There is Page Break where you make an automatic break and Page Break Dialog
where you get the dialog with the different options.

In Insert there is "Only" direct page break but in Layout you have direct page
break and manual Break menu. As Title page is also in insert and layout I can
replace Title page from insert with manual Break menu.

The idea was to have automatic page break in insert and all features in Layout
tab, but as I suggest change Title Page with manual Break menu will work also.

I have a problem in 6.1.3.2 on Windows 10, or something like it. It has cost
me a lot of time due to data loss. (I work on some file X, then I open file Y
that causes the crash, and I lose my work in X.) I am pulling my hair out.
This is incredibly annoying. I don't know how to build this on Windows so I
don't know how to debug. I can open the file fine in Ubuntu Linux Subsystem
using 6.0.6.2. I don't know what's going on. I am at my wit's end here.

The only thing similar to this bug and 118373 is:

func=xmlSecCheckVersionExt:file=xmlsec.c:line=188:obj=unknown:subj=unknown:error=19:invalid
version:mode=abi compatible;expected minor version=2;real minor

Am I seeing a different bug? What do I do to diagnose?

Current status of bug in Liberation Serif, Symbola, and Junicode

I have per comment #14 confirmed this bug as still present in the latest
version of LibreOffice:

> Version: 6.0.6.2 (x64)

As the alignment of the characters differed somewhat for me from their
appearance in attachment #137699, I have attached a screenshot showing the
current status of the bug in a document edited from attachment #129100—using
Junicode in place of Code2000, as I don't have the latter installed.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

demo of dark theme UI

This is a long-lasting issue regarding UI design. In linux gnome environment,
many applications are designed for bright theme, for example, developer will
use a big black 'A' letter as icon to denote font-size, grey color icon for
alignment, etc. The color chosen for icons are generally darker to match the
assumed bright/white background.

However, for some other user using dark theme, the background color of control
panel is black/dark grey, which makes dark icon button hardly distinguishable
and recognize. I propose to use adaptive icons (at least two sets of icons, one
for bright theme (dark icon) & one for dark theme (light color icon) ), even
better libreoffice can auto detect the theme is using and change icon set
automatically.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50278] Provide separate dock icons for each component on Mac OS X instead of or in addition to the global launcher

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

This is the only reason I don't use libreoffice on Mac. as I use it on Windows
and Linux which I can directly click the dock icon for different component
while I can't do this on Mac.

The solution should not just create some scripts to wrap the different
components, but I think we need to reconsider how to package the whole stuff
which have some common components and have individual bundles on Mac.

Wish this can happen soon.

The front end is on Fedora F28, Linux Mint, Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Pro

February 2018 and has still not been assigned. Please do something.

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Issue remains, 64-bit build of gs 9.25 installs its executable of gswin64c.exe,
while 32-bit is built as gswin32c.exe

We call gswin32c.exe, for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows builds, to handle EPS
import in the ieps filter [1], but that is the only place.

Making a hardlink for the gswin32c.exe gainst the 64-bit build still works for
this corner case.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121378] New: Writer/UI: Adding Captions to Images is very Unpractical (Width of Image Changes with Width of Frame, Does not use Default Frame Style etc)

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121378

Bug ID: 121378
Summary: Writer/UI: Adding Captions to Images is very
Unpractical (Width of Image Changes with Width of
Frame, Does not use Default Frame Style etc)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.2.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: adalbert.hans...@gmx.de

Description:
This report was made with LibreOffice Writer Version: 6.1.2.1, Build ID:
65905a128db06ba48db947242809d14d3f9a93fe, CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.4; UI
render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded
run on Xubuntu 16.04.3 LTS with current kernel 4.4.0-116-generic x86_64.
Probably it is present in all other versions of LO too.

If I add a caption to an image, the width of the caption is taken automatically
as the width of the image. That’s quite unpractical for narrow images because
the caption spans several lines and becomes unreadable. If one enlarges the
width of the frame (e.g. to 100% width of the paragraph), the size of the image
is also blown up to frame size of the frame introduced by the function
Insert>Caption. One has to click outside the frame and its contained image,
then on the image itself and reset to the original size or to the size which
the image was given before. That’ very clumsy.

After the frame size has been widened, the size of the image is also blown up.
After the picture has been resized to its original size still the frame size is
bigger than necessary. Although the position is set to “Below” a forced
linefeed before the term is missing.

By manually resizing the frame height I finally get the size I actually wanted.

I could place a paragraph mark before Figure but no manual line break! So I
also have to modify the Spacing below for the style “Figure“ to prevent a too
much space below the picture.

I tried to modify the default alignment for “frame” in order to let the caption
be placed in a frame
100% of the current paragraph width,
alt least 4 mm height but it shall extend automatically if the content needs
more space,
left aligned
but the caption and the image shall be centered with respect to the frame
(which can be achieved by changing the default setting for the paragraph styles
for Caption and Figure). Unfortunately the horizontal placement and the
anchoring options are inaccessible in the dialog to modify my document’s
stylesheet. They only become accessible for an existing frame anchored to a
paragraph. But even then the frame is offset to the right by 2 mm (try it out:
this is probably a real bug). Unfortunately I could not update the style for a
frame to become the default style for any new frame. I did not find a
workaround to streamline at least the placement of the caption-frame.
I propose to provide a standard frame for image captions and one for table
captions which will be automatically taken for all new frames produced by the
function Insert Caption.
Further observation: No footnote can be attached to a caption because subdialog
items of Insert Footnote and Endnote are greyed out if the cursor is on a
caption. Fortunately I can edit a caption. But it should be possible to attach
a footnote to it (like image taken from …).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Paste a narrow picture to a LO Writer document
2. Make a caption for it
3. widen the width of the caption's frame

Actual Results:
In step 2 the width of the caption is taken from the width of the image
In step 3 the size of the picture changes. There also should be a forced
linefeed after it.

Expected Results:
Size of the image does not change when the frame for the caption is resized.
It should be possible to define properties for a default frame for a caption:
in the most general case one for all tables, one for all images.

One should be able to define horizontal alignment for these prototypes in the
 Mange Styles dialog.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

apt purge libreoffice* and then installing all of the 6.1 deb packages

The snap package also works, so I will use that for now.

I had upgraded (apt dist-upgrade) my Kubuntu packages multiple times in the

prefer to stick to an LTS instead of upgrading to 18.10.

Hello Alex and community, I take it there hasn't been any progress to resolve
the non-displaying text in dialogue boxes? It's a bit inconvenient; but I'm
also using LO in teaching, and the dialogue boxes with squares instead of text
do puzzle my students. They aren't really good advertising for LO...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121377] New: Autocorrect strikeout writing convention potential for unintended changes

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121377

Bug ID: 121377
Summary: Autocorrect strikeout writing convention potential for
unintended changes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
I unintentionally typing something between dashes without spaces.. I got a
strike-out for a full alinea.

Adding formatting while typing using autocorrect is a type of feature which
shouldn't be enabled by default; IMHO. It's not something I would expect from
autocorrect while typing. At least not by default.

Yes, it has been doing this for * * and _ _ for years. But there range has
extended - - and / /. It increases the change for activating it by accident.
I'm not seeing the need for it (as default). There are already shortcuts. It's
a niche function. It should be activated manually (IMHO). It's not common
behavior either for editors either (as far I tested).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Writer
2. Type -Hello World- + space -> Strikeout

Actual Results:
Strike out (or Italic/Bold/Underline)

Expected Results:
Adding formatting while typing using autocorrect shouldn't be default;
People who use it should enable it manually

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121354] In Writer the SAVE icon continues to show aftersaving

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121354

Thank you. I can see the little dot now.

I have recently started using LibreOffice after several years with OpenOffice.
I must say I am very impressed with LibreOffice!

I use Writer, Calc Spreadsheet and Base Database.
Each deals with the SAVE icon differently.

Writer has the little dot and if you select the icon it saves the file whether
the dot is there or not.

Calc has no little dot and one doesn't know if the file has been modified.

Base the icon is opaque and cannot be accessed if the file has not been
modified; it becomes bold if the file needs saving.

Would it be better if there was a standard method?

All the best
Peter Banks

:)
Did not get you Bernard !

So there is a bug or not ??? Because since LO 6.0.7 Thunderbird was working for
me with exactly same configuration.

Now Geary is working but not the thunderbird. For whatever reason same configs
are working for Geary and not for Thunderbird Or Kmail Or Claws Mail , isn't it
a bit odd ?

I am habituated to use Thunderbird, Geary even though works; I feel compromised
while using it. Thus earlier this bug is resolved ... it will be better !!

Meanwhile I have fallen back to LO 6.0.7 & enjoying using Thunderbird.

Hi,

I reproduced the issue with a variant of the script in Comment 7:

Sub TestBug121342()
Dim db As Object, rec As Object, k As Long
Set db = Application.CurrentDb()
db.CloseAllRecordsets()
k = 0
Do
k = k + 1
If k Mod 100 = 0 Then DoCmd.SysCmd(acSysCmdSetStatus, "k = " &
k)
Set rec = db.OpenRecordset("FACTURE")
rec.mClose
Loop
db.CloseAllRecordsets()
End Sub

Indeed the overflow is caused by the RecordsetMax variable which is an Integer
and is,as a consequence, limited to 32767. Additionally the variable is not
decremented when a recordset is closed, as should => This is a bug.

Replacing in the Database module of the Access2Base library the definition of
RecordsetMax by replacing Integer by Long
- is a workaround for the current issue,
- has NO ADDITIONAL SIDE EFFECTS.

I suggest you to bypass the issue in your own code by adding something like
If k Mod 100 = 0 Then db.RecordsetMax = 1
in the above loop. (1 and not 0 to force CloseAllRecordsets to do something
even if the number of open recordsets in the same run is a multiple of 100
...).

I will prepare a patch on master to make RecordsetMax a Long type and to
include somewhere a decrement of its value.

2018-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 121373
   Summary: Custom icons in Writer

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: agas...@gmail.com

I make a custom toolbar in free Office writer. I create icons. png 26x26 and do
not look integers (it goes the same if I make them 16x16). They just look good
if I choose "Very large icons " (Libre Office 5.4). Then you don't see most of
the icons of the standard toolbars, you see the associated text instead of the
icons. On the other hand, those on my toolbar look good.

I deleted the whole folder and installed again and table styles are back.

"Use ODF Format" is a "cancel" button
"Use Word 97-2003 Format" is a "save" button

as per windows guidelines (also used for kde) the ordering there is
"save, cancel" so "use..." appears on the right.

gnome guidelines are "cancel, save" so under that "use word..." appears on the
right
