[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97993] EDITING: Copy and Paste for Images / Shapes Need to be Shifted in Writer

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Screenshot of Word vs Writer, same procedure

Regina,
I'm not looking for a workaround. The point is that the current copy/paste
behavior is confusing to the end user.

I attached a screenshot where I did the exact same procedure of inserting a
shape and an image in Word and Writer. Then copy/pasting 8 times. In Writer
there is no indication that the copy/pasting was successful or how many and
where the pasted images are located. However, Word removes all this ambiguity
by stacking them or putting them in a row, depending on the objects wrapping
settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118899] New: Linked images in a table in Writer flash continuously and max processor out

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118899

Bug ID: 118899
Summary: Linked images in a table in Writer flash continuously
and max processor out
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: andrew.mitch...@westnet.com.au

Description:
I use linked images as I create products with hundreds of images and I usually
use tables to hold the images in a grid. In LO version 6 this practice does
not work. I think the issue is triggered by pagination and or widow-orphan
control. With small images, the images can flash a few times each second. The
image frame displays the words read error when the images are not displayed.
Choosing the option not to view images in the document prevents the issue but
is less than desirable.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert a 2 column table in middle of short document.
2. Insert linked images into the table eg. small photos
3. Scroll document so that a page break is visible as this triggers
repagination and the bug.

Actual Results:
images in the table load then unload causing the images in the table to flash
on and off.

Expected Results:
image show and are stable as they do in pdf documents

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Not sure that I would call this a technical reason, but I think bottom
alignment might make sense assuming that the stereotypical spreadsheet contains
mostly simple numeric data. For example:

1. Column headers with variable number of lines look better (maybe?)
2. Single line numerical data with variable font sizes appear aligned at
baseline.

That being said, I make a *lot* of text heavy spreadsheets like the example in
comment 1, and I always change the vertical alignment to "top" in those cases.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 34515] Writer should (optionally) remember and restore the last shown page (=not the same as edited!) of a document

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34515

In LibreOffice 6.x, I'm experiencing different behaviors in Windows and Linux,
and it doesn't appear to depend on the presence or absence of User Data in
LibreOffice's Options.

I have LibreOffice 6.0.5.2 installed on my Window 7 computer (a native,
bare-metal install). I recently built a Linux Mint 19 VirtualBox guest on that
computer, and LibreOffice 6.0.3.2 is the version in Linux Mint 19's repository.
To personalize LO in the Linux guest, I simply copied and pasted my LO profile
from Windows to Linux. Everything seems to work just fine, pretty much exactly
the same on both platforms, except for one thing:

When I reopen a previously edited ODT file in Windows, it always opens at the
beginning of the document. When I open a previously edited ODT file in Linux,
it opens at the position the cursor was located the last time the document was
saved.

Three things to note:

(1) This happens with *identical documents* -- not just identical copies, one
in Windows and one in Linux but *the exact same Windows files,* accessed on the
Windows file system by Linux via VirtualBox shared folders. (I don't think I've
ever saved any LO documents to the Linux virtual drive, since I have limited
virtual drive space to play with and don't want any documents to possibly end
up lost, trapped in a borked virtual machine.)

(2) It doesn't matter which OS I last *saved* the ODT file from. It always
opens at the beginning in Windows and it always opens at the previous cursor
position in Linux.

(3) This happened both *before* I entered any info in Tools > Options >
LibreOffice > User Data and it continues to happen now that I *have*.

My workaround in Windows has been to record macros that bookmark my reading,
editing, formatting, and spellchecking locations, followed by a save. When I
reopen the document, I just jump to the appropriate bookmark. (And since that's
actually more versatile and specific than just relying on the program to
automatically reopen at the last cursor location, I use these macros in Linux
as well.) But I nonetheless second the original bug-reporter's point, namely,
that it would be nice if documents reopened at the same location that was
displayed when the documents were closed, or at least saved, regardless of
where the cursor was located. It's quite easy to scroll your way through a
document, leaving the cursor *dozens of pages* behind the point at which you
want to resume reading.

Opening a document that contains text using the Gill Sans Shadowed MT Light
font renders all use of that font as the default font.

Opening the same document in OpenOffice has no issue with the font.

All other applications (Pages, etc.) properly render the font.

Libreoffice also doesn't show the font on the drop-down font list, either. For
example, compare the two screenshots of font lists between OO and LO.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118896] New: FILEOPEN: RTF incorrect displaying Hebrew

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118896

Bug ID: 118896
Summary: FILEOPEN: RTF incorrect displaying Hebrew
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael1...@mail.ru

Description:
When you import the text into a LibreOffice word processor you will see the
problem in Hebrew text

Steps to Reproduce:
Specifically for the test, I created the file in RTF format. See attachment.
This file may be correctly viewed using WordPad or MS Word.
But when you import the text into a LibreOffice word processor you will see the
problem in Hebrew text.

Actual Results:
The Hebrew font "Times New Roman" is replaced by a "Lucida Sans Unicode" (It
depends on the settings of the LibreOffice Writer, maybe another). The font
size is also incorrect.

Expected Results:
Should be the 11th pin, but it is displayed on the 12th.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This problem is only with the Hebrew text. The rest of the text is displayed
correctly.

Not sure if that is a bug. Instead of selecting all cells, try to select only
A5:C5 and press the sum button. The result is the sum at end of each row and
each column of the range.

Help for LO 6.0 says:
Inserts the sum of a cell range into the current cell, or inserts sum values
into selected cells. Click in a cell, click this icon, and optionally adjust
the cell range. Or select some cells into which the sum values will be

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118894] New: Enhancements to the recently used list (picklist) on the Start Center

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118894

Bug ID: 118894
Summary: Enhancements to the recently used list (picklist) on
the Start Center
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: prusselltechgr...@gmail.com

I have two picklist suggestions for the Start Center.

The goal is to keep the Start Center picklist clean, while preserving entries
for important files.

1. Add a way to PIN entries on the Start Center

If a user opens many files of varies types, the Start Center quickly gets
polluted with files that are viewed infrequently or never again. This requires
the user to manually review the Start Page picklist and delete the many files
that they do not need in the list.

The current option is to increase the PickListSize to a large number (i.e. 50,
100). This reduces the chances of losing documents from the picklist that are
needed, but that's a lot of images to review on a regular basis just to make
sure the picklist stays clean.

Suggestions:

1.1 Currently when the cursor hovers over a picklist thumbnail, there is a
delete button. Add a pin button.

A pinned entry in the picklist would have to be unpinned before it could be
deleted. Clear List would have no affect on pinned entries.

2. On the Start page, add an option to change the number of recently used files
(PickListSize).

Suggestions:

2.1. A spin button in the lower left-hand corner.
2.2. A label and pop-up to the Sidebar Recent Files drop-down

Any option that directly impacts the list should be easily accessible from the
Start Center (i.e., RecentDocsThumbnail).

3. Currently when you hover over a picklist thumbnail, the file path is
displayed. Add a copy button to copy the path to the clipboard.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Description:
1. Open LibreOffice Impress with a new empty presentation.
2. Move the mouse to the left "Slides" view over the only slide that is shown
there and hold down the left mouse button to drag the slide.
3. Without releasing the mouse button, drag the slide downwards until the mouse
leaves the LibreOffice UI and is over the Windows taskbar.

You can now release the left mouse button and try to return to the LibreOffice
window. However, the mouse cursor is now eternally in the "Slashed circle"
shape and the LibreOffice UI is locked up until it is killed in Task Manager.

Why do you think that is a bug? RAM is made to be used.

No need to do a copy to bump the RAM consumption, it is enough to select one of
the pictures. The RAM consumption is bigger if PNG is selected than JPEG.
With LO 6.1.1.0.0+ under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64: 548 MiB when the file is loaded,
787 MiB when the JPEG is selected, 987 MiB when the PNG is selected. RAM

If you want smooth scroll and fast display of pictures you need to use the RAM.
I do not see any bad behavior here.

Some more information (release 6.1.0.1):

Copy line (width=0.2cm)
from Draw to Draw: 0.2cm
from Draw to Impress: 0.2cm
from Draw to Writer: 0.35cm

The same issue occurs with inch units.

Copy line (width=0.2cm)
from Impress to Impress: 0.2cm
from Impress to Draw: 0.2cm
from Impress to Writer: 0.35cm

Copy line (width=0.2cm)
from Writer to Writer: 0.2cm
from Writer to Draw: 0.2cm
from Writer to Impress: 0.2cm

Copying with Ctrl-C/V or menu selection yields identical behavior.

Line lengths and angles remain unchanged.

Also, there seems to be an issue with text boxes when copied into the Writer
document: The dimensions remain the same, but text is wrapped in the box after
pasting.

Mind that these issues are pretty ugly, since they make it extremely cumbersome
to create graphics that shall be inserted in text documents.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118868] diagram or graphic caption can not be placed below the graphic

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118868

Hi Jacques,

thank you for your time and support.
I insert the caption by either right click -> caption or i go via the head menu
"insert" -> "caption"

You are actually right that the caption will be positioned below the graph by
reducing the chart area. This is actually a very good solution for now. Another
solution was, first inserting an empty chart, add the caption and then fill it
with my numbers. The caption stayed where it belongs.

I still consider this as an error that needs to be fixed in the future
versions.

Additonally, I do not understand why graphs in libre office have two frames.
One that is around the graph and another one that is around graph and caption.
And when changing the size of the frames, it can totally mess up the graph.

Thanks again.

Best regards,
Matt

Do you have the file size? Maybe the download has been interrupted, and you
don't have the complete installer, which should either be 240M (252145664
bytes) for the 32-bit, or 262M (274243584 bytes) for the 64-bit version.

Thank you for the report. Perhaps it's me, but I don't understand your report.
What I understand, is that you tried to open a word-document in calc. But I
don't know, what is the bug about. If you open writer, it should be no problem
to open your word document.

Please also try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' after giving some more informations.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118870] Line width changes when copying from Draw to Writer

I installed the RPMs contained in
master~2018-07-20_21.38.04_LibreOfficeDev_6.2.0.0.alpha0_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz

but it seems that I am not able to copy elements from Draw to Writer at all
with that version. I can copy a line within the same drawing or from one
drawing to another drawing, or from Draw to Impress, but not from Draw to
Writer.

Also, I can draw a line in Writer and copy it to another Writer doc, but not
from Writer to Draw.

It seems as if the interoperability between Writer and Draw is broken.

Someone may file that as another bug, but I'd appreciate if we solved my bug
first. :-)

NEW per Bernhard's comments.

Previously I've observed (with kde4 backend) that when changing filetype to
some OOXML, it suddenly changes the file name to some random file from the same
directory.

Would be interesting to keep an eye on this when kde5 backend gets into a
usable state.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118887] New: LibreOffice CALC NON-Compatibility IMPROVEMENT

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118887

Bug ID: 118887
   Summary: LibreOffice CALC NON-Compatibility IMPROVEMENT
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jonathanb...@msn.com

Description:
Hi, my "test" spreadsheet for compatibility is direct from Microsoft, not new
at all, and only WPS Office (Kingsoft) is compatible with it. It is a great
template called "Retirement Financial Planner" and is available at this link
from Microsoft:
https://templates.office.com/en-us/Retirement-financial-planner-TM04022385
I recommend you open and enter data in MS Office Excel, then open in Libre …
you'll see that the graph just doesn't work. This is a many YEARS old
NON-compatibility problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the MS template in MS Office and enter data and see how the graph
responds
2. Save, then open in LibreOffice Calc and see how it is useless.
3. Fix LibreOffice Calc and perhaps even solve OTHER similar compatibility
issues!

Actual Results:
Graph doesn't respond, spreadsheet doesn't look like it should. WPS Office
(Kingsoft) on the other hand, DOES work and look very much the same. I would
RATHER use LibreOffice though!

Expected Results:
Use of spreadsheet.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97993] EDITING: Copy and Paste for Images / Shapes Need to be Shifted in Writer

2018-07-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97993

(In reply to Luke from comment #8)
> If you try to COPY and paste in Word, you will see it's behavior is not the

> software that I am familiar with.

In case you paste the clipboard content while an image is selected, I see
different behaviors: Word and SoftMaker insert the clipboard as new image at
same top-left position, only shifted in case of identical size; Google Docs
replaces the selected image with the clipboard content; Scribus inserts the
clipboard as new image at same top-left position, in case source image is
selected and does not paste it at all if different image is selected. So
LibreOffice behaves same as Google Docs.

SoftMaker has a dedicated command "Duplicate", which copies the image and
inserts it shifted. LibreOffice can duplicate the image by using Ctrl+Drag.
Perhaps a short-cut for such duplication with a default 'drag' can solve the
problem, so that you can easily duplicate an image without using the mouse?
Which would be a 'quick-copy' (bug 100028) for Writer?
