?
(E) Do you use the true paper size of your envelope, or do you have added
additional margins to compensate alignment problems?
(F) On Linux? How do you have setup printing?

Created attachment 125062
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125062=edit
This should say コꜜーラ, but the ー becomes an error glyph instead.

I'm writing a text, mainly in English and Japanese, but it includes Chinese and
IPA as well. Normally, Writer handles it without problems, but some special
characters (not Chinese characters) have started displaying incorrectly,
seemingly at random. It's always the same ones, too: ・ (a common mark in
Japanese), ー (also common in Japanese), and ꜜ (IPA downstep).

The two first marks, ・ and ー, stop displaying at the same time, leaving the
error glyph that looks kind of like 口. Whenever they do display correctly, ꜜ
turns into the error glyph instead. I noticed that the problem started after I
first used the ꜜ , so I suspect it's related to that somehow. It's not only
adjacent characters, but all instances of whichever characters are affected at
a given time.

I've tried changing the font to Droid Sans Japanese, since it seems to support
every character I need, but the problem returned within two minutes. Is there
anything I can do to fix it?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99862] New: Can't print landscape mode envelopes

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99862

Bug ID: 99862
Summary: Can't print landscape mode envelopes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: hayesll...@gmail.com

This seems to be an erratic bug since this feature was working a couple of
weeks ago. But using the exact same settings, I have been unable to print
envelopes in Landscape mode.

After dealing with various settings a couple of weeks ago, I was able to print
a couple of envelopes. I never could set the document orientation for
Landscape. But I was finally able to get the Envelope option to print them
correctly. Today, I am unable to get this feature to work at all using the same
settings.

2nd. I am using two Epson printers and I am having the same problem with both
printers. Epson NX415 and Epson Artisan 837.

3rd. As I touched on above, no part of the LibreOffice package will not let me
set the orientation for landscape printing. This includes Writer, Drawing,
Presentation, Spreadsheet, or Database. The orientation problem is a constant
and repeatable problem. I strongly suspect that this is part of the envelope
printing problem or a separate issue. I can't even guess what I did to make
envelope printing to work a couple of weeks ago.

   Product: LibreOffice

When making a column operation with the toolbar buttons, the height of a row
whose height was copied is reset to standard

To reproduce

- Create new chart

- Change the height of a row (row 1) with the mouse

- Select the changed row and pres ctrl+c

- Select another row (row 2) and press ctrl+v; the height of the row is changed
to the height of row 1 (which is expected)

- Mark a column and press the toolbar-button to add a new row

--> The height of row 2 is reset to the standard height

A little bit bizarre...

That has been fixed with the above commit (comment 6). The auto-removal of the

background info.

Confirmed fixed with:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99859] New: [Calc] Font color not correct in DOCUMENT VIEW; transparency in charts garbles PRINT PREVIEW.

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99859

Bug ID: 99859
   Summary: [Calc] Font color not correct in DOCUMENT VIEW;
transparency in charts garbles PRINT PREVIEW.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kurt.pfei...@gmail.com

Created attachment 125059
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125059=edit
Hybrid PDF containing its ODS source document.

Attached PDF file is generated from LibreOffice Calc.

As an LO Hybrid PDF, it contains the ODS source file, and as such contains all
the means to reproduce the observed bugs. The exported PDF itself is good --
the bugs are in how LO Calc...

...displays document parts in the "NORMAL" DOCUMENT VIEW itself,
...displays document parts the PRINT PREVIEW.

In order to see the bugs, you should:

   1. Open PDF with a proper PDF viewer (DONT' open it in LO!).
   2. Extract ODS source from PDF (you should know how to do this) and
  open it in LO.

You can then observe at least two different bugs:

   -

   1. FONT COLOR IN ODS "NORMAL" DOCUMENT VIEW:

The font color of the "Factsheet VfB Stuttgart..." headline in LO view
appears as black on red background.

However, this font color in reality is defined as yellow.

   --

   2. WEIRD ARTIFACTS IN PRINT PREVIEW OF CHARTS:

Use menu "File -> Print Preview", and the same headline now appears in
  correct coloring.

However, now all the included charts do appear very garbled. It seems
that the transparency setting for the trend line causes all the arti-
facts. Removing the transparency on the ODS source will remove the
  artifacts in the print preview.

   -

You can remove the "weirdness" from the print preview by removing the
transparency setting of "35%" from the trend lines inside the charts and
setting it to "0%".

SEVERITY:

  1. If you are a user trying to create charts from ODS spreadsheets, these
bugs can make your workflow almost non-functional -- unless you know
that the exported PDF will be un-affected by the buggy preview.

  2. You can then work around it, by routinely exporting to PDF and look at
THAT output -- but this is slowing down your working speed in a heavy
 way.

I myself spent many hours of trying to get the font color working correctly by
relying on what LibreOffice displayed to me in its own "normal" document view.
The same is true for me trying to get transparency working in exported PDF by
relying on the print preview

In case you only want to only take a quick look first, and currently don't have
time to download the hybrid PDF and take the trouble to reproduce the bug:

==> I'll also attach a PNG which depicts screenshots exemplifying all points
  outlined above.

Thanks for the bug report.
A correction to the description: if you select the blue color, the text isn't
rendered in blue :).

Reproduced in Windows 7, LO 5.1.3.2 and LO 5.1.2.2.
Not reproduced with master build, and in Linux, LO 5.1.3.2.

Paul, does it occur for you in Linux?

The per-component user profile setting size, placement, and sidebar
customization is working correctly.

@bubli, Bjoern -- any specifics you will need to figure out what might be wrong

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99858] New: Linux Libertine and Bolinium fonts always rendered in blue

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99858

Bug ID: 99858
Summary: Linux Libertine and Bolinium fonts always rendered in
blue
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: p...@planetgis.co.za

Linux Libertine and Bolinium fonts always rendered in blue, no matter what
colour selected. Automatic colour displays black though.

Change to other font, then colour appears correct.

This started with 5.1.3. Uninstalling and reverting to 5.1.0.3 resolves the
problem. Not giving up on my Linux fonts...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61174] META: rework of Recent Documents List, options to prevent logging and to manage entries on the list

2016-05-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61174

Adding bug 99187 Documents listed in the "Load URL" toolbar drop list should
update immediately, e.g. after clearing recent documents or opening another
document

Functions of the main menu File -> Recent Documents list should probably also
apply to the document listing of the Standard toolbar's "Load URL" drop list.

Perhaps not the GUI controls to add/remove or sort, but any refresh and control
applied to the menu list should also refresh the listing in the "Load URL" drop
list.

One more note:

I went in to Writer directly (no Start Center), resized the Window width, and
then chose Tools > Options and the window immediately reverted its size before
I could choose the file locations (I couldn't remember where the profiles were
stored).

Yes sorry, that was my mistake. The Load URL dropdown "displays" only entries
taken from the per user history in regsitrymodifications.xcu--the same as the
Recent Documents split menu, while its support for file path completion is
drawn from the OS.

On Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with
LibreOffice 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6)
tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

and latest master
Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: efc05c0a1ecac549c8340a8f9ec4e47556569adc
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.2; UI Render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86@62-merge-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2016-05-13_23:01:28
Locale: en-US (en_US)

While the Load URL widget has some nice autocomplete and "history" functions,
the issue seems to be that updates to listed entries do not matches those of
the main Menu "Recent Items" most recently used item list.

The File split menu "Recent Documents" entry updates, but the Standard
toolbar's "Load URL" dropdown list does not. Seems reasonable the documents
listed can be kept in sync

That the list is not updated, to include clearing the list (as implemented for
the menu in bug 62028) should be corrected. And any additional enhancement for
bug 61174 for the split menu list should also be applied to the Load URL list
as well.

Believe it has been over looked for so long because the "Load URL" widget is
not a default toolbar widget.

Adjusted the Summary.
