I guess we can close this as a dupe of bug 39052 as the ideal solution would be
to add the whole formatting dialog.

There are various issues in the page background area, and it is necessary to
distinguish strictly. There might be relations between those issues, but they
seem to start with different versions and also some of  them seem to have
become fixed in between with different Target Milestones.

this one mixes some different problems. The original problem is concerning the
effect that Format Page Dialog loses connection to imported picture, which is
already reproducible with Version: 5.2.0.4 (x64)

But for example various screenshots show the problem that particular size and
scaling settings will not be shown correctly after reopening Format Page Dialog

we should use this one as collection of materials for creation of new reports
precisely describing a particular effect with clearly described appearance (and
may be vanishing). Finding relations between those issues would be a second
step.

This one is concerning "on board" and also imported (bitmap) pictures as page
background.

In Calc, if the file path is to long, when you open the Format -> Page dialog
not all the elements are shown.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Create a new ods file and save it in a folder such as:
"/home/suokunlong/this/is/a/veryy/long/pat/to_test_the_page_format_dialog"

2. Go to Format -> Page -> Header (or Footer) to observe the dialog controls.
--> Elements such as character formatting etc are floated to the left invisible
area. 

This makes me not able to set the character formatting of the page headers.

This may be caused by the long file path showing in the dropdown list on this
dialog.

Language options include several language choice lists (UI and locale language,
default languages for documents), as well as default currency list, all of
which include a special item "Default: ", which means that this setting
becomes "unset" and defaults apply to it.

The item is sorted among other items alphabetically, making it appear somewhere
among languages starting with the same letter as the word "Default" translated
to current UI language. It is not obvious where to search for the item, because
if there are no default items on the page, one has to guess which term (and
which translation) was used: is it "Standard"? or "Default"?

The proposal is to make the items not sorted (topmost; maybe separated from the
rest of list by a horizontal line, like last-used fonts in font drop-down in
Formatting toolbar).

Throughout LibreOffice, changing several options requires restart to take
effect. This includes OpenGL/OpenCL use, UI language, and extension
installation, among other.

When some of them changes, warnings about restart required are emitted to user;
however, the warnings are different for different settings:

* For OpenCL, a dialog with "Please restart LibreOfficeDev now so the new or
modified values can take effect." and single OK button is shown, which simply
informs about the necessary action, and relies on user doing it at a later
time.
* For UI language, OpenGL, and installation of extensions, a "Restart
LibreOffice" dialog with "For the  to take effect,
LibreOffice must be restarted. Do you want to restart LibreOffice now?" and two
buttons, "Restart Now" and "Restart Later", is shown, which allows to initiate
the restart immediately, or do it manually at a later stage.

The proposal is to unify the OpenCL restart warning (and others using similar
warnings) with the one used for UI language etc.

It's a good thing to know that in futher version the bug doesn't seem to be
present.

That said, it is really a critical bug for MacOS users that would like to test
the official LibreOffice 6 RC1. 

Not being able to open the Settings/Preferences makes LO not usable, and not
only for testing.

Anyways, I hope the RC2 will be OK.

Current work flow is acceptable and consistent cross platform. Set an OS driven
default printer, then select the Print to File action from the LO Print dialog.

No compelling reason to implement the "Print to File" printer selection within
the print dialog.

(Even if I did not actually fix the problem, but instead implement a

Loading a file from a server (not on the user computer) by use of a shortcut on
the desktop, Windows 10 Pro Version 1709 OS Build 16299.125. Azus board LGA
1155 I5

soffice.bin - Application Error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc142).
Click OK to close the application.

If I clear this and then select the shortcut the second time all is well.
Appears to occur across the entire Server 2016 Essentials Network.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select Shortcut to an ODT File

Please don't change the status unless you can confirm that it doesn't work in
the versions that we tested. I was talking about master towards 6.1, and Xavier
mentioned both master and 6.0.0.1.0+ - it means, the one *after* RC1 available
for download.

So yes, the 6.0.0.1 does show the problem; but the problem is fixed in a
*later* builds.

I see the crash with message "attempt to copy from a singular
iterator" in, for example, daily Linux dbgutil bibisect repository
version 2017-12-24 and a local build from 2017-12-11.  LO 5.4.3.2 as
delivered with debian-buster does not crash, but neither does it
create the new table.

For specificity, here are my latest STR:

( 1) Download and open attached a03_fb.odb, an existing embedded
 firebird database with minimal Table1.  Program displays main
 database window with Forms selected in the Database pane.

( 2) "+A".  In database pane Tables is selected, and lower right
 pane changes to Tables, showing Table1.

( 3) In Tables pane right-click on Table1.

( 4) From pop-up menu select Copy.

( 5) Right-click on the background of the Tables pane.

( 6) From pup-up menu select Paste.  Program displays dialog "Copy
 table" with default destation table name Table12.

( 7) Select "Create new field as primary key.  The default name for
 the new field is ID.

( 8) Click >.  Program presents dialog "Apply columns".

( 9) Click the button ">>" to select both existing columns.

(10) Click >.  Program presents dialog "Type formatting" with
 fields
 (key) ID
 (key) cardinal
   words

(11) Click <.  Program presents dialog "Apply columns".

(12) Click >.  Program crashes.

In production LO 5.4.3.2 at step (12) the program again displays
dialog "Type formatting".  The new primary key is named *twice* in the
list of fields, and each execution of  adds another
appearance the name to the list of fields.

I am setting bug status NEW.

In bug summary, I am changing "duplicate Primary Key" to "repeated
Primary Key".

Not at all, my request is to have the possibility to manually add comments
(e.g. special salutation)to one or several generated records before to send all
the records by mail

It was possible before version 5.3, with the step : change individual record,
it's no more possible now 

you can change an individual generated record, but only save the manually
changed merged doc, not send the result by mail

This was confirmed too soon. Just because it doesn't exist, doesn't mean LO
will make this. I set back to Unconfirmed. let' see of there's argument for
this. 
LO is not OCR program. Microsoft has a separate Office Document Imaging.

Description:
When I click on the link to design a report in Base, nothing happens.
I can use the wizard to create a report, but this leaves something to be
desired.
I can create the report in Base 5.4.4 in design mode in Windows 8.1.


Steps to Reproduce:
1.Bring up Base.
2.Select database.
3.Click on Reports.
4.Click on Create a report in Design Mode.
5.Nothing happens.

Actual Results:  
Nothing. The link blinked, but that's all.


Expected Results:
I want to create a report in Design Mode, as I can in Windows 8.1, 
and as I could before in Ubuntu 16.04.

No idea why this would be a bug and what's the connection to "Heading". Not to
mention why would someone set outline to Heading that's a base for other
heading styles. 

"Chap" is "Heading 1" and Tools-Chapter numbering has numbers in attached file. 
"Chap" is "Heading 1" and Chapter numbering has NOT numbers set in new file.

Hmmm. It could be a difference in hardware setup? For example multiple monitors
(beamer/ secondary screen)? I tested it with a single monitor setup.. A
screencast or small video might help too.

Another way would be to find the first version where the problem occurs, and
doing a bibisect (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect/Windows)

Please excuse my bad English, I'm using Google Translator.
I installed version 6 and unfortunately it's the same thing see attached image
and attached file.
I add that on my machine the function (Ctrl-Alt-F9) does not work.
  To do the tests, open the file and save it under another name, then close it.
After open this new file and see if LibreOffice calculates? I think not.

I suppose that it is duplicate of bug 108619 - and if so, then unless you will
use a kernel or Java that don't conflict with each other, there's nothing that
can be done here - you cal only *disable* java and not use functions relying on
it.

Feel free to change status back to UNCONFIRMED if you feel if wrong; don't
forget to describe the reasons in that case.

Please don't change status. "Reopened" is when there was fix which doesn't
work. 
There's nothing that can be done here, unless you have a source with correct
paragraph formatting and steps or resulting file with wrong outline.

Description:
In scatter diagram I select a range for data label, however when displaying
data label data value is displayed as data label. 

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create scatter diagram
2.Create a series
3.Chose a range for data label.
4.Enable displaying data label.

Actual Results:  
Data value is displayed instead of the selected data label.

Expected Results:

This is Invalid bug report. User had an issue with ToC and concluded ToC
doesn't work. 
(Mostly) it works but users make errors, like Bug 114686 or Bug 65461.

I eventually found the problematic setting well-hidden in paragraph formatting.
Problem is, I did not set this!
I just did normal editing of the document, and at some point, the TOC had the
additional text in it.
Something, somewhere, changed some paragraph formatting to "Outline level 4"...
Aaarrggg.
