[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117709] New: Export and import to and from Org (Emacs org-mode)

2018-05-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117709

Bug ID: 117709
Summary: Export and import to and from Org (Emacs org-mode)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ed...@openmail.cc

This may be related: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103791

[Feature request]
* Context
Org-mode exists in Emacs (https://orgmode.org/) to author documents in many
ways. It makes use of plain text to render and produce rich documents. Pandoc
can convert from ODT to Org (http://pandoc.org/MANUAL.html). Many people are
not comfortable with Emacs and prefer to use LibreOffice.

* Current behaviour
Currently, there is no way to save a document from LibreOffice in Org format.
One needs to use Pandoc or something similar.

* Desired behaviour
It would be nice if LibreOffice could produce documents directly to Org (with
tables, media and tables), and possibly import Org as well (with bibliographic
and intertext references, tables and pictures).

* Further information
There are tools which are used to convert from LaTeX (Org can render LaTeX
natively) to MathML (MathToWeb, LaTeXML, Pandoc).

Thank you!

Confirmed persistent on version 6.0.4.2 (using first example document and its
font).
Tested on version 3.3.0 and the 'wrinkles' were in a different place but still
present (page 23 instead of 22).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117708] New: Expose exporting as SVG slideshow as a separate menu option (or similar)

2018-05-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117708

Bug ID: 117708
Summary: Expose exporting as SVG slideshow as a separate menu
option (or similar)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: needsUXEval
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
CC: libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org
Blocks: 99825

Impress is able to create an SVG slideshow from a presentation that can be
shown eg. in a browser (so it's portable). SVGs can be expored via File ->
Export..., but normally only the current/selected sheets are exported.

The way to export the whole slideshow is to first select all the slides, and
then save it via File -> Export...
It would be nice if there was a separate menu item for this, similar to Export
as PDF..., the difficulty is that naming it Export as SVG... would be confusing
(compared to the current way to export SVGs of slides, which works as described
above). Another suggestion for the name: Export as SVG Slideshow...
Note that no options are need for the export, a file picker is enough.

Actually, maybe it would be enough to add a separete entry in the Export...
file picker, ie. SVG Slideshow alongside the current SVG - Scalable Vector
Graphics entry? (the extension would be SVG(Z) in both cases, which might also
be a bit confusing)

UX team, what's your opinion?

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

As I mention in the duplicate bug 117699, this happened to me after I updated
from 6.0.2 to 6.0.4 on Windows 10. Same as comment 32, during 6.0.4.2 setup I
specified not to start LibreOffice at startup. I ran LibreOffice "hub" (not
Writer, Calc, etc.), immediately Help > Check for Updates, and got the garbled
dialog; thereafter it worked in all the applications. Hope this helps.

Thank you, Drew, for your attention.

In other bug reports, IIRC, I have seen some questioning of whether
data changes should be saved upon close-without-saving. I think we
are caught between two strong and mutually contradictory expectations:

(1) A user thinking of data entry into a database will expect changes
to become permanent at the end of each transaction, for some
meaning of transaction. If Base is linked to an external
database, this is how we work. Right?

(2) A user thinking of maintaining an office document will expect
close-without-save to discard the whole session.

I see no way to reconcile these expectations. Comments welcome.

to make something coherent out of these results and post an email to the ML.

I was going to try and bibisect this, but under cygwin I can't get it to work.

Here is my command:
'/cygdrive/c/Program Files (x86)/Java/jre1.8.0_161/bin/java' -cp
/cygdrive/c/Temp/LO/Libreofficetest.jar:instdir/URE/java/java_uno.jar:instdir/URE/java/juh.jar:instdir/URE/java/jurt.jar:instdir/program/classes/unoil.jar:instdir/URE/java/unoloader.jar:instdir/URE/java/ridl.jar
test/TestLibreOffice

It says:
Error: Could not find or load main class test.TestLibreOffice

I tried also copying the Libreofficetest.jar to where I am executing it, but no
help. I am executing it in the bibisect directory.

How could I get it to work?

Anyway, I repro already in 4.4.7.2 and still repro in master.

Also want to mention another scenario and how it does work properly even with
this bug, IMO

Using this same example file I did the following:

1 Created a query using the designer, saved the querydef into the ODB. This
falgs the file as 'modified' (visual clue is red).

2 Opened the authors table.

3 added two new records and closed the table.

4 Opened the SQL window and issued the 'commit' command.

At this point the 'modified' flag for the ODB file is still set (visual clue is
still red) and that is correct. Closing the file now I am prompted to save.

5. I answered 'save without saving'.

6 open the file, open the authors table

The two new records are saved.

Still a bug.

Also checked that issuing a sql 'commit' command in the SQL Window does write
the data, it does, and the 'needs saving' visual queue is reset for the ODB
file which closes without asking to save again.

tdf#98646 Fixed freeze by flattening loops
DrawViewShell::MakeVisible was using loops for finding the area
to change the visible part of the EditView to. That could (and did)
potentially loop for a long time for very large objects, deep zoom or
numerical problems. That loops were flattened, the results checked
to be the same.
Also added a test for numerical overflow for getting values from the
Rectangle describing the object size. Despite these values being
the result of erraneous import, I opt for checking and avoiding using
these values.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99623] Copy-paste freezes LibreOffice when CLCL is running ( sysdtrans.dll!CMtaOleClipboard::getClipboard) - no steps

Hello,

I am another user of CLCL and this bug is driving me nuts too !

I am using CLCL 2.0.3 (official binary) on a Windows 7 64-bit SP1.

For me the problem is systematic. Here's how it happens:

- I have LibreOffice Writer opened, with a document I am working on
- in another application, I copy some content (CTRL+C); it can be two lines of
text of an image, the result is the same
- when I switch to Writer to paste the content, it hangs before I even have a
chance to do CTRL-V. The freeze can last from 15 seconds to 60 seconds
- once it un-freezes, I can do CTRL-V and the content is pasted into the
document

Additional notes:
- Writer does NOT crash
- the freeze seems to start a couple of seconds after the copy operation (not
at the exact second the copy was done)

Let me know if you need additional information.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96505] Get rid of cargo cult "long" integer literals

2018-05-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96505

@Baltasar: The benefit is to get rid of the cargo cult long integer literals.
Avoiding the possibility that somebody reading the code things that it actually
makes a difference to have those integer literals "long". And copying that
without thinking.

Code is read much more than it was written. Tens of years later. By other
people. We certainly know that in LibreOffice, where parts of the codebase is
over 20 years old. And full of weird stuff that you don't know whether it
actually has a meaning.

Debian- and Ubuntu-provided versions disable LibreOffice’s Online Update
feature, because it is redundant with the distro archives. APT will provide you
with the updates you need. If you need a newer version, just use a PPA or
upgrade from Xenial to Bionic (18.04 LTS).

Also, when mentioning Tango and Colibre, I was talking about our icon themes,
