[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116702] New: FORMCONTROL: Option button behavior and tabbing are in conflict, naming convention is suspect

2018-03-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116702

Bug ID: 116702
Summary: FORMCONTROL: Option button behavior and tabbing are in
conflict, naming convention is suspect
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: wsum...@wustl.edu

Description:
When creating a PDF Form in writer, it seems not possible to get the correct
behavior from option buttons. They either tab correctly but too many can be
selected, or do not tab but are mutually exclusive when selected by mouse
clicks. The "Group Name" field has no effect; the "Name" field must match to
get mutually exclusive selection, but then the controls are ambiguously named.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create 2 option buttons in Writer. Label these "New" and "Renew". Give each
of them the group name "renewalStatus" Give them the same or different names,
depending on what behavior you want.
2. Export as a PDF form
3. Try using the buttons in Acrobat reader, using tabs or mouse to highlight,
and spacebar or click to select. Try to select each button to see whether the
other turns off.

Actual Results:
When trying to create a pdf form using the writer application, the option
buttons must have the same "name" in order to toggle correctly. This is highly
counterintuitive, at least to me: They should have the same "group name," but
each should have a different "name." For instance, if I display mutually
exclusive options with labels "new member" and "renewing member" as radio
buttons, these buttons could have names like "newMember" and "renewingMember"
and could belong to a group called "renewalStatus." Alternatively, the buttons
in this group could be named "renewstatus1" and "renewstatus2." However many
buttons I put in the "renewalStatus" group, only one should highlight at a
time. When I set up a form this way, and assign a tab order to the option
buttons, tabbing floats through the group as expected. Unfortunately, all of
the mutually exclusive options can be selected by pressing the spacebar as each
option is highlighted, or using the mouse, so that at the end all of the
options are selected. In fact, it is hard or impossible to deselect an option.

Changing the option buttons so that all share the same "name," regardless of
"group name" causes the mouse selection to work properly, but now tabbing only
touches the first option in the group: the next tab skips the rest of the
group. This is not right either.

Bugs 79542 and 85339 report similar behaviors.

Expected Results:
The correct behavior, IMO, would be for the "Group name" to identify a set of
mutually exclusive options; for the tab to float through these options in tab
order, and for the space bar to select the highlighted option while deselecting
all other options sharing the group name, and for mouse clicks to select the
target and deselect everything else sharing the group name; meanwhile, any
scripts or macros can refer to each option "name" to obtain an unambiguous
status (which seems impossible if all of the options have the same "name").

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I encountered this in 5.3.7.2, and it persists in 5.4.6.2. I have not checked
it in 6, as I try not to be on the bleeding edge.

Version: 5.4.6.2
Build ID: 4014ce260a04f1026ba855d3b8d91541c224eab8
CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 10.13.3; UI render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_3) AppleWebKit/604.5.6

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116694] Replace Quickstarter by taking advantage of the Windows native " always running" startup method

2018-03-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116694

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #3)
> Sure either shell:startup or the registry HKCU or HKLM CurrentVersion\Run
> keys can be laid down by the MSI.

... and after installation, user can enable/disable the Quickstarter from the
UI, without the need to re-run the installer.

There's ~no overhead here. The implementation doesn't restart processes: it
reinstalls the icon into the tray, while still running the process. This
*removes* additional overhead of running *separate* process as service: no
additional memory or CPU requirements, no IP communications across system
security borders (system-to-user), no counting of possible concurrent user
sessions (with different users soffice running - usual, e.g., on terminal
services), no additional development overhead of managing (changing security
requirements) etc.

So - I don't see any additional overhead to implement *existing* functionality.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116597] System Theme Application Failure

2018-03-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116597

Using the launch argument (=gtk3) with LibreOffice will theme it properly at
this point (Plasma 5 should already be handling this and does so properly for
other applications). However, using this method removes the menubar from
LibreOffice.

After launching LibreOffice apps normally again without forcing the launch
option, the theming is still applied now with the missing menubar from the
application. It may be possible that my global menu applet in KDE may be
affecting this, but I don't believe there should be any kind of attempted
support or recognition to implement menubar dropdowns in a user's global bar
yet.

Open manage-name-repaint spreadsheet.
Open manage name dialog.
Grab lower right hand corner and drag to resize.
The results should look like the attached image.

This happens with libreoffice 6.0.2.1 on Linux and Windows.

On libreoffice 4.3.3.2 (which in on LMDE), the list does not resize at all.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116694] Replace Quickstarter by taking advantage of the Windows native " always running" startup method

Sure either shell:startup or the registry HKCU or HKLM CurrentVersion\Run keys
can be laid down by the MSI.

But a big chunk of the Quickstart on Windows is reimplementing application
shortcuts and linking to the taskbar, and seems that all is handled natively in
windows shell with Jump List AppUserModelID associations.

Remainder seems to provide a LO managed service to monitor and restart the
running instance in the system tray. There's got to be a better way to do that,
and most Windows programs that need it would register it as a service.

Now, the text is all chopped, when the overflow was at the bottom and no text
was actually out there. I have not tested the myriad variants for this.

2018-03-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99794

--- Comment #13 from mattreecebent...@gmail.com ---
This bug is very upsetting when working with graphs and the like, as it is
impossible to compare before-and-after results for new data without setting up
a new field, which is time-consuming.
But more to the point, not a single other action in libreoffice steals focus
like this.
Not writing, not pasting. And neither should undo.
If you're worried about not knowing whether the action has occured, make you
concern consistent for pasting, writing also.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116701] New: Slide show resizes and/ or distorts text or image objects that overflow slide; any PDF file generated looks OK

2018-03-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116701

Bug ID: 116701
Summary: Slide show resizes and/or distorts text or image
objects that overflow slide; any PDF file generated
looks OK
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: alves...@yahoo.com

Description:
Starting with version 5.4, Impress started doing something that I think it
unacceptable: what it shows on the slide show is different from what I see in
design mode.

If it is an image that falls slightly out of the slide area, it gets distorted
to fit in. If it is a text box that falls out, it gets resized and the text
distorted. Sometimes, lines get interrupted. For some examples, see the
screenshots of what is in design mode and what I see in the slide show.

This happens in different presentations, even a completely new one.

Interestingly, if I export the slide show to a PDF file, things look normal in
the PDF file (things look exactly like they did in design mode).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a slide with a text box that falls out of the slide anywhere
2. Put text in box
3. Go to slide show

Actual Results:
If text box overflows slide boundaries, the box gets resized, with text
distortion, to fit inside. Same with images.

Expected Results:
I expected that, as happened until v. 5.3, text or images overflowing the slide
would simply not show, and everything else would stay as it looked in design
mode.

Reproducible: Always

(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #3)
> Don't know, if we should just dupe to bug 107521 ...?

It's a bit to complex for me. A commit partly reverted again because of all
sorts of performance issues
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=5440837e02dee8bc884e02be697bfd4def621d26=libreoffice-5-3
(See (meta) bug 112486

The problem is still exists in LibO6.1, so must another part of same commit. Or
related to bug 108608..

Had some trouble understanding how to test this (how to get the preview), but
think I figured it out in the end.

Comparing 4.4.5.2 with current master, there is no space before Max, so this
works for me
