[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115287] New: Editing: after many, many, many years, Writer is still not capable of inserting an image properly
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115287 Bug ID: 115287 Summary: Editing: after many, many, many years, Writer is still not capable of inserting an image properly Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.4.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: m...@home.nl Description: In the headers of an image file is information about the size of the image (in pixels), and the dpi setting for that image. With that information, it is very simple to calculate the desired print size for the image (in inch/cm). How difficult can it be. Very simple, very basic. And yet, after many, many years, Writer is still not capable of extracting the dpi information from the headers, and calculating the proper image size in inch/cm. Instead it uses the dpi setting of the computer display, why I have no idea. The result is that images appear in the wrong size in the document. Strangely enough Writer is capable of scaling the image and making all kind of graphic calculations, but I don't want that to happen! I just want Writer to use the image file as is, how difficult can it be. This has been reported many times, and yet no one in developer community has taken the trouble to fix this very simple problem. I love LibreOffice, but if the developers don't take the time to resolve very simple but very annoying bugs, then they should think about their priorities. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create an image with (for instance) Photoshop Elements, make sure it has a high dpi setting (300 dpi for instance). 2.Insert the image in a Writer document, and see that the image gets far to big. 3.Try desperately to correct it, and give up. Actual Results: Image is inserted with the wrong size Expected Results: Image should be inserted as is, with the proper dpi setting as in the headers of the image. Can't it be that sometimes Python may be initialized somehow already, but miss threads initialization? so that in this case, PyEval_InitThreads() isn't called, global interpreter lock isn't created, and following attempt to use it crashes? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61213 --- Comment #11 from QA Administrators--- ** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98254] linecap round is missing for zero-length line and for zero-length path
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98254 --- Comment #5 from QA Administrators--- ** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115285] [Usability] With the GTK3 FileChooser dialog, simplify mimetype filters and automatically filter files by document type based on the running application
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115285 --- Comment #1 from Mike Kaganski--- (In reply to Jean-François Fortin Tam from comment #0) > I would also recommend vastly simplifying the choices in the mimetypes > filtering combobox. Currently there's half a million choices, one for each > type and one for each specific file format, and it's hard to use: the list > is incredibly long, not sorted in a way that makes sense, and requires > scrolling multiple screen heights. Nobody cares about such precision as > specific file formats (or they would use the filechooser's search feature on > top of filtering). This is huge oversimplification based on ignorance. Usually bold statements like starting with "nobody" or "everybody" are such. Actually, choosing the right file type allows to make the application to apply specified import filter to a file (so that some ambiguous cases, like csv named dat, or xml, etc could be treated as user wants). It is not possible to do that using broad app-specific filters, because sometimes several filters exist that all convert to, say, spreadsheet, and only selecting the correct one helps in difficult cases. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115286] New: Cannot change the default language (English US) for the Spell checker - Spell Checker does not work
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115286 Bug ID: 115286 Summary: Cannot change the default language (English US) for the Spell checker - Spell Checker does not work Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.5.1 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: other Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: bfleming...@netscape.net Description: When the spellchecker works it’s great! When it doesn’t it is a real downer. Running Opensuse 43.2 the spell checker in Libreoffice stopped working at some time in the past. I had auto update turned on and only installed and updated notified updates. When did it stop working? I don’t know. Why did it stop working? I dont know. What did I do to try and fix it? I opened up libreoffice, libreoffice writer and all the other libreoffice apps and in each I went to Tools/Options/Language Settings/Writing Aids/Available Language Modules and edited each of the four entries underneath the Language heading, attempting to change the Language setting from en-us American English to en-au Australian English. Now I have always been mistafide (sorry my spell checker isn’t working) why there isn’t a Save button in the presented panel – just a Close. In the past that didn’t matter because when Close was pressed and all open panels were closed and then Libreoffice was closed and re-opened spell checker worked. But no, back to Tools/Options/Language Settings/Writing Aids/Available Language Modules and the Language is stuck on en-us American English. However, the spell checker did not work even stuck on en-us American English. This was a frustrating problem many, many years ago. Then it started to work and then all English sub-languages (apart from en-us and en-uk) disappeared and then they came back and were sellectable and the spell checker worked again. This seems to be a regression. Anyway, I thought, maybe I’ve done “something” to upset dear Libreoffice so I deleted it, reinstalled, and still the problem existed. Well, I’m fairly patient, but a bad speller so I formatted my Opensuse install and did a fresh install of Tumbleweed 20180119 and libreoffice 6.0.0.2.0+ still doesn’t have a functioning spellchecker – mis-behaves exactly as above. The funy thing is, Libreoffice running under W10 hasn’t missed a beat and I love the spellchecker which picks up Australian towns spelt incorrectly (I.e Tamin (bad) - Tammin (good)) and all things spelt Australian! Please don’t ask me to do this or do that or do something else. First, do an Internet search on “libreoffice spellcheck stuck on en-us” and you will find multiple reports going back years. Then have someone do a fresh English install of OpenSuse Tumbleweed 20180118, using KDE. Check the libreoffice spellchecker and I’m sure the same problem will be present. I believe it is a regression from long past. Only when a fix is found or the problem cannot be duplicated – do I need to be contacted. Steps to Reproduce: 1.See "Description" 2.See suggested method to reproduce in "Description" 3.Possible regression - see "Description" Actual Results: Cannot change the default writing aid/spell checker language. spell checker does not check spelling. Expected Results: the writing aid spell checker language should be able to be changed but it is broken. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: See "Description" for a detailed explanation of the problem, the versions of Libreoffice that I found the problem exists in and the way to duplicate it. This was a problem many years ago and appears to me to be a regression. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115285] New: [Usability] With the GTK3 FileChooser dialog, simplify mimetype filters and automatically filter files by document type based on the running application
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115285 Bug ID: 115285 Summary: [Usability] With the GTK3 FileChooser dialog, simplify mimetype filters and automatically filter files by document type based on the running application Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: nekoh...@gmail.com Description: LibreOffice's GTK3 FileChooser has the nice ability to filter down the view by file type with semi-broad filters such as "Spreadsheets", which will include .ods, .xls, .xslx, .csv, etc. The problem is that it never remembers that it's actually what I want to see everytime instead of "All files", and all in all I think it should actually be the default behavior because it just makes more sense to filter file types to show only those relevant to the current running application (ex: LibreOffice Calc) where the FileChooser was called from (and users can always select "All files" in the rare cases where they actually need something else). Either that or it should remember if I chose one of those metafilters (Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations,...) last time. This would reduce visual overload in the FileChooser and allow me to find relevant files much more quickly. I would also recommend vastly simplifying the choices in the mimetypes filtering combobox. Currently there's half a million choices, one for each type and one for each specific file format, and it's hard to use: the list is incredibly long, not sorted in a way that makes sense, and requires scrolling multiple screen heights. Nobody cares about such precision as specific file formats (or they would use the filechooser's search feature on top of filtering). I would say that you really only need these filters in practice: - All files - Files LibreOffice can open - Documents and master documents - Spreadsheets - Presentations - Images, drawings and formulas - Web pages - Templates Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open LOo Calc on Linux+GNOME (GTK3 version) 2. Ctrl+O 3. Navigate to some folder where you're looking for your spreadsheet to open Actual Results: You see a bunch of files unrelated to spreadsheet formats that LibreOffice can open Expected Results: Show only "Spreadsheets" type files (default to that in the mimetype filtering combobox at the bottom of the file chooser; if I wanted to see all possible files I would explicitly go there to show all files) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I checked Excel and Google Sheets and they use Ctrl rather than Cmd for this shortcut on Mac to not conflict with the OS shortcut, so we should do the same, just like we do with other commands that have conflicts with using Cmd. https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/48793 > Currently in Customize dialog we can assign the .uno:ToggleFormula "Show > Formula" to another keyboard shortcut, but for some reason the "Grave > accent" does not show on the View menu or in the customize dialog as > assigned. Filed separate bugs for grave not showing in View menu (bug 115281) and not appearing in customization dialog (bug 115282).
