[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103080] A new default set of bundled fonts
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103080 --- Comment #4 from Jean-Francois Nifenecker--- (In reply to Yousuf Philips (jay) from comment #0) > I've been researching our current bundled fonts and think its time to do > some cleanup. > > Step 1 - Removals > = > The current font bundle takes up 42.5 MB and 45% (19.2 MB) of it is taken up > by the Linux Biolinum G, Linux Libertine Display G, and Linux Libertine G > fonts and think they should be the first to go as they takes up way to much > space, they arent highly used fonts, and Khaled Hosney mentioned that "they > are unmaintained, and of limited value if we move to have OpenType features > everywhere." > The Linux * G fonts are the only ones that allow support for enhanced typographic management within documents. Using them in conjunction with the Typography toolbar extension (http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/typography-toolbar) contributes to make Writer a true DTP tool. This is why they are used by some people (myself included) as their template fonts. This means that removing them from LibO installs would, at best, force to add them afterward, and, at worse, would fail to show the qualities of Writer, typographically-wise. Hence, I strongly disagree with the removal of these fonts. For the time being, the mere fact they haven't been updated in a while doesn't make them rubbish, anyway. Another option would be to remove the fonts from the software installation, as proposed, and provide a separate font bundle to be downloaded at the very same place the software is available. Besides, I agree with the idea that the proposed cleanup should only be done after a missing font infobar is available so that users whose documents rely upon removed fonts be clearly aware of the changes and can take the appropriate measures. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98481 Flint O'Brienchanged: What|Removed |Added Version|5.1.0.2 rc |5.2.1.2 release --- Comment #5 from Flint O'Brien --- The model I have in my mind is that all values for all formulas are always correct. No exceptions. I don't understand why recalculate-on-load is an option (and off by default). I changed the preference to recalculate on file load and it does calculate correctly when the file is loaded and it properly calculates equations entered after the file is loaded. If I turn this option off (which is the default), the problem fields are not calculated correctly on load and adding new expressions are also not calculated correctly. As mentioned in the original bug report, this is for expressions referencing other sheets and expressions on the current sheet that reference cells on another sheet. Regarding the previous comment to just throw this bug out... Let met start with saying that I do appreciate all the work everyone is putting in on this project. I don't know why I have to provide this information since it's not necessary to recreate this bug. The bug exists using the default options of a clean install. I'm disheartened if you're not willing to fix bugs that have been thoroughly reported with a complete and minimal example. A spreadsheet program that you can't trust to do proper calculations 100% of the time is not very useful. The reason I reported the bug was to try to help the community for people who are unsuspecting and have no reason to turn on recalculate-on-load. With a large spreadsheet, it's not always obvious the numbers aren't being calculated correctly. I really trusted the values to be correct and was quite surprised to find this bug (and doubly surprised it hasn't been high priority to be fix). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

HeaderOddity-v2-1.png shows p20, which LO thinks is a Header Left page. (True, but its showing Header Right text and style) 2. Make no change and scrollback to p15. HeaderOddity-v2-2.png shows p15, which LO thinks is a Header Left page. (False, it's Header Right, but at least it's displaying Header Right text and style.) 3. Then I change p15 to be Header Right, and I take HeaderOddity-v2-3.png screenshot 4. Scroll back to p20, still thinks it's a Header Right page: take HeaderOddity-v2-4.png 5. Change Header Style to Header Left - apart from the style setting change, no real difference. HeaderOddity-v2-5.png 6. Delete all text in the header on p20, and correct the text for a left page: insert page number, type author name. HeaderOddity-v2-6.png 7. Scroll back to p15: see that the text has changed to the new text, and the style is once again Header Left: HeaderOddity-v2-7.png 8. Scroll forward a page: see that it hasn't affected that page: HeaderOddity-v2-8.png. 9. And scroll forward to the next page, and see it hasn't changed that, either: HeaderOddity-v2-9.png 10. Actually having the obfuscated text in the headers really helps for this: the strangely-linked pages are revealed. Scrolling further forwards, I see p29 is also affected, which nicely matches the list of page numbers I mentioned a bit earlier. I've zipped these all up (including the obfuscated file after making that small change described in this process: "WildThing-CS-4x7obfus-after.odt"). Oh, and please replace the previous file "WildThing-CS-4x7obfus.odt" (the "before" file) with the one in this zip file: somehow, I gave you the unobfuscated text, which Amazon would not be happy with! So it is impossible for me to generate a correct text. If I go to p20, when it's in error (shows the text that should appear for a /right/ page, though says it's header style is Header Left), if I just double click on Header Left in the Styles and Formatting menu, its italicisation changes to Regular (which is the style for a left page). And if I make no other corrections to it, and scroll back to p15, the header text has changed to style Header Left too (even though it's a right page), and the italicisation is that of a left page, though its text hasn't changed. And if I don't change the header style to the correct style for that page (Header Left for left pages, or Header Right for right), and change the text anyway, then it changes the header text of the mystically-linked pages to use that header text and style. It's like a subset of the pages are linked together and are being forced to be treated all as the same left or right kinds of pages, regardless of the true left or right nature of those pages. So if I change any of the mysteriously-linked pages, they all change. It's sounding to me like the documents have become corrupted, if so, and I'm at a loss as to what I might do to fix them. Save it as a Word file (.docx? .xml?), or save it as unified office type (.uot), or flat XML odt format (.fodt?)? Any suggestions? I will attach an obfuscated copy of my 1st novel, that I've been describing in this comment. The file is WildThing-CS-4x7obfus.odt. The pages I noted as having errors in the headers are: 15, 289, 67, 79, 87, 117, 119, 123, 133, 143, 159, 183, 187, 195, 219, 245, 251, 259, 261, 271, 313,323, 355, 359. All odd numbers, come to think of it. But when I started correcting them, I found that just in doing the first couple, pages 20 and 34 had newly broken; so I think there are both odd and even pages "mysteriously linked", but it's tricky to find out which pages they are. Certainly, pages 15 and 20 are linked in this mysterious way. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102183] Libre Office Writer shows multiple pages of document simultaneously
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102183 imnotrichchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|RESOLVED|UNCONFIRMED Resolution|NOTABUG |--- --- Comment #2 from imnotrich --- As I said, there is no way to limit Libre Office to displaying one page of an *.odt at a time. Let me clarify. You can change via menu View - Zoom - and change to single page for the present document only. The change is not persistent. If you open another document, or close Libre Office then open another document later Libre Office defaults back to the multiple pages. The default setting "automatic" shows multiple pages and there is no way to disable it permanently that I can find through the menus. If this is intentional and not a bug, it's poor design. I have two eyes and wear trifocals. Bobbing my head back and forth and up and down all day long makes for a very uncomfortable experience. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101110] Menu entry to execute commands by name
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101110 --- Comment #6 from Mike Kaganski--- And btw, with notebookbar coming (that often criticized for wasting vertical space, and is targeted to users that tend not to use menu), and already implemented single toolbar (that clearly seeks to maximize screen real estate), the need to hide menu bar will be greater. It would be possible to continue being productive without menu bar in LO, if such a feature is implemented. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101110] Menu entry to execute commands by name
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101110 --- Comment #5 from Mike Kaganski--- (In reply to Jean-Francois Nifenecker from comment #4) > IMO, this a seldom wanted option. I suppose it's incorrect estimation. 1. This kind of UI is very common currently. You may see it in Unity Dash, Windows Start, Blender etc. Also, I see a wish for this rather frequently in forums (e.g. here: http://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/40163/find-commands-by-name , here in Russian: https://www.linux.org.ru/forum/talks/12695695/page1?lastmod=1467486174771#comment-12705845) > Hence, I guess the wanted functionality could be added through an extension > rather than a native development. I'm afraid it's impossible without "native development", because otherwise it won't be able to use additional information. I mean, that it must respond to "contextual" meaning (bring commands that don't have typed words in names, but that may do what user wants, e.g. by having a dictionary of "tags" attached to each command), etc. Supporting external DB of such information is unfeasible, because it would require from maintainer to do it multilingually, track each new/modified command, etc. Not every LO feature has its uno command: e.g., many entries inside Format Character dialog. I'm afraid, that if users will search for "Blinking", they won't find requested commands using your suggested approach, while in best case they would be presented the option to open that Format Character dialog. Many uno commands would likely come unlocalized; that would be a showstopper for this feature. The feature should also provide relevant help entries (online/offline, depending on whether help is installed locally). I suppose that the feature is only possible by dradual development. First, create infrastructure for it, e.g. means for feature developers to define the "tags" for their commands. Implement the feature to be user-visible, and then gradually fill required data to existing commands, hopefully with a bunch of easy hacks. Include this into localization process, etc. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103078] Left header and right header inconsistent and vary thru doc, and mismatch UI
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103078 --- Comment #5 from Luke Kendall--- I just received the eproofs for my 1st book in A-format size, and found that although I had carefully gone through that, correcting this same issue, it still had 25 pages with the headers broken as I've described here. So I went through it, manually find each case and fixing it up: that took an hour. Then I rechecked - and now, new pages had their headers broken. In each case, it seems that a page header style suddenly changes to the wrong left/right sense. So this time I noted down each page number that head the error, and started correcting again - to see if the same page numbers keep getting the error. I corrected the 1st two (pages 15 and 29, which it thought were left hand pages, since the paragraph style had changed to Header Left; so I changed the style to Header Right and set the correct header text). Then I scanned back to see if any pages had changed: yes, p34 was now wrong: it thought it was now a Header Right page; so I changed it to Header Left and correct the text, and rescanned - and now page 20 is broken, it thinks it's a Header Right style. Frankly, Ican't find a way to manually correct it: it's like a very unpleasant game of "whack-a-mole": any correction to one header seems to have a chance of creating errors on other pages, and I can only find them by manually scrolling and looking. In a 386 page novel, it's a lot of work, and basically, I seem to be stuck: I can find no way to get a correct text. So this edition of my novel is now stalled, as I can't create a correct PDF file because I can't get correct text in LO. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103098 Bug ID: 103098 Summary: Reproducible 100% CPU Writer hang after misbehaving copy + paste Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.1.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: octa...@alvarezp.org Description: Writer goes hangs with high CPU and the only way to proceed is to kill it after the following steps. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Copy all content from bug-content.odt: - Open bug-content.odt, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C. 2. Open bug-new-template.odt. 3. Open the Styles and Formatting side pane. - F11 4. Paste it at the end of bug-new-template.odt: - Ctrl+End, Ctrl+V. Observe how the original A to D content is now 1 to 4 on both questions. This is probably a bug. However it is not the bug I am reporting. 5. Select the first set of possible answers, the ones that include 100, 200, 300 and 400 as options. Select them from the start of "100" to the end of "400". 6. Double click on style "Pregunta". Actual Results: Writer goes hangs with high CPU and the only way to proceed is to kill it. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103080] A new default set of bundled fonts
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103080 Yousuf Philips (jay)changed: What|Removed |Added Blocks||102985 --- Comment #3 from Yousuf Philips (jay) --- (In reply to Michael Stahl from comment #2) > i see "DejaVu Sans Condensed" being used in the default style in > OOo 3.3 Writer - that means there are going to be a lot of > existing documents referencing it, so i don't think we can remove it. As DejaVu comes preinstalled on linux distros and Times New Roman was used in the default style in OOo 3.3 for windows, i dont see a problem for its removal. We've been defaulting to use Times New Roman or Liberation Serif since LO conception, so 6 years of documents wont have any such problems and so do newly created documents. Ultimately users who still use the font will have it installed on their systems and if they dont, they will be able to install it even if we dont install it for them. Hopefully if we can get a missing fonts infobar created (bug 78186), we can assist users who are missing any font used in the creation of a document.
