Yes this facet of font management needs additional attention.

Each of the UI elements presenting fonts--the Formatting toolbar, the Character
content panel of the SideBar Properties deck, and the new Font Name drop down
list on the Notebook Bar--would benefit from a UI selectable filter "mode" for
fonts.

Currently the list is always the full list of installed system fonts. This is
tedious to work with and being able to filter it down seems useful.

Perhaps three filter modes:

1. default (all system fonts)

2. all fonts used in default or custom styles

3. fonts used in by styles current document

4. user selected preferred fonts

5. fonts used in current document + user selected preferred fonts

The user selected fonts would need a UI for selection--probably a panel added
to the Tools -> Options -> Fonts dialog with check-box selection to offer in
the UI. And would need to be recorded into the user profile--guess
registrymodifications.xcu rather than config.

Nobody seems to notice that this change affects those of us who use text
buttons rather than icons. Using a different icon has no effect on a text
button. Is this just another example of treating text as a second-class (or
last-class) alternative? Doesn't anybody on the "design team" even try to use
text and see if it actually works?

The examples of large (more than 10^6 lines) DBF databses can be taken here:
http://www.gnivc.ru/html/gnivcsoft/KLADR/Base.7z
When opening them in LibreOffice, the DBF file format is imported into
Libreoffice, what takes a really long time and is done in one thread only. When
saved to ODS after importing, the files are opened quickly.

Maybe make a multithread import?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 94987] RFE: MAILMERGE: set the destination path from a variable

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94987

>From my point of view this feature (almost?) already exists, and it's the same
solution then for bug 36075, especially since the other report states he
already uses a Calc file as mail merge input. At least my proposal is already a
workaround for bug 36075.

You can set the merged document name from a DB column. At least that option is
available, if you mail merge a document via "Ctrl + P". I didn't check the mail
merge wizard.

The file name is constructed by concatenating:

1. a path, selectable by the user. If it doesn't end with a slash, it's last
component is considered as the start of the file name.
2. the column data (which can contain a slash - internally LO uses URIs!) or
the original file name
3. an increasing number, if a file with the same name already exists
4. the filetype extension

What is (quite probably) currently missing is the creation of the
subdirectories, as the current temp file code expect the path to exists, where
it tries to create the file (but I didn't check).

If your input DB is actually a Calc sheet, you should be able to construct the
name in any way you want using any Calc formulars.

We probably just need a better documentation for this feature of mail merge and
probably some better UI.

Any additional comments welcome.

Sorry, without an install log (e.g. msiexec.exe /i
LibreOffice_5.1.5.2_Win_x64.msi /L*v install.log) there is nothing actionable
from this submission.

The Source Sans Pro and Source Code Pro (the sourcesans and sourcecode font
bundles in http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/external/more_fonts/ ) are
built and deployed with the installers.

If you rerun the install with logging and still have the issue reopen and
attach the zipped log.

Problem still exist for me. I am using now LO 5.2.0 TDF-Version not from the
repositories on Kubuntu-Linux 14.04 netbook with screen 1024x600)
KDE has the possibility to force the windowsize of 1024x600. So I can work. It
just amazes me that LibreOffice 5.2.0 PORTABLE is running on my netbook with
correct window size under Wine (Windows replacement on Linux).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101744] New: Text-only control interface

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101744

Bug ID: 101744
   Summary: Text-only control interface
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dave.cl...@us.thalesgroup.com

One of the nice things about the old WordPerfect was that, when you chose to
use text controls (instead of icons), the text was arranged on two lines within
the same vertical space used by a single row of icons. Since text controls are
inherently wider than icons, this allowed a reasonable compromise to see most
of those desired without horizontal scrolling or other inconvenient techniques.
The text used a smaller font to allow the names to fit into a shorter line
space.

As someone who hates icons and learned to read English a long time ago, I much
prefer text controls. I'd love it if Libreoffice would consider providing
something similar to the old WordPerfect.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

In the past, when I saved a document and hadn't yet made additional
changes, the "save" button was grayed out. This let me know that I had
done the save and avoided doing so redundantly. With the most recent
versions (I have 5.1.5.2-3 for Fedora 24), that doesn't seem to be true
any more. Why not? Can this be fixed?

If it matters, I use text buttons, not icons.

Crude Macro to Remove Hidden Fields and Convert Fields to Text

No better in 5.1.4.2

@Oliver: Is there a status on this? You seem to have perfectly identified the
problem and it would appear to be a simple and final fix. In the meantime, I
attach my crude macro (I gratefully acknowledge help from Andrew Pitonyak). It
isn't perfect by any means but might help others waiting so long on this bug.
For example, macro doesn't handle hidden fields inside tables.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101727] Print preview displays wrong page

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101727

Indeed, the document appears shifted in the page preview (I hope we can agree
that if it was showing content that was never in the document in the first
place, that would be a different problem).

The reason why I asked for checking earlier pages in the same manner is that
there are a few issues here or there in BZ about wrong page size being fed to
printers (letter vs. A4 for example), and if it's a similar issue, just with
page preview this time, subsequent pages being shifted more and more would be a
clue.

You could try sanitizing the document as described in [1], and share that.
Replacing the images is a bit of a pain, maybe you could first check if the
issue is still reproducible after simply deleting them.

Note that checking if the bug occurs in the latest LibreOffice versions would
also be helpful (details ar in step 1. of [2]).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101741] New: Source Sans Pro regular weight font missing

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 101741
Summary: Source Sans Pro regular weight font missing
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eric.ri...@gmail.com

I had 5.2.0 installed via Chocolatey. I was having a separate issue with
LibreOffice crashing I think related to document recovery. So I uninstalled via
Chocolatey and then installed the "Still" release 5.1.5 direct from the
libreoffice.org site.

It seems like the crashing has fixed but I noticed a website looked differently
for me in Chrome. The CSS specified "Source Sans Pro". I must not have had that
installed before so it was probably rendering the next fallback font. But now,
after the LibreOffice 5.1.5 install, it was rendering with "Source Sans Pro
ExtraLight" because I didn't have the regular weight version installed. I
downloaded and installed the font manually to get the regular version and now
it looks fine.

I'm on Windows 10 with the Anniversary update.

Can you please explain this in more detail? Are you claiming that users should
repeat the attempted style change a second time to make it function as
advertised. If so, my multiple repeated tests prove your claim to be untrue.

A facility that has worked since OOo 1.0 which remains a REGRESSION in LO
RELEASE CANDIDATE 2 of Version 5.2.1 cannot be considered "Trivial".

I have resisted the temptation to set the "Importance" level of this regression
to "High" and restored it to "Normal".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101732] Syntax error when using column alias on postgres database

As far as I understand, the settings in bug 81213#c4 applies to the "as" before
table aliases, such as

select * from TableName TableAlias
vs.
select * from TableName as TableAlias

It's a commonly known problem that different DBMS require different handling of
"AS" before table aliases. The related changes also suggest that it applies to
table aliases only.

Nothing the less I tried the setting. It did not fix the problem.

This bug here applies to the "as" before column aliases, such as

select ColumnName ColumnAlias from TableName
vs.
select ColumnName as ColumnAlias from TableName

Sofar I'm not aware of any DBMS that cannot handle the "AS" before a
ColumnAlias. On the other hand it seems reasonable to strip the syntax, where
possible. Unfortunately here it causes problems.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101361] Cursor keys move cursor to the opposite direction in RTL text

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101361

Confirmed regression LO5.2.0.4 on Mint 17.3 Mate.

Note that 5.2 tooltip for "Logical" cursor control describes the observed
cursor behavior for logical movement. However, this movement is different from
previous LO versions for logical, which was paragraph directionality dependent
(and rightfully so). The new tooltip for Logical described LTR logical
behavior, and misses the RTL logical behavior.

This is independent of "Visual", which again has a tooltip that describes the
LTR visual behavior, but not the RTL visual behavior.

Changing CTL Cursor Control between Logical and Visual works fine (you must
have mixed LTR and RTL characters in the same sentence to see that), however,
the bug of not switching the roles of the left and right arrows for RTL
paragraphs (in both Logical and Visual modes) indeed exists and is a regression
from previous LO versions.

When the WRITER_DOCSERVICE is active, i.e. Writer module is open and has focus,

Otherwise, the Text Import filter dialog will open for import into Calc by

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89683] 'csv' Files are Opened as Text Documents if Writer is the Active Window

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

V Stuart Foote changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|NEW |RESOLVED
 CC||momonas...@gmail.com
 Resolution|--- |INVALID

As can be seen in the code pointer comment 1 (have been some minor changes for
support of compressed csv since--so
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/filter/source/textfilterdetect/filterdetect.cxx#175
)

// Decide which filter to use based on the document service first,
// then on extension if that's not available.

Document service will be WRITER_DOCSERVICE if Writer is open with focus.
CALC_DOCSERVICE if Calc is open--where the Text Import filter dialog will
assert for files with extensions: csv, tsv, tab, xls, csv.gz

A comma, tab, semicolon, space or user defined delimiter text file will open by
default into Calc -- that was done for bug 68903

Meaning if the StartCenter is present, the Open button opening a comma
separated (.CSV/.XLS/.CSV.GZ) or tab separated (.TSV/.TAB/.XLS) labeled file
(semicolon, space or user selected dlimiters would need one of the established
extensions) will all present the "Text Import" filter dialog and the delimited
fields will be opened into the Calc module.

If Draw, Impress, or Math module is active and has focus the File -> Open
.uno:Open action will call the "Text Import" filter dialog for import into a
Calc session based on file extension.

If the File -> Open comes when an active Calc module has focus--the
CALC_DOCSERVICE is active and the CSV/TSV/TAB/XLS delimited file will call the
"Text Import" filter dialog and be parsed into a Calc sheet.

Only if the File -> Open comes when an active Writer module has focus--and the
WRITER_DOCSERVICE is active and the CSV/TSV/TAB/XLS/CSV.GZ delimited file will
all open as text in Writer.

This behavior is consistent and not unexpected. No reason to change.

I upgraded to 5.1.4 and although the "verifying LibreOffice" process appeared
to complete while trying to open the new version, it never actually opened
LibreOffice. I've now tried multiple other versions including older versions
(4.4.6, 5.0.6, 5.2.0) and NONE of them are opening. This is a huge issue, as I
am now unable to work today without a working word processing program.

I have a Mac Air with OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. I have been a user since
LibreOffice v 4.4.6. I've restarted since downloading and this does not
resolve the issue. I desperately need this program for work.

Please advise as soon as possible.

I tracked down this issue (before seeing this bug report) and it seems
Draw/Impress set text alignment to right if the current locale is RTL one,
which makes no sense at all. This was introduced back in 2003 when a branch
with obscure name with merged and no explanation is provided.

I’m tempted to consider this just wishful thinking from whoever wrote this and
submit a patch that remove the corresponding lines.

I need to create a mask using dot and dash. When you enter 1234567, calc should
return: 123.456-7

It works perfectly in .xls format, but displays error in .xlsx format.

The mask has this format: 000"."000"-"0

When you open the .xlsx file containing the above format, the numbers are as
follows: 1234567,000-0

After some testing, I found that the problem is caused by point. Any other
character used as a separator does not issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101737] New: .doc filter bug : wrong table/forms import and crash

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101737

Bug ID: 101737
Summary: .doc filter bug : wrong table/forms import and crash
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: filters and storage
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: yun...@dumaine.me

Hi,

I join a .doc that does'nt render corectly neither in LO 5.3 master nor in
LO5.2.
In addition, LO crashes after having loaded the doc (if I change the zoom level
for instance).

I attach also screen capture of MSWord and LO 5.3 to easily compare the
rendering results.

I hope that will help developpers to improve that great software !
Thanks.
Aurélien

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98999] Check for Updates does not work correctly

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98999

Check for updates is still not working properly. The current versions of today
are 5.1.5 and 5.2.0.

If I perform the check with version 5.1.4 I got the information, that LO is
up-to-date.

If I perform the check with version 5.0.6 I got the information, that version
5.1.4 is available. Also the download link leads to the download page of
version 5.1.4.

It seemed to me that there is a problem in the release process respective to
the update check.

Furthermore for me it's no clear how the function should work exactly. In bug
55347 I found a description, which is different to the description in comment
1. Particularly the procedure is not clear if a new feature release (fresh
version) has been published and if the still version is still current. To my
opinion in this case it's not possible to suggest for each user the right
version. Some like to update to the more sophisticated version (still) and
others like to update to a version with new features (fresh). See also bug
84122 and bug 93282.

I think the only way to get rid of this problem is to offer both updates so
that a user can decide. This has already been proposed in bug 97302. In order
to help users in their decision target groups for the different versions can be
displayed. E.g.:

Versions X.Y.0 - X.Y.2: Experienced LibreOffice users, which like to use new
features. Innovative user who are willing to report bugs to the Document
Foundation.
Versions X.Y.3 - X.Y.5: Basically suitable for all users. Users which set a
great value upon stability should use versions X.Y.6 or X.Y.7.
Versions X.Y.6 - X.Y.7: For all users suitable. Particulary for users which set
a great value upon stability and do not need the most recent features.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101736] New: standard keyboard shortcut to increase / decrease indent on macOS (macOS only)

2016-08-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

indent on macOS (macOS only)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master

Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Reporter: libreoff...@openmailbox.org

The keyboard shortcut used in default applications like mail.app is

increase indent: alt+cmd+6
decrease indent: alt+cmd+5

Expected: LO should support those two shortcuts.

Currently: Nothing (or a different shortcut which I am not aware of).

When viewing a single page in print layout with zoom enough to fit 2 pages on
the screen, the page is positioned on the left, but should be centered, once
there is only one page.
When increased the zoom, it switchs to the center.
