[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107257] New: Default to Use Absolute Reference to Sheet Name for Cell Reference to Another Sheet

2017-04-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107257

Bug ID: 107257
Summary: Default to Use Absolute Reference to Sheet Name for
Cell Reference to Another Sheet
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: suokunl...@126.com

Because of Bug 85538, cell referencing between different sheets is a nightmare
in LibreOffice - under the default behaviour, when you set the reference to
another sheet and then copy/move the sheet to a new file, the data gets messed
up as the default behaviour uses relative reference.

This enhancement request is to request libreoffice by default will use absolute
reference (i.e., add a "$" mark before the sheet name). This will retain the
data when move/copy sheets, and also retain the "feature" of relative reference
between sheets.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. New Calc, type 1 in A1 of Sheet1.
2. Add Sheet2, in Sheet2.A2 type in "=", then click Sheet1.A1.

Current behaviour:
formula shows as "=Sheet1.A1"

Expected behaviour:
formula shows as "=$Sheet1.A1" (i.e., $ is added before the name of sheet).

LO has executable URL commands found within the New submenu[1] like
'private:factory/swriter' and 'private:factory/scalc', but these commands dont
open in a new document window when run from within a Glade UI file, so newly
created UNO commands would need to do so. Ideally these UNO commands would be
named similar to the existing .uno:AddDirect, like .uno:AddSwriter or
.uno:AddWriter.

These newly created commands are intended to be used in the notebookbar, but
could be used elsewhere.

In a spreadsheet leave A1 empty, write something in A2, select both cells and
click Merge and Center Cells.

=> The usual dialog appears. (Some cells are not empty. etc.)

As long as only a single merged cell is not empty, there's only one meaningful
action: to move its content to the first cell (this is the first option in the
dialog). No need for the dialog in this case.

This change is somewhere between a bug and an enhancement.
The current behavior is there in 3.3.0 and 5.3.2.2 as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63319] EDITING: copy paste text from gedit editor

LeMoyne Castle changed:

   What|Removed |Added

Version|Inherited From OOo |3.6.5.2 release

Changed version on bug from inherited to version 3.6.5.2 of first report.

Testing with Ubuntu Xenial stock LibreOffice:
Version: 5.1.6.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial1
CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

I get a different but still incorrect behavior.
Can copy+paste between Geany and Gedit just fine.
Copy+paste from either Geany or Gedit into LibreOffice *loses* the last
character if the copied text ends with either a blank space or a newline.
Otherwise, when the selection ends in a non-white (alphabetic) character, the
copy+paste seems to work fine. So... it's not Gedit, etc. - it is LO.

1. I did not reproduce the originally reported buggy behavior - more like the
inverse action - lost a character instead of getting an extra.
2. I tested with an older version of LO than Dmitry in his most recent test.
3. Could not reproduce reported extra character problem appearing after
save+load. [the lost char didnt re-appear either]
4. No visible problem doing copy+paste FROM LibO.

Upshot: LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 is losing terminal whitespace char in the paste
from clipboard.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107254] New: Japanese hanging punctuation in a vertical text has too much space between it and the preceding character.

2017-04-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107254

Bug ID: 107254
Summary: Japanese hanging punctuation in a vertical text has
too much space between it and the preceding character.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eddy...@gmail.com

Created attachment 132673
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=132673=edit
ODF file with hanging punctuation (assuming Source Han Sans font is installed)

Hanging punctuation in a vertical document has about as much as a full-width
space between it and the character it precedes as opposed to how it is when the
text is horizontal.
ex:
Horizontal appearance:
けさ早く、
Vertical appearance (note there is no actual space character in the ODF file):
け
さ
早
く

、

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write or paste a Japanese text in a new LibreOffice document.
2. Assuming East Asian Language support is enabled, set the text to vertical
going from right to left through Page -> Format -> Text direction.
3. Under Page -> Paragraph -> Asian Typography (again requires East Asian
Language Support), check "Allow hanging punctuation"
(If no punctuation is hanging, fiddle with the margins so that at least one
period, comma, etc is hanging)

Expected behavior:
No noticeable space between hanging punctuation and preceding character

Actual behavior:
Noticeable gap that is the size of a full-width space between hanging
punctuation and preceding character

The attached document has a variable myVar, which was set by an ASK field and

Open the attached document.
Without any changes save it in odt-format.

The odt-Format has invalid parts:
The ASK field was translated to a element and a

But the attributes text:formula and office:string-value are not allowed for a

To get the same behavior as in Word neither office:string-value nor
text:formula is needed, but the content of the element is
the value of the variable. The ASK field does not show its content in Word. To
get this behavior, the attribute text:display="none" can be used.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107252] New: Japanese hanging punctuation missing in pdf export when text is set to vertical

2017-04-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107252

Bug ID: 107252
Summary: Japanese hanging punctuation missing in pdf export
when text is set to vertical
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eddy...@gmail.com

Created attachment 132671
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=132671=edit
ODF file with hanging punctuation (assuming Source Han Sans font is installed)

Hanging punctuation does not appear in the PDF exported by LibreOffice from a
document with vertical right-to-left Japanese text. Setting the set
horizontally does not cause this bug to occur.

4. Export document to PDF

Expected behavior:
PDF is a faithful reproduction of the ODF file.

Actual behavior:
Hanging punctuation is cut off from the document.

Note:
This behavior may be because hanging punctuation in a vertical document has
about as much as a full-width space between it and the character it precedes as
opposed to how it is when the text is horizontal.
ex:
Horizontal:
けさ早く、
Vertical (note there is no actual space character in the ODF file):
け
さ
早
く

、

Not a HarfBuzz issue. That is related to the new line spacing strategy which is
more faithful to the font and more spec complaint. If the font has narrow line
spacing then because it was built that way.

5.4.0 nightly fixes the Writer test case, giving the same rendering as in Word
(i.e., "11" aligns if kerning is disabled).

However, it does *not* fix the Calc test case. Kerning is still enabled by
default there, unlike in Excel.

Yes i always looked at it and assume it showed frame styles, but nope it didnt.
Beautiful how apparent bugs go unnoticed for years, glad that i decided to hide
the drop down in all related toolbars. :D

> So either the box should be disabled, or frame styles should be offered, in

If .uno:StyleApply can be extended to show non-paragraph styles (bug 88512),
then it likely can be extended to show contextually show the correct style
types. Devs will have to decide on it.

Correction/amendment to the above: the '11' kern pair in both fonts is defined
in both the 'kern' and 'GPOS' tables. (Based on the comments in bug 105922,
it's likely GPOS that's actually getting used here.)

For contrast, Microsoft Word gives the rendering that I would have expected:
"11" is shorter than the other lines when kerning is enabled, but the same
length as the other lines when kerning is disabled.

Additional note:

The font files for both Arial and Liberation Sans include a kern pair for '11'
in their 'kern' table.

This suggests that pairwise kerning is being applied regardless of whether "use
pair kerning" is enabled-- or, in the case of Calc, regardless of whether it's
even an available option.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107250] New: Kerning is unexpectedly tight for repeated "1" s in Liberation Sans and Arial

2017-04-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107250

Bug ID: 107250
Summary: Kerning is unexpectedly tight for repeated "1"s in
Liberation Sans and Arial
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: codema...@gmail.com

Description:
In LibreOffice on both Windows and Mac, some fonts such as Arial and Liberation
Sans have an odd rendering/kerning quirk. The digits in these fonts normally
align with one another, but when two "1"s appear next to each other, they are
kerned more tightly.

This does *not* appear to be related to the Pair Kerning option in Writer - the
same issue appears regardless of whether Pair Kerning is set. The same
rendering issue even appears in Calc, which makes columns of numbers look
awkwardly misaligned when some of them contain "11" as a substring.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In either Writer or Calc, enter the following numbers, one per line, setting
the font to either Liberation Sans or Arial: 123456, 121212, 212121, 11.

Actual Results:
The lines all appear to be the same length.

Expected Results:
The first three lines are of equal length, but the last line (11) is
noticeably narrower.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

I have same issue with overlapping text while editing data in cell,
specifically while entering long number. I've tried LO5.3 but it has exactly
the same issue. But original LO version 4.3.3-2+deb8u6 from Debian 8
distribution runs perfectly without any text overlapping.

SAL_SYNCHRONIZE=1 solves this issue for LO5.2/LO5.3 at the cost of flickering.

than the drop down button is also left to it.

>From the UI I think the left to the label drop down arrow has the benefit that
- everything is more align to each other (one button with and without drop down
would be on the same height)
- you can save vertical space

so if it's possible to change the implementation I'm for a change.

Well maybe it might be too much for all of them, but you are agreeing that
master slide would be good to have one. @Stuart, @Sophie, @Regina: What do you
guys think of having shortcuts for the various views, even if its just the most
important ones? Shortcut suggestions would also be helpful. :D

Done. Might be useful to have shortcuts for clone and delete slide as well. Was
thinking about shortcuts like Ctrl + plus, Ctrl + minus and Ctrl + multiply. :D

Presently the down arrow is its own separate button in the group button and the
label is part of the main button, so in order for the down arrow to appear next
to the label, the label will likely need to be part of the down arrow button.

This is how it is in MSO -

(In reply to Khaled Hosny from comment #12)

Sorry, don't mean to be thick.

At 5.3 we are claiming support for Hungarian (magyar) using the Rovás script,
wherein the Hungarian is encoded RTL departing from "modern" Hungarian which is
encoded LTR with Latin derived glyphs.

Seems the challenge is getting the assigned 10c80-10cff Unicode to render RTL
when the language is set to Hungarian. Where is that breaking down?

If we are depending on the ICU libraries to handle identification of the script
from its Unicode point range, and pass it for rendering as RTL rather than LTR
it is not.

The UAX#31 suggested to me that it would not be, as the ICU project recommended
against it. And that seemed to be the case.

Hungarian (default with Latin glyphs) are handled as Western language,
Hungarian (Szekely-Hungaraian Rovas) as a CTL font, and I'm having trouble
toggling between them, I keep getting dumped to Western and its LTR direction.

I don't see how I can force the UI to adjust, and the "automatic" detection
seems to not work (if it was actually implemented for this SMP Unicode block).

The sample file didnt have PriorityHBox as a child of a ContextVBox. Well i've
attached an amended version of what you provided and the functionality works
now. I moved all the separators as child elements of PriorityHBox, as
"DropdownBox should have only one child (eg. GtkBox) otherwise popup is not
working correctly." -
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/NotebookBar/Implementation#PriorityHBox_and_DropdownBox

For some strange reason ContextVBox renders smaller than it really is, which
makes all the collapsible sections being collapsed even though there is more
than sufficient space. Not sure if this is an issue with how you designed the
file or not.

Language setting should not have any effect on text direction, and indeed
setting it to [none] makes no difference whatsoever here

I think you are still talking about paragraph direction (since that is the one
you can change from the toolbar). LibreOffice has no way to manually change
text direction, it is always automatic.

First ICU is a software library (http://site.icu-project.org), Unicode is
standard body, you are confusing the two. Second UAX #31 has nothing to do with
text direction and I’m not sure why you are referring to it, it is a
specifications for identifiers like programming language variables or hashtags
(http://unicode.org/reports/tr31/#Introduction) it has no relevance to the
issue being discussed here.

This also has no relevance to the issue of text direction.

I always thought that was intentional (it's the same since ages in the box
"Apply style" on the formatting tool bar). In the sense that it shows frame
styles, in case a picture/frame is selected.
But looking closer, that is not the case..
So either the box should be disabled, or frame styles should be offered, in

sample "Unicode_Maros_ext" font should it be detected as RTL for glyphs from
the 10c80-10cff block? It is not.

And I can use the Tools -> Options -> Language Settings and "Ignore system
input language", then in Paragraph Style dialog define the CTL Font and set
"Hungarian (Szekely-Hungarian Rovas)" as the language.

Entering the sample SMP "Rovas" glyps using the Special Character dialog does
not toggle the direction of the text from LTR to RTL. It can be toggled with
the Formatting toolbar buttons--but is not automatic for the language. Seems
like it should be.

My thought was that if ICU recommends these scripts not be processed for
identification, we would not. Guess that is not the case as I then I found bug
97406 and that Eike has provided some support for the script. But it does not
appear in the drop list of Default Languages for Documents for the Complex text
layout languages, only in the Character style dialogs.

@Eike, beyond setting it up for i18n/l10n Pootle support, was there more to be
done in source for bug 97406 to accommodate LANGUAGE_USER_HUNGARIAN_ROVAS and
the "Old Hungarian" Unicode SMP block for honoring its RTL script direction?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107248] New: Improvements to the version control dialog

2017-04-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107248

Bug ID: 107248
Summary: Improvements to the version control dialog
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: bibisectRequest
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philip...@hotmail.com
CC: alexarn...@hypra.fr, c...@nouenoff.nl,
libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org,
todven...@suomi24.fi, vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu,
xiscofa...@libreoffice.org
Blocks: 102019, 107247

So the version control dialog ( File > Versions ) needs some improvements, so
lets give our input on it here.

1. The dialog title used to begin with the string 'Versions of ' before the
filename, but this strangely went missing in 4.2. @Xisco, @Bouvjaga: Can you
bibisect this?

2. A checkbox entitled 'Show version comment when saving' would be useful, so
that a user can always fill in this field when a new version is saved (on
closing or on saving). It would be useful for the user to be able to set this
option on a global and per file level.

3. Would be useful to be able to sort the grid by its columns. Feature is
available in the manage track changes dialog.

4. Would be useful to be able to filter the grid by date (to and from) and by
author. Feature is available in the manage track changes dialog.

Heiko has submitted a redesign concept in attachment 132649, so here are some
comments for it.

1. The function buttons were removed in favour of a grid selection context
menu, which i believe will make the dialog less a11y accessible. @Stuart, Alex:
Any input?

2. The user column was removed from the grid, but believe it would be useful
when a document is modified by multiple users.

3. Not sure many users would be interested in the size column.

4. The show comment button was removed in favour of showing the entire comment
in the grid, so though most users will normally leave short comments, what
happens when it is quite long?

5. The original dialog had a CMIS button, so how would that be implemented in
the new mockup.
