To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117732] Firebird: Migration: Time values are being changed during migration process (data type TIME and DATETIME)

2018-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117732

Let me clear up my English deficiency in the comment.

When I said it isn't a big deal to change the values I meant that as something
done in the Firebird Base environment, if and, after the migration assistant
moves the unchanged (stored) values from the HSQLdb tables into the Firebird
tables. This would be something left to the users to decide to do or not, after
the migration assistant finished and by them. It would be addressed from the
project by giving details on how to do that.

Finally, as to why just use the current OS TZ information, because it is likely
a good bet that the setting is not going to differ for many of the users from
when they are running the migration assistant and they used the Base file being
migrated. The documentation supplied about the migration assistant would need
to make that clear that the data is being altered and why IMO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117732] Firebird: Migration: Time values are being changed during migration process (data type TIME and DATETIME)

2018-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117732

Does anyone think that the correct way would be to use the current OS TZ
informtion when the migration assistant to change the data so what the user
sees in the Base UI is the same before and after migration?

I bet if that were asked to users a bunch would say yes, and some absolutely.

So that is actually the issue, isn't it.

It is not a big deal to change the values, with a four step process, add
column, move data with offset fixup, drop the old column, rename the new one to
match the old. (of course there is any optional steps of dropping and
recreating things like views and relations that might of used those old
columns..but) - but big enough that I can easily bet that some of the users who
would of voted yes above are not going to be happy about that as a solution -
even with clear examples of how to do it. (which I would be willing to put
together)

Let me to take the role for a minute to advocate for making the fixup final in
the migration assistant it would be along this line: Firebird today doesn't
understand this timezone fixup stuff, it just takes what you give it as a value
and gives you back that same value. If the migration assistant leaves UTC
values in the tables and the users continue to add local time values going
forward now there is a real mess if ever Firebird comes out with an upgrade
that starts recognizing TZ, cause now the datastore is mixed.

I have tried original Rhino debugger (version 5R5 and 7R1) to see behavior
before changes to adapt to LO.
When you Open a script the debugger tries to compile.
If the script contains an error and can't be compiled then an error message is
issued but the script file is not loaded.
So in LO this behavior is not changed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118561] New: Calc: How to do this special lookup in external file?

2018-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118561

Bug ID: 118561
Summary: Calc: How to do this special lookup in external file?
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mar...@sternenschwarm.de

Description:
It's about doing a lookup in an external .ods file from a main .ods file.
A testcase with 2 simple files is included that demonstrates the problem.
A series of 4 screenshot images gives a quick overview of the problem.

Posted it in other forum first. Person there says it might be a bug. See:
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/159779/how-to-do-this-special-lookup-in-external-file/

Not sure if this is a bug
-or-
The formula is just wrong
-or-
This mechanism is not possible with LibreOffice

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Store the 2 .ods files in the same directory.
2. Open the main .ods file.
3. Do the things that you see in the screenshot images.
4. (The cell where the problem occurs is marked yellow/orange)

Actual Results:
Lookup in the same file works without problems.
Lookup in the external .ods file doesn't work (this way).

Expected Results:
Lookup in the external file should be possible in a similar fashion.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Not sure if possible with a slightly different formula.
People in the ask.libreoffice.org say it may be a bug.
See:
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/159779/how-to-do-this-special-lookup-in-external-file/

I have a tandem of 2 .ods files - one that holds a lot of data and one that is
the interface.
C:\fakepath\problem_2_main_file.ods
C:\fakepath\problem_2_external_file.ods
Usually I use "Data"->"Validity..." and select "Cell range" and use a formula
like the following:
IF($data.$B$1:$B$=B6,$data.$C$1:$C$)
This formula checks creates a list of things to select from (column "C" in
"data") by filtering only those where column "B" matches a certain category.
I try to use a similar formula when looking up in the external .ods file, but
this formula fails:

IF('file:///E:/Problem2/problem_2_external_file.ods'#$external_data.B$1:B$=B14,'file:///E:/Problem2/problem_2_external_file.ods'#$external_data.C$1:C$)

The following screenshot images illustrate the problem.

I will try to do this with Microsoft Office since I'm out of options now - if
it works there, then it should(!) work in LibreOffice too.

Maybe the syntax of the formula is wrong? Or perhaps I did not think of
something else? One alternative might be to use a real database and a C++ app
or something like that. But I want to use two Calc files instead - one that
holds the data and one that is the user interface.

My next workaround would be to add the relevant data to the main file - which
is a problem. You see, the idea was to separate the 2 files because the
database is a big file (10 MegaByte) whereas the other file that uses this data
is only 100 KiloByte in size and will be used like a 1000 times to represent a
1000 times the data in different combinations. Thus, I would have 1001 x 10 MB
versus 1000 MB + 1000 x 0,1 MB which means 1000 times more disk space used when
having the data all in one file.

Also ... I separated the two because if things change in the database then only
the database will need an update. The other 1000 files which reference the
other .ods file won't need an update. The data .ods is located in a folder
above the interface .ods file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118560] New: Word Count does not change after Writer document edits

2018-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118560

Bug ID: 118560
Summary: Word Count does not change after Writer document edits
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikemckib...@outlook.com

Description:
Whenever I open a new or existing file in Writer, the Word Count at the bottom
of the screen never changes. Whether I type content or edit out words, it never
changes. This has been the case for the last several months and the only work
around I found was to assign an F# to the Word Count option, which pops open
the correct word count and does reflect any changes.
I recently installed a fresh version of Windows 10 on my PC for this and other
reasons but the issue remains.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open new or existing Writer document.
2.Type or delete several words.
3.Check Word Count at bottom of screen for any changes, use Word Count option
(I assigned an F# to easily open it) to view changes in count.

Actual Results:
See above. It's pretty basic.

Expected Results:
See above. Word Count does not change.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
See above. Word Count should reflect changes in every document.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.

Investigating a bit shows the pb is due to locale setting + decimal separator.
Indeed with English locale, everything is ok but with French locale, it doesn't
work.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117732] Firebird: Migration: Time values are being changed during migration process (data type TIME and DATETIME)

The planning document
references CORE-694
and CORE-909 .

> it looks like that (support time zones) is in the works and
> possibly in one of the minor 3.x releases, but I didn't drill down
> to see if that means going to a common storage tz (UTC+0).

The first README for the time zone feature, "Time Zone support (FB
4.0)",

is quite new (May, 2018), so it might be right.

The first paragraph says:

Time zone support consists of TIME WITH TIME ZONE and TIMESTAMP
WITH TIME ZONE data types, expressions and statements to work with
time zones and conversion between data types without/with time
zones.

and under the heading "SET TIME ZONE BIND statement":

Old clients may not understand the new data types, so it's
possible to define the bind to LEGACY and the expressions will be
returned as TIME WITHOUT TIME ZONE and TIMESTAMP WITHOUT TIME
ZONE, with appropriate conversion.

The bind configuration is also applicable to input parameters.

The planning document
classifies time zone support as an optional feature of FB 4.0: it may
be postponed if its development does not fit the release schedule.
"Beta Release (stable enough)" of FB 4.0 was 2018-05-01, but time zone
support is still "in progress". I see no planned date for release for
use in production.

Whether LibreOffice will move to Firebird 4.0, and when, and whether
time zone support will make it into FB 4.0, are questions far above my
pay grade.

> IDK what the right answer is here - the only way to not loose the
> old data is to move the UTC+0 value into the firebird table,

Agreed. Especially surprising would be DATE changed by a migration
executed west of GMT.

I think it is of the utmost importance that we not *surprise* users.

> but then the display will change for all users not in the UTC+0 time
> zone.

One can imagine translating times and timestamps between GMT in the
table and local time in the UI. This would, IIUC, duplicate the
visible behaviour of embedded HSQL for TIME and TIMESTAMP and improve
on the behaviour for DATE fields.

This is what future FB will do after we execute the statement "SET
TIME ZONE BIND LEGACY". How many places in LibreOffice code would
have to change to do this ourselves, I wonder?

Of course, any user who issues direct SQL gets whatever she gets. But
a view may be defined using direct SQL, so this is another opportunity
to issue a warning in advance of an unpleasant surprise.

Summary: Calc: Bug with copy+paste for joined cells that also
breaks Undo/Redo
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mar...@sternenschwarm.de

Description:
Consider this .ods (Calc) file:
C:\fakepath\problem_1.ods
When trying to copy and paste the green cell into the cells below, the
neighboring cells get damaged. When trying to Undo, the previous state of the
document isn't restored - thus Undo fails.
Could this bug please be fixed? My only workaround currently is to copy and
paste only one cell at a time which is quite annoying.
Here is a series of screenshot images that illustrates the problem:
(See screenshot images)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached file problem_1.ods
2. Try to copy and paste the green cell into the cells below
3. Examine the damage
4. Try to Undo
5. Examine the damage

Workaround: Copy one cell at a time does not destroy the other cells.
Workaround is very cumbersome and not a practical solution.
Undo not working is especially concerning...

Actual Results:
a) Combined cells get destroyed.

b) An Undo does not repair the cells (by returning to the previous state).

Expected Results:
a) Combined cells stay the way they are.

b) An Undo does at least restore the previous state.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
a) The thing that every normal user would expect.

b) The thing that every normal user would expect.

NOTE:
I have a series of screenshots that illustrates the problem.
I have a Calc file problem_1.ods that contains the problem.
See the attachment for this bug.

OK, then we know it is not a hardware issue. Also, you did not loose your "old"
configuration details because you have the original Zip of the profile--of
course it is still broken.

Good question, I've not poked at it that much. Prefer to just rebuild my
profile and customizations, YMMV.

Deleting the "clean" profile, and simply unpacking the .zip of the "old" broken
profile is the means to restore the old profile--each attempt--at resolving the
issue with the Styles (F11) content panel in the Sidebar.

There is a lot of junk that builds up over time in the user profile--so your
choice about trying to tease out what is causing the problem, or of rebuilding
the profile and customizations.

Given that it is happening on the F11 Styles panel, suggests there is a broken
Paragraph style defined. Although I guess it could be any of Paragraph,
Character, Frame, Page, List or new Table style defined that is no longer
valid.

I noticed LO uses OpenGL in your case. Could you check your graphic card driver
is up-to-date?
Also, for the test could you disable OpenGL (see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps)?

The dialogue works when I start Writer in save mode. It appears in the sliding
window on the right. I reset the profile - this also works. This means I
actually lost all my configuration information.

Unfortunately the user interface is not very clear about how to restore the
user profile from a backup. There are two checkboxes:

"Restore user configuration to the last known working state"
and
"Restore state for installed user extension to the last known working state".

Where does LibreOffice get this "last known working state" from? How can I tell
LibreOffice to restore exactly the state I saved into libreoffice-profile.zip?

For now I cannot restore the profile from the backup in the .zip-file. So I
cannot reproduce the problem any more.

After the creation of the .zip I compared its content with the user directory.
There were a lot of differences. Therefore I did not try to simply unpack the
.zip file into the user directory.

I am getting somewhat plausible results by running LO with envvar
TZ=UTC. For reference, with TZ=UTC, LibreOffice version 6.0.5.2
(currently in debian-buster) displays the table in the original hsqldb
file as:

id tst_dt tst_d tst_t
-- --- --
0 2010-01-01 15:10:00 2010-01-01 15:10:10

6 2010-07-01 02:22:00 2010-06-30 03:22:22

I take this as the best indication of what is "really" in the table.

Comment 14 says that Julien Nabet committed a patch to master. New
line 344 or 343 of dbaccess/source/filters/rowinputbinary.cxx reads

nHours = (valueInSecs / 3600) + 1;

What, I wonder, is the purpose of "+ 1"? Running this way, I observe
of tst_t:

( ) In first row (id=0), 15:10:10 is converted to 16:10:10

( ) In second row (id=1), 23:30:30 is converted to 24:30:30, and the
migration quite reasonably stops with message:

firebird_sdbc_error:
*value exceeds the range for a valid time

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 108927] FILESAVE: PPTX - No slide content displayed in Notes view if there are notes

2018-07-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108927

Please write, I used these:
1. open attachment 134451
2. switch to View -> Notes
3. wite some text to Notes of the first slide
4. save as PPTX and close
5. reopen
6. switch to View -> Notes
Expected (what I repro with 6.2+): Slide content is shown, with notes.
Reproduced (what I repro with 5.4): Slide content is not shown, only notes.
