I've been noticing for the last year or two, that Writer seems to lose events
during an auto-save.  For my long documents, where an auto-save takes about 20
seconds to complete, if you typed something just before the auto-save triggers,
the user event is lost.

I've had all sorts of events lost: character input to the main body, or to a
comment; formatting changes (via Ctrl-I).  The most serious was a Ctrl-S to
save, which I assumed had happened because I saw the save progress bar.  But in
fact it was an auto-save, since I lost a little data when Writer crashed within
the next auto-save period.  I was particularly puzzled when I looked at the
file modification time on the file, since I remembered the save.

Today, I had just pulled up the menu and clicked on the button to insert a
blank page when auto-save triggered.  I waited, fully expecting to see the
blank page inserted as soon as the save completed.  Instead, nothing happened.

I'm going to see if I can make a document to give you as a test case.  It's a
little tricky to reproduce, as you have to wait for an autosave and then type
or do something an instant before the auto-save triggers.  Otherwise the event
goes through to Writer and is of course correctly consumed and handled.

At least you'll have this report, however.

Document showing font problems after replacing paragraph styles

I should add that I am able to reproduce the bug using my current version of
Writer, 5.2.5.1, which I used to prepare the attached new example documents.

Note that the previous attachment did not include the sample document that
included the file after finishing all the steps of my original report.

This attachment includes the file
Bug99014-obfusc-PostPaste,ParaStyleReplace.odt which shows the original bug
mentioned (I'm worried that the errors pointed out in my previous attachment
are a separate bug).

Anyway, after following all the steps noted in that comment, continue as
follows:

10) Open Find & Replace; Under Other Options select Paragraph Styles
11) For Find, choose Text Body
12) For Replace, select CSP Chapter Body Text
13) Click Replace All

Look for places where Times New Roman appears.
E.g. p7 (15) last paragraphs starts in EB Garamond 12 and then changes partway
through into Times New Roman 14.

Also:

14) Open Find & Replace, unselect Paragraph Styles
15) Click on Format 
16) Choose Family Times New Roman
17) Choose Size 10.5 
18) Click OK - Note that the panel incorrectly says it will search for Times
New Roman, 11pt
19) Set cursor on 1st line of 1st para on p1
20) Click Find Next - note that it selects a block of 14pt Times New Roman on
p66 (74) for some reason, which occurs after a long run of other Times New
Roman 14pt text.

Apologies for my long delay.  Here is the template file, an obfuscated original
version of the document, and the result of pasting the main body from the
original into the template.

An example error occurs at the beginning of Chapter 4, where the first two
paragraphs have been changed to the wrong font.  (Far more than 99% of the
original document correctly preserves the font of the Text Body paragraphs
(Times New Roman); many of the paragraphs that are selected and marked with  a
comment get the wrong font (Calibri).)

A longer example error occurs in the Prologue, where the 1st 12 pages have been
changed to Calibri, and the text changes back to Times New Roman part-way
through the 2nd paragraph on p13 (21).

So the steps to reproduce are:

1) Open Bug99014-orig-obfusc.odt (original)
2) Open Bug99014-template.odt (template)
3) Position cursor at start of 1st line of 1st Text Body paragraph on p2 (8) of
original
4) Select from there to the end of the doc
5) Copy
6) Position cursor at start of 1st line of 1st CSP Chapter Body paragraph on p1
(9) of template
7) Select from there to the end of the doc
8) Paste
9) Save file as (e.g.) Bug99014-obfusc-PostPaste.odt

Note that on p37 (43) of original, the 1st two paragraphs of Chapter 4 are in
Times New Roman, like all the others.  Compare to p86 (94) of the copied doc,
and note that the 1st two paragraphs have had the font changed to Calibri.

Both methods should:
- show the existing color of the cell(s) if they have the same existing color
- show all possible colors without using a drop down list

I happens also on LibreOffice 5.2.5.1.
I have Libreoffice in English but I need to show some date cells in Italian: I
select the cell format as Italian, the format GG   HH:mm, save as
xlsx, close Calc, reopen with Libreoffice Calc. The language is back to
English, if I re-open the cell format and change again the language I have to
re-enter from scratch the format too.
If I save as ods the language format is preserved.

I can't reproduce it in 5.3.0.3. This might related to my commit
611354a1c2e8281a80a1c3f5076a6c4593a4fe10, so I set this to WORKSFORME.

Can you provide the orignal document, or a similar one, where we can see the
issue?
Did you try to restart in Safe Mode? This allows to start LO like we had a new
profile and to know the possible changes.

1. New Calc, put cursor in cell B2, then View -> Freeze Rows/Columns.
2. Add a new sheet2, in sheet2.A1 type in "=", click sheet1, click B2, hit
enter.

--> Calc freezes.

This is awesome it works. Yes the bug is solved.

But I have two questions:

1. the default icon size for "my" notebookbar_groups.ui file should be Large
Toolbar, but I'd like to respect the user settings in Tools > Options how I
have to define the icon in the .ui file, cause ordinary I'll say use cmd/lc_xxx
file.

2. Is there a GOOD reason why there are 3 settings for the icon size. From my
point of view one option should be enough Icon size (Small, Large, Extra
Large).

it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.

Document with single image

I created an ODT file with a single JPG image based on the description from bug
105954 (see attached). Exporting the document to PDF with results in an empty
page.

Settings:
- JPEG compression, 90%
- Reduce image resolution, 300 DPI

This is a regression from the commit referenced below. Adding Cc: to Miklos
Vajna, please take a look.

Hi all,

Did you try to uncheck "Use hardware acceleration", "Use OpenGL for all
rendering"
into  Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View: Graphics Output 
and restart LO. 
Does this change the vertical displaying of the Y axis Title?
Perhaps have you found something else?
Is it an issue which happens each time?

Sample PDF file for testing

In this sample PDF file, all musical symbols use an embedded font. 
If you open it with PDF viewers like Adobe Reader etc., everything is all
right. 
If you import it as graphic into a LibO Document, those characters don't show
up.

extra_spacing at top

When clicked on menu bar, a list pops out. If the items of list are good enough
to get viewed on screen the list starts from just below the menu bar, but if it
has large enough number of items in the list that can't be some without
scrolling, an extra spacing is given at the top of the list. This looks very
odd and feels like a bug since it isn't consistent when scrolling over
different options on menu bar. It would be good to fix the issue and let the UI
team decide if this has to be included in the coming release.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Writer
2. Click on Insert

Actual Results:  
Dropdown list with spacing at the top.

Expected Results:
No spacing should be shown.

Description:
When importing graphics in PDF format, embedded fonts are not recognized. The
corresponding characters do not show up at all. 
PDF viewers like Acrobat Reader don't suffer the same problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
In any LibO document type, import a PDF graphic file that contains embedded
fonts. 

Actual Results:  
see above... characters from embedded fonts are invisible.

Expected Results:
It would be great if imported PDF graphics could display and print characters
from embedded fonts.

You can't. "Automatic" is currently hardcoded as small.

The actual appearance of controls should be defined by the theme. On Windows
the dropdown controls are smaller than buttons, except your font size is
different from the default. And with Breeze on Linux the dropdowns have the
same height as buttons. IIRC it's also true for gtk3. 

The 5.1.4.2 UI looks correct to me, 5.3 is different for font color vs.
"Betonungszeichen" (no idea how to enable this control).

 - global option in Tools > Options > Impress .. General
 - possibility to set the function in the master pages

Description:
With locales using comma as decimal separator, the numpad dot is interpreted as
such in document, but not in the interface.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In the menu Tools > Options > Linguistic parameters, select a user interface
and a locale setting using comma as decimal separator (such as french or
german).
2. Uncheck "decimal separator key: same as locale setting"
3. Go to a form using decimal number. (In Writer: Format > Page > Width ; In
Calc: Format > Row > Height)
4. Type a decimal value as "3.14", with a dot, and unfocus the field.

Actual Results:  
The dot is ignored. The field takes "314" or the max possible value.

Expected Results:
LO interprets the dot as a decimal separator.


Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I think the problem comes from the incomplete support of the locale by the OS.
However:
1. In the language option form, since user interface and locale setting are set
just above the choice of the decimal separator, the contract between the user
and LO is explicitly "We'll use the dot as the decimal separator in the
documents AND in the interface".
2. I tested this behavior with other softwares, as Gnome-calculator and
Inkscape and they interpret the dot as a decimal separator, as expected.
3. In Calc, for instance, this behavior constrains the user to make a
difference wether he is in a form or in a cell formula. It's really
anti-ergonomic.

Solution 1: (If the problem comes from the OS)
Override OS behavior and interpret numpad dot as a comma in the forms when it's
the expected behavior.

Solution 2:
In the language option form, change the "decimal separator key" checkbox to a
multiple choice, so that the user can explicitly choose to interpret the numpad
dot as a decimal separator.

Solution 3:
Add a warning: "this option doesn't work with every OS"

Solution 4:
Remove the checkbox on Linux.

By the time DiagramGraphicDataContext::onCreateContext() completes, we
know if there will be a DrawingML fallback for the SmartArt (called
ExtDrawing in the code) or not.

Warn about this case once at the end of the import when in interactive
mode. Headless mode silently ignores the warning as expected.

The function toggles bullets on and off in Writer, so it should work in Impress
independently from the master settings (and it does). But the function itself
has no shortcut, which I would understand as a bug.

Assign shift+F12 to numbering > bullets, and F12 to numbering > numbering by
default -> Easyhack.

Some users work with color names other with RGB (previous comments), HSL, hex,
binary or whatever. The color _picker_ is not the right control to show all
information for the color. Its purpose is to select an item (color) from the
collection (palette). Showing a name or any other property makes not much sense
and would require to keep the dialog open. Otherwise you pick blue and get a
label with 'blue' or '#FF' somewhere but the picker closes immediately.

Keep it simple -> WONTFIX

Description:
An SVG with text using  and  tags does not show when
inserted into a LibreOffice text document. This can be seen in the attached
example. The file hiddentext.svg contains uses two cases: with  and
related tags, and with  tag. The -based text does show, however,
the -based text does not show. Screenshots are included.

This was tested using the attached files in LibreOffice 5.2.5.1 (x64) on a
Windows 7 machine.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download the attached SVG.
2. Insert this SVG image into a LibreOffice Writer text document (or Draw,
etc.).
3. The text "Hidden text" will not be visible, but should be.


Actual Results:  
For the attached example, the document does not show "Hidden text".

Expected Results:
For the attached example, the document should show "Hidden text".

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Creating a new profile did the trick.  It's back to working as expected.

Something in the upgrade must have corrupted the profile.
