That sounds very frustrating indeed. For starters, can you tell me which
LibreOffice version did you use first, and which was used on the other
computer?

This error might be related to specific parts of the document, so it might be
worth systematically copying different parts, and trying to save the document,
thus narrowing down the parts that might cause this failure.
Of course this only works if the issue is consistent, if the same piece of
document can sometimes be saved, but not always, then unfortunately this method
provides no useful information.

I'm glad you managed to find the kind of icons you were looking for in the end.
While I can't claim the SVGs are correct for sure, based on your feedback, I'm
closing this as NOTOURBUG.

If an issue is reported concerning their use as icons, then it'll be
investigated in further detail. Additionally, if you or someone else can put up
an argument why a different SVG format would be better suited for these files,
then it can be pursued as an enhancement request.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100819] New: Can't save my file

2016-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100819

Bug ID: 100819
   Summary: Can't save my file
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.1 rc
  Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mcste...@verizon.net

I have an .odt file, but when I modify it and try to save it, I almost always
get an error. It's usually "Error in writing sub-document content.xml", but
I've also had errors referring to style.xml, "General I/O error", and even one
involving ${arg1}.

I sent the file as an email attachment to another Windows computer, and I could
modify and save it there with no problems.

I've tried copying it on the same computer, and even copied it to Google Docs
and back, with no success.

I downloaded the latest version (5.2.0.1) of LibreOffice, even clicking on
"Repair": still getting the same error.

Even copying a few pages of the document to another file and trying to save it
usually failed.

This is getting very frustrating!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100818] New: add ability to refer to local names in another worksheet to INDIRECT

2016-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100818

Bug ID: 100818
Summary: add ability to refer to local names in another
worksheet to INDIRECT
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lis...@math.uni-bielefeld.de

Created attachment 126131
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=126131&action=edit
test case as described in the bug description

Bug #96915 added the capability to refer to names that are defined in another
worksheet and have local scope there with the normal syntax for names, i.e.
Sheet!Name. Before that, this notation only worked for names either having
local scope in the same worksheet or global names. But what is still missing is
for INDIRECT to deal with this situation too. The attached spreadsheet
"local-name-test.ods" has a local name "pi_value" in Sheet2, and Sheet1
contains one cell refering to with in the formula =Sheet2!pi_value and another
cell with the formula =INDIRECT("Sheet2!pi_value"). In LibreOffice 5.2.0.1 the
first cell works, the second gives a #REF! error. I don’t know Calc well enough
to be certain that there is no other function that would have to be adapted to
deal with references of this kind, so I’d be grateful if whoever gets to work
on this bug could give this some thought. Thank you for fixing Bug #96915 and
for considering this one.

I've tried with a selection and without a selection. Without a selection the
crash is immediate. With some cells selected I actually see the graph show up

I'll confirm as a valid enhancement request.

FYI: Enhancements are tackled almost entirely by volunteers. We have a strong
motto of "doers decide." So - this means that enhancements are largely only
done if a volunteer with coding skills finds the issue interesting enough to
tackle. To be honest, this means that lots of enhancement requests, although
valid, never get implemented.

This particular one would be quite difficult to implement and likely never will
but maybe someone will find it interesting at some point and give it a shot.

I believe this is because of the footer. LibreOffice handles footers different

If you can test please try to remove the footer and then compare the document

Is this a regression from previous versions? Is it still an issue in 5.2?

@Davide: please see this link for how to report a good bug report:

Once you clarify set to UNCONFIRMED. If there is a language barrier I suggest
going to the Italian email list and posting your question in Italian and then
ask someone to translate.

I'll confirm this.

FYI: Enhancements are tackled almost entirely by volunteers. I am only
confirming that it's a valid request, not ensuring that it will ever be
implemented. For it to be implemented a volunteer would have to find it
interesting enough to do which may never happen. The fact that "a lot of people
ask for it" is irrelevant as LibreOffice has a strong motto of "the doers
decide what gets done."

Thanks for the suggestion.

this is the problematic document that i could not open it in libreoffice
because of the crash.

hi every one.
i have a very valuable docx document.
every times, when i want to open this document, libreoffice crashes immediately
and wants to recover my document.
but unfortunately recovery also has no result and libreoffice crashes for me
after completion of recovery.
i tested this documents on windows and also i realized that this file makes
libreoffice crash even on linux, i dont know about mac and other operating
systems.
this file can be open in openoffice and microsoft office without any error and
crashes.
i use windows xp and even it causes the crash on windows ten.
i tested many versions of libreoffice since version 4.3.0 and even the newest
version which is 5.1.4.2 now.
i am not shure about the previous versions before 4.3.0

steps to reproduce:
1- double click in this document.
current behaviour:
sometimes libreoffice crashes and wants to recover this file.
sometimes fatal error SEH exception access violation.
expected behaviour:
this document can be opened properly without any crash.
hope you solve this bug for me.
i pray for you and request Allah's mercy and grace for you.

Would it be possible you attach an example file so someone may try to reproduce
this?
Have in mind that any file attached is automatically made public, so remove any
confidential/private part from it.

LO does open the file now.

It did introduce a new buggy behaviour.

In this spreadsheet with a diagram in it, when editing the diagram LO crashes
and conducts 'data-recovery' for the file.

When I make a new file, input some data and then want to insert a diagram it
does the same, crash and data recovery.

Is it related to CL?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100809] New: UI: Paragraph styles drop-down list on formatting toolbar not closing.

2016-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100809

Bug ID: 100809
Summary: UI: Paragraph styles drop-down list on formatting
toolbar not closing.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: libreoffice...@tasit.net

Created attachment 126123
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=126123&action=edit
Screen capture

Selecting "Edit Style" from the paragraph style drop-down list on the
formatting toolbar opens the paragraph dialog, but does not close the drop-down
list.

This makes it possible to repeatedly open more paragraph style dialogs and
intentionally, or otherwise, apply any available style to the focused
paragraph.

The attached screen capture illustrates the issue.

I have not had the opportunity to test on Linux yet.

I am not sure if this is a regression, or an undocumented 5.2 feature. I see it
as a regression, but if a new 5.2 feature it is "interesting", but pretty
useless and confusing.

Once the menus get reorganized in Draw, it will be there, just like its there
in Impress (Format > Lists > Bullets On/Off).

> And apparently
> the text format is not a property of the container (text frame or shape),
> which I would have expected, since the toolbar is activated only in edit

Didnt follow what you meant here, but manually created bullets dont work
correctly in textboxes or shapes (bug 83659).

Gallery objects have a fix size, and when you need a coil with 200px you have
to scale up the predfined 100px object (for example) to double its original
size.

Not so sure anymore, and perhaps it can be done easily. Such a special curve
could start as a simple sinusoid and offer special options. Could be an
outstanding feature.

Proofreading mode

One of the effective ways to proofread a written document is to use a ruler
under the line you are reading.

It’s not really practical on a computer screen for obvious reasons.

I was wondering whether a “Proofreading mode” could be added to Libreoffice.

When “Proofreading mode” is selected the document goes into print preview mode
and the first line is highlighted in yellow (user selectable colour).

Then the highlighted line can roll up and down the page line by line using the
mouse wheel or the up and down button on the keyboard. That will give you
something close to using an electronic ruler to proofread.

Regards

Michael

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97890] Move shape ruler markers while shape is moving

2016-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97890

--- Comment #3 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips ---
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2)
> I'm not aware of any LibreOffice module that shows object position directly

When you adjust the columns and rows of a table in writer, you see the
positions in the ruler.

Never noticed those small triangles before, but also see them in Dia and they
are helpful only when resizing a non-constrained shape.

This isnt related to typing, because you can only type inside a textbox or
shape. This relates to the moving of that textbox or shape.

Try these steps.
1) Open draw with rulers on
2) Draw a circle
3) Notice the 4 markers in the rulers for the size
4) Move the circle or resize it and notice that the ruler markers only change
after the completion of the action

Was looking for other diagram apps that have this feature in it and found it in
Visio. < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPVlWO1rtbE&t=1m44s >

As stated in the description, this features is primarily useful in Draw's
default view that has grid and helplines while moving disabled.

Also, MIRR should support use of arrays, e.g. =MIRR({-10;23;35;45};0.065;0.1).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100806] New: Word and character count not shown on document open from MS formats

2016-07-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100806

Bug ID: 100806
Summary: Word and character count not shown on document open
from MS formats
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mike.h...@onepoyle.net

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/47.0
Build Identifier: 5.1.4.2 64 bit

On opening a document in one of the MS formats the word and character counts
are zero until after the first edit. ODF formats show these counts on opening.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open any .doc or .docx object
Actual Results:
Word and character counts are not shown

Expected Results:
Counts should be shown

Counts appear immediately if the document is edited.
It's minor, but the difference in behaviour is confusing and hopefully easy to
fix.
Haven't checked if it's a regression.
