[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103402] New: LO Find & Replace panels go berserk
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103402 Bug ID: 103402 Summary: LO Find & Replace panels go berserk Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.4.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au On three occasions now over the last few days, I've had LO's Find and Replace panels "go berserk". On each occasion I had 4 documents open: 3 in which I was making changes, with the F panel open to find the right part of the (matching) documents. The documents are long - about 135k words - so a Save takes about 10 seconds. The 4th document was a file in which I was recording the changes I was making. So, what happens is that I finish making each change in all three documents, then click quickly in each and type Ctrl-S to kick off the save. Then click back over to the 4th, changelist file, clicking to the end of the document and begin typing the change note (sight unseen, as LO is basically too busy to display what I'm doing). As soon as the 3rd Save completes, focus begins flashing between the F panel of each of the 3 docs as fast as it can: LO basically locks up while doing this. I tried clicking very fast and frequently on the X (close) icon of one of these flashing F panels, for about 30 seconds (maybe 150 mouse clicks?), without effect. I then started doing the sane thing to try to close one of the 3 docs I'd just edited. After about 10 seconds (maybe 50 clicks?), the document closed, and the F panel flashing stopped. Just thought I'd report it. At least it's a consequence of tying up the UI in Saves, so I don't lose anything when I succeed in closing a doc. Oh, I should also add that the completion of a Save seems to unexpectedly change focus, too. My least favourite behaviour of LO is that if you have scrolled to a new place in a document (which may have taken you minutes to find the location, and position the page appropriately) *without* clicking into the text in the visible portion of the window to set the cursor there, then if you do a Save, or if an auto-save kicks in, LO reverts the focus back to the current insertion point, wiping out all your careful positioning work. I mention that in this bug report because I believe it might be a contributing factor in the weird cycling of focus. I think this because on the 2nd occasion, only the first letter of the text (which I had typed ahead during the Save operations) went into the target document that I had clicked into (the changelist file): the remaining 20 characters appeared in one of the three files I had been making the changes in, since it seemed to have stolen focus when the Saves finished (and after I had managed to close one of the flashing F windows). I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 with Classic mode, Compiz. I have what I think is a very normal window policy configured: "click to focus". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

In Draw you can size the page larger than final desired print size, set margin to zero. You can layout trim marks, and registration marks on a Master page from main menu's View -> Master mode. Also trivial to allow for bleed and compose slugs outside the trim marks. You have full control to configure the page, margin and spacing to object while laying out the document. Actual CMYK would not be controlled from within LibreOffice--rather use a "print to file" format supporting CMYK. Or a print driver capable of splitting out the CMYK. It is not as convenient as some dedicated DTP programs, and there is no ability to easily toggle printer markup. But kind of believe that doing more than that is going to be beyond scope of project. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103400] New: EDITING: Find & Replace, using Format, makes F unreliable
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103400 Bug ID: 103400 Summary: EDITING: Find & Replace, using Format, makes F unreliable Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.4.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au Created attachment 128143 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=128143=edit Obfuscated .odt files produced from the MS files, that reproduce what I have described above I have a novel; I decided to make sure every mention of the thing called "it" in italics, should be called "It" in italics (upper-case "I"). I have 3 versions of the MS: one for the 4"x7" print edition, one for the 5"x8" edition, and one for the Kindle edition. I opened all three files. I performed the Fine & Replace on the 4x7 file with no problem: I selected Whole Words only, typed in "it" (no quotes) in the search field, "It" in the replacement field, clicked on Format and left the font unselected but chose style Italic. I carefully made about 15 replacements (about 4 possible replacements would have been wrong in the context). F worked as expected, finding only "it" in italic as a whole word. I then moved to the 5x8 edition MS. In the dialogue, most F fields were already set from editing the 4x7 file; but I had to type "It" into the replacement field. I then started searching. But now, F did not work correctly: it would only find regular-format "it" words. I watched on one page, where "it" was in italic, and another "it" appeared a little below. It would only find the 2nd, not the first. but after that, it would only find regular-format "it", and refused to find italic-format "it". I notice that under the Search field, the words "Italic, normal," appear, for the file where F is finding the wrong-format text. In the file where it is working, the text is displayed without a trailing comma: "Italic, normal". In the Kindle edition (see file WT-CS-KDP.odt), it found a few italic "it"s, then started finding only regular "it"s. F seems completely unreliable: I just tried it, and it found in succession about a dozen italic "it"s, bypassing regular-"it"s as it should, then started finding regular-"it"s and ignoring italic "it"s. Basically at random. The function simply isn't working reliably. I cannot supply you with the original source documents, however, as Amazon's T would not permit me to do that. So I have obfuscated the files, but leaving the letters "i" and "t" and untouched, and saved those files and attached them; they do evidence the bug, for me. This bug may relate to 95633, 99038, 31491, or 95927, but none of them really sound the same as this, to me. LO is becoming increasingly frustrating to me, as an author. This is the 3rd bug which is preventing me from making a specific edit to my LO MS to correct an edition. In this case, at least I have a workaround: I can Undo each change in the file for which F worked, carefully note where that was, find the same place in the other editions, and manually make the correction. For the others (103078 and 62603), they're show stoppers. It's very disheartening. [Later...] Having just done the manual fix-ups, I'll also note that Undoing to find them all worked well (there were actually 13 occurrences). But that there is also a bug in Redo, as after each redo, the text was converted from italic to regular. Fortunately, I saved a copy of the file before I started Undoing, so this is not a major calamity. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90518] EDITING: Cannot delete tables
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90518 --- Comment #6 from jebsoluti...@gmail.com --- Reproducible with Libreoffice 4.3.0 alpha 1 Windows 10 64 bit Just a couple of weird related notes. When you attempt to delete the table it does delete all the text inside the table. But the table itself is still there. At this point if you go to the Edit menu it will incorrectly have an option "Undo delete table". If you select this it will restore the text in the table. Work around: Insert a rectangle. Shift-click the rectangle and the table to select both of them. Hit the delete key. Both are deleted. No idea why this works, but just deleting the table doesn't. Weird #2 Select the whole table. Control-C to copy it to the clip board. Create a new slide. Control-v will paste in the new table. But...if you press control-X to your new table what happens? The table is not deleted. Sometimes the table vanishes from the mini-preview of the slide on the left! Even though it's still actually on the slide (?) At this point if you go to the Edit menu at the top you may see "Undo insert object" -- note that it says object and not table. If you select this it may delete the table. This part is not consistent. Please try to use *both* from MariaDB, no mixing. Good point. I found that MariaDB doesn't offer a ODBC setup driver. I apologize for neglecting to mention that LO Base is also crashing when trying to connect with MDBTools ODBC driver. I didn't focus on this because I thought it might just make things too complicated and perhaps we should just deal with one crash at a time. Note that MDBTools uses the exact same library (one library) as both the driver and setup library. Later today I hope to take an ODBC call trace of the similar MDBTools crash, and compare it with the MariaDB ODBC call trace crash. Anyway this setup library you mention appears to only be used by the unixODBC tools to setup/configure odbc.ini and odbcinst.ini. (But I'm not 100% sure.) In other words, if it's missing I can't use those tools, (the gui ODBC configuration tools, or odbcinst). But that notwithstanding isql works when the setup library is missing. I wasn't sure what to do when I found the setup library missing but decided a reasonable idea was to use the mysql one, and it worked. So I'm not 100% sure, but I think the setup libaray only helps setup the configuration parameters in these two confiburation files (/etc/odbc.ini and /etc/odbcinst.ini). I think that would also make sense because ALL of the setup libraries (except for MDTTools) are named something like: xS.lo. (With a "S"). > The backtrace would be far more useful if you installed the libreoffice-dbg > package (same version as your installed LibreOffice), or used a debug > version of libreoffice, e.g. from one of the directories that ends with > "-dbg" at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/ (since these are > builds of master / alpha versions, exercice care and caution). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103347] 'Start slideshow from currend slide' not working as expected
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103347 --- Comment #4 from jebsoluti...@gmail.com --- The way libreoffice handles duplicate slide *names* has bugs. In attachment 128104 all the slides are named something like "Linearis optimaizalas". You can confirm this by right-clicking on any slide in the slide sorter on the left and select "rename slide". I think under the hood it is really starting the slideshow from the first slide with the same *slide name* as the currently selected slide name. i.e. it's not saying "start on slide 4" it's saying start on slide "Linearis optimaizalas". Since all the slides have the same name, the first slide that matches that name is always slide #1. I notice that newer versions of libreoffice prevent you from renaming a slide to the same name as an existing slide. It greys out the save button with no explanation to the user as to why you can't choose that name. Interestingly if I duplicate a slide (e.g. the 6th slide) it will give it a name "Slide 7". Fine...but if I try to rename one of the "Linearis optimaizalas" slides as "Slide 8" (even though there is no slide with this name) it prevents it as well. But...if I duplicate the "Side 7" slide...guess what, it creates the new slide name as "Slide 8". I am getting deja vu of past crashes. Often after duplicating a slide, doing basic edits, and then saving. Maybe a clever dev can check if this mis-handling of duplicate slide names has problems elsewhere in the code. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 67145] CRASH: ODBC - Firebird: Attempting to edit table definition causes abort
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67145 --- Comment #29 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de --- Have tried this one again with version 2.0.4.155 64bit from Firebird ODBC. It's a little bit tricky to get it work with LO, but the buggy behavior is the same. I could create a table through Tools → SQL. I could input all data through Tools → SQL. Try this with Firebird - ODBC: CREATE TABLE "Test" ("ID" INT PRIMARY KEY, "Text" VARCHAR(50)); INSERT INTO "Test" ("ID","Text") VALUES (1,'Nobody'); If I try to create a table through GUI, LO crashes immediately. If I try to input new values, any value for "ID" seems to be wrong. There seems to be inserted NULL instead of an Integer. I could only use Tools → SQL for input new values for "ID". [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86752] Prevent the text language from being impacted by the keyboard settings
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86752 --- Comment #5 from Michael Bauer--- Yes it's still doing it. I currently have the German hardware keyboard, Scottish Gaelic (GLA) and British English installed as keyboard layouts in Windows. Under GLA, it mostly seems to behave i.e. I have been able to mark a selection as Gaelic, German or French and LO stick with that. When I switch to the EN-UK layout in Windows, no matter what I set the language of the selected to, if I type another word then LO forces the language of the section to English. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
