Hm... Does the happen with other LibreOffice applications/document types? If it
was the same with Writer, I'd be curious to see what happens if you:
-save document in WordPad,
-open document in WordPad,
-open document in Writer.

Also, which Windows version are you using, and is there maybe a virus scanner
running in the background?
My hunch is that this isn't a LibreOffice issue, since it was working before,
and started freezing all of a sudden, with completely fresh installs as well.
So be on the lookout for unexpected system behavior in the meantime.

Ok, I unchecked the opengl box and it still froze.

I installed version 5.2 beta2 and I tried opening the file from the launcher to
make sure I was using version 5.2 and as soon as I click open, the open dialog
disappears and it is frozen again. It says "Loading document" at the bottom.

I also tried unchecking the opengl box in 5.2. And I saw there is a extra box
below that to force it to use opengl even if it is blacklisted, so I tried it
again with both opengl box's checked.(I restarted LibreOffice before each try)
Still the same frozen result every time.

Oh well, it was worth a try.

See if this option is checked, if so, uncheck it, and try again after
restarting LibreOffice:
Tools -> Options... -> LibreOffice -> View -> Use OpenGL for all rendering (on
restart)

If that doesn't fix the freeze, try LibreOffice 5.2 beta2, available from the
download page. It installs separately from the final releases, no need to
uninstall the current version.

I just started having this problem yesterday where LibreOffice will not open
any .ods documents. I click a file to open it and the LibreOffice window comes
up but it is blank and I have to kill LibreOffice to stop it.
I can start LibreOffice separately and it starts fine. I can make a new calc
document and save it. But then when I go to re-open the newly saved document
it does the same thing again. The files work, I have opened them on a couple
other computers. I have deleted the .lock files that were left from the
freezes, but that didn't change anything either.

Yesterday I wanted to restart my computer because I hadn't in a while and after
I clicked restart it popped up saying LibreOffice was preventing it. So I
cancelled the restart and went to close LibreOffice, but it was frozen. So I
told it to force shutdown. And upon the next startup the above problems
started.

I think something is corrupt somewhere, but I have deleted the whole profile to
reset it and nothing changed. I have reinstalled with multiple different
versions but all with the same result. I feel this is a bug because even if
something got corrupted, reinstalling should fix that right?

The following thread says one should file a bug if resetting the profile
doesn't fix it.

A song file that I was trying to format

This concerns formatting - specifically changing indents of a paragraph.

STEPS
1. Open the attached file.
2. Hit F11 to display Style Formatting window.
3. Place cursor at the start of the first Chord paragraph.
4. You should notice Style SS1b_Chords is highlighted in the Styles list.
5. Whilst observing the Outline level at the bottom of the page, Click the
Increase Indent button.

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Indent increases.
2. Outline level remains the same.
3. Highlighted style remains the same.

ACTUAL RESULT
1. Indent does not increase.
2. OUtline level changes.
3. Style changes at each successive press of the Increase Indent button.

Similarly pressing the decrease indent button changes the outline level and the
highlighted style. Very strange behavior. I was trying to format a song that I
had created in an earlier version of Microsoft Word.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100382] New: Updating Paragraphs Or Styles Is Illogical & Time Consuming For The User

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100382

Bug ID: 100382
Summary: Updating Paragraphs Or Styles Is Illogical & Time
Consuming For The User
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: colin.rimme...@gmail.com

After much trial and tribulation, I finally managed to get a paragraph to
bassume the characteristics of a particular Style, by double clicking on the
style name - I later found that defined in a manual somewhere.

This was a very hit and miss find , as far as I'm concerned. Can I please
request the following :-

Please add two new actions when you right click on a Style in the "Styles &
Formatting" dialog (brought up using F11) :-

+ Apply Style To -> Current Paragraph.
 -> All Paragraphs.
+ Update Style From Current Paragraph.

Even better still, add new action buttons onto the "Styles & Formatting"
toolbar which also do the above. Maybe label buttons "S>P", S>A", "P>S".

This would be useful when a style does not have the Automatic setting checked,
so will not be automatically updated when a paragraph using that style is
formatted differently to the Style that's associated with it. Being able to
manually update the style from the paragraph easily, once the user has decided
that the paragraph format is more akin to what they are seeking.

Adding these new action buttons will considerably improve the usability of the
functionality surrounding applying style formatting to paragraphs. The user
shouldn't have to wrack their brains trying to figure out how to do it - it
should be as simple as a single click of a mouse button.

Strange, works for me (Windows 5.2 and Linux 5.1), probably I missed something.
What I do is:
1. Insert table in Draw
2. Enter text into first cell (123)
3. Set font size to 14 and bold
4. Copy text and paste it into cell A2 -> bold, 14
5. Use context menu > character to set font color to red
6. Copy and paste into A3 -> Red, 14, bold

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100381] New: XY chart in report - X values field setting not remembered

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100381

Bug ID: 100381
Summary: XY chart in report - X values field setting not
remembered
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jr87...@gmx.com

Created attachment 125654
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125654=edit
2 tables each 5 records, 3 fields in embedded HSQLDB to show XY chart bug

When configuring an XY chart in Base Report Builder, the x values field (dates)
setting is not remembered. Consequently the x-axis values are wrong (they are
set to the start of the epoch).

Example charttest.odb file attached (2 tables each 5 records, 3 fields in
embedded HSQLDB). Report 'XY chart2' uses table 'Events2' as data source, with
y values from field 0 and x-values (dates) from field 1, which are not used
when the report is executed.

This does not seem to be quite the same bug as 91289 where x-values (dates) are
reported to be missing (rather than wrong/incorrect).

LibreOffice 5.1.3.2 on OpenSuse 13.2 x64.

[I'm a noobie to Base and to Bugzilla. I think I'm using Base charts correctly
- no response on AskLO - and I hope this report is clear].

Joel's problem is an a11y option which disables the use of font colors
on-screen. So its "doing what its supposed to". I've added a info label to the
font color dialog page to indicate that this option is active when its turned
on, which should help people figure this out if it happens to them.

Outside of that I don't think there much else that can be done here, except to
enhance the feedback that this option is ok. If there is some evidence that
this is getting toggled on as a bug then we'd need some way to figure out how
to reproduce that inadvertent toggling on.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100380] New: Chart in report contains no data unless y values are field 0

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 100380
Summary: Chart in report contains no data unless y values are

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Created attachment 125652
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125652=edit
2 tables each 5 records, 3 fields in embedded HSQLDB with chart reports

When configuring a line chart in Report Builder, if the chart data range option
'First column as label' is cleared and the report executed, the chart contains
no data unless the y value field is field 0.

It is not possible to clear this option permanently: after the report is saved
in Report Builder, then closed and reopened, 'First column as label' is reset
true and chart data series are also reset.

Example charttest.odb file attached (2 tables each 5 records, 3 fields in
embedded HSQLDB). Report 'Line chart' uses table 'Events' as data source, which
has y values in field 1 - data visible in Report Builder but no data in chart
when report executed. Report 'Line chart2' uses table 'Events2', which has y
values in field 0 - data visible in Report Builder (with correct x values) and
in chart when report executed (but x values are formatted as dates!).

Reports 'XY chart'/'XY chart2' show similar behaviour but are there to show
another anomaly which I will report separately (x values field setting is not
remembered).

LibreOffice 5.1.3.2 on OpenSuse 13.2 x64.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100379] ODG file exported from ODP is opened as presentation (Impress ) instead of graphic (Draw)

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Francisco from comment #0)
> It is possible to save a graphics file (ODG) from Impress using the Save as
> dialog.
No, it isn't. The resulting file is actually a presentation with a wrong file
extension. I believe this "ODF Drawing (Impress)" entry in the file dialog is
mainly intended for file open, but shown also in the file save dialog by
mistake.

> However, the resulting file is opened with Impress again instead of
> Draw
Right, because it's a presentation...

> Workaround
> a) Extract the zipfile,
> b) change the content of the file "mimetype" from
> "application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation" to
> application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics".
This works by accident. When LO gets a broken file, and the user confirms
repairing, it assumes that the file extension is correct, and forces the
associated app to open that file...

Actually there is much easier way - just change the extension of a presentation
to odg, and in the LO open file dialog, explicitly choose the "ODF Drawing"
filter. Same would work the other way (odg->odp).

> IIRC there is some key Ctrl+Alt drag that helps with this?

I use LibreCalc on Ubuntu as well, and you must press alt after you've dragged
the cells, but before you drop them. Caveats:

1. Don't drag cells by the header, but by one of the cells
2. Don't hold Alt while dragging, or Ubuntu will interpret that as the "Move
window" command.

This way of moving cells is not intuitive, and there are multiple questions
about moving cells on SuperUser and similar sites:

Bug 58440, bug 65841 and bug 39936 (not fixed in 5 years) indicate what a
clusterfuck (sorry) moving rows in LibreOffice is.

What is so hard about implementing the "Insert cut rows" command from Excel?

For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#GNU.2FLinux)?

If you can still reproduce this, could you retrieve a backtrace? (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100379] New: ODG file exported from ODP is opened as presentation ( Impress) instead of graphic (Draw)

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100379

Bug ID: 100379
Summary: ODG file exported from ODP is opened as presentation
(Impress) instead of graphic (Draw)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: franciscoadriansanc...@gmail.com

It is possible to save a graphics file (ODG) from Impress using the Save as
dialog. However, the resulting file is opened with Impress again instead of
Draw

Steps
1) Create a ODP file using Impress
2) Save as ODG from File -> Save as command
3) Reopen making from the "recent files" dropdown

Result:
The ODG file is opened using Impress instead of Draw

Expected
Since one have saved a ODG, the file should be opened with Draw.

Workaround
a) Extract the zipfile,
b) change the content of the file "mimetype" from
"application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation" to
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics".
c) Rezip the file and change the extention to ODG
d) Open with LibO. It will argue that the file is damaged, but it can repair
it.

Workaround 2
a')Save your file as FODP
b')Open that file with a text processor with UTF-8 encoding
c')Look for the string "office:mimetype" and replace "presentation" with
"graphics"
d') Save that file with the extension FODG
e') Open with LibO: Draw will be the application used.

Note: I have selected the oldest version in which I could reproduce the bug.
However, I suspect that this has been inhereted from OOo.

OS: Kubuntu Linux x64

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92152] Add half arrowheads

Regina Henschel changed:

Yes it is easy. In a first step a volunteer can design such arrow head. There
exists the files standard.soe and arrowhd.soe in the installed LibreOffice in
share > palette. There you can add a new line end. It will be available in your
installation and you can test it. And then attach the changed file to this
issue for discussion.

In a second step UX can decide whether such arrow is useful for all users and
important enough to make it always available, then it can be added to official
standard.soe; or if only important for few but advanced users, then to
arrowhd.soe. Of cause then with a proper patch in Gerrit.

Needed skills (besides compiling and use of Gerrit): Know how to write a SVG
path manually. The two files can work as example how such arrow heads are
defined.

You're right. The original report was about Draw, but later (comment 11) it was

I think I'll close this one as a duplicate of bug 91932, and open a new clean
report for Calc, as the current situation of reusing an originally Draw bug for
Calc is just too confusing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100376] New: image corrupted when

2016-06-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100376

Bug ID: 100376
   Summary: image corrupted when
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: francois.le-f...@techninnov.com

Created attachment 125651
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125651=edit
image moved with arrows down

Sometime (don't have found yet which action causes this) image made of draw
element (square / text / arrows ...) gets corrupted in the following manner:

all arrows from image are moved to stick at the bottom of the page whereas all
other elements remains in place.

It seems to occurs when removing some content in the previous page that require
my image to move from a page to the other in order to follow the page. Or when
copy / paste of image is performed.

This is first very annoying because all arrows needs to be put back in place
manually but worst than they can't be selected so it is impossible to put them
back in place.

Not sure if they can't be selected because they overlap with the footer section
or because they have become ghost elements but I have not found any workaround
rather than copy / pasting all my document into another empty one to get rid of
this.

Here attached is a snapshot of the result where you can find all my arrows
down.
Note: arrows have been redrawn manually in my image so they look doubled here
but originally they were only down and no more present in the image above

It occurs approx three / four time a month when I write document of this kind
(with individual draw elements).
It doesn't occur if image elements are grouped.
Its the first time I report this behavior but it used to occur since
libreoffice 4 from memories.
