Yes, four tables (one row/two column), and all four have the first paragraph
with a heading style. So the emulation logic (all rows keep with next) is
kicking in because all rows (1) have the first paragraph in the row with a
"keep with next" property.

So far, all the complaints about this patch have been related to styles, and
the export emulation writes the keep property directly into the paragraph, so I
can improve this by ignoring the style values.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118793] New: Marks of wrong spellings do not appear in a document that is opened write protected

2018-07-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118793

Bug ID: 118793
Summary: Marks of wrong spellings do not appear in a document
that is opened write protected
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: infos-ste...@bartels-lueneburg.de

Description:
When opening a document with wrong spellings that is write protected one first
has to save this document with a new file name.
After saving this document the marks of wrong spellings do not appear unless
you are typing something in the document.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Write a wrong spelled text and save it. Close LibreOffice.
2. Change the documents properties to write protected.
3. Open the document and save it with a new name.

Actual Results:
The misspelled words are not marked by red underlining.

Expected Results:
All misspelled words should be underlined

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I think this bug was already adopted from OpenOffice because this behavior
could be seen in OpenOffice for years. (I expected LibreOffice to have
eliminated this bug in the meantime...)

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Export Directly as EPUB bypasses the option dialog - not useful here.

Export as EPUB gives you an option to select a Version
 - EPUB 3.0
 - EPUB 2.0

The average user is not going to know what this means.
That 3.0 is fixed layout (like a PDF), and
that 2.0 is reflowable without layout like headers and footers.

And there is nothing in the Help page for that dialog which explains anything.

So unless a user knows the EPUB standards/specifications they are operating
blind.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118681] SpecialCharacter dialog hex input handling of SMP codepoints is broken, on Windows at least

2018-07-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118681

(In reply to Caolán McNamara from comment #4)
> re "Problem entering string for the HEX value, i.e. aCodeString in
> selectCharByCode() [1] on Windows does not occur with the 6.0 builds", what
> exactly is the problem ?

The text cursor on the Hexadecimal field is repositioned to start of field
during entry, before input is complete.

Simple STR try to enter 1F320 SHOOTING STAR from Miscellaneous Symbols and
Pictographs Unicode section.

1. open Writer, change font to Symbola [1]
2. open Special character dialog
3. enter 1f3 in Hex search field
4. LATIN SMALL LETTER DZ shown in preview, and on chart
Note position of entry cursor -> start of field

5. continuing enter 2 -> 21F3 value, so not helpful
6. have to stop entry and position to end of field enter 2 -> 1F32
7. GREEK SMALL LETTER IOTA WITH PSILI AND VARIA
Note position of entry cursor -> now end of field

8. enter 0 -> 1F320 value "Missing Glyph" and no change to Subset

But kind of expect that 8. will change when
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=cf6c748f30fd630b6b7256e0c7ba1783892f9d1e
rolls.

So the issue with field cursor is just while entering values in the Hexadecimal
field. Entering the Decimal value also returns glyphs for codepoints, but does
not reposition the cursor to the start of the field so typing can continue.

[1] install from http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/ if not on system, bonus
current release support Unicode 11.0

Almost invariably on opening the document, at least one footnote will be
impacted.

I just tested now opening and closing the document multiple times and see that
(at least) footnotes 68, 87, 97 and many more are cut off (same issue as
footnote 138 in the previously uploaded screenshot). I'll upload another
screenshot to demonstrate.

No, I didn't confirm. I see gaps in the supplied file, but *not* when I save

To keep this report short I only added the test on windows 7, but I also didn't
find the gaps when testing on ubuntu 16.04 with v5.3/6.0/6.1/6.2.

Ok, so far we know it is something that appeared between 5.2 and 6.0.

What Linux distro are you using? If your distro is a mainstream one, it is
possible to git bisect the appearance of the problem.

Setting up the binary bisect repos and going through the whole process is
somewhat tedious with various quirks (most of which are documented in the
wiki). I assume you live in Finland like me, so I guess I could give you
support over the phone to make things less painful :) Feel free to email me
about it, if you like.

Lafricain, what I understand is, that you propose the possibilty to add
footnotes not only at the end of a section or at the end of a text, but at the
bottom of a page.

Is that right?

@Caolán, Thanks! Reading, IIUC that is the first of several steps to assure the
Unicode subset handling in the listbox.

Problem entering string for the HEX value, i.e. aCodeString in
selectCharByCode() [1] on Windows does not occur with the 6.0 builds. But it is
bad on the 6.1 build and for master/6.2--so is that from changes to the
get_text & get_preferred_size for the HEX entry [2].

I recall an issue in writing out the SMP glyphs to the the old "edit buffer"
in tdf#97839 in 5.3 before it was removed, bcz the length of the char could be
more than one utf16 codepoint, as fixed in [3]--something similar here?

Also, did you want this Assigned?

With the example file, initial res mem use was about 660M. It jumped to about
1100M when saving as copy.

I created a new file with 4 new pages and 4 new unique images (using the png as
base). Initial res mem was now 1850M, it jumped to 2994M after saving as copy.

Eike had some concerns regarding documents with many images and possibly no cap
for the mem use, so let's set to new.

If you have not done modifications to the toolbars, menus, keyboard shortcuts,
autocorrect and such, you can do this in the safe mode dialog:
1) Select "Reset to factory settings" radio button
2) Check "Reset settings and user interface modifications"
3) Click "Apply changes and restart"

If you have done modifications that you want to preserve, it will be more of a
hassle and you have to consult this so you can take a backup of your changes:

Tried appimages of 6.1.0.1 and 6.2.0.0.alpha0+ (2018-07-15) and the wait issue
exists on both of those versions. Their behavior seems identical to 6.0.3.2.

The laptop might indeed explode from the strain, but if you do get the chance
to build it on something more recent, you could use the --enable-symbols build
option. With this you get debug symbols which will result in a more informative
backtrace of the crash.

For me, it shows very briefly "1 of 5" at the beginning, but soon changes to "1
of 4".

I did notice in my Win master that it actually showed 5 pages (last page
blank). Then I ran it in Safe mode and it no longer showed 5.

Can you try Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode?
