** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119599

Bug ID: 119599
Summary: LibreOffice Writer later versions, 6.1, 6.0, 5.4.7.2
do not handle editing of styles of an imported rtf
file. Version 5.4.3.2 allowed me to modify the styles
correctly.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.6.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: penelope_pick...@sil.org

Description:
I opened an rtf file in LibreOffice Writer and was successful in modifying the
existing styles of the document (specifically the font size). The version I was
using was 5.4.3.2. I decided to use a more recent version (this time in
Spanish, and hopefully that wasn't the problem), but found that (using the same
rtf file) I could not modify the style successfully (had to select entire
paragraphs at a time and double click the modified style). This was using the
6.1 version. Tried it with the two previous versions, and was unsuccessful with
both. I had such high hopes for using LibreOffice! Have to teach a course in
two weeks to help marginalized groups format, and it doesn't work! UNLESS I use
an old version.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an rtf file with existing styles in Writer
2.Attempt to modify a style by changing the font size
3.

Actual Results:
The font of the text that should have been changed does not alter at all. The
entire text has to be selected and the style dbl clicked in order to make the
change.

Expected Results:
I of course hoped that the text with the modified style would have changed for
all of the text with that given style.

Reproducible: Always

Contextmenu Page for Writer, Calc, Draw and Impress

Page is available "only" in draw and impress and there the arrangement has a
bit changed. The reason is that properties are always the last group in context
menu.

Page submenu was moved out of the submenu, cause you are in the page context
menu so no need for an second subgroup.

The problem is that the formatting is just different on import of a docx

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119595] New: LibreOfficeWriter occasionally makes all text on all pages bold when highlighting targeted text to format bold

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119595

Bug ID: 119595
Summary: LibreOfficeWriter occasionally makes all text on all
pages bold when highlighting targeted text to format
bold
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: info.webm...@gmail.com

Description:
Intermittent problem.
Running Version: 6.0.4.2 (x64) on Windows 7 Professional. 11 page .odt document
while writing I'll ctrl "b" or click the bold text icon after selecting target
text. All pages of all text are then bold. ctrl "z" then...
I save and try again. Same result. Doesn't matter how long I wait.
Close and re-open document does not solve.
font "Verdana" set to regular in "format"-"Character"-"font"
Should not have to restart machine so have not.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. heading 3> enter > Numbered list > bold text
2. Create new sentence not numbered > normal text
3. Create new numbered sentence > highlite text > ctrl "b".

Actual Results:
 All Text All Pages bold.

Expected Results:
I expected to have the highlighted text now bold. Not the entire document.
The software should respond to the command "un-bold" and the command "bold
highlighted text" instead of "bold all text on all pages".

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I did go to safe mode in writer and reverted to last good configuration and it
appeared to be fixed.

Still very annoying. I have donated by the way. more than once. Not that I
expect favor because I don't.
Just saying, not a mooch.

Thanks team for a great product

Demonstration of ruler use and how pointers move

Dieter beat me. But I took a short video too to demonstrate. In it I show the
rule, and an arbitrary start position for the two left pointers on it, then I
move first the top one, and all is good, then the bottom one and they both move
as a pair. This is fine as default behaviour, but very often it is the
separation between these two I wish to adjust without moving the top one.

The work around currently is a manual bother: move both (by dragging the bottom
one) then move the top one back to where it was. The bother is, trying to line
the top one back up with surrounding paragraphs confidently by eye.

I'm usually doing this to define a style, but not always, and yet another work
around is to open the properties dialogues and use numbers for precision. The
problem there is that it is often very nice, by eye to adjust the bottom
pointer.

The most common use case I have for this is when indenting all but the first
line of a paragraph, wanting to keep the first line where it is, but indent the
body some to align with other visual elements - so its often by eye.

Christian: thought you may have some ideas. Indeed Pootle has the translation

If you have *verified* the MD5 or SHA256 hash [1] for the installer matches the
published details -- meaning you have a valid install package.

Reboot

Run a Windows CMD prompt or PoweShell as Administrator and enter these commands
to force the Microsoft Installer cache to refresh...

Enter:
  "services.msc"

to launch the Services panel,
locate the "Windows Installer" service in the list
Stop it (if running)
Start it

Now back at the command prompt, enter:

  "msiexec.exe /unregister"

  "msiexec.exe /regserver"

and then reboot the system.

Try the install again.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119594] New: Implement "Most recent fields inserted"

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119594

Bug ID: 119594
Summary: Implement "Most recent fields inserted"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: olivier.hal...@documentfoundation.org

This is an enhancement request for UX.

Rationale: When inserting the same field in many places in a text document, one
has to open the Insert Field dialog either from the menu or in the main
toolbar.

I'd like to propose a sub menu in the Fields menu or Fields Icon to list the 5
recently used fields, in a similar way as the "recent documents" in the File
menu.

Example of use case: Suppose we have a field which is a reference that contains
the Company name. The same field must be inserted in several pages.

Current process: go to the places where the company name is to be inserted,
choose menu Insert - Fields - More Fields and get the right tab (references),
choose the field and press Insert button. Repeat for the next occurence of the
Company name.

Suggested process: go to the places where the company name is to be inserted,
Choose menu Insert - Fields - More fields - then a list of the last 5 fields
inserted with their format is available in the menu. Pick one of them.

Complementary: Add a "Copy to clipboard" button to copy the reference field
with format to clipboard and let user paste in every place needed in the
document.

[Copying a comment from Bug 117329]

--

Just to make things clear, a quick and oversimplified review of what LaTeX does
by default (users can change those settings) with its "floats," either figure
or table, always considering the insertion point as reference:

  1. If there is space, figure is moved to the top of the page text area

  2. If there is no space on top, figure is moved to the bottom of the text
area

  3. If still there is no place, figure is moved to the following page

  4. If *still* there is no place, figure gets its own page, as close as
possible to the insertion point

The probability of getting two pictures superpose is exactly zero in LaTeX, and
they will never cover footnotes.

All this is performed automatically by LaTeX every time the document is
compiled.

In Writer you can set the frame positioning to be on top or bottom of the text
area, even in the frame style, but there is a high risk of two pictures going
one on top of the other or accidentally covering footnotes, so you need to do
the positioning by hand for each frame, and then move anchor points of those
frames to avoid "holes" at the end of page when the paragraph to which the
frame is anchored moves to the next page.

Good question… I changed the PGSql server setting to “log_statement = 'all'”.
Opening the form (using my db example) triggers the following statements (only
those to my db; in addition, there is a bunch of queries to the PGSql control
tables):

LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab1" WHERE ( 0 = 1 )
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab1" WHERE ( 0 = 1 )
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab1"
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab2" WHERE ( 0 = 1 )
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab1" WHERE ( 0 = 1 )
FEHLER: Syntaxfehler bei »:« bei Zeichen 82
ANWEISUNG: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab2" WHERE ( 0 = 1 ) AND ( (
"public"."tab2"."ref_id" = :link_from_id ) )
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab2" WHERE ( 0 = 1 ) AND ( (
"public"."tab2"."ref_id" = NULL ) )
LOG: Anweisung: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab2" WHERE ( "public"."tab2"."ref_id"
= '2' )

The last statement actually loads the data from tab2 referenced by the 1st row
in tab1.

Install LibreOffice and then before starting it go to /program. There you will find the bootstrap.ini file.

I suggest, that you first discuss the different ways to install LibreOffice on
mailing list or forum. It is possible to install LibreOffice totally into one
folder, including the user settings.

Have a textbox in the settings into which the user can enter the characters.
Each character gets added to the "whitelist" with which collectable strings can
begin.(Some characters should obviously be unallowed and autodeleted when typed
into the textbox, like space, tab, etc.).

Don't think it's a solution. The user should always get a precise feedback
what's going on and how long she has to wait for data. At least we have to show
the names and allow to load a theme ignoring the thumbnail.

No idea how to set the status.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118754] Inappropriate Default File Paths Imposed in Custom Installations

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118754

For the record: I have just downloaded OOo 3.3.0 from
http://archive.apache.org/dist/incubator/ooo/stable/3.3.0/OOo_3.3.0_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe,
and tested it using the procedure from comment 3. I couldn't reproduce the
problem with Program Files (x86) directory. Here is the screencast:

http://youtu.be/mIlfIyG4ENM?hd=1

As you can see, there's no OpenOffice directories/files in Program Files both
before and after the installation. So I doubt there's a problem which you
described in your initial message under the first asterisk. The same happens
when I install 5.1.0.2 or 6.1.1.1.

Also, I doubt that it's me who needs to describe "about what I'm looking at".
It's the reporter who needs to describe unambiguously where to look at to see
the problem, since that person is the one who sees the problem. Still, I
mentioned the paths explicitly several times (Program Files and Program Files
(x86)), and hope that the video also aids at understanding where *I* was
looking.

I also hope that the video helps understanding what "install location's
program/bootstrap.ini" might possibly mean. I was under impression that
LibreOffice (like its predecessor OpenOffice.org) does have its separate
bootstrap.ini.

Of course, I must always remember that if something was considered good in
1970s, then it's The True Thing which couldn't have changed during the decades
of progress. Then, of course, the fact that initial message was answered that
long (by volunteers trying their best to handle all reports) is the real reason
why the *initial* message is such rude. And when reading about
"defensively-toned flurry", I keep remembering the great article by Simon
Tatham named "How to Report Bugs Effectively" [1], which could shed some light
on why we tell that we cannot reproduce, and ask for reliable steps (no, we

So there seems to be some agreement on the idea. The question remains if
binding character styles to fields is possible regarding the ODF specification.

Yes, it has been designed to do that. The settings have a "When closing a
document, remove the words collected from it from the list" checkbox, which
directly implies that this is a feature intended to work in LibreOffice which
you can activate my unchecking the box.

I did just that, but it still removes the words.

I suggest we get rid of “Rotate or Flip…” - it is simply not OK (for the same
reason we are not using “Copy, Cut or Paste…” or “Arrange or Align…” as a
command with submenu in context menus).
If no other better solution pops up, I suggest to rename this submenu title
with "Transform...".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119569] Open Sub-Form causes PostgreSQL error

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to robert from comment #5)
> Could input data in form and also in subform without any problems.
> Data were saved.

Yes. The form itself works for me, too. It's just the initial query when
opening the form which is broken, triggering the error message in the
Postgresql server log. The latter is monitored by Nagios, which is somewhat
annoying…

> All tests with OpenSUSE 15, 64bit rpm Linux, LO Version: 6.1.0.3, Build ID:
> efb621ed25068d70781dc026f7e9c5187a4decd1
>
> Could be you are working with LO directly distributed by Ubuntu or Debian?
> What's the Build ID from your versions?

I installed a fresh VM with Debian Stretch/64 plus all updates, and made a full
install of the package from
which is actually “Version: 6.1.0.3 Build ID:
efb621ed25068d70781dc026f7e9c5187a4decd1” (i.e. the same as yours).

I /still/ get the server error message when I open the form, even when I
created a completely new LibreOffice database document (German locale of PGSql;
log file /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.6-main.log):

FEHLER: Syntaxfehler bei »:« bei Zeichen 82
ANWEISUNG: SELECT * FROM "public"."tab2" WHERE ( 0 = 1 ) AND ( (
"public"."tab2"."ref_id" = :link_from_id ) )

I have no idea why this statement is submitted at all, as it will never (due to
“0=1”) return any data.

In addition to Libreoffice, I installed openjdk-9-jre-headless:amd64 ver.
9~b181-4~bpo9+1 and postgresql ver. 9.6+181+deb9u2, if that is of any
importance. The version on Ubuntu is “Version: 6.0.4.2 Build-ID:
1:6.0.4~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1”, btw.

So it is an enhancement request.

If you start LibreOffice anew, and open an existing document, words from that

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118754] Inappropriate Default File Paths Imposed in Custom Installations

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118754

I'm afraid we're having different "reproducibility" experiences, and without
knowing more about what you're looking at (such as full paths) I can't figure
it out either. Since there's no separate bootstrap.ini unique to LibreOffice
available for editing when installing from the .msi, I had to assume that
referred to the Windows system-level file... and I was able to reproduce the
nonconforming behavior on a different Windows 7 machine for a 6.0.1 install
since my last message. Editing the system-level bootstrap.ini breaks other
programs. And changing it back to prevent it from breaking other programs will,
no doubt, have interesting effects on any LibreOffice updates.

My "tone" is a result of a combination of a lingering headache and minor
annoyance that a six-week-old bug note got its first responses (in a very
defensively-toned flurry) claiming "unable to reproduce" and providing other
incomplete suggestions, and should not be taken otherwise. This board system
does not allow meaningful formatting that doesn't look like shouting IN ALL
CAPS.

That said, I'm entirely uncertain how as a non-insider I'm supposed to know
that a disagreement with a fundamental design precept that results in continued
errors on my systems and others around me in similar situations should be
characterized as an "enhancement" and not a "bug." To someone from my
1970s-trained programming background, this is a "bug"; it's similar to the
inability to change between US-letter and A4 on anything other than a
document-by-document basis, unless one changed the entire machine's settings
and reinstalled, in early versions of WinWord and Excel.

Ok, fair enough.
What about not reverting it and fixing the regression instead? In any other
case, it's the usual workflow.

So far I've found 2 different issues but I haven't checked all the results
yet.I would prefer to report them separately, otherwise this bug would end up
being a mess...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118754] Inappropriate Default File Paths Imposed in Custom Installations

2018-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118754

Of course, writing "install location's program/bootstrap.ini" does not tell
which bootstrap.ini is meant.

And there's no changes in installer in this regard in *several* releases, so
5.0 would work the same (just tested the installer of 5.0.1.2).

This is not a board for random accusations. If there is a problem where some
program files go to "C:\Program Files" when you select a different install
directory, then please provide direct steps to reproduce this *bug* (I had
taken my time to check what you wrote (as I mentioned), and that wasn't able to
reproduce). If you also want to be able to change the way how user data is
*defined* (a) or stored (b), then file separate *enhancement requests* for each
of those items. And in any case, the tone of both OP's posts does not imply a
positive attitude.
