[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104052] Add LibreColour HLC palette
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104052 --- Comment #37 from Christoph Schäfer--- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #32) > (In reply to Commit Notification from comment #30) > > Tor Lillqvist committed a patch related to this issue. > > I'm definitely against this hackish solution. When we start to add parts of > our variable artwork into the code we cannot guarantee the expected > flexibility. The user will never understand why changing palettes is > possible except the LibreColors. Heiko, I can't see what's wrong with having two standard palettes hard-wired into LibreOffice: one reasonably-sized sRG palette and CIE-HLC. That way, they can be assured to have two standard palettes available that cannot be changed, even by coincidence, which helps to secure colour communication across computers, platforms and workflows. In cross-media workflows that's what you want, and LibreOffice is by far the best office suite in these workflows. I presented LibreOffice plus the HLC palette and the related colour fan to some influential people of Switzerland's publishing scene as a follow-up to a presentation on cross-media publishing two weeks ago. The feedback was very positive, and I've already been notified that some Swiss publishing companies decided to throw out OO.o after these two presentations, or installed LO in addition to MS Office. Safe colour communication is very important here! fF and com2publish will also produce videos to promote LibreOffice as the ideal office suite in cross-media workflows. Having CIE-HLC + an sRGB palette hard-wired into the programme makes it even easier to convince people to switch! The only required addition is an update to the help files. I'd volunteer to write it in English and German. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104052] Add LibreColour HLC palette
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104052 --- Comment #36 from Christoph Schäfer--- (In reply to Khaled Hosny from comment #31) > (In reply to Christoph Schäfer from comment #16) > > Second, you can modify the palette. Hi Khaled, The situation with colours is a bit different from code, so it's not the same licensing issue as TeX. Please let me explain why this palette exists and how it came into being. The most widely used colour system out there is Pantone (actually serveral "systems"). There are others, and all of them are proprietary. The problems with Pantone are countless, and in my opinion it's one of the worst colour reference producers in the market. First of all, the licensing conditions are draconian. You aren't even allowed to compare a Pantone colour to another colour! Second, Pantone colour references are *not* reliable. You can buy three seemingly identical references and get three slightly different colour representations. Third, Pantone has changed the numbering scheme over time and assigned new colours to existing codes, which can lead to confusion in colour communication. Fourth, you can't rely on digital Pantone colour libraries even if they are included in a product from the same vendor. For example, if you're a user of Adobe CC, the Pantone libaries in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign aren't identical. From a colour-related point of view Pantone colours aren't even a real colour system, just a random collection of colours. One of the goals of freieFarbe / freeColour is to provide a non-proprietary alternative to Pantone & Co. Since colour is a physical and physiological phenomenon, it can't be protected by copyrights or patents. Hence the idea to create a free colour reference based on CIE LAB. LAB is a colour model that comprises all colour visible to the human eye, and it's used for colour calculations by all professional graphics programmes, including GIMP, Inkscape or Scribus. If you look at the Pantone colour libraries shipped with products from Adobe, Corel or Quark, you'll find that the colours are all stored in LAB, even if the software displays something different. fF / fC created a colour fan using the LAB model for users of programmes that actually allow for working in LAB mode, e.g. Photoshop. This is useful if you want to find out how a display colour will look in print, but it's useless if you want to select a real-world colour and use it in a computer software. So we created another colour reference, using a more intuitive representation of LAB, namely HLC. HLC is to LAB what HSV is to RGB (roughly). It's *very* intuitive, and, having worked with Pantone, HKS and RAL colour references in the past, I never found it easier to find a particular colour on a printed fan than with HLC. The colour reference is (obviously) printed with CMYK colours on high quality coated paper. It's the maximum quality and colour correctness currently achievable with the four process colours. The original digital colour palette uses LAB values to enable precise colour conversion from LAB to various output targets, depending on the respective ICC profile. The RGB palettes for LibreOffice, GIMP et al. have been created using a standard sRGB profile, so what we have here is a subset of LAB, as well as a subset of sRGB, namely all colours that can be reproduced in CMYK (hence the "muted" colours). Unlike TeX, neither the RGB values nor the HLC numbers can be protected by copyrights nor any other rights -- it's just physics and numbers. The only reason we use a licence at all is that a systematic collection of colours like CIE-HLC that refers to a real-world colour fan can be, and we do use copyright and the specific CC-BY-ND licence to prevent users from damaging others. Let's assume someone removes one third of the colours and still distributes the palette under its name. So someone buys the colour fan, relying on the information that all colours on the fan are included in the digital version, but then won't find them. Who will be blamed? The non-profit organisation that wants to liberate colour! Back to Pantone -- better the devil you know etc. Or assume someone modifies the RGB values: Changing R:45 G:50 B: 35 to R:43 G:50 B:35 won't make much of a difference, but changing R

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104052] Add LibreColour HLC palette
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104052 --- Comment #35 from V Stuart Foote--- (In reply to Commit Notification from comment #30) > Tor Lillqvist committed a patch related to this issue. > It has been pushed to "master": @Tor, that was pretty cool, thanks! Unfortunately an issue with the packing of these color swatches into our swatch picker makes this CIE standard palette less useful than it could be. In CIELAB there are 36 Hues, and in HLC notation each hue can be represented as an 8 x 8 grid--with saturated colors assigned place holders. With our 12 column swatch grid in our color picker we loose a lot of the utility of HLC notation because our picker provides for no sense of the palette's layout. We loose the structure and the palette becomes just a bunch of swatches strung together to fill the columns. You can get a feel for it if you review the PDF of the color fan the CIELAB HLC [1]. Each of the 36 color Hue has its own chart, and the charts are relative to each other in sequence. Being able to physically match the fan swatch to a color choice from our swatch picker would be exceptional for folks needing process colors. Not sure exactly how this could be supported--but adding means to structure our palette views would be very helpful, either with a "hard coded" palette as you've provided for LibreColour's HLC, but in general. =-ref-= [1] http://dtpstudio.de/cielab/downloads/hlcfaecher.pdf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

" Save URLs relative to file system This option allows you to select the default for relative addressing of URLs in the file system and on the Internet. Relative addressing is only possible if the source document and the referenced document are both on the same drive. A relative address always starts from the directory in which the current document is located. In contrast, absolute addressing always starts from a root directory. The following table demonstrates the difference in syntax between relative and absolute referencing: Examples File system Internet relative ../images/img.jpg ../images/img.jpg absolute file:///c|/work/images/img.jpg http://myserver.com/work/images/img.jpg The Help tip always displays an absolute path. However, if a document is saved in HTML format, LibreOffice will enter a relative path if the appropriate check box is selected. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104095] Report wizard' s grouping function unable to handle duplicate column names
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104095 rob...@familiegrosskopf.de changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rob...@familiegrosskopf.de --- Comment #2 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de --- The wizard takes the code you have given him. Why should he know it will go better with another construction. It tries to work with your code and will sort it, if you wish to have groups. So there must be different names for the columns. The best you could do is to change the query to a view. There you could see columns with the same name doesn't work in the internal HSQLDB. Indeed it is wrong for the reportbuilder to create "naam1" and "naam2" instead. Has something to do with bug 62248? The reportbuilder tries to analyze the SQL-code. To prevent buggy behavior there it is better to create views for the report insted af queries. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104106] "Save As" icon disabled as soon as switching embedded doc within r/ o doc into edit mode
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104106 Maxim Monastirskychanged: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #1 from Maxim Monastirsky --- Yes, this corner case is *exactly* what the commit message is talking about - "Until a better solution is found, at least make sure that the button is disabled, instead of going into the normal save mode, which doesn't work." i.e. better to have a disabled button, than to have an enabled button that does nothing when clicking it (as it was in 5.1). I will explain: In general this is a "Save" button, not "Save as", and as such is supposed to follow the state of .uno:Save not of .uno:SaveAs. The problem was that .uno:Save is disabled for r/o docs, and if we follow it and disable the toolbar button, the dropdown part won't be accessible as well, although its items (save as, save to remote) might be useful for r/o docs too. But just leaving it always enabled isn't an option - because then clicking the main part of the button while in r/o doc will do nothing (it will try to execute the disabled .uno:Save). So an extra "Save as only" mode was added, where clicking the main part of the button also opens the dropdown, instead of executing .uno:Save. The problem is how to detect the r/o mode. The sfx2 impl. of XStorable::isReadonly returns the UI state, and so was the MediaDescriptor the last time I checked. But .uno:Save doesn't work for "physically" read-only files, regardless of the UI state. Thus again - the button will be enabled, but clicking it will do nothing... I tried to fix it once with 747a0fdda2a7723c2f8a8a022b468bcf29c700e3 ("SaveToolbarController: Better support of readonly docs") but it created other regressions. So I decided to revert it, and instead just disable the button whenever .uno:Save is disabled - as a temporary fix, until something better is implemented. The solution probably should be to make what XStorable::isReadonly returns consistent with the state of .uno:Save. This can be achieved in 2 ways: 1. Make sfx2 impl. of XStorable::isReadonly track the file state rather than the UI state. This will also make it consistent with the IDL doc of XStorable (it wasn't possible to edit "physically" read-only files in OOo, so the way it's implemented wasn't an issue back then). The only problem is that I'm aware of other place in our codebase which depends on the current behavior, so we'll need to expose both somehow (e.g. additional UNO interface, state-only dispatch slot etc.). 2. Make .uno:Save always enabled - but in case of r/o document do actually a "save as". We already do that for the "Save changes to document before closing?" prompt (and also for .uno:Save for new documents, or for file types without an export filter). Any thoughts on what the preferred solution should be? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104116] New: Writer - forms: Can't use relative URLs for data source
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104116 Bug ID: 104116 Summary: Writer - forms: Can't use relative URLs for data source Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.3.2 rc Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: kos...@unplug.gr Description: I have created a directory that contains: 1. An .odb (LibreOffice Base) file, "Production.odb" containing tables and queries. 2. A subdirectory at the same directory, named "forms", that contains all the forms that I need. All the forms have the "Production.odb" file as "Data source" in form properties ("file:///home/kostas/path-to-directory/Production.odb"). The problem is that, dispite the checked box "Save URLs relative to file system" at Options => Load/Save => General, the URLs are not treated as relative ones. That is, when I move the whole directory or rename a part of the path to it, the form is loosing the connection to the .odb file. This bug prevent me from creating a database UI (a set of forms) that avoid using macros for opening forms using buttons. When I move the directory to my users' PCs I have to adjust the path to the Data Source in every form. The workaround for this is to register the database to LibreOffice and then use the registered name for Data Source. But this requires a setup in user's machine, not just a file copying. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an .odb file, create some tables/queries in it. 2. Create a form inside the .odb (in Base) that display some data. 3. Save the form as .odt file inside "forms" subdirectory. 4. Open it with Writer. Go to View => Toolbars => Form Design and check it. In the toolbar that appears, press the 2nd button ("Edit") and then the 5th button ("Form Navigator"). In Form Navigator, right click your form and go to Properties => Data => Data Source and select your .odb file. Save the .odt file and close both .odt and .odb files. 5. Reopen the form (.odt) just to see that the database data is listed normally. Then close it. 6. Move the whole directory that the database and forms reside, or rename a directory in its path. 7. Open the form (.odt) again. Actual Results: The database data is not appearing. If you try to edit the form, a warning appears that says "The connection to the data source could not be established". Expected Results: The database data is appearing normally. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104114] Textbox form fields show as Password fields when exported in PDF forms
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104114 --- Comment #5 from E. Gaudrain--- Now Acrobat is complaining: Cannot find or create the font 'LiberationSans'. Some characters may not display or print correctly. While checking it seems that Liberation Sans is not installed as a System or User font but stays only in LO's installation directory. So Acrobat cannot find it. I am guessing that for the rest of the text, the font is included in the document, but that partial font sets cannot be used for forms. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
